This place was great at first but the two girls that were running the salon maybe a week or two back were just very immature.

Had some bangs cut by Mike today, only in the chair for about 10 minutes. Only paid 15 dollars which is reasonable for that amount of work. That said however, overall not too happy with the cut. There were many loose wisps that hung over my face that should have been cut. The edges of my bangs were uneven and a little choppy. My boyfriend had to go back and cut the loose hairs and fix the corners to make them even. The process seemed rushed without much attention to detail. I would have gladly paid more for a little more time and a wash before hand to get the bangs done well. I am very happy with my bangs just not happy that my boyfriend spent more time fixing them than Mike did cutting them. read more

Really cute place and super friendly folks! However, we called weeks ahead of time reserving for 3 stylists for a wedding. We arrived wedding morning and only 2 were able to go at a time delaying us over an hour. The bride was pretty sad at this. Our hair looked wonderful in our boho curls at the moment. Interestingly, the stylists didn't use hair spray even as many of us requested and told them we had a long day ahead, and they assured all of us our hair would stay. Sadly, all 6 of our styles fell within a single hour to just boring straight. No curl, not even a wave. Thank goodness I brought a curler and real hair spray. We all had to redo our hair. Which again delayed our wedding timeline. So it unfortunately didn't feel like a $65 well spent. Edit to reply to salon: There were 6 of us and only 1 wanted an updo who had above the shoulder length hair and wanted a single braid. Sorry you double booked us with your regulars, but we were told we would have 3 stylists. Your staff was great to work with day of despite the hair falling. But, if you were already so booked with regulars we would have appreciated being told when making our reservation you couldn't accept us. read more

I had a fantastic experience at Salon 2eleven this past weekend! I had been looking for a new salon closer to my home (loved my old salon in Raleigh, but I don't work there anymore so it didn't make sense), and in my search for a Chapel Hill/Carrboro salon that offered keratin relaxers (very specifically), I came across 2eleven. Booked easily and quickly online with Vina for a Saturday morning. Showed up on Saturday morning and snagged one of the parking spots behind the salon, but there were plenty of other spots across the way in the town garage. Loved the vibe, set up, and view of the salon, and the team working was great. Felt instantly at home! For the first time in the 8+ years that I've been getting chemical hair straighteners/relaxers, not once has the salon or stylist actually said "we can do as much or as little as you want," meaning I always walked out with an entirely flat shiny head of hair. I thought it was all or nothing...until 2eleven! Vina and Jennifer worked together with me to figure out exactly what I wanted the end product to look like and they customized the mix of the treatment, the timing, and the aftercare so that it accomplished my goals of not being a fuzzy mess. Vina styled the end product so that I would have some body--unusual after a keratin!--and I felt great about my hair during the usually-awkward 48 hours after when you can't wash it. I just washed it this morning and very lazily blew it dry and it is EXACTLY what I wanted. Volume, shape, but no fuzz! Mission accomplished by a great salon team. I'll be back! read more

My stylist - Vina was so sweet and really understood what I wanted to do - balayage blonde in my dark hair with as little cut off as possible but still removing some dead ends. She took her time, toned after processing, cut, and gave me a blowout. 5 stars. The salon - certainly not the chicest, cleanest, most upscale place in town but that's why I came here! It was super laid back, they played good music, and offered a huge variety of drinks (wine, beer, coffee, tea, water, soda) and even cupcakes since it was the day after Valentines Day. 4 stars because one of the guy stylists was eating tuna like 3 feet from people getting their hair done and the space is nearly too small. Price - fair pricing in my experience! Location - really convenient with a dedicated parking lot, right in the middle of Carborro. I'll be back to see Vina! read more

