I tried the cajun ugly fries $13.50 Inside truly is ugly lol they have this unfinished would look on the tables on the walls, it's intentional but I think its ugly goes with the theme I visited on a Wednesday around noon and if there was an online however there was a study flow of customers but came on rotation I must say the fries are quite delicious they come with sauteed onions, ugly sauce, one of their beef patties and cheese as well as green onions You can get them on regular fries or cajun fries I then saw that they had curly fries and I was leaving I'm pretty sure they let you upgrade to curly fries as well At first I did find all the flavors to be very overwhelming I may not have needed to have them on Cajun fries. But as I continued to eat and I got used to the strong bold flavors I ended up finishing the whole container. The beef is tender and soft I definitely can see this being your tasty burger. I saw so many people coming to this place, I wanted to see what the hype is about and this place doesn't live up to the hype. We got the jalepeno gone wild wagyu burger, honestly the wagyu tasted like a regular burger, I got a little heat in sh it had more jalepeno but I would not pay 10 bucks for this burger I think it is a gigantic rip off actually it was 14 bucks, and the burger is so small, I think five guys with combo is 17 bucks and it is a way burger burger, they just Ty to persuade you with the wagyu but it does not live up to the hype. I saw a review calling it the best burger someone's ever had so I was curious and wanted to give this place a try. Yes the burger is really good, super juicy and flavorful, I got the $9 classic single patty, apparently all the beef here is wagyu? The burger had lettuce tomato onion cheese their special sauce. I also got the Cajun ugly fries so I could get the full experience, they had beef cheese chives onions and sauce on top of crinkle fries and they were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Now I know myself so I had a glass container ready for leftovers because I knew all I could stomach was half a burger and 1/4 of the fries. The food was good but what kept me from giving the fifth star was just how greasy and nauseous I was after only a few bites. I had to eat a stalk of celery after but once again the food was good and I get the feeling its still delicious the day after and a quick nuking in the microwave so I would make this a multi meal thing and round it out with fresh fruits and vegetables. read more

Another yummy find in Kensington Market. Ugly Delicious, is just plain D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! I went around noon, they had just opened and I was their first customer. I was greeted right away, service was friendly. I ordered the Burger Royale which is a Wagyu Smash Patty with American Cheese, Ugly Sauce and Pickles on a Sour Dough Bread. I got the combo and opted for curly fries. The food came out quick, everything looked fresh! The really enjoyed the burger. The sour dough bread was buttery and nicely toasted. The Wagyu smash patty was amazing, melt in your mouth yum! I love smash burgers. The crustiness of the meat and the sauce with the salty pickle and butter toasty bread is just a wonderful bite! The fries were crispy on the outside and the inside was soft potatoey yumminess! The serving size was perfect. The price for the combo was just over $20. I don't think the price is a huge factor, the food was great, service is friendly, the inside itself has ample seating and is clean! I ended up getting the curly fries and the jalapeño smash burger, and all I can say is WOW! The burger was absolutely delicious, and so were the fries. The service here was quick, and there's plenty of seating that was well spaced put for those who wishes to dine in. There's also a washroom available for customers so you can wash your hands before/after your meal if needed. My first time at Ugly Delicious in Kensington Market! Got the double burger and curly fries and overall very delicious. Meat was very flavourful and whole burger was amazing. The burgers are made with their signature blend of Halal hand slaughtered Australian Wagyu and premium AAA beef cut, delivered and grind fresh daily. The curly fries tasted good but we're not fully curly. It's like I got the broken pieces. Also the sauce sometimes tasted like Big Mac sauce which I didn't like. My friend got the Ugly Fries which looked so beautiful! He said it was very filling. Service was fast and friendly and ambiance was quiet and not crowded at 11:30am on a weekday. I tried the Classic double burger back in May and thought it was tasty. I thought the beef was really juicy. See first photo. However, when I went there again today, our burgers were burnt and dry! See second photo. The onion rings also were nothing to rave about. I had assumed it would be panko-breaded onion rings since they served Wagyu but it was just your typical greasy onion rings. Anyway, it was busier today compared to last time a went. Plus I think the cook smashed it way too thin this time so the meat just got burnt. Would I come back? Maybe I'll give them another try on a less busier time of day. I also think the beef shouldn't be smashed too thin so they can maintain the juiciness each time and stay consistent. read more

