I would give 0 stars if I could. I called prior to making my appointment and asked specifically if they had someone that could it a pixie style haircut. She said yes we do. She placed Me with Sarah. I get to the salon and Sarah greeted me kindly. I showed her 2 different pictures. She said ok, she shaved my sides but the sides were not tapered like they were supposed to be , she started cutting it and like the 1st picture, which was longer than the second picture. She messed that one up and tried to cover it up, I agreed to go shorter like the second picture which was quite a bit shorter and I walked out with a short flattop for a freaking man. She knew I wasn't satisfied and her response was well at least I nailed the sides. I held back my tears, and wanted to get out of her chair before I ended up with a shaved head. I walked up to pay and she hovered until she saw me tip. WTH. Please if you are not competent enough to cut the style just say so. I would have had way more respect than you proceeding and giving me a flattop. For future DO not cut someone's hair if you are not comfortable doing so and then say well at least I got part of it right. Do not go there. I want my money back what a nightmare. read more

Candace is my GO 2! I moved to Tukee area from west Phoenix 8 months ago and from the very beginning I knew she was going to be my new stylist. I go in every 2-3 months for a deep conditioning & trim she brought my curls back to life and has my hair growing past my shoulders since. What a great place! I booked an evening appointment on short notice (and was able to get a day and time that were perfect). I was greeted pleasantly at the desk, and then Melissa took me back for a quick consult and very thorough shampoo. She understood exactly what I wanted (about 5 inches off my long hair that was driving me crazy) and finished the cut in no time. She's wonderful--friendly, east to chat with, and extremely efficient. Even with all the chatting, I was done in a half hour and have a perfect new style. It was late in the evening and pretty quiet, but the salon has a friendly, laid-back vibe that's feels welcoming. I'll be returning to this salon for sure! read more

I got a wash and trim from Desiree and had a weird experience. I sat down and told her what I was wanting and she says loudly, "OK, I just need to check if you have bugs first"... I was kind of shocked she said that, I never really had someone tell me they had to check before.. Later, while washing my hair she told me she had a dream that someone she went to high school with came in for a haircut and she had a bunch of lice, and that she was just talking about that with the receptionist and so that's why she said it so loudly, "so she could laugh". There were a few kids sitting in the waiting area, which might have been her kids or something and my boyfriend was also sitting in the siting area which kind of made me embarrassed. I'm not a Karen, so I didn't react in any way, and just went along with the wash and cut, but it all just felt like mean girl energy. I understand checking without saying anything and then privately telling the client that you can't do the haircut, but this was not that... this was meant to make me the butt of a joke, ultimately making me feel uncomfortable afterward. The trim was good, so I did 2 stars, but I won't be back because of my weird experience with the stylist being unprofessional. read more

Aleana was great! She knew exactly what I wanted from my description (sporty, above the shoulders, shorter in front, even along sides and back, and slight layers). She even designed the cut around my natural hair part and layout so it's great to not have to worry about struggling to style it. Literally the fastest, most half-a$$ed haircut I have received in my life. Backstory: My hairdresser retired a few months back and I haven't found someone new to replace her. I was talking to a family member about needing a haircut and she suggested I come here and go to her stylist Stacy as she's been seeing her for years and that she's always done a great job. I looked up reviews and saw nothing but 5 stars so I figured it was a good bet. I called and booked an appointment and let the receptionist know I wanted a shampoo/cut/style with Stacy. They even called to confirm the appointment the day before which I thought was fantastic. The day of, I got to my appointment at 3:50pm (I was scheduled at 4:00pm). Stacy seated me at 4:05pm. I sat down and we discussed what I was looking for: cutting off dead ends, styling and adding layers. I have slightly below shoulder length hair- so not super long hair, but not something like a pixie cut either. I referenced the type of layering by showing her a video. She asked if I wanted a shampoo, which I thought was strange but figured hadn't been communicated, so I let her know I did. After the shampoo she went in and cut my ends. She only made one pass during this- she never went back to check the length between both sides or make any adjustments. Next she got thinning shears and added in layers. I let her know I part my hair down the middle, but it seems like she picked up random sections and thinned my hair out that way (she didn't section my hair out at all). She also didn't check one section against another to check for inconsistencies. Once she was finished she told me my hair would feel much lighter. I paused for a minute because I thought she would be styling and dry cutting to even it out, but no. She never offered - and at this point I didn't suggest it because I was kind of floored. I walked out of the salon at 4:25pm. That was less than 10 minutes total spent cutting my hair. I got home and blow dried and styled it and really assessed damage. The right side of my hair is definitely thinner than the left side which I can both see and feel. I definitely got layers, but they are uneven and because there was no sectioning done it would be hard to fix. I'll be wearing my hair up until it grows out long enough to have someone else fix it. I don't know if she was just having a bad day or what but this is one of the worst haircuts I've ever gotten. If I wanted a choppy, uneven, speedy job I would have gone to SuperCuts or have just cut it myself. I had really high expectations considering I had a glowing recommendation but I'm incredibly disappointed and won't be returning. read more