It was plenty warm today, but they are looking into a heated setup for the winter so if you are concerned about being inside, check it out! Everything was very smooth - from texting questions beforehand to online scheduling to the appointment being right on time. My daughter's hair was a longer basic style, and she asked Vina to go short, similar to the photo, and she was very happy with the results (not posting actual photo just because privacy). I used to go once per year to Great Clips because I hated paying salon prices for marginal haircuts... only to realize I just needed to find a salon and stylist that was worth it! Jennifer at Salon 2eleven gives me the haircut I've been seeking (I have long hair and I want layers and bounce and movement and texture) and she always sends me out with curls afterward, at no extra cost. They serve you champagne or wine during your appointment which I love. Owner and staff are real and personable. Scheduling online is extremely convenient (no phone tag), and there is some free parking behind the building. Mike got me in quickly and offered me good advice. My haircut came out perfect. The pricing is reasonable (well worth it for a quality haircut), but one suggestion would be to update current pricing information on the website, as I couldn't find it easily. I have been getting my hair dyed blonde for 8 years and have never wanted a refund. I came into Salon 2eleven excited to get my hair balayaged and left uneasy about the color/tone but they convinced me the brassy color would help my hair look "multidimensional" However when I got home upon further inspection the dye job was really botched. Green and brassy at the same time and bleach spots. I am incredibly disappointed that when my hair was getting blow dried my stylist ignored the obvious mistakes and let me walk out unaware. I was asked if I liked to wear my hair up which maybe I should have said yes? They do offer a 7 day redo policy, but no refunds. I did not wish to come back for the redo as I felt uncomfortable with how they had left my hair, to begin with, and wanted to have another salon that I trusted fix it. Salon 211 has great people and a great atmosphere. The salon is cute and cozy without kitschy decorations. The stylists are fun and down-to-earth, easy to talk with. There's no judgment of how you do or don't want your hair, and they give great suggestions when you aren't sure where to go. Their salon is environmentally an vegan friendly too! When a couple of parts didn't hold the curl, she was happy for me to come back so she could make it right, by feathering out the heavy parts of my hair. I highly recommend Mike. Before my first visit, he did an in-depth consultation where he asked me a lot of questions and went through a color book and Instagram photos with me. I really felt like he was listening. Before my visit, he called me to tell me he was a delayed so I wouldn't be sitting in the salon twiddling my thumbs. I appreciated that. To keep it real, I'll mention a few downsides. My first visit (cut and highlights) took a very long time. Luckily, they provided wine, which kept me happy. The salon is quite small, which gives a nice cozy feel, but a little girl running back and forth kept bumping into my chair and no one stopped her. Stylists were also running into timing issues with sharing a sink. I do think they need a slightly larger salon. It's also very expensive, but all good salons in Chapel Hill/Carrboro are. It's unfortunate for broke students. Back to the good...my long layers were beautiful, and Mike made my hair feel like silk. The highlights were well-structured. I decided they were too ashy after I went home, and I used the 7-day redo they offer. It was drama free, and Mike corrected the color beautifully. The next time I went, Mike spent a reasonable amount of time on my cut and color, and again made my hair feel like silk. He did an excellent job bringing it back to its natural color, including the subtle warm tones it used to have. I was impressed. Mike is personable and very friendly without talking your head off. The overall salon atmosphere is relaxed, informal, and fun. read more

I went to get hair cut a few months ago. The lady who seemed like the owner was very polite and nice. However, the guy who cut my hair was very rude. He didn't say anything for whatever i asked. He just said, "yeah" or nothing. Instead, he had chitchat with other workers and talked about the tea or some drinks. Yes, it was not an important thing to talk when you cut your customer's hair. I asked some questions about their services and he didn't answer anything. SILENCE. I felt very awkward. I was very uncomfortable and I almost went to the owner if i could get hair cut from other workers who seemed nicer than the weird guy. I really didn't like what he did and i ended up paying about $50 for the hair cut my hometown hair stylist felt bad for. I won't go this place anymore. Especially, if you have customers, you should talk to them. If you don't want to or if you don't have mediocre social skill and mediocre hair stylist skill, well, i don't know what to say. (I really don't want to call him , "a hair stylist" I really doubt if he had gotten decent training). If you go to this place, you should make sure WHO will do jobs for your hair. Seriously. read more
