I went to the hair salon at ulta (at casa paloma). I hadn't had a haircut in over a year, due to the pandemic. Callie was my hair stylist and she did an AMAZING job! I absolutely love my haircut. She listened to what I requested, and executed it with ease. Callie was kind, friendly, and efficient. I really appreciate the great haircut. After my haircut, I went shopping around and a super nice lady asked me if I needed some help. I told her I was looking for some eye cream to get rid of my dark circles. Turns out, she was working at the Clinique counter,?and she recommended some eye cream that turned out to be perfect! I am really happy with the peptide eye cream that she recommended. Off to the checkout, and the woman who rang me up was so nice! I will forever be loyal to this Ulta. Truly excellent customer service! read more

My girlfriend ordered me a cologne for curbside pickup as a gift for me. It said they had it in stock and what not and then the order was completed which was awesome. Then she gets a email saying canceled. I called just in case and the lady said "yes it was canceled but I don't understand because we do have it and it does say completed so just show up and we will figure it out", then she also went on to say "the manager has been canceling a bunch of orders online without verifying what's on the shelf, she just is canceling them for what feels like no reason". So I show up and I talk to the worker Loren, who was so helpful. We find that the order was canceled but she helped. She was such a sweetheart. And we walk over to the shelf and grab it and I ended up paying for it which is whatever. But the fact is how lazy and ignorant can a manager be? She can't get her fat a** up and make sales? Ulta is losing money because of her. Loren, should be in charge of that place. Not the lazy manager who is in that position. read more

I'm only commenting because my experience was so horrific I want Ulta to know exactly why I will not shop there for some time to come. I got my hair cut twice a year for over 15 years at this Ultra. They use to be located a mile west from where they are now. I called early to get this appt. I just need the layers put back in my hair. But instead I got berated and lectured by two young ladies who were self-righteous and sanctimonious in their assessment of who I was and what I needed before they asked me a single question. The stylist did not introduce herself to me but rather lectured me on how dry my hair looked and how all my split ends were caused by drug store shampoo. I was told numerous times to stop talking because she wanted to finish her speech about how I needed to use better shampoo and she corrected me that I did indeed have too many split ends and I Needed 1/2 inch to 1 inch more cut off. When I could no longer control my eye rolls because I was trying keep my comments to myself, I was dismissed and she told the appointment gal she would not cut my hair. I was okay with that. But the second young lady started to lecture me about how I need to come in every 6-8 weeks. I just stated that get a haircut twice a year. I also tried to tell her I just had my hair cut and I just need layers put in. Again, I think I was told to stop talking so she could continue with scolding me, at least 5 or 6 more times. Each time, it was communicated with more attitude and one hand palm gesture to my face. She ended her conversation with me by telling me it is unfortunate that I cannot control my attitude and that she is sorry that I have such a problem. Oh really? I was holding my tongue until the bitter end. And I assure you, these ladies were a bitter pill and I suffered greatly. Needless to say, my cheese levitated off my cracker with such force I jumped out of my chair and told both of them I have never be treated so poorly in my life! The store manager tried her best to get me a haircut for later, but they were booked. She did suggest the Arizona Hair Co at Tempe Market Place. I met Nikki Campbell. She was awesome! She said I had no dead split ends, she didn't need to take an inch more off my hair and talked to me like a person and not some stupid customer who needed schooling on how to care for her own hair. Nor did she argue with me about how often I get it cut!! Ulta, I will be getting my hair cut at the Arizona Hair Co. My experience was so horrible, it is unlikely I will ever return. It was humiliating, it was aggressively angry and you know what? If I only need a hair cut twice a year, I don't need some young 20 something telling me how it needs to be her way. I was so upset by the time I left... I could barely speak. And that's saying a lot since I work in media and marketing. Those women were not just unprofessional and mean, they were full of themself on a power and ego trip. I just wanted a hair cut. And both of them teaming up on me like an episode of The Kardashians. I'm too old for that crap. And honestly if these are the type of people you hire.... You've got Bigger problems. I doubt you'll miss me. But you know what.... I was loyal. You can check my records. I go Waaaay back. And I almost forgot....I still came back after having one of your stylist cut off all my hair. Literally, I had hair down to my shoulders and it was cut to 3 inches from the top of my Head to my neck. But this time... It was too much. Stop hiring children with zero customer serve skills. But you know what, that wouldn't be an issue if you just hired decent kind human beings who enjoy their job to be friendly and practice asking the customer what "they" are looking for. read more

