Actually met the owner Tammy at a dog event in Ohio, and she told us about her shop in Richmond, Ind, which was on our way home via 70 W. She mentioned free pup cups for the doggos, too! When we got there, we realized it was only indoor seating, so we got our ice cream and pup cups to go and eat near the cars. (Cute little shop, though!) To start, the girl who took are order was not friendly at all. She looked like she hated her job. Not a good first impression. Then came the ice cream. We tried four flavors and all of them were terrible. They were incredibly over churned, which made they grainy/icy and absolutely disgusting. The peanut butter ice cream was also the only one of the four that had any actual flavor. Then of course is the fact that you sit there with the grumpy employees with no music playing in there. I finally managed to fit a stop at Ullery's into my schedule. I've been by here about a half dozen times, so I made it a point to squeeze it into my day. Fortunately, it was a warm sunny day which made it perfect for getting a cone "to go" and strolling about the Historic Depot District. The shop isn't very big, but does manage to have a variety of ice creams and sherbets. There is also a cluster of small tables for dining inside. I was helped fairly quickly by the staff behind the counter and I was soon on my way. I had ordered a Red Raspberry ice cream (single scoop) in a waffle cone. The cone fits in a sleeve that keeps any of the melted ice cream from dripping out. It also has a handle tab that makes it easy to peel off without it sticking to the cone. The ice cream had a tangy/tart element in the flavor and the raspberry pieces were bigger than I expected (some were like mini ice cubes or crushed ice). It wasn't the creamiest ice cream I've had, but on a warm day, I didn't mind it that much. It was a bit more refreshing than most. Overall, a good choice and fine tasting ice cream. Probably one of the most bland ice cream places I've had. Very few flavors and most of them are unappealing. The three I have had (sea salt caramel, cookie dough, and cookies and cream) are all very skimpy on the mix ins. The flavor is practically non-existent in the sea salt caramel. The texture is also not very good. It is more like a thick icee from the gas station than ice cream. Their ice cream is homemade, so I ordered the strawberry flavor, and it was probably the best I've ever had! The texture was a little different - not as creamy as some ice creams, kind of like sorbet or really thick milkshake texture, but the taste was amazing and it had real strawberry pieces in it. This little ice cream parlor is adorable and affordable! Popped in not sure what to really expect and it was so much better than I thought! It is decorated absolutely adorable! And extremely nice and clean restrooms. I ordered a Cookie Monster Sundae which is a scoop of cookies and cream and cookie dough ice cream, covered in Oreos and smothered in whipped cream. It was great! The ice cream tastes very much handmade and was a very generous portion for the cost. I will have to say the ice cream was very good but I have had better, but the better I've had was easily double the price and from a different parlor in Kentucky. All in all I highly recommend stopping by if you're on the hunt for some ice cream. The Richmond area in my experience doesn't have the best places to eat or get desserts. We stopped in today and enjoyed some really good ice cream. I had the honey ice cream in a waffle dish and my husband enjoyed a scoop of raspberry and a scoop of cookie dough ice cream. He liked both but especially enjoyed the raspberry. I loved the honey ice cream! It was delicious! The store is located in a neat area of Richmond with several restaurants and fun businesses. This by far is hidden gem in Richmond. The parlor its self is super adorable and very homie. Plus not to mention that the ice cream is amazing!! This is possibly the worst ice cream I've ever had. The consistency of the ice cream was incredibly icy rather than a good creamy ice cream, most likely due to cheap products. Secondly, the flavor was unbelievably fake. I bought Butter Pecan and the flavor tasted like it came straight from a bottle. The person I went with got Orange and it was just as terrible and fake. I would not recommend to anyone this shop, it's a waste of money (although inexpensive) and time. I'd recommend looking for any other place for ice cream, even McDonald's would be better. read more

Icy, mine had good flavor but I didn't get a lot for the price. I understand with this texture you can't pack like creamier ice creams but wow what a rip-off! They charge $2 if you get a regular cone, $2.50 for a styrofoam bowl but no you don't get more in a styrofoam bowl. Yes I asked. She looked at me like she didn't understand my question. For $2, I would have appreciated more but the server seriously looked like she was trying to touch the ice cream scoop as lightly as possible when she was scooping and appeared to get as much air as she could, instead of the product. I was seriously disappointed from watching her scoop the first one, then I had hopes for the second one but she actually dumped out one scoop to start again. "Oh, too much ice cream I need to try again." So I know she's told their goal here is to make a lot of money so make it look like a whole scoop but don't be generous. Not welcoming either if the other person there was the owner. Sad. So my first trip to Richmond zero for two. I'm feeling generous giving two stars.
