This past weekend I purchased a few items (about $100 worth) at this Ulta. When I got home I opened one of the items I purchased and it appeared that someone opened it and the outside of the bottle was DIRTY. I didn't open it at the store to check. Today I went in to try to exchange it for the EXACT same item. They told me I had to pay the difference because the coupon I used in store could not be transferred. That was absolutely INSANE to me. I get the "system" will not "let you" transfer the coupon, HOWEVER it is NOT my fault that YOU ALL have products on the floor for purchase that was CLEARLY tampered with. The girl at the register even stated that it probably was a tested. Yet I'm left to pay the difference because they expect be to keep a tampered product rather than doing an even exchange. I come to this Ulta all the time but now that I see this is their customer service I will reconsider where I spend my money. On the morning of 1/28/2023, I needed a shade match for Fenty foundation. The woman that helped me was nice, professional, and knowledgeable. She gives each customer the individual attention needed to help the customer leave feeling good. I did wait a few minutes before being helped, but that was fine because she greeted me and let me know I was next after her current customer. I don't mind waiting for my turn. It was refreshing to be greeted instead of being ignored. She was able to take care of her current customer while acknowledging my presence in her area. I recommend this Ulta especially if you need help selecting products. I wish I remembered the name of the woman that helped me. I could see she enjoys her job. In the end I was happy with the service I received and with the products purchased. read more

Don't use this salon. I was a once-per-week customer until the store had a fire. I asked the stylist for a list of the products used on my hair so that I could keep up the regimen of healing my hair until the store reopened ~ Not only was I denied the information ... but ... I was blocked on facebook and on telephone. I'm shocked by the whole thing. I was a good customer ~ I tip very well ... and ... am very soft-hearted so I am known for giving gifts. I need Ulta to reopen! So glad the launch to re-open is December 1, 2023! Ulta has been the best place to find some of the best products for everyone. Not only does it have a multitude of brands but it also has the full line of products to include sale and/or package deals. The people work there are very nice and very helpful. If there is something they don't know, they find someone who does. It's the best place for skincare, makeup, and hair care products! it also has a salon with people who do a multitude of things such as hair cuts, color, and waxing. Unfortunately, the only alternative was Sephora which totally blows being at Kohl's. It was fabulous at JC Penney's. You'd think there would be no difference but there is, sadly. read more

20 October 24, 1300. I called yesterday to make an appointment for highlights. The young lady I spoke with made the appointment for today 20 October, 1245 with Shemeka. I walk in at 1245, she currently doing a blow out on another customer. She was surprised to see me and asked what I was getting done. I told her, she the asked if I could come back. I said no (I live about 13 miles away). I asked if she knew I was coming, she replied "I didn't look at my book, I just signed in". She then offered another stylist. I declined because have a relaxer and you have to be careful with permanent color. She said, "She's licensed ". No thank you! . She then said "You can rebook, we are running behind". I understand things happen and I try to be patient. If she looked at her book, she would realize that it might have been an issue and called to say, "Hey can you come a little later because I'm running behind?" Wouldn't have been an issue at all! I was in the store on Wednesday afternoon. I found what I was searching for and went to purchase the products. I placed both items on the counter and was immediately asked something similar to... "what would you like.". I looked down and the clerk immediately took the items and scanned them. Told me the total cost all of this took place while she was talking to someone else giving names. She inquired about who was closing. She said she was to leave at 8 PM. Meanwhile I am waiting and attempting to pay. The clerk kept calling names and took my purchases, finally put them in a bag an pushed it across the counter. NO receipt, NO Thank You, NO come back... continued to called names to someone else. I made an appointment in the morning with Alle at 1:00 PM. I later got a text message changing the appointment for 1:30. I got there 10 minutes early and checked in for my appointment. At that time it looked as if Allie had just started a hair style on another person. She told me that she would be with me shortly. I waited an additional 40 minutes and she was only halfway done on the cut she doing. She never gave me an estimate or told me to come back at a later time. I got sick of waiting so I left. Do not make an appointment to keep someone waiting so long. At least have the decency to give the waiting client a time to come back. This way they can at least shop in the store or another in the center. What I have learned from this is to make the first appointment of the day or use a different Salon. read more

