There is two UETA Duty Free stores right next to each other, in the same plaza as Las Americas Shopping Mall. I would like to assume that they are both the same business, even though they are separated by one store in between. In the first store on the right side, we walked in and there were two ladies standing in the front, gossiping away. They stared at us and continued talking, they didn't bother to greet us until I personally said hello. I wanted to check this place out because I recently heard about it through a friend, he told me that they usually have these stores only in the airports, but they had some here in San Ysidro, and they're known for discounted alcohol and other goods. I browsed through the store, which heavily showcased long walls stocked with empty liquor boxes (for the more expensive stuff), and actual liquor bottles (for the cheaper stuff). For anything that says "For Export Only", means you can only purchase it if you cross the border, because there is no tax charged on the items. This rule goes for all liquor and tobacco. But as for all other non-consumable items, they also sell perfume, cologne, sunglasses, and purses, which can be purchased directly in the store. It's quite unfortunate that they have such a ridiculous rule of not being able to buy liquor or tobacco, without crossing the border due to no tax, if they gave the option to buy the goods with tax, I would do so, because in honesty, the prices on the products are exceptionally good. The only other place that can compare such prices would be on the military base, which I may have to visit because I don't want to cross the border. But let me just mention, that you can get a 3.0L bottle of Hennessy VSOP for only $209!!! Thats amazing. I will be honest with you, the only items that are great deals, are only the high end liquors, the low end liquors are regular priced. But the tobacco cartridges are a steal as well. Since tax on cigarettes have gone up and its about $10 a pack, when you can purchase a whole 12-pack here for about $35-$40. P.S. Also went into the other store on the left side, and we were greeted, and i asked another lady questions and she was very friendly and informative. But at both locations, the whole store is completely empty, and they follow you around like you're about to steal something. I was a normal customer trying to purchase my liquor. No disrespect they are very unprofessional I was in the store for an hour, and once I got to the cashier the lady did not notify me that this store is only for export to mexico. Until I was about to pay she told me in soanish not knowing I speak english and my husband does not know spanish. We are in america for her to not want to explain to him in English it was very unprofessional. I also, know the protocols of COVID I was about too grab hand sanitizer before I went inside and their security grab sanitizer before entering.... I can't believe the employees here. I live in Mexico so usually stop at Baja duty free. It was closed so went to UETA. They told me pick up on the second stoplight. Well that is a no return exit to Mexico. I drove past and turned around. I went back in and told them I was confused. She was mad that i had not picked up. So tried again. I could not fathom someone would be waiting on the road to give it to me. Went back. She was even more mad. She cancelled the sale which is fine. I don't want to shop somewhere where they make me feel more stupid than I already felt. Humiliated is more like it. Will go to Baja duty free where pick up is straight forward and no rude employees. Update. August 5. 2020. Had to return here about a month ago because Baja Duty Closed permanently due to Covid. First I hope the employees are okay. They gave great customer service. The same can not be said for UETA. I just left there after being told I am banned because I did not cross into Mexico last time. That is crap! Pésima experiencia con la "supervisora " nayeli Mi tío tiene esquizofrenia siempre va a comprar cigarros acompañado y sale a Tijuana . Por lo mismo de su enfermedad sabe que tiene que haber las cosas bien , no rompe reglas y no sale de su rutina .Hoy fue con mi abuela y yo a comprar sus cigarros como su rutina . Y la supervisora sole le dijo no te puedo vender. Porque la última vez supuestamente el no salió . This place has good prices and people are nice when shopping. Your only allowed to bring in 3 litters into Mexico and or 12 beers. Otherwise juts be careful if the boarder personnel in Mexico with taxes. read more

If your store has a manager they should update their operational hours. Your listing states you close at 10 PM I made the drive it to San Ysidro and I stopped at your store only to find out you guys actually close at 9 PM. What a way to waste your customers time!!! read more

I purchased cigs here and turned left out of parking lot to get gas, then crossed border. But because of the stop for gas I have now has my rights to purchase in any Ueta store canceled. read more

I had never been in this store before. But, I doubt that I will ever go back there to shop again! Dec 13th, I went to the store during the evening/ night. I got the WORST customer service by an employee: Lucero. She was absolutely rude. She was not willing to help nor she was proficient at keeping a good attitude towards the customer. She was very sarcastic while I asked her for help with a perfume, she basically threw at me the taster, gave me the look, and left! Fortunately, there was a manager on duty and she was so much nicer, I ended up getting the help that I needed to buy my perfumes.
