I enjoyed the Black Truffle Shack Stack ($16.99) that I ordered. I love the taste of truffle and the melted cheese in the burger. The I Heart Butter Tart Concrete ($6.49) that I ordered was a little too much for myself. I did decide to go through and finish the ice cream / sundae just so I don't have anything to go. The interior of the place was properly though out and well designed. Self order stations are available to order from and the ordering interface is one of the better systems I have seen. When I dined in early afternoon on a weekday it was a rather slow day. There were a couple of Shake Shack employees constantly roaming about the premises ready to attend to any customer request. 1 such employee was thoughtful enough to serve me and a group of other customers some water. I have mixed feelings about the bathroom setup. Yes, it is clean and there were a few toilet rooms available, but it requires a code to be entered prior to using. The door screen shows as vacant but an employee still needs to give out the 4 digit code needed to access the toilets. I also found some issues with the water faucet sensors. It is inconsistently picking up my gestures resulting in an unreliable and unsteady flow of running water when I was washing my hands.
Second time to eat here. Second experience was for the new black truffle launch. Space is big and clean. Service is fairly quick. For the black truffle night, they had servers serving us which was a nice and new experience. Food was great!
We were excited to try Shake Shack. There was a bit of a line-up but it wasn't too bad. The line moved pretty fast as they had self-serve kiosks set up on the side. The wait time wasn't long either; I'd say we waited less than 10 minutes for our order to be ready. The burgers were made fresh and the patty itself was crispy and delicious. The Smoke Shack (4/5) was good. I found that the bacon overpowered the taste of the patty. It had a bit of a kick to it which I enjoyed. The Shroom Burger (5/5) was delicious. The crunchiness of the fried mushroom and the cheese really gave this burger a fun and delightful twist. The Avocado Bacon Chicken Burger (4/5) was good. The chicken was crispy and juicy. We didn't like how there were pickles in the burger so we'd probably customize this to take those out next time. The crinkle cut fries were quite addictive. The restaurant was bright and clean. The workers were friendly and helpful.
Came back in May with a colleague to try the new MiMi Chinese x Shake Shack collab items. 1. Coconut black sesame shack . . . . . 2. Mala chicken sando 3. Shaokao fries That's the order I would rank them. In my opinion, the only collab item that I would have ordered again was the shake as it actually tasted like a GOOD drink and wasn't sweet. The mala sando, while good, didn't wow me at all (and I can also confidently say I've had way better chicken sandos). It DID give you that numbing mouth effect though which is what they were clearly going for but I think I prefer classic chicken sando toppings like pickles over tomatoes. The sandwich was also kinda small. I think I'll stick to ordering the double shack burger as my go-to. Shake shack's fries have always been underwhelming to me and these collab ones didn't move the needle on that front.
The line was long & extended outside even after 9pm, albeit on a Friday night. Mala chicken ($10.99) was pretty good. The chicken was fresh, hot, crispy & juicy & the taste was a convincing mouthwatering chicken. The mayo went well with it. Shaokao fries ($5.99) were their normal crinkle fries with cumin & chili powder. They were decent if a touch dry. Chili mayo on the side was creamy but pretty spicy. It'd be better without the chili to cut the heat.
Cheesy fries are always the best, but they need to not be so stingy on the cheese. Burgers were great. Feels so much more expensive every time
Food: Double Shack tasted like a good smashed burger. The beef patty tasted more lean compared to others I've had. I added crispy onions but I felt it didn't add anything special to the burger. Smoke Shack was good but my least favourite burger. I felt the bacon overpowered the overall taste of the burger. Bacon and Cheese Fries were okay, the cheese was a bit too thick. Chicken bites tasted good as well, it tasted like white meat. Milkshake wasn't my favourite because it tasty to much like heavy cream. The s'mores frozen custard tasted amazing! I would order it again. I loved the mix of frozen custard, chocolate pieces, and graham cracker! Service: Quite efficient for 5pm on a Friday. Still a couple of tables to sit down and eat. A very nice and friendly employee also offered us water while we were eating which was very nice of her. Other employees also assisted in taking our garbage and empty trays.