Oh Ulta, how I love thee, let me count the ways. I've been to Ulta in 3 states, including all of the ones in Houston, but I'm giving a review here because it was the first Ulta I've been to. That and, I like this one the most. One can feel every overwhelmed when going into an Ulta. It has pretty much every hair, skin, and cosmetic thing you'll every need, for life. There's something about this place that makes me want to go and start a youtube channel, hah. They have all the drugstore beauty and hair products here, and I would say a little more competitively priced. But I come here for my specialty higher end stuff. I need to spend a little more to maintain my curls, and they have the lines that I use. Doesn't hurt that I'm a product junkie either. Like I said, it can be very overwhelming coming into this store. the smells, the products, the salon, the displays that greet right when you walk in but I've been to enough stores to understand the method to their madness. Ulta products will always be by the checkout, following the products you can get at the drugstore. The salon is always in the back, and next to it is always the high end skin products and nail products. the hair styling tools will always be in a corner because the dryers are aligned in the back. Perfumes are usually opposite from the checkout counter on the other side of the room. Makes sense though, I wouldn't want to smell all that every day. I just realized as I'm typing this that I sound like I live in the store... oh dear. Anyways, I can't comment on the salon services as I never been to them. The esthetician I used to know on a first name basis. She was really good at figuring out your skin and the best high and low end products. This was also in 2010. Not sure she's still there anymore. There aren't a lot of samples they can give you, but they make up for that by letting you try any make up or other product and returning it if you don't like it, and they don't really give you a lot of hassle about it either. I find the people there helpful, and will show you how to apply something you're not familiar with. Overall I like that they have a store like this where I can get all my cosmetic and beauty needs taken care of in one place. I've never really had any issues with anyone here, maybe one or two associates that didn't seem attentive, not rude but aloof (almost on purpose by the looks of it). read more

Great Redken hair color...terrible one size fits all haircut and terrible communication. I hate leaving bad reviews, but be warned! I asked for a minimal trim of my long separated layers and got SIX inches cut off the top with fringe all the way down. It now looks like a long bob with a mullet. Seriously. It'll take years to grow this mess out! The color turned out well, but it was a surprise too! I appreciate a stylist who will communicate with you while you're trapped in their chair, (besides bathroom humor, for real) and while she assured me there was no red in my new hair color while dyeing it...surprise! "oh, i thought you'd like a little red too?" ha...ha? good thing I'm easygoing about my color! To add insult to injury, at the very end of my hair cut Hillary informed me of a brand new $20 "surcharge" for "long, thick hair." (I specifically asked for all costs upfront) More fun surprises. read more

Took my daughter here for a haircut and color, then came back for a formal updo and makeup. The only instruction we gave was to make her elegant and to look her age - 15. I didn't want her to look older and didn't want her to look like a little girl. They did an absolutely fantastic job with her - she was definitely the belle of the ball. She was very happy with the level of service received and we will definitely use Ulta's salon service for future formal events. I highly recommend their services. The prices are reasonable, too. This is the worst Ulta store I've ever been in... There are a couple employees who seem like they're trying to do their jobs, but most of them completely ignore customers in the store and stand around talking about their personal lives. I don't mind employees talking to each other when there's nothing going on, but I actually heard a couple other customers wondering out loud to each other where the employees were and if they could get help. The store is always incredibly unorganized, and I've found several open or empty packages. Obviously that can't be completely stopped by employees, but if you've ever worked in retail then I'm sure you've heard that having incredible customer service is a good way to minimize theft because if the employees are frequently checking on customers and walking around the store people are less likely to think they can get away with it... read more

