Stopped in to find a few products and though they had testers of some of items I was looking for out, they were out of stock with many items. We had to seek out a customer support person to answer questions. We defiantly were looking for things and walking around but no one asked us if we needed help. I've been in many Ulta's and they are usually brimming with staff and support. Maybe it was because it was early evening but it shouldn't matter. I'm a huge Ulta shopper and generally love shopping at the stores. However my experience at this location today was horrible. I've never felt so racially profiled when trying to return an item without a receipt. The manager Jess (maybe know as Jessica), told me I couldn't return my items because it wouldn't show value. She didn't even try to scan all of my items. She scanned one of them which I saw the price come up accurately. The others she didn't try but she concluded to the fact that I could have not brought them from there. I didn't even try to get my money back I said a store credit was fine because I'm a frequent shopper. No one tried to help me with this, so I said I would just go look for my receipt. My review is based on the quality of the customer service here. The store has a good selection of products and looks clean, organized, and well-stocked. Ulta has always struggled to keep the line moving. Although I know part of the tactic there is to get extra sales by keeping people in line next to all of the trial sized products on display. Today was no different, as there were 5+ customers behind me in line and no additional cashier was called up. I try to use the coupons sent to me in my email as often as possible, because good beauty products add up quickly. I purchased a Lancôme product and asked to use the 20% off coupon. I didn't realize this is one of the MANY brands/items excluded from the coupon. You have to click on the fine print link to read the fine print long list of exclusions. I now know this, but the problem is that the cashier didn't know this either. I wish there were some signs posted near areas of excluded products, because I'm sure I'm not the only customer making a special trip to use the coupon. read more

I love Ulta for all of my beauty needs... but mainly for brows. I've been a huge fan of the Benefit Brow Bar for about three years now. I love that no matter which Ulta I go to or who does my brows, they look the same each time. If you're not aware, the Benefit Brow Bar "maps" your brows before waxing. (No free-handing here). That means they look at you get the ideal brow shape for your face. Yassss! They then show you what they are going to remove. I will never go anywhere else for a brow wax. Its a bit more expensive than going to a nail salon, but totally worth it. (I don't like threading.) read more

So yesterday I went in for a eye brow appointment everytime I go the service is good but the eye brow woman seems very cold. I am there for a service, so I am friendly but her attitude is like she can't be bothered, well I came home my eyebrow felt sore I thought it was just sensitive but I have a bad burn on my eyebrows one is worse than the other but it's burnt, I am Hispanic with olive skin tone and my eye brow is still red and starting to welt. I am going to call and get corporates number and complain but I wanted to just give anyone a heads up this woman if she has a bad day or is in a bad mood will neglect to take the time to do your eye brows properly she also failed to put any soothing gel or solution. Customer service is very poor. People behind the register seem untrained. It was pathetic really. She couldn't even scan the right code and help up the line. Managers did not come to help the girl. Eventually one manager told her she was scanning the wrong code. Customers do not have the time or patience for you to figure out which code to scan. I worked retail before. It is not that difficult. I hope Ulta can train people better or hire people who can scan the right UPC. I mean, Jesus. read more

I am a big fan of Ulta. However, this location is the absolute worst! They have the worst customer service that I have ever experienced and are completely inflexible to try and offer any kind of help to customers. Will never shop this location ever again and many of my friends feel the same. This store needs a complete overhaul or retraining on how to provide adequate customer service. read more

I've been getting my eyebrows tinted and waxed at the Benefit Brow Bar at the Ulta in Chapel Hill every month for almost 2 years. Pia, who unfortunately no longer works there, was so nice and did an amazing job and turned me on to getting regular professional eyebrow maintenance. However, I've been seeing her replacement, Kiara, for the past 2 months and she's fantastic! I have gotten so many compliments on my brows!! In times of COVID, she is super contentious about cleaning her tools and workspace and I feel totally safe and comfortable being there. She's very detail-oriented and goes through all the steps to make sure my brows are perfect. My natural eyebrows are full and naturally well-shaped, but are basically nonexistent color-wise so this helps so much and has really improved my self confidence. All this and Kiara is just a nice person and a delight to talk to! I'd 100% recommend her to anyone looking for eyebrow help!!! read more

I went in without a particular style in mind but Charvaris talked with me and asked questions about my hair routine, what I wore to work and what kind of look I was going for, among other things. I'm obsessed with makeup, so as a gift I got a Stila Perfect Me, Perfect Hue Eye & Cheek Palette and it wasn't for my skin tone, so I went to see if I could exchange it, and as soon as I walked in one of the employees instantly rubbed me the wrong way and gave me dirty looks, but me being nice and understanding that maybe because she had a bad hair day she wasn't in the best mood, so I continued to ask if I could exchange and when I say her attitude was horrible, I felt like she had a stick shoved up her ass with that nasty attitude, and so I went to look for something to exchange it with and one other employee helped me and she was very nice, although overall I feel like the store manager should really talk to her sales associates about customer service skills and being polite because those attitudes will run her store to the ground. read more