Was visiting from Vancouver and decided to try this out - Large space with plenty of seating - there system seems to be pretty fast and efficient. They have self serve kiosks that you can place your own order on. Personally I didn't see the hype behind this huge establishment - also why isn't there any meal/combo offerings? Needing to order each item individually quickly built up your meal bill. Chicken burger was bland - chicken itself was pretty dry - burger didn't offer much taste, I felt like I was washing it down with my drink. - Fries were cold and not crispy - but they were so busy, so not sure how I ended up with cold fries. The hot dog, well it was a grilled hot dog, it was okay but nothing to brag about. For a visitor I'd say this is a skip the next time around - there is no reason to spend as much as I did for what i received.
One of my favourite burger comfort food spots in the city! The quality of food is just exceptional for fast food, and I absolutely love their fries and Smoke Shack burger! Got the Shroom Burger which I normally love but found it to be cold when I received my order! Overall a great fast food joint! 8/10 recommend!
I have been here a few times already and I have to say the flow of ordering and getting the order is nice. You can see your name on the board and its progress and there is also someone there to hand you your order which is a nice touch. As for the food, a bit on the pricey side which is understandable. The fries, I do like very much, and the burgers were a bit on the smaller size since they are smash burgers but they are also yummy as well. Great location and I like that they make use of their space really well with the seating on the main floor and upstairs. I have been to the SS in Japan and I would have to say that this one here is comparable in a good way.
Unpopular opinion but I come here for the fried chicken sandwich. Chicken is perfectly fried, crispy and juicy. So tasty. Also quite a surprise but the customer service is amazing, they brought us water when they noticed we didn't have a drink and the interior is always clean which is such a bonus for a fast food place.
Came by after work before karaoke nearby. My favorite on the menu has always been the shroom burger since I find the beef patty quite thin. Service is fast but the burger came out looking greasy and the burger didn't seem hot, just warm. First time getting the Fifty Fifty, and It's a nice combo to cut through the grease, but nothing super special.
Love that Toronto now has a shake shack! The burgers resemble smash burgers with a flattened patty, pastry bun, and fresh ingredients with very flavourful sauces. The location is great with lots of seating and both self and employee cashes. I enjoy the buzzer system with the screens that show the status of your order. They have a special Toronto only milkshake that makes me think of some kind of pretzel maple cereal, the chocolate milkshake is also make with milk and not custard and it is so creamy and perfectly thick. The cheese bacon fries are pretty good but I find the cheese gets a bit too much after a while so keep that in mind (very viscous fake cheesy taste that is good in smallish amounts).
Shake Shack has always been a hit for me, so I'm so glad they're finally in Toronto. Their burgers are consistently delicious, and I love that you can customize the toppings to your liking. The location is extremely busy but the wait time isn't too bad. I'm also a big fan of their fries and sweet tea their shakes are also really delicious. Definitely worth checking out if you're craving a good burger and shake. read more
We popped in here for lunch after visiting Pocket Planet. Great location! Nice, spacious with lots of seating. The issue with that seating was that none of it had been cleaned, so we took the best one and wiped it down our selves. The name boards were glitching so we had to go up and ask when our food would be ready. Once we got the food, it was delicious as usual. I tried the new Korean friend chicken and it was yummy but very saucy. Same with the Korean fries, yummy but way over seasoned. Next time I'll just stick with the Shack Burger! read more
I wasn't even planning to pop into Shake Shack but a sign advertising their Korean-inspired menu drew me in like a bear to honey. Everything sounded appetizing but I finally opted for the K-Shack Fried Chicken Sandwich ("Antibiotic-free, hand-breaded whole white-meat chicken breast glazed in spicy-sweet sesame gochujang, topped with fresh scallions and kimchi slaw made with Choi's Kimchi, served on a toasted potato bun"). The ordering process at this location couldn't be easier: you enter what you want at the kiosk, pay, and then wait. It only took a few minutes before my sandwich was ready. And it's a good sandwich. Those Korean flavors really shine through, and that coleslaw cuts the heavy sauce quite nicely. The chicken itself was on the extremely dry side but otherwise I really enjoyed this concoction. The seating upstairs and downstairs meant it was easy enough to grab a table, too. It's a solid fast-food joint. read more