My hair was a tangled disaster after 5 days at the hospital and I was desperate to get it combed out. I called Great Clips in the Ahwatuckee plaza and the manager said they weren't willing to touch my hair so I went here instead. Isis was very gentle and managed to get out the rat's nest and cut about 10 inches of hair off. It's adorable and she was even fine with me staying in my wheelchair for the cut. She was so nice and offered her recommendation for my cut to get the most dead ends off and checked with me to make sure it wasn't too short. I went with her recommendation and after her first couple of snips she had me look again to make sure I was still okay. She decided to help the front desk gal re-stock the dye cabinet, take out the trash, everything but cut hair. We had an appointment and I just don't understand why you would choose to help someone restock the dye cabinet when you have a client waiting. I don't have a problem waiting longer if they are busy but they weren't. We ended waiting 30 minutes for our appointment. Not the best customer service. We won't be back. read more

I called to schedule and confirmed pricing for a wash and style ($27) and confirmed they can do curly hair, in the chair I wasn't consulted what hair style I wanted, where to part my hair, but I was insulted a few times of how much hair I have and how I needed a haircut. At check out I was told it would be $60 for the service?? I ended up leaving paying $45 rather then the $27 I was quoted. Called back to talk to the manager about the experience and off the bat she assumed I wanted a refund, only thing that was offered was a callback from the owners, haven't heard anything yet. I have been here a handful of times just because the convenience location for me. Each time has been with a different stylist, and each time I have been disappointed. I am not one to complain but today's service was absolutely terrible. Not only did I leave without the cut I wanted (stylist mentioned next time, they could add more layers... I've been putting this off because I hate to leave bad reviews. Let me preface this by saying I have been here one other time and loved it. However this last time I called and said I wanted a TRIM and my bangs braided back or something simple and cute to get the bangs out of my face since I had pictures that night. I got there and they "stylist" told me he doesn't do any of the "fudu/girly crap" ... I should've left then but I needed my hair cut. I have curly hair and told him a trim, maybe an inch-2 MAX. He took off 4-6 INCHES.... I've spent years growing my hair out and I bawled when I got home... I even asked him during the process how much he cut off bc I saw HEALTHY hair in my lap and he goes "oh it depends" like WHAT tell me how much. I really wanted my money back but I have social anxiety and my wife never got a chance to call. Save your hair and keep away!! It's not worth losing your hair ... oh yeah when I mentioned I have curly hair... it's so short it no longer lays down and I have a freaking puff ball on my head and hate looking in a mirror since I look like a poodle. Both my daughter and myself got a cut and color. The hair cuts were okay. My daughter doesn't look any different. My hair is the worst! Even customers/employees at work said something. It's two different colors. At best this studio is good for shampoo, cut and style. I would not recommend color. It is worth the extra money to go to a color professional! On 2/15/14 my wife called your receptionist on 4825 E Warner at 480-893-2327, and spoke to Rachel, and made an appoint for me (her husband) to have my hair cut at 10 am, 2/16/14 Sunday. I showed up at 10 am, only to be told that there was no appointment made, and no record of my wife's call to Rachel on the previous day, according to the receptionist. I asked if I could have a hair cut as a walk in. The receptionist walked back and was speaking with 2 hair cutters behind my view. The conversation began to get heated, I could hear one hair cutter (who later identified herself as Holly Hamper) say, "I don't want to take him, I am waiting on my appointment" and the conversation continued. Holly Hamper came to get me in the waiting area, and obviously angry and agitated, and began telling me that I should know not to expect an appoint to be made unless I scheduled my hair cut at the time of my previous hair cut, and that it was my fault that she was missing her other appointment. Holly Hamper continued to lecture me, then she blamed my wife, saying "how do you know for sure your wife really called?" I feel that your employees, specifically Holly Hamper and Rachel are destroying your business reputation. I have been getting my hair cut and bringing my wife and 2 daughters to AZ Hair CO for 10 years plus. I will never return to a business that condescends to me, gives me negative attitude, and talks down to me with all the bad attitude of a 13 year old child. I want the whole of Ahwatukee to know what an awful organization you are running so that the free market can reward you with closure of your business. I had a major event coming up so I made an appointment at Arizona Hair Co. To begin with, the receptionist was not very pleasant. I had an appointment with Stacy which resulted in a total catastrophe. She used clippers on the back of my hair so far up that there was no way to cut my hair shorter to hide the damage. She also cut bangs that were way too heavy and crooked. My bangs also had a huge chunk missing on one side. I was so upset that I wanted nothing to do with Arizona Hair Co so I skipped calling the less than cordial receptionist and contacted another salon. That stylist did the best she could before the event, but it is going to take months to fix my hair. I rarely if ever do reviews but this haircut was so bad (right before one of the biggest events in my life) that I had to warn others. read more