I usually go to Burgernator (halal and Muslim owned) around the corner for the best burger but I thought I would give this place a try since it was halal wagyu burgers. I got the double patty, onion one. Unfortunately the burgers did not have taste and the same for the $3 cookie. The ugly sauce didn't really add any discernible flavour. The washroom was single-toilet and spacious. I wouldn't recommend it and I won't be returning unfortunately. I made the mistake of trying somewhere else other than Burgernator. But I do give them props for offering halal meat. Thank you for that. Maybe if they season the meat or don't smash it soooo thin and lose the juiciness n flavour, and add vanilla or mixed Essence to the cookie, it would be more tasty for future customers. We ducked in here from the cold for lunch. This restaurant is the new kid on the block. It was empty on the inside, but I am glad we stopped here. This burger was very similar to smash burger in terms of flavor and appearance. The beef patties are made from wagyu beef, which makes for a more pricey burger. The beef patties where thin, savory, and richly dense in flavor with gooey cheese melted in between. The bun was soft, moist, and tasty but unfortunately it didn't hold up and lacked sturdiness. I was not full after finishing my double cheeseburger and could have used another burger or eaten the triple. Silly name for a new burger joint in Kensington had plenty of people going in to check it out. They claim to fame is that their beef is wagyu, which is delicious, and their smash burger did taste very nice! The patty is quite thin though, so I suppose it's a tradeoff for the extra quality beef. The burger itself was well put together with a nice dollop of mayo and a soft bun of the perfect size for the single patty burger that I had. The basic burger is $8 and the combo is $16. Looking at that doubling in price for the fries and pop seems a tad high, so if you go and not terribly hungry and just wanna try the beef, order the burger by itself, or get two of them instead for the same price. The fries were good, but nothing you haven't tried before. There were a few options to make your lunch more expensive, like subbing the pop for a beer, etc., but I was happy with my combo with the price just under $20 with a tip. Looks like a solid addition to Kensington with Top Gun Burger to compete with just a bit north on Augusta, should be interesting to see how this latest burger war heats up going into the tough winter months, fighting over your fast food dollar. read more

Ugly delicious encompasses all of the good aspects of a fast food restaurant while delivering food to the standards of a high end restaurant. It's simply mastered all aspects of its concept, at least during the two trips I've taken there. PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: For those of you who don't know, Ugly delicious featured during a show on Netflix, and is also associated with famous chef David Chang. The burger patties are wagyu grade meat specially imported and the place itself has gone viral all over social media. That being said, I walked into this restaurant with 12 other people having huge expectations. The place itself is nice, with wooden tables and a well kept interior, which provided us with a perfectly pleasant dine in experience. There is a clean bathroom for customers to use as well. The food absolutely lived up to my expectations. I've tried the curly fries, fries, wings, onions we crazy, and jalapeños gone wild (so both burgers) as well as the OG burger, and most other items available on the menu. FOOD Burger: The Jalapeños we crazy and onions gone wild burgers are both delicious and really dependent on whether or not you enjoy spice. Both the onions and jalapeños provide a delicious complimentary flavor profile without overpowering the other textures or tastes. The patty is tender and well seasoned, with the ugly sauce bringing everything together as the star of the item. The cheese is smoky and delicious, and pulls with each bite. The buns are so soft and fluffy, that combined with the tenderness of the patty and the gooey melted cheese, it feels like the whole sandwich just melts in your mouth. 