At this specific store I had a good experience looking for clean, hypoallergenic, gentle products. I am not a lady that normally shops high quality makeup products. Now hitting 30 my skin has changed, so I worked with Chat-GPT to find me products that fit my criteria. the only thing that chat gpt cant help me with is finding products for a "latina". I walked up to this latina esthetician only I didn't get her name. She helped me find a new foundation, matched my skin color & I genuinely love it. Yep, UPDATE: ULTA destroyed my hair permanently. I had thick, shiny hair. The woman who manages/labeled a senior consultant is dangerous. I have been an Ulta customer for years; however, I am beginning to question my loyalty. It used to be guests would be greeted when entering the store. That hasn't happened the past few times I've visited this location. I can't seem to find anyone interested in selling anything. Other than the Clinique rep, all other employees just wander around. They do not know the products like they used to. Check out takes a long time as typically there is only one cashier. GWP are never available, nor mentioned. Cleanliness of the store is at an all time low. Floors and wrap stands look nice and clean, but product testers look like garbage. Filthy with product all over the containers. The product displays need a good wipe down too. Selection is down as well. Products I can easily find at other cosmetic retailers. I love the rewards program! I normally go to the Ulta Beauty in Charlotte NC, however I was back home in IL at my parent's house for a month, and needed my touch up and pink retouch. I looked for the closest Ulta, and here I was. I spoke with Gayle, we consulted that day for an appointment on a later day in the week. Gayle inspired confidence within me, she not only spent the time consulting with me, but with other colorists as well. This inspired my confidence. Gayle was also aware that my hair was going to be an all day process, I had warned her well in advance that I have a lot of very fine, and very stubborn hair. Gayle and all of the other employees were champions, and everything was fantastic!! My hair is gorgeous, my experience was phenomenal and I would recommend them to everyone. However the sales rep Camille asked her to verify my rewards with my social security to have the opportunity to save 20% (red flag ) my daughter young and trusting did so and the sales representative illegally signed me up for a Ulta credit card! No Identification was requested, no mention of a credit card. The only thing offered was a discount! I am beyond livid, of course my daughter should have known better as well but that's for another time. Stores should not have dishonest sneaky employees working for them! This review is specifically for Gail who did my color about a month ago. She cleaned up a messy job done by another Ulta hair colorist (at a different location). I LOVE what she did. She really takes her job seriously. She's an actual artist when it comes to color. I will continue to return to her. Then unfortunately, I had a really bad experience in the salon when I had gotten a scalp treatment (only because they had informed me I could not purchase the actual nioxin product in the store from any retail establishment or online if you aren't a licensed stylist...which is completely untrue). The stylist left me sitting there alone for so long I had to go ask someone if she was still there because she literally forgot about me! After it was finally done my scalp was a mess because she left it on so long! Then she was super pushy trying to get me to reschedule more treatments! It was weeks before my scalp finally stopped flaking and peeling :/ Side note: I spent less than 10 bucks for the nioxin on Amazon and did it myself. Sooo it's been a while since I've wrote a review for anything on Yelp but the experience I had at this Ulta yesterday which was 8/20/2019 just forced me into having to write this..... Get ready this is going to be an interesting one...... It's probably been weeks, no lets say months since I've written a review but you ask why am I writing one now? Out of all places a review on a makeup store as well in which I know completely nothing about makeup and probably only stepped into to buy gifts for family members or my ex gf (haha, if you're someone I know keep the jokes coming in). Now onto the serious side, I was recently diagnosed with possibly having segmental vitiligo which is something correlated to pigmentation loss in skin. I have a very, very small area that needed to be covered up for an important event coming up and the staff here did a phenomenal job. I don't remember the names of who I worked with otherwise I'd include all their names onto this but stepping into the store I was a nervous wreck not knowing anything about makeup and they made everything a very pleasant experience. I don't know why this store has the negative reviews it does but the 2 makeup artists that I worked with, took their time into finding products that matched with my skin color and did such a phenomenal job in which that small section I had the vitiligo looked like my natural skin color after applying the concealer. You couldn't even tell makeup was on my skin. The associates walked through everything step by step on how to apply the concealer, the spray (I forgot what it's called, again makeup newbie), and the process on how to apply it. I still can't imagine all the negative reviews this place had but they look a bit to the older side so if you are looking for a makeup store, I'd definitely go to this location. The 2 makeup artists I worked with (one had black glasses and black hair, other one had shorter hair and looked fairly young, yea I know doesn't help much) did an amazing job and I hope to get their names so they get the recognition they deserve. Pssh even the cashier was super nice, whatever staff you guys had on 8/20/2019 for the closing shift, was the bomb.com 5/5 all day. I'll update this again if I ever need to go back and see the various associates I worked with but for now I'll end it off as Ulta on Randall Rd, thank you again for making a nervous experience into a pleasant one and helping me resolve a confidence issue I had with my skin for an important event coming up. I went there this morning to return one of the items I purchased the other day. There was some kind of event going on because there was about 10 or more people waiting outside the door before they opened. The guy that did my return was very rude and unfriendly. He didn't even look at me or acknowledge me when I asked him what was going on in the store today I asked him twice thinking he didn't hear me the first time and still he ignored me. The guy that was behind him, who I presume was the manager, realized the guy ignored me and ended up telling me about the event in the store today. At the end, the guy