The salon is completely unorganized. On multiple occasions I've booked a service and they call me to either try to change my appointment to a wildly different date (come in a week earlier or later) or they just altogether cancel on me. Last time I had a haircut and blowout appointment, they cut my hair then said they didn't have time to blow dry. So I paid for a full service and left with wet hair. Every single time I do finally make it into the salon I overhear these girls trying to change appointments or fit people in or cancel them. It seems like they only work when they feel like it, if they have an appointment but don't wanna show up they just cancel everyone. Or they wanna leave early so they rebook people. I make my appointments based on my schedule, not theirs. I can't leave work to get a blowout cause someone wants to go home early. This has been a reoccurring issue at this location and I'm done trying. read more

Honestly Krystal and Giana were fantastic! Sweetest peaches ever! I normally go to Howell for my hair and brow needs but since moving to brick and needing to go to Toms River it was easier to stop here. I made an online appointment for brows and a blow out. First of all, Krystal literally is the first person EVER to make my hair pin straight exactly how I love it! She also encouraged me to vent when she saw I was thinking a lot too after getting very silent, that's the first time ever anyone has ever done that. And Giana is literally the sweetest. She helped me with my brows, even reassured me that I did my makeup good today, I adore her and this was my first time with her, plus she's super gentle too with the wax! I would leave 0 stars if I could. The workers here are SO RUDE. Very abrupt when you ask a question. Out of six people, there was only one woman who was decent and normal to me. Many of them look shabby and have poor attitudes. One lady told me that I can't test a nail polish, so I apologized and closed it. I asked her if she carried a similar Essie color named Angel Food, and she replied "We don't have testers for nail polish, you can't open them." And I literally replied "That's not what I asked you," then the other woman stepped in to answer my question. They're really pushing Julep for some reason. When my mother was asking about a waterproof eyeliner, they also tried to offer up some Julep nail polish. Really pushy with that line of cosmetics. I kept asking another employee for a light, easy to spread BB cream, but she kept pushing different Clinique foundations. She really wanted to test different foundations to my skin tone on my face when I kept telling her I didn't want to put them directly onto my face -- I wanted to try the consistency on my wrist first. The store itself is beautiful and new so it's a shame that the environment created by ulta employees is so unwelcoming and unpleasant. read more

I want to make clear that I am rating the full time Esthetician who worked (works? I'm not sure whether or not she's still there) in the back. This review is a bit late, but I got several services from her last year, and they were wonderful. The product lines she used were great on my skin, too, which can be very sensitive, and the professional attention she gave me were well worth the visits. I wish I could have made it back to her, but my work caused me to relocate. She was awesome!!! The store itself was never welcoming to me, although I wanted to spend money in it. Ulta in Brick is the absolute greatest. They are fantastic with advice on products, always happy to help with returns, and just have generally amazing staff. Jenny in the salon is a STAR...I love everything she's done to my hair, and I won't go to anyone else. Was sooo annoyed. First, I couldn't find where in the store to go for my facial waxing appointment. It was in the middle of the store! Gianna had a bit of an attitude when I pointed out there was no signage. After I sit in a very uncomfortable chair, she tells me that I can't get waxed if I've used a retinol product in the past 3 days!!! My daily routine includes a retinol serum. I pointed out that the website said nothing about this when I booked the appointment. She just shrugged. I asked if she could pass on a suggestion to management that the website include such a notice. "I guess so" was her answer - I doubt she ever did. Not really into customer service, I guess! Very disappointing because I was looking for a new place as an option for hair, nails, wax, cosmetics, etc. I can't imagine ever setting foot in an ULTA again. When I get to the section, it's very skin of products.. ok.. I ask a sales rep in my area if she knows where I can find it. "This is all we have." I love this store because I'm able to purchase my favorite Mario Badescu products locally. Otherwise, this store is super expensive. I used the salon when it first opened and the manager refunded me because it was a disaster and needed to go get my hair done again elsewhere. I tried the hair salon again recently in hopes since it was more expensive it would work out. My blowout was a disgrace. I payed, didn't complain, hard lesson learned. I moved here in December and blindly went to get my hair done a few weeks later. Alexandra was amazing- personable and professional and amazing at hair!!! I wanted to come back sooner for color, but because of covid, I had to wait. Ulta has great covid guidelines- everyone is masked and spaced out. Everything is sanitized. I'm immunocompromised and felt very safe there. This time I had some idea of what I wanted (low maintenance and some length chopped), and Alexandra executed perfectly above and beyond what I imagined. I can't believe I watched the people here kick a woman out of the store. Normally I'd give ulta such a great review, but the people in this store were just so unbelievably rude. I even called corporate. Holiday hours said 11 pm on the phone for a Wednesday evening. This lady locked the doors at 10 pretended not to hear me knock, and then yelled at one of her employees that opened the door who was telling me to call corporate. I'm livid I usually love shopping at ulta, but I'll hold my breath next time I go into the brick store again. read more