I was in the area for my friend's wedding and got my makeup done by Melissa a couple days ago. She is nice but the service was horrific! She didn't bother to check my shade of foundation before she just lathered one on to me. She didn't use any moisturizer or primer or setting spray. She didn't know how to fill brows and tried making mine look like the shape of her own which obviously isn't possible. I looked like a clown. She didn't know how to apply eye shadow either even though I showed her the look I wanted. She haphazardly applied my lipstick so there were parts that got onto my skin and some parts of my lips were left without lipstick (no use of lipliner either). Would NOT recommend to anyone!!! read more

This review is for Jonelle at the Benefit Brow Bar. She is professional, extremely talented, funny, and friendly! My confidence is boosted 10 fold and my brows have never looked this good. I highly recommend making an appointment with her specifically! She also answered some questions, gave me some helpful tips for styling my brows on my own, and took me around the store to help me find some other products I needed even though they weren't by Benefit. She finished well under the allotted appointment time, so it was very convenient to do my Trader Joe's haul and be done before my groceries got too warm in the car! read more

I will not be bringing my business to this establishment ever again. I was followed around the store while I was shopping and the store manager, Carole, accused me of acting suspiciously without being given any explanation as to how. They had no proof of me taking anything, they gave no reason as to what exactly they thought was "suspicious" about me, and at the end I was told I was not welcome back to the store, even without any evidence of me causing trouble. I have been an Ulta customer for a very long time and shop at their stores quite frequently. This was my first time to this particular store and I was disgusted and disappointed with my experience. I do not recommend this store to anyone, and will be going to my usual Ulta store by Southpoint Mall instead. read more

I love ulta so I was beyond excited that a new branch opened up in chapel hill. The ladies at the register were very nice especially the one with the bright red hair. I bought lashes and had them put on at the brow bar. I assumed the policy was similar to Sephoras when you buy them they apply them for free but it was not. I was not upset about the price but was upset with the service I received. The lady that did them was Jonelle she was very rude and seemed bothered about having to do the service. She also told me the price to have them applied was more than twice the amount the cashier rung me up for. I guess thought that would get her a generous tip. She was condescending when I asked her to do them a certain way. She also went as low as insulting my eyebrows and I will never allow her to do a service for me and wanted to walk out with only one lash applied. My lashes ended up lasting all of 3 hours before the one of them fell off luckily I bought duo a previous day. Would NOT recommend her there is another female that works there that also does the service go to her!!! read more

I am not one to write a complaint or bad review, but an unpleasant shopping experience is just that. I have lived in the area off and on for almost 20 years and still love it. I like the location of the store, but customer service is pretty lacking. My daughter's and I came into this location to find a specific product listed on online. At first we were acknowledged by one associate, but the other 10 associates in the store seemed to busy talking about their own things or whatever they had going on. We walked around for a few minutes looking for the product listed online and when we couldn't find it, stopped to see if anyone could help us. Several associates walked by me, but no one stopped to ask if I needed help. Also, we were the only customers in the store. I finally walked to front of store to ask if someone could help me and the associate seemed to be bothered. She finally explained they didn't carry product at that location, but didn't point me to where I could find the product. My daughter's and I walked out, went over to Trader Joe's, and found a product we like plus some additional and health and beauty products. Which have been amazing, btw! I love Ulta, but won't be shopping this location again! read more

If you are a woman over 40 and definitely over 50 you will be ignored and treated condescendingly by the young ladies who work in this store location. You will be skipped over in line or when trying to get a sales person's attention for people who are standing behind you but are younger or even male! It was not just me - I observed Ulta Chapel Hill staff treating another woman of a similar age in a demeaning fashion. Guess what, Ulta? I will spend my money elsewhere where I am appreciated as a customer. Furthermore, I will let a LOT of other women my age know about this type of demeaning, age-stereotyping behavior in the Ulta Chapel Hill location and strongly discourage them from visiting. The Southpoint Mall location of Ulta is much better and age friendlier, FYI. Perhaps you should advertise that the Chapel Hill location is only for women under 30? In a shopping center that features a Talbot's, a Chico's and a Steinmart, one would think that stores would cater to a well-heeled, older clientele. I guess not! I cannot recommend this store, and it is worth going out of my way to go to a store where I - and my purchases - are welcomed. read more