I've been to Ulta before to get stuff over the years. I love coming here because I feel like they carry the whole gamut of product that you can't necessarily find elsewhere. Yes, they also carry products that are sold at other stores, but they have an awesome selection of product that you can't just find anywhere (like Target etc) They have a little bit of everything, and over the years, I think they've added more. Makeup, tons of hair product, accessories like brushes, flat irons and the like. I really do love shopping here. The downside is that their a bit pricey. Obviously it hasn't stopped me from shopping here, but they aren't cheap. Also, I used to purchase Jonathan products here, and was looking for some more when I came in, but they don't carry it anymore. When I mentioned it to the girl, she gave me some garbled answer about them not having carried it for a few years now. Um, I didn't buy it THAT long ago, and I can't imagine Jonathan's product pulling their entire line?!?! I can always go on Amazon and get his stuff anyways, but I really liked his product. Oh well. I didn't have any problems with service this time, but when I asked for a certain product, one girl looked at me and was like "wtf are you talking about? I've never heard of that." The other one stocking overheard me and we asked where the product was and she walked us right over to it. Random. Either way, I do shop at Ulta when I need specific products and love how the store is set up. Will continue shopping here (ok, maybe not at this location) but their brand as well, so keep up the good work! read more

This is probably the best Ulta I have been to in awhile I'm live closer to another location and they are always out of everything and when you ask the staff for stuff they act annoyed or seem grouchy when you do. I think I'll drive the extra mile, staff was courteous and super helpful to my needs and was happy to answer any questions I had ! Plus !!!! They have tons of options for morphe make up ! I've been shopping at Ulta for years and this one is no different than all the others, some good high end products and some good drugstore items as well. The sales reps here are always willing to help you out IF you can find one and sometimes they won't leave you alone so you can browse, it's like constant chirping in your ear that won't stop but if you can escape them it does get better. Product knowledge really depends on who you're talking with, I recommend doing your research before you shop here because they do tend to act like typical sales people and steer you to what THEY know rather than what you may want. read more

Don't waste your time at this salon. All they know how to do is trim long hair about an inch. Anything else you want is way above their training. Terrible at color, cut or style.......and the cost is astronomical for a bad cut, lousy color, and extremely poor customer service. Not worth any of the cost they charge. I went to go see Chelsie ( I think I was misspelling it last time) for the second time tonight! She really is so friendly and so good at what she does! She is upfront about what would be best for my hair (preserving healthy hair but maintaining lasting color), but delivers it in a way that does not feel like pressure. **Side note: at the deli counter at Safeway the other day and asked for 2 lbs of shrimp. I could tell he didn't want to help me because he was in the middle of something else... so he suggests I get the bag of shrimp in the frozen section for the same price. When I politely said no thank you he glared at me as if to say, "you're loss, sucka!" A helpful tip is always welcomed, but its all about the delivery. To me, it felt like he just wanted what was best for him! OK Rant over and back to hair... It really is like hanging out with a friend and getting your hair done! Point being, she takes pride in giving you what you're looking for, talks about options, doesn't make you feel rushed, or foolish if you don't exactly know what you want or need yet, and just talks you through everything. Again, I am the "hair cut every 6 months, maybe" girl so twice in less than 3 months is astonishing! I left tonight feeling fresh and shiny for the new year!! I am absolutely livid. I went in for a body wave and came out with a tight perm. I thought well, maybe it will loosen up. Nope. I even said something when the rollers seemed too small for a wave. She assured me it would be beautiful. And, well, since she is the professional, I let it continue. And on top of that, my hair is trashed. It is so damaged, it's mushy. This was absolutely the worst experience ever. I left puzzled because it was so tight and my hair felt so weird. But she assured me it was perfect and that it would loosen up. Nope. Update: my hair was completely ruined and I was advised to SHAVE MY HEAD!! I just can't believe it. So here I am with not even an inch length of hair on my head! I've been here twice with two different associates and both trips my match was spot on! I know it's a struggle looking for our perfect match and most times I feel like places just pick a "brown" color, and throw it at us to buy. They really take care of their girls here! She knew what to do to fix a terrible haircut I had gotten 2 weeks ago at another salon, reminiscent of a mullet or wedge, which is certainly not what I wanted or asked for and not anything like what could be considered a current style for at least the last 30 years. DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR CUT HERE. I didn't listen to the reviews, and I didn't listen to friends. I was in desperate need of a cut and my regular salon was all booked. Out of my impatience, I was given the worst experience in the history of my hair cuts. Don't remember her name (go figure) but she didn't listen to a thing I said. I wanted a specific type of cut but she literally cut a straight line across my shoulders. WAY shorter than what I asked for and no style at all. Absolutely ridiculous. I asked her to fix a few things that she could and she didn't even do that. She said with my type of hair, it's impossible to have the cut I want. I have regular, wavy hair. It's not curly, it's not pin-straight.....it's one of the most COMMON types of hair! Yeah freakin' right. When I went to go pay, they didn't let me use my coupon for first timers at the Ulta Salon. I was supposed to get 30% off (I had the code on my phone) and the woman at the register said it was invalid. Didn't tell me why, and the manager wasn't on site. Weird! I called later to complain to the manager and she said I shouldve been able to use my coupon code and she would take a look at my hair to "fix" it. Told me to come in before they opened the next day. Well, I came, and knocked on the door....no answer. I was so fed up. NEVER again. The only reason I go to Ulta is to buy products I can't find in drug stores or Sephora. And most of the time I order online anyway. They should seriously evaluate their employees on a regular basis to weed out the terrible ones. I'm sure their ratings wouldn't be as bad. read more