9.5/10 Wings: For those who don't know, the wing flavors rotate monthly (last month was gochujang and wild honey), this month is sweet and spicy. The wings were absolutely delicious. The sauce, while coating the wing generously, does not make the crispy exterior soggy and does not overpower the wing. You can still taste the chicken, which is juicy and full, and falls right off the bone- It's a perfect crunch right into the meat. Seasoned to perfection and with just the right amount of heat so that you are still enjoying the meal/other flavors. 9.5/10 Loaded fries: Like a burger (uses ugly sauce and meat), over fries: absolutely delicious. Filling, but not too much to the point- most sides including the onion rings and this dish come overflowing out of the box. They aren't stingy with the proportions which I love- the wings come with 12 wings which are the same size as "wings up" wings (for example as a comparison which come with 6). Both claim to be a pound, but clearly somebody is lying. 7.5/10 Fries: the straight belgian style fries and the crinkle cuts are both absolutely amazing. Salty and fried with that beefy deliciousness, it combines the golden crispness of a mcdonalds french fry and the salty goodness with an actual potato-like taste and the piping hot fluffy interior that create the perfect bite. I could easily eat these fries everyday for a week. 9.5/10 AMBIANCE/CUSTOMER SERVICE: Yesterday, on April 9th due to a transit issue me and my friends arrived just as they were closing. As somebody who's worked in food service, I was astonished with the patience and consideration the people at the cashier and in the kitchen showed us. They were willing to re-open all the appliances to make our meal and waited as we argued with each other over payment and order. Although people kept changing their orders last minute or splitting the payment across over 4 cards with different funds, there was no falter in their perfectly pleasant demeanor. The food was delivered with speed and quality. The First experience I had, the restaurant was packed to the brim during dinner hours. The line, while five people deep, moved at insane pace and our order came out quicker than at Mcdonald's. For around the same price, and at a quicker speed, we were delivered a mouthwatering meal with no difference in quality than the second meal. My one complaint: Please open more locations. Visited this spot for Saturday night dinner. This spot is located right in the middle of Kensington and has seating both inside and outdoors. We got the double classic combo (with ugly fries) and onions we crazy (with regular fries). There were a few parties seated though we were able to find a seat as well. The orders are brought to your table and are in takeout boxes. I thought the burger was a bit on thin side and the sauce overpowered everything. I also got the ugly fries, which was really just an extension of the burger sauces and condiments. I still felt hungry after the meal and think its a tad overpriced. I had to plead and negotiate stopping in for a burger versus walking along the streets before sunset after the rain cleared up; it took me about three minutes and I'm quite happy I could. They ran out of the cheese version's sourdough bread, which I would prefer for its sturdiness and taste, but it was easy for me to order the triple given that the patties are 3 oz. The restaurant was not busy except for the steady delivery pickups I noticed, so I guess I got the super fresh service. I know $22 for a triple burger is $10 more than it would cost for a mortal burger, but it's worth every penny. Given inflation, I actually think this is an extremely fair and delicious proposition. 2023-08-28 First, let me say that "wagyu" and "smash burgers" were the two things that attracted me to try this place. It's located in the heart of Kensington Market so finding parking was atrocious. However, once parked on Augusta, it was an easy walked to the resto around 12:30pm. About 3 tables were occupied but there were available tables for two. The space has an unfinished construction site vibe. They use unfinished plywood as tables and surround for their counter, and exposed ductwork. You order from the cashier and get a number, then you grab a table and they'll yell out your number when your order is ready for pickup at the front counter. We ordered the Classic Single combo which comes with a side and drink. We got the fries (wrinkled) and bottle water. The burger was definitely smashed but very thin; it was the taste though that won me over even though the burger bun was soft and not toasted so got smushy with the mayo and tomatoes. The fries were amazingly crispy, yummy and was an added bonus highlight to the combo. Would order the fries for takeout the next time in the neighbourhood.