I love this store. I don't want someone pouncing on me when I walk into a store. The ladies are always around if i need help, all I do is walk up to them and ask the question. They are helpful and always give me their opinions. I do think their clearance prices are stupid. a dollar off the original product....really? I know it did not cost that much in the first place. The store does sometimes get messy, but I blame the customers 90%. How hard is it to go into a store and pick something up off of a shelf and PUT IT BACK. I mean, store employees are NOT your parents. Please be a grown up when you are in an establishment. If you need help, just approach a lady and ask. I frequent Ulta often and sometimes the store is on point in regards to how it "looks" and other times it looks a hot mess. Its either hit or miss when it comes to the aesthetics of what the store looks like. I've frequented this location several times and some of the products I was interested in, but didn't buy because they were with dust or looked like the packaging was a bit beat up. Most times be prepared to wait in line though the sales associates do try to get you in and out as quickly as they can. You go there to shop, and I honestly felt that the lady which is suppose to help the customer choosing the products, was doing me a favor. So the girls who work at this ulta are complete jerks, I went to return something today, and was buying some of ulta's 3 in 1 body washes. I thought they were buy one get one, and didn't realize until I left that is was buy two get one; the girl didn't even mention it. The Customer service at the Columbus Ga location is HORRIBLE!!!!! I called the 800 number to corporate to let them know. The MAC lady directed me to someone else in the store when I asked her about lashes. She never asked if I needed any help with anything. I went back two days later and the same response. I mentioned to the cashier I had purchased some lashes from a previous visit and who could I get them put on from other than the salon. She told me from the MAC counter. Funny, the MAC lady never stated that. I feel her attitude STINKS! On two different occasions that I noticed she isn't friendly or helpful. I've been to this Ulta a few times now, the store itself is nice and usually stocked well. However, there aren't enough employees to help customers. I've been there during busy hrs and there's maybe 2-3 working the floor & 2 at the register. Some of the employees are friendly while others seem bothered by questions. DO NOT GO TO THEIR SALON! I came in asking for a basic straight trim, nothing else just to rid dead ends, 1inch max. At first the lady quoted 20$ which I felt was reasonable, then she came back and corrected herself and said 45$. I agreed to the cut which was labeled as a "cut and style" on their list of services. She literally sat me down and half combed through my hair (long, thick hair) and I mean didn't brush through, literally barely combed through half of it leaving knots everywhere. She ended up cutting about 1/4 of an inch off but since she didn't brush through it or take her time she literally only trimmed half of my hair. The entire cut took about 5 minutes and she didn't style it or anything. When I left it was uneven due to the lack of detangling before cutting and most of my hair hadn't been cut at all. What a waste of time and money. I will never go back. read more

The last 2 times I went here to get my BareMinerals foundation primer, they have been sold out. Also, it takes forever for someone to assist me. I have started buying Mary Kay foundation primer, and it works just as well. And it's cheaper. Won't be shopping in Ulta anymore. read more

I am sorry I have to give them even one star to post my review. My experience with this Ulta location has been just like T.G.'s. Unhelpful employees, disheveled shelves with many products out of stock lend to a third world atmosphere. Recently the OPI display was only about 25 percent full with a tacky sign that stated the price was now $9.50. I bought a product at the Ulta at Tiger Town for the first time and an employee there said I can always return product that does not work for me. When I returned it with the receipt at this Ulta in Columbus , GA, the employee was very annoyed that I had the bottle but not the box. When I saw that they did not have any items on my shopping list, I took back my return and left the store without spending a penny. My return was graciously accepted at the Ulta at Tiger Town. The Ulta in Tiger Town in Opelika is so much better, with helpful employees who take pride in their store and much more fresh stock. Another suggestion: The Edge at Dillard's, I actually enjoy going there. read more

I don't think I have ever received the correct advertised free gift with any purchase. They don't bother to take down the sign advertising the free gift when they know they are out of it. They usually don't even bother to tell me they don't have the item I expected they just substitute some crap I will never use. It isn't just this Ulta it is ALL of them! I love Ulta! They have a little bit of everything which usually makes for long shopping trips (not to mention this Ulta is right next door to TJ Maxx! Score!) I am so happy to have high end make up brands like Too Faced and Urban decay readily available which is rare in a small town. Even though I am not usually a fan of cheaper "drug store cosmetics" I have to say that many of the Ulta brand products have become affordable staples in my make up drawer!