I had a few bad experiences with this salon and can not recommend it. First, I had a hair appointment a few months ago. When I showed up I was told that the hair stylist had left early and there was no one available to do my hair. I understand things happen but I don't understand why I did not receive a phone call to cancel my appointment and save me a trip. It wasted an hour of my day to show up for an appointment that they could not honor. I decided to give them another chance because I've been going to other Ulta Salon locations for over 10 years and that was my first bad experience. I made an appointment for a haircut and partial highlights online. The scheduler listed a price of $145 for the highlights when I made the appointment. However, when I arrived the stylist told me it would be $120 per hour and would probably take 3 hours but could be more. I found this very confusing and when questioned she explained that since I had done a gloss a year ago I needed color correction. I know I am not an expert but it does not seem like a having a gloss done such a long time ago should turn a $145 highlight job into a $360 or more highlight job. My hair was not damaged or suffering from a bad color job. I just wanted to change things up and get some highlights for the summer. She also asked me to sign a paper that I would pay $120 per hour but could not tell me how long it would take as I could be unhappy and it could take several hours to fix. This made me really uncomfortable. I really feel like a stylist should know how long and how much it would cost to do some partial highlights without having the client in the dark about the cost. It all seemed really strange and I've never experienced anything like this before. The whole experience was really confusing and uncomfortable and I left feeling disappointed. I will definitely not be going back to this salon and will probably avoid all Ulta locations now. read more

Another amazing experience at this place! This time it was the lovely Vivian and LV who treated me with kindness and care as well as shared a wealth of knowledge. Vivian helped me find a bronzer to avoid buying a new foundation for the summer. I work outside and tan really easy. She also helped get the right tool for the job(brush). LV, like Elvis! She is a treasure and you must make an appointment to see this brow goddess. She didnt shame me for my brows that barely made it thru the 90's and was so encouraging and an absolute delight. Do it. So I was browsing around with products in my hand and I guess I was taking too long to check out and apparently that makes you look "suspicious " and they will start harassing you by following you around the store and speaking through their microphone like giving the other co workers a hint that I was lift shopping. I over heard her speaking to the microphone and telling someone the isle I was in. They kept asking if I needed help at almost every isle I would go and I understand it is their job but when I entered the store they didn't even acknowledge me, again until apparently I looked "suspicious ". Today I went to two different Ultas to pick up orders from the past couple days (curbside, because they still believe masks work and I'm not stupid). The first store would not hand me my item, but instead ignored my outstretched hand and tossed my order on the car seat next to me. So when I got to the 2nd store and the employee asked me if I could roll down the backseat window for my order, I wanted to scream (I was alone in the car). I tried to ask why they couldn't just hand customers their orders and he said "I can't because of Covid." That's when I realized this idiocy is company-wide. Not only do you apparently employ people that are afraid to think for themselves and call out nonsense, but you've successfully scared them all into thinking they will die if they accidentally graze a customer's hand (newsflash- if they GASP touched my hand by mistake when handing me my bag, THEY COULD WASH THEIR HANDS.) I have never in my life been so livid with a company that I would boycott them forever, until today. Pros: big store, helpful, quick check out lines, Clean. Although I have cons about the color correction lady she did pick out my right shade. I was asked if I needed help but not bothered so I was able to look around and enjoy. Cons: we had 1 worked be not so friendly to us. The color correction staff was rough on the skin and had so much makeup on that looked the wrong color for her as if oxidized on her so I was nervous. I had the worst shopping experience this past weekend at this Ulta. Never in my whole life have I felt so discriminated against. This weekend my friends and I were shopping at this location as the loyal customers that we were. We noticed that two of the sales people were watching our every move as if we were going to steal something. Mind you - we are not teenagers - We are grown women with very lucrative jobs! My friend asked a sales lady if she was following her, to her dismay the response was "are you following me?" My friend replies with "do you think I'm going to steal this makeup?" Sales lady: "I don't know" Very inappropriate and unprofessional response seeing as my friend makes more money than the people working in the store. All of this was going on while there were about 7-10 other shoppers in the store being left unsupervised. When we brought our concerns to the Supervisor on duty (Sandi) she was useless. She proceeded to thrown her employee (Lorraine) under and even called Lorraine "unprofessional." As we continued to reach a resolution the only thing Sandi was worried about doing was throwing her employee under the bus. Sandi took NO responsibility for her action during the discriminating situation. She was the one that called Lorraine from the salon to come watch us. I have NEVER in my entire life been humiliated and discriminated against like I was at this store. They lost a very loyal customer, and although I am only one voice if they continue to perpetuate this behavior more and more people will complain and they will have to change their corporate culture. I hope that their management team really takes a look at their procedures to ensure that nobody else will ever have to go through the same thing my friends and I experienced. Good selection of cosmetics, fragrancies, shampoo and all things hair plus a salon (not to be confused with a saloon). I love any place that has a tester for everything. How do you know unless you test? I normally buy my foundation from a line they do not sell here but costs a lot of money. Sometimes though, after watching Suzy Orman, I feel guilty for how much I spend on said foundation and decide "I can live with the inexpensive brand, they say it's all the same" (we'll discuss that topic later). So I go to Ulta to try the normal drugstore brand, unlike going to a drugstore and hoping I buy the right color, I can actually get what will be best for me. Bonus to all of this? Points. I collect points for all I buy and get free stuff. And I like free stuff, you should too. Bonus bonus: look for the coupon. Really, you should'nt be shopping without them, but Ulta has one a week, thus making it easy to show up at least once a week, right? read more