This place is dangerous. I walk in needing one thing and walk out with 15 different things lol. I love Ulta. It carries some brands that Sephora doesn't. There is a security guard that follows you around while you are shopping, and sometimes it gets uncomfortable. It's like they think you are there to steal. Wish Brick had better shopping for beauty products. They are always out of stock on whatever brings me to the store in the first place. Today I asked about a product & got the old " if it's not there we don't have it". I asked her to come and look for me. She says " no we don't carry that" when there was a giant tester in front of her face! I said " are they located anywhere else in the store?" She says" no". All Ultas are not alike. Although the physical store itself is the nicest of the ones I have been in lately (because it is the newest) the sales help leaves a lot to be desired. Not only were they not helpful, when I finally chased someone down to ask if they had more of a product that wasn't out on a shelf (thinking maybe in a drawer or in the back) I was told "if there isn't any out then we don't have any more." Without even looking to see what I was asking about. And the cashiers were not any better. Not only were they not friendly but they certainly weren't presenting themselves as anyone I would want to take style advice from. Listen, I know in different areas different styles are the norm but I can't imagine that bleach stains on clothing, messy hair and garish make-up are really going to help sell anything to anyone. read more

The Salon in this place is a complete train wreck. They charge you high quality salon prices to have a student in training to get their degree type service. They have no idea what they are doing. You are better off getting a chimpanzee to do your hair for you because I guarantee it will come out better than the work they do there. I highly think Ulta should reconsider the whole "Salon inside of the store" idea. Stick to what you are actually good at.. which is selling beauty products. Instead you hire complete idiots to do customers hair- wreck it and cause that person to never buy products from you again. I would not recommend the professional services at the Brick Ulta. Their staff is unprofessional and appear to be inexperienced. The stylist used enough bleach to burn my scalp, and when I spoke to the manager about it, they told me this was normal. Additionally, my haircut was uneven and choppy, which was unfortunately nothing like I asked for. Fortunately, I have gone to a much nicer, more professional salon to get these problems fixed. I wouldn't bring my dog here for a cut. In addition, I reached out to corporate, who promised a gift card that was never received. So I decided to make an appointment to get a balayage done.. This was the worst experience ever! The woman who did my hair was nice but you could tell she had absolutely no experience doing hair. Seemed like she just graduated from school... I showed your a picture of what I wanted done and not only did I end up getting my whole head bleached I walked out with orange and green hair! I have dark brown hair naturally. I did dye my hair red about 6 months ago but a lot of that faded out. Initially she told me that it would still be a little red but it would end up turning out light brown in the end with toner.. I told her this would be fine thinking she knew what she was doing... Oh boy was I wrong! Amanda the hair dresser ended up ruining my hair... my hair was so silky soft when I went in and came out with straw like hair from all the bleaching she did.. So not only do I have multi colored hair now its completely fried.. At the end of the appointment she ended up telling me I will need to come back in a month to get it lightened again to get all the red out. If i knew from the beginning I would be walking out of the salon looking the way I did I would have never went through with this... Also, my co worker who came with me to get my hair done got a simple root touch up and a cut. She noticed today that her bangs were cut completely crooked. To add to all this stress at the end of the night she asked the hair dresser before she got her hair done if her husband could pay over the phone with a CC and she said absolutely that she would print out a ticket and we can just bring it to the front and they will take care of us. We get to the front and her husband is on the phone ready to pay for the service and they say they can not do that...My co worker didn't even have another form of payment on her. They didn't even apologize to us about all the confusion. They just ended up staring at us like we were criminals. I will NEVER go back to this Ulta or salon ever. I have a call out to the district manager waiting for a response. I will be asking for a full refund and stopping payment on my CC for all this hassle. I have never felt so mortified leaving a salon or business in my life. PLEASE IF YOU ARE READING THIS DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR DONE HERE OR SHOP AT THIS STORE.
