Just called to verify the name of the woman that helped me I'm 99% sure it was Thalia. I have pretty persistent eczema on my face and could not find a product that would help. Within two days of using the products she recommended my eczema has basically cleared up! I have not had relief in months. Without her help I would probably still be suffering! I always enjoy my time at Ulta Beauty, looking at the new makeup items on the shelf and restocking on the items that I need. The East Memphis location is my go-to. The staff is always friendly to me and willing to help when I have questions. The store is always clean and fully stocked. I enjoy shopping in organization versus chaos. My favorite part at check-out is using my points that I collected from my pervious purchases to get a discount on my new purchase. read more

It is something really wonderful when you go into a store that is either make up, perfume, lotion's , face mask, lipstick, eyelashes oh wait that's right that's why this is Ulta I call this now the ultimate experience! I noticed way more clearance signage that I was able to snap pictures of and who doesn't love a good mark down right?!:) Again there was so much to look at and it was so many stations that I wanted to get to including foundation area more eyelashes the fragrance side and on and on On this trip my prime visit was to redeem my complimentary happy birthday gift from being a member. Ulta is known for their members rewards and also when you sign up by including your birthday you receive a gift for your birthday month. So with that in mind I entered into the store there is a Sanitizer station it's near where you pick up the hand heel basket for shopping also the store does require everyone answering to wear a face mask I noticed on one of the front promotional banners that they were offering with a $60 or more purchase on fragrance you receive a choice of either a free-throw or a free robe And also notice inside the store along with clearance there is also certain aisle that I dedicated to "last call"purchase meaning those particular products in that section are on last call and they are mark down accordingly-- perhaps the manufacturer will no longer distribute that particular product so it is on "last call" I'd recommend you visit ulta and check out some of the clearance some of the promotions and if you haven't gotten all your gifts for Christmas this may be the best stop it you can add to your list. Just also note for those this never visit the ulta locations have the in-store salon however I did not notice an in-store salon at this location but again I was trying to look at a lot of the sale signage and the promotions that were going on but you have to call the locations prior to making a salon appointment read more

One of the best Ultas I've visited in a long time as far as customer service. I was shocked to find beauty reps on the floor. We were asked more than once if we needed assistance. When we got to the register we were met once again with pleasant beauty reps. I could tell everyone here enjoys their jobs and customers. My mom and I enjoyed our experience. I don't live in the area but when I visit again this will be one of my stops. read more