The first time I was on hold for 8 minutes and the second time she transferred me and it rang and rang until it went back to the main menu. I must confess- this was the first time i've ever gotten my hair done at someplace that didn't have "Clips" or "Cuts" or "Cutters" in the name. My hair was getting way too long and ragged and I wanted to do something different, but not drastic. One day, I got it. Bangs! Not the kind I had as a kid, but the wispy messy side-part kind. I usually only got a straight trim, so ability was never an issue in the past- anyone with a pair of scissors could cut my hair for all I cared. But something like this- I know you can screw that up! I decided I deserved a treat and would go somewhere nice- I was starting to look into other places but while browsing the weekly ads, I saw Ulta had a deal for $20 for a first-time haircut. This was too good of a deal and a good chance to try somewhere new, so I called and booked right away. Later that week, I went in and was met by my hairstylist, Martha. She introduced herself and sat me down and we went over my hair. I had brought in a picture of what I was after and she discussed layer lengths with me, then cut a small section of my hair. Next, I got a nice but brief shampoo, and then back to the chair. Martha was very meticulous with getting my hair even and my layers perfect- I have thick wavy hair so they have to be chunky so they don't get all poofy and feathered. We got to the bangs, and she knew exactly how to cut them perfectly- I'm in love! She finished drying my hair and did some basic styling, and I was good to go. A great first experience. I feel like I now have a "hair place" to go to, and look forward to coming back soon! The prices are on the low end of salons in the area, and for the quality seems to be well worth it. read more

I was in this location on November 9, 2013. I waited about 15 minutes to be helped. A nice young girl at the register was trying to finally help me when her manager, LIZ, via the earbuds, asked her to stop helping me. She had to immediately walk away and go back to the register (Which seemed uncesssary to me when there were 2 other employees working the registers without a line). I proceeded to talk with LIZ, and she apologized that I was inconvenienced, yet did not offer to help answer my questions or even walk over to assist me choosing my daughter's first make-up compact. I needed professional care, and she could have cared less. Maybe she could have requested the young employee return to the register after she finished helping me? I gave her my bags of items I wanted to purchase and walked out. (After I told her how poor her decision was and treating her employee and me poorly.) The next day I went to another Ulta in Chandler, AZ and the male manager was so kind. He was appauled by LIZ's behavior and said this is not the policy of Ulta. I write this to warn you, that if you go to this Ulta location, you will receive poor customer service. By the way, it would help if Ulta would be better about keeping enough item of their own brand cosmetics in stock. It seems every time I go, they have a poor selection. read more

I never thought I would review an Ulta. I mean they're all pretty similar from location-to-location. However, this location deserves a review. I had used my 20% off of everything coupon awhile back and stocked up on my foundation. I got home and realized that the foundation I had picked up was not the one that I had wanted. Which is fine, I can return the foundation, but I would have to return it for a DIFFERENT kind and they probably wouldn't honor my 20% off still. So, I returned to the store and the make-up artist told me that my foundation had been discontinued and that's why I had picked up the wrong one. The make-up artist was extremely helpful and found me a foundation that would be similar to the one that had been discontinued and color matched my skin tone prefectly.
