I went to InStyle Salon in JCP at the nearly dead Alton Square Mall as a walk in. I needed a color…read more& razor cut. The color was right on but I walked out in the middle of cut. The stylist was rude & hurtful. After I wiped my tears, I asked her to stop cutting and I was going to leave. I finished my cut at home. I called the manager and met with her in person to have her 100% attention. Noting how much I liked the color, she offered an "on the house" appointment with an amazing stylist. BAM! I walked into my apartment and was treated like a queen and I have been there since and I refer others to "MY Charlie" all of the time. He is phenomenal as a person, stylist, & all-around wizard. I have met the other stylist he shares a room with and everytime I go for a service, it's like I'm going to a party. My adult son (on the Autism Spectrum) sees Kristin & she makes sure that every detail is perfect. Along with Kristin and My Charlie in the "party room" is Andrew & Cameron and the work I see them do is superior. So yes, I recommend these stylish scissor wizards to anyone. As I sat down…read moreto write this review, I Googled Shear Excitement and found a review I wrote in December of 2006. In it I praised Pattie for great haircuts at a reasonable price. Almost 4 years later, I feel exactly the same way, except she has become more of a family friend who just happens to cut my hair. We always have great conversations. In the time I have been going there, I have held 3 jobs and finished 2 college degrees. She is always genuinely interested in what is going on in my life and I have always enjoyed hearing the stories of her family. When I arrive early, I always see the same types of interactions with her other clients. Her prices have remained almost unchanged since we started going to her ($15 for a guy's haircut with wash). Before we moved to Florissant in 2003, I was driving to a salon in West County and paying over $30 for a haircut that I wasn't as happy with. This was a case where paying more didn't mean better quality. I can't say enough good things about her and would recommend her to anyone.

Even before moving, I had done pretty extensive research for a trustworthy hair stylist in anticipation and Studio 89 was one of the top picks; even after monitoring my options over the span of a month, it remained the best. I tried to make an appointment online but had some technical issue so I called instead. This was all done the morning of, and yet they were able to have me come in later that afternoon. It's a clean, small space but it's got everything you can imagine. There's plenty of parking in front of the salon. Tiffany was my stylist, and I was warned that she was going to charge more than the other stylists due to her experience (note -- all stylists charge differently based on this). As a Californian who has paid way too much for the simplest of cuts, I can genuinely say Tiffany's surcharge was 1000% worth it. She was so kind and personable, and that really made the experience. She gave me her honest thoughts and was very communicative throughout the process. She really gave me the exact hairstyle I asked for after barely flashing her a photo, and I'm so endlessly impressed! Despite constantly cycling through short hair, I've actually never liked myself in it very much. However, Tiffany's work allowed me to feel more confident in rocking a short cut than I've ever felt! I've received tons of genuine compliments on her work, and I feel so lucky to have met her. Tiffany -- thanks for the sushi recs and candid conversation, and for being my first friend in St. Louis!

They double checked with me multiple times throughout the service whether it was cut or color. The salon is neat and tidy. They have an easy way to schedule appointments online so you don't have the hassle of calling people. The salon is based on appointments only so would highly recommend making an appointment prior to visiting.