No one ever seems to be available to help me on the floor. I THINK I saw one female employee that restocking shelves and she suddenly disappeared and I never saw her again. I'm not sure why but ever since the pand3mic happened, it seems there's never anyone on the floor to help with make up or color matching. I came in today on a Friday afternoon and there were lots of customers but once again, no one to help or greet me. Or if there were, no one said anything to me or asked if I needed help. I walked around for a while and hovered by the make up station a bit hoping someone would show and no on ever did. I'm very intimidated by make up stores and the whole make up scene as it is so not having help is even more nerve racking and disappointing. I keep hoping to get color matched and can never find a soul or get anyone's attention. There's also usually no one at the hair salon and the lights are always off back there. The make up testers are always smudged, messed up and gross looking too. My cousin is from Mississippi and says the one there is very clean, well kept and helpful staff is available and come straight to you to greet you and help as soon as you walk inside. I've had this happen at other make up places too and I'm wondering if it's because I'm not wearing any make up or something? I dont know ‍ I may give it another shot again in the future and ask for someone to help via the cashier at the front. It's just kinda sad. I'm guessing maybe it's my timing has been bad? Or maybe because of the economy or something they're perpetually short staffed? I hope it can one day be as full of life and welcoming as it was pre-pand3mic. I only came to this store for a return and it wasn't a very pleasant experience. Luckily there was someone at the register but this person wasn't very friendly at all. Hire a more professional staff to help customers. I saw a young lady needed to pull one of the 2 ladies at the register to help her match concealer. What people are saying from old reviews is still true today. I wasn't even there to buy anything and it wasn't good. This was her first time buying makeup and was excited the entire time until we got in line. 3 Ulta workers were behind us, talking poorly about my niece and I and also about other customers in the store. These 3 workers then talked about how they were ready to quit and how bad the store was being ran. Went in to pick up a few items for a Christmas gift. I was greeted immediately and then left to find what I needed/wanted. At one point I must've looked lost because a salesperson came to ask if I needed help. I was shown what I was looking for a left alone again (which I greatly appreciated). This store is always clean and the wait time isn't too long to check out. The few times i have asked a salesperson about color matching, I've chosen someone who looks like me which has proven to help. Parking is plentiful as this store is in a strip mall. I'm really glad we have an Ulta in town now. I don't go often, but when I do I enjoy browsing the products and trying new things. Plus - it keeps me out of the more expensive Sephora, which is not far away. The prices are very reasonable and they have great sales. You can also go to their website and print out a coupon - they run them all the time. So I went to Ross next door and came back at 10:20 and doors are locked despite the posted opening time on their windows says they open at 10 as well. SALON NOT for BLACK HAIR CARE I should have known better, but what could possibly go wrong with a hair color, on natural hair. Went to this location to buy $23 face wash and instead of the associates asking if i needed help finding said $23 face wash, they proceeded to follow me up and down the aisles while communicating via head set to each other to "keep an eye on me." I overheard one of the male associates point blank say "She's going down skin care can anyone else get over there." As a past employee of Ulta i know about the theft that happens everyday but this was humiliating! I was followed the whole time i was shopping to the point that i couldn't even focus on shopping i was too worried about looking suspicious, an employee followed me until the moment i left the store. We came to this location on Saturday morning, right after open, and were surprised to see how busy it was right around that time. Quite a few customers came in for services while we were there, and they always seemed pretty happy with what they paid for. The store is clean, and the tester items seem to be full (as opposed to a bunch of empty eyeshadows like you find at other locations). We did have a slight disgust with the tester facial cleansing brushes. All brands had dirty makeup smears all over the brushes, and you would definitely not want to put them on your face. I personally can't attest to how difficult it may be for them to clean the testers or replace the spinning brush heads, but they were not sanitary. Ironically, those brushes are notorious for clearing acne, but with how dirty these things were, they are definitely part of the problem for whoever wiped their foundation all over them. At checkout, there was a giant line and only one cashier, so the line went really slow. The cashier was trying to use two machines to try and speed up the process, but all of the computers were freezing up except for the one she was on. I don't shop at Ulta often, so when she asked me for my phone number, I asked why it was needed. She snapped back at me with "So you can get your Ulta Beauty points and blah blah blah". I said "Oh, I don't have one, I don't shop here often." She said "Well, do you know someone who does? I'm sure they would appreciate it more than not." So I found my sister's phone number and gave her that. I'm sure this is a key performance indicator for them or something, but if the checkout line is long and you're the only person there, it might be time-and-place to let your customers politely decline. read more

If Jad isn't working that day, don't bother. He's always super helpful but he wasn't working today. I went in there to get hair color, lashes, and makeup. No one asked if I needed any help. I walked around for half an hour looking for gloves and a shower cap and not one employee asked if I needed help. When I saw someone and approached him and asked him for help, he was very rude and blew me off. I put all my stuff back and left. I'll go to Sally's next time I need hair color or lashes. read more