I brought my daughter in on a whim when she asked for highlights in her hair. I was excited because she had dyed her hair dark & I was longing for her lighter locks to return. We luckily got Holly Hamper as our stylist. She brought my daughter to her station & quickly made her comfortable...talked to her like she had known her forever. Not only was Holly very personable & professional, but she was competent & spot on with her coloring! My daughter received the best, natural, transition highlights! I was so pleased with my daughters hair that I brought my boyfriend in for a haircut. This is a man who has "cut" his own hair for 20 years & begrudgingly agreed to growing his hair a little longer & to getting a real haircut by a professional. I understand his fear of the stylist because he has incredibly thick, coarse hair that many stylists had butchered in the past. Holly once again saved the day. She gave him a cut that changed his stubborn mind about stylists. He...now willingly...will be returning to Holly for his regular haircuts. And I'm happy because his hair now has shape! Thanks Holly! Kiara is my stylist. She is very good. The atmosphere could use some sprucing up. It got stuck in the 80's with its green and peach coloring. If they have any spare money at all - please, please give this place a face lift. They say no food and drink which i don't get. Well the food part i do, but i sneak my starbucks in all the time. BEWARE! Sarah is the worst sylist in the shop, came in for a hair cut and she butchered me. My hair was so short that I can't style it, I have the smallest curling iron and my hair was to short for it. I asked for layers and she just chopped straight across in shor jagged cuts, this is the worst cut I have ever had. She told me that she is trying to become manager of the shop, I hope she is better in business than she is hair styling. I absolutely love this place. It's always clean, friendly, and I've never had a bad cut. My entire family goes here and each time, they remember us and we always leave having had a good time. My stylist is Rebekah. She is AMAZING. I have a bi-polar approach to my hair (changing style, color, etc.) She has a true eye for stylish cuts and lets me know when something won't work and why. I've been following stylist Luci around for years. She has been with Arizona Hair for a long time and she is my go to person when I feel like screaming about my hair! She talks me off the ledge. And gives a terrific cut at the same time. I've had my hair colored, straightened using cold method, cut one inch short, grown long, and everything in between. She's the best! There was a period of time when Luci had some personal time off and Stacey took care of me. I really loved her attitude and styling too. DO NOT GO HERE !!!!!!!! If I could I would give them 0 stars. I got my hair done by Ariel yesterday and I only asked for two large platinum pieces in the front of my hair, should've only taken two hours max since it was only two pieces of hair. My appointment took 3 1/2 hours and the strands are completely uneven, it's 4 different shades of yellow and Orange - not even close to platinum and she charged me $119 for only the two pieces that weren't even what I asked for !!! When going to the manager and explaining how unhappy I am with my hair they didn't help me and didn't offer to fix it nor did they give me a partial refund. I am so embarrassed to leave my house and I got my hair done for a tattoo convention this weekend and since they can't fix it I'm stuck with this monstrosity. I'm sure the other locations aren't like this but PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY RIP YOU OFF !!!!! Sometimes a "chain" is more like your friendly neighborhood salon.I got lucky here.I see Nicole who has an East Coast backround that easily exemplifies her down to earth,sincere,super friendly and funny personality,, but more importantly a jewel of a hairdresser! I have been to upscale salons,in many states and Ulta which is a farce,the stylists barely speak to you and you walk out paying 200 bucks!.. This Arizona Hair Company has been her for over 20 years and I have enjoyed the friendly atmosphere but again the consistancy of Nicole listening and meeting my needs!It seems all the stylists get along as well and Nicole was away once and some other gal stepped in and was really good too. read more

Clarissa is amazing! I went to AHC on a whim, and I'm so happy that I did. I've been seeing her for about a year, and every time I visit she is very professional, friendly, and does an incredibly thorough job. I don't have much hair, so most hair salons just rush through, but Clarissa really takes her time and is a total perfectionist (which is a good thing when it comes to hair)! She gives great advice on how to take care of your hair at home, and you can tell she wants her clients to leave happy, which I always do! My hair has never looked and felt better thanks to her.