3.5 stars. They have a pretty good ordering process. You can order at a tablet and take a buzzer. Once ready the buzzer will go off and you can pick up your order. The chicken nuggets are tasty but the breading fell apart. The shack sauce wasn't my favourite but you only get one sauce. Fries were good but not super hot. Went on a day where there was no line. Either I got there early or the hype has died down but was still busy inside. Ordering was straight forward using a tablet. Took a vibrator plate with a number and waited. Seating situation is like any other fast food joint, be a vulture and wait for people to leave their seating. While waiting a staff told me that the number system got disconnected and I needed to wait by the cash. Watched many people grab their order before me that all had placed their orders after me. Got my food and was impressed by the fries, ice cream and burger. Hot dog was a let down and could have gone without. read more
Finally made it to shake shack on the weekend after its grand opening. The line moved pretty fast, the longer part was waiting for our food to be done. The time we went they had a lot of menu items out of stock, which is frustrating. Tried the shack burgers and cheesy fries, nothing unusual. I'm pretty sure I had better burgers elsewhere. The tea itself looks modern and cozy, the place does feel a little squish if there were strollers near your sitting area. read more
This is the first shake shack in Canada. I've been to a couple locations from the states like Seattle and NYC. As expected there was a long line to enter, we waited for about 20 minutes. We had to order via a tablet and got a buzzer. The restaurant was fully packed and seats were mostly full. I didn't have to wait too long to get a seat though. I do notice the floor is quite slippery and so easy to get messes. The trays were also greasy. There are screens to see your name and status of your order. The food came within a reasonable time. We ordered these: Lemonade: This tasted sour as if it was freshly squeezed Shroom burger: This is just as good as the ones in the state Shack stack: It's very filling and pretty much the same thing as the shroom burger but add a cheeseburger patty Bacon cheese fries: I don't recommend, it just tastes like those frozen McCain fries Toronto exclusive: maple salted pretzel shake: This was very sweet and pretty heavy, I couldn't finish this I heart butter tart concrete: This was more salty than sweet. It's like a creamy salty but lil sweet ice cream. With some butter tart pieces inside. It melted pretty fast when I ordered so I ate it first. Overall I would recommend the shroom burger and lemonade. I would come back again to try other menu items. read more
Shake Shack is a Burger chain in the USA which has finally opened its first location in Toronto. I've been meaning to try this place for a while and boy am I glad I finally made the trip. I've been to multiple Shake Shack locations in the USA and the quality of the meat at this location is the best. The burger is juicy and flavourful without being greasy. It is cooked with a nice char and complimented well with the umami of the cheese and freshness of the available vegetable toppings to choose from. What really pushes the experience over the top is the excellent service. The ordering system is very quick and the staff are efficient at churning out the orders. So, despite visiting at the height of the dinner rush, I really didn't have to wait long before I got my food. The restaurant itself is very clean and there is ample seating, which the staff do a good job of turning over. I didn't have a problem finding a table to eat at. It can however get a bit loud due to the amount of people and proximity of the tables to one another. Overall, I was very pleasantly surprised. Good food and good service makes this a 5 star in my books. Looking forward to going back for another cheeseburger. read more
The Shake Shack opened across from the Eaton Centre at the beginning of the summer. It's the first time I been nearby so I just stopped in for supper. I got a Chicken Shack (crispy white-meat chicken breast over tomato, pickles, and buttermilk herb mayo on a toasted potato bun), crinkle fries and a Coke Zero for about $20. I'm not a big fry lover and I'd probably pass on them next time. The chicken sandwich was tasty and I would get it again. The many staff were friendly and helpful. read more