who did my return handed me my receipt and I said thank you and he didn't respond. I hate shopping at a place with rude customer service, I won't be back. My gf hasn't been here in years but today she went to pick up something for her eyebrows and she said some guy working there today (Sunday 2/24 at around 1:30pm) was so rude to her. He acted like he didn't want to help her even when another associate asked him to show her something he did so reluctantly. She also said that they had a lot of cheap brands she didn't like. I had a meeting in Algonquin but arrived super early for it. While sitting in my car, I took a gander at my makeup to make sure I still looked purty and presentable. However, I saw there was a Benefit counter inside the Ulta on Randall. Hello Benefit Brow Bar! I called and made an appointment. I saw a lovely esthetician named Billie, who whipped my brows into shape. I'm really particular about my eyebrows (even though I neglected them as of late) , but Billie did one of the best brow wax and shaping I have EVER had. If you find yourself somewhere in the Northwest suburbs looking like two caterpillars made their home on your face, I hope my review helps ! read more

RACIALLY PROFILED My sister gifted me a perfume that i didn't really enjoy the smell of, it was a too mature smell for myself, (19 yoa). I went into this store and explained to the employee I don't have a receipt since it was a gift and asked if we could do at least a store credit so I could exchange for a different perfume. She then explained to me since it would be a unidentified purchase they would give $10.78 back as store credit for a $80 perfume. I asked if we could use my sisters number to look it up since she used her number i know the worker could look it up, she refused to. I then said I will just take back the perfume and ask my sister if she has the receipt for it. As I was walking away another employee came up to the employee that was helping me and said exactly these words to her " Don't feel bad we don't know if she actually bought it or not knowing her kind" I was in shock when I heard those words come out of her mouth , I am a regular customer at this store and no longer will be supporting this company or store in general. I have never experienced anything like this ANYWHERE as a young Mexican girl I was very hurt and shocked that this is still happening in 2022 i thought we were passed this !! & this isn't the first time a customer has experienced being racially profiled reading past reviews from this store. I am STILL dealing with the aftermath from my visit to the Ulta Salon in July of 2015. I visited the salon for bayalage highlights on my long and thick hair. I'm not sure if Mary S. did not know how to properly COLOR a client's hair, let alone BAYALAGE it. The integrity of my hair is incredibly important to me and I have only ever gotten my hair colored at a salon. This was not the first time I have ever highlighted my hair, but it was definitely the WORST. Having just recently moved to the area, I was looking for a new stylist. I had visited the Salon at Ulta in Bloomington, Illinois and always had a great experience there, so my visit to the Algonquin store felt like a really safe bet. Unfortunately, the work Mary S. did to my head was just tragic. My hair looks like she lit it on fire. Having gotten highlights in the past, I can tell you that she definitely over-processed my hair and putting me under the heater only intensified the destruction of my once gorgeous hair. The worst part about this was that from the front, it looked okay, but once I left and was shown the BACK of my head, I started crying hysterically. Not only was my hair destroyed, but the color was uneven. Mary S. has zero integrity because she did not see her errors and make any attempts to fix my hair AND took my cash tip. After going home and seeing my hair breaking off into clumps, I contacted Ulta for a refund. Even seeing my hair in person, getting my money back was a fight. Mary S. tried to cover for her botched work by telling her manager that I had box colored my head prior to her highlighting (which is 1. NOT TRUE and 2. Interesting since the last time I got a color service was AT ANOTHER ULTA LOCATION WHICH THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO SEE CLEARLY IN MY ELECTRONIC FILE). Eventually, I got both a refund for the service and the cash tip back from Mary S. Brittany, the manager I dealt with, was exceptionally rude and laughed at the damage done to my head. As a result, I have not been to that location for any products since. I'd rather drive from Hampshire to Schaumburg. Even now in January of 2016, I'm still dealing with my hair breaking and falling out in clumps. After consulting with several independent stylists, there's not much to be done to my hair to reverse this damage. I can't style it without worsening the issue, and cutting would require me to go from a length past my chest to a PIXIE CUT. Looks like I just have to keep on conditioning it and deal with the hair falling out. All in all, I really think Mary S. should be FIRED. I'll attach a picture of her "work." Do not EVER go to Ulta Salon for a service. I'm so devastated. read more

First salon visit with Dara was wonderful! It's not easy to find someone that knows how to cut curly hair without making a mess. Since moving from Maine, I have tried MANY salons in the Chicagoland area, from the very high-end ($$$$) to low-end ($) looking for someone that could cut my hair. NO-ONE has been able to do what Dara did for me! She is/was/will always be my saving grace! It took 9 years finding her; I certainly won't let go! No more crying, no more wishing, and no more praying involved.. FINALLY, I found the one that understands my hair... I love my hairdresser, Samantha. She works in the Lacey WA store. I first saw Samantha with three different colors orange, silver and blonde. Yes I was using bleach from the box products. Samantha took her time and has restored my color and shine and my natural curl back to perfection. This process has taken almost a year, one visit every 4 months, but I LOVE MY HAIR AGAIN. Samantha is the BEST. SHE KNOWS EVERY COLOR AND CHEMICAL AND DO'S AND DONT'S FOR HAIR. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SAMANTHA FROM LACEY ULTA BEAUTY. I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH GREAT THINGS. The store is exactly what you expect from an ulta store... you can always find what you're looking for. Unfortunately the atmosphere created by the employees seems more like high school than a well run retail store. There are the nice girls that are really helpful and make the shopping experience fun and then there are the "mean girls" that stand around in groups talking behind the backs of other employees and ignoring the customers. Then I asked if there were any samples and she said we don't give samples.