Tried Shake Shack in NYC and wasn't really impressed. Then the first Shake Shack in Canada opened its location in Toronto and wanted to try again to give them another chance thinking it will taste better. But I should have just trusted my gut instinct coz it's the same mediocre food or even worse than the one in the US. Went on a Friday at 2 pm and the lineup is relatively small. It took me a total of 20 mins - from lining outside, ordering inside with cashier and finally getting my order. And they're CASHLESS, only accepts credit/debit cards. Ordered their Shackburger Single patty, Crinkle Cut Fries and one of their Concretes, I Heart Butter Tart which is exclusive to Canada so of course I need to try this. I tried their milkshake in New York and wasn't a fan because of its artificial taste so I know not to order this again. For $8.49 the Shackburger was teeny tiny, I swear I ate it in 2 bites. The size of this burger is more in scale to a McDonald's regular hamburger than what you will consider a full sized burger. For this price you would expect a good quality burger but it was overwhelmingly mediocre and on the salty side. The crinkle cut fries is probably the worst fries I've ever eaten. Yes they're super crispy but tasted like rancid cooking grease from the oil. It's a hard pass for me! The I Heart Butter Tart frozen custard concrete is another disappointment. It was sickeningly sweet and the big pieces of butter tarts were so hard that it was not enjoyable to eat. I would have preferred that they have crumbled the butter tarts to add a chewy and crunch texture to the custard. Overall expensive, overrated, glorified fast food and just a one time thing. Considering there are way better local Canadian owned smash burger places in Toronto here's hoping Shake Shack doesn't become another Carl's Jr which is also an American fast food chain. read more

I have been WAITING for Shake Shack to come to Canada because it's my all time favourite fast food chain! I was so excited to try everything out and let me just say...it did not disappoint. I guess I'll j cut to the chase and start with the burger. I got the Double Shack burger and it was superb. Absolutely amazing. The patty was crispy yet juicy, just like they have it in America. I would argue that it's even better than the chains I've been to in the States because the meat seemed like it was sourced from a high quality supplier. The bun was so soft, so delicious. Everything about the burger was perfect. The fries of course were also impressive. Super crispy and a perfect pairing with the burger. I heard people didn't like the Maple Pretzel shake (unique to Canadian locations) but I actually quite liked it. It's was salty and sweet and pretty much exactly what I was expecting. Maybe it may not be everyone's favourite flavour profile but for me I also really enjoyed it. As you would suspect, the location on Dundas was packed but irrespective of how busy it was the staff was very attentive and helped me find a table and subsequently cleaned it right away. I thought the interior was nicely designed and there was a lot of seating. Ordering was also a seamless experience. Overall, I'm really excited to have the chain here in Canada and I look forward to more locations opening up! read more

Decent fast food spot! I've tried Shake Shack in the US but it's been a while and curious about the first location in Toronto. It's been busy for a few months but I feel like enough time has passed that it's more manageable now. Went on a Wednesday at lunch and there was no line up to enter. It took me a total of 10-15 mins to line up to order and get my food. Once you order, you get a buzzer to let you know when it's ready and your order is also on a screen to show order progress. le. Your Name - In Progress, Packed, Ready. I found staff friendly with service fairly speedy and efficient. I wasn't too hungry so l had the following: 1) Black and White Milkshake - Chocolate fudge sauce hand spun with our house-made vanilla frozen custard. 2) Cheese Fries - crispy cut fries with their cheddar cheese sauce. I think you don't even need the cheese sauce, good on its own! Would recommend trying as long as there is no line. read more
A lot of space to dine in and efficient service with self-ordering kiosks. The food was served so quickly. I was surprised by how organized they were. Ordered the double smoked pepper burger ($14) and the bacon cheese fries ($8). Everything was amazing here. Can't wait to come back! read more
I haven't had a Shake Shack burger since my first visit to NYC and that was almost 20 yrs ago if not more! So needless to say I was excited to try a burger at the highly anticipated Toronto location!! No line up, so fairly easy to enter. Stood in queue a few minutes and was handed a menu to study and then encouraged to use the order screen. I didn't see any combos so I just ordered a burger, fries and pop separately. Small pop seemed pricey at $2.99 and fries were just over $4. I went with the avocado bacon cheese burger (they had me at fresh avocado). And I can say that the meal did not disappoint! The burger was perfectly done. The avocado did taste fresh and you can tell it was slices. Bacon was perfect, burger patty tasted great as well. Bun held up. Crinkle cut fries were had a nice crisp. I could have done with 1/2 order fries as you get a generous helping. The restaurant is spacious with extra seating upstairs. Feels a bit chaotic but you get over it. Busy & buzzy atmosphere as people excitedly eat their food! Staff clear tables fast & someone comes round and asks if you want a refill & offers to clear up once you're done. Will definitely go back to try other Toronto specific items that are featured on the menu! Update.... Tried the chicken sandwich.... So good! Love the herb mayo, shredded lettuce and pickles. The line looks long but it moves fast thanks to self service kiosks. My order came pretty quick and the place has 2 levels of seatings I really enjoyed the shak burger - fresh, juicy and delicious! I enjoyed the crunch from the deep fried portabello. The fries were alright but the cookies and cream shake was decadent! I would eat here again read more

Located right at Yonge-Dundas Square, this Shake Shack offers a convenient spot to grab a bite. Once inside, you can order at one of the four self-serve kiosks or through the cashier. After placing your order, you'll receive a buzzer, and your order status is displayed on a TV screen. The process is efficient and well-organized. I tried the Original Burger, fries, and a hot dog. The food overall was solid, though with some minor drawbacks. The burger was flavorful but slightly on the salty and greasy side. Still, it's a decent option for a quick meal. The fries were good, though nothing particularly memorable. The hot dog, unfortunately, fell short of expectations. It had a gamey taste and didn't feel worth the price--this one is an easy pass. The space itself gets very crowded and chaotic, especially during peak hours. Despite having two levels, the interior feels cramped and a bit overwhelming. read more
Woohoo! Shake Shack has finally arrived in Toronto. This is located conveniently at Yonge and Dundas. A big location with plenty of seating. We lined up at the lunch hour and it took about 20 minutes till we got inside. There was entertainment including a rapper outside the storefront making rhymes about Shake Shack, and an artist drawing a Shake Shack mural on the sidewalk. Perfect spot for tourists. Once we got inside, we placed our order on the self checkout screen and picked up our buzzer. It was not a long wait after we had ordered. We tried the shake burger, smoke shack burger, avocado bacon burger and chicken burger. The burger had that charred taste as if it came straight from the bbq, and the sauce was so delicious! We also tried the crinkle cut fries with cheese sauce. The fries were crispy and the sauce replicated a Mac and Cheese sauce. I personally would opt for just the original fries next time as I found the cheese sauce a bit too salty for me. As for the drinks, we tried the Toronto exclusive item, which was the maple salted pretzel shake. Now I had one sip of this and it is way too sweet. This tasted like maple flavoured whipped cream in liquid form. Too sugary. The fifty fifty drink however was refreshing. This was half lemonade, half unsweetened iced tea. We also had unsweetened ice tea which was equally as refreshing on a hot summer day. I noticed on the menu they serve wine and beer as well if you're looking for alcoholic options. I would say this experience lived up to expectations, having tried Shake Shack in the US. If you are not a fan of big lineups though, I would wait a bit for the hype to die down before heading here. read more

Inconsistent with what they put on the burgers .. so disappointing went to the one in New York looking so forward to it opening here at Square One . It's like McDonald s you have to always check your order before you leave as they didn't put toppings on as I confused them and asked for avocado so I don't get tomato lettuce etc which normally goes on it . I finally went to see what the hype was all about and tbh there's so many better gourmet burger spots downtown. The burger was good, nice fluffy brioche bun and juicy flavourful patty but the fries were like frozen McCain fries with cheese whiz on top and the fries were cold. I do like the ordering system though, you order on an iPad and take a buzzer. I always prefer kiosk ordering so I can see the possible modifications and choose myself. read more
It's surprising to see such a low score as I had a great time at Canada's first Shake Shack! Considering it's placement in the core of the city, this Shake Shack location had a great environment. The seating is ample and spacious, staff are friendly, and the ordering experience was highly efficient. I tried a Shack Burger which was very good, though missing "something" in comparison to what I'm used to in the US. Still a good experience overall, though! read more
Stopped by to see what the hype is about. I can get the fuss over the fries as they were tastily seasoned and had a good size and cut. The Shackburger though was ordinary and there was nothing special with the shack sauce. And the Chicken Shack was really really dry. Won't be shacking up with this place anytime. read more