I can't believe I've never reviewed this place. First of all, sign up for their rewards card. It's free. Just make sure to actually bring it with you when you shop, have them scan it, and you get points which are then redeemed for free stuff. Let them accumulate for something nice and you can get free perfume or something really awesome. I mean come on, how many stores give you a free bottle of perfume or something really nice like that? I go in here often enough that everyone knows who I am, which is great but also sad since I clearly have no life. I need a lot of shampoo, and I'm also a nail polish addict! And as far as nail polish goes, they carry eeeeeverything. OPI, Essie, you name it. I can't remember if they carry China Glaze. If they do, it's not a huge selection which kinda sucks (which is probably why I can't remember if they do carry it at all) but I suppose they can't carry all of everything. Essie's really where I'm at, but China Glaze is my #2 because they have the best neons. For everything else, they have salon brands and drugstore brands which is great. Things are always on sale. If they aren't on sale when you go in, just give it a week or two and it will be. And check magazines like People and some of the beauty mags like Elle, sometimes there's coupons in there for something like $5 off a $25 purchase or something. Whatever you buy can be on sale so you can really make a killing - if what you get is already buy one, get one half off, you can really save. And like I said you can get everything from Redken and Fekkai to L'Oreal and even regular old boxes of drugstore hair dye. They have cosmetics, too. Again, they have Smashbox (and their own line) and other stuff like bareMinerals alongside Maybelline and Almay. They have soaps and such too so they really do have everything. And with the points system (and they seem to be competitively priced), for the things they do carry, I don't buy them anywhere else. Especially when they have their buy one get one half off sale, it's a great time to stock up on said product since things like shampoo or soap can sit in a closet. If you ever need help with picking out a new shade of eyeshadow or with finding a new bottle of perfume, the staff are great in helping you. They don't just shrug and point you in a vague direction, but actually help you find something and make sure you actually do find something. The one thing I do dislike about their perfume selection though is it's not as vast as Sephora, but it is kinda hard to compete with that wall of awesomeness, but as long as you're not shooting for the really high-end stuff (e.g. you won't find Hermès perfumes here), Ulta will have it, and a tester bottle out to smell it. read more

It's kind of dangerous for me to go into an Ulta. I never come out with just one item that I went in for. They're often running specials on their bath and body products and everything is so colorful and good-smelling that I usually walk out with something. A cool thing that I found is that Ulta's line of cosmetics are cruelty-free. This is great -- because I absolutely love their lip glosses, and they're very reasonably-priced. I try to go on days when they're having a buy one, get one of equal or lesser value deal. They carry lots of hair products, and various brands of cosmetics. You'll find a bit of everything, and I find that they're like Sephora's less- concerned-with-expensive-brand-names little sister. read more

I love this store and all the helpful employees who are always willing to look around in the back for something you are looking for! They have a large variety of products from high-end perfumes to a fabulous selection of hair products from every brand you could imagine. In addition, their prices are surprisingly comparable to local stores and they always have special "buy 2-get 1 free" offers. The one thing that is the topper is their "frequent shopper" card. It tallies all your purchases and then gives you actual cash off future purchases. In addition, they send you coupons and you can also find their flyers in your Sunday paper. This Ulta is the best I have ever visited and they are a national chain, so there should be one right near you. It is worth the trip! read more

I'm on the fence with Ulta. There are some good deals to be found here, but for the most part, Ulta is drug store brand cosmetics and hair care. Being that I am a hairstylist, I could lecture you all day long and then some about not using drug store hair products, and how beneficial it is to splurge a bit and buy the fancy makeup. You get what you pay for folks. If you want your makeup to last all day and be the actual purple it looks in the case (and not a very faint hue of lavender) then you need to upgrade. Ulta is Sephora's step sister. Sephora offers up all the lovely high end perfumes, makeup and cosmetics. And while you can find some of the same items at the two very different stores, Sephora always has had a much better selection for what I am looking for. Sure, I pick up the Ulta sale flier every now and again and peruse it for a bargain I can't pass up, but for the most part I can pass it up. It's just not my cup of tea. I will say that the staff at this location has always been very helpful and friendly, and when you do find a bargain, it is a bargain. read more

I loved Ulta.com, so when I got a coupon for their salon services...I thought I would give it a shot. I booked a texturizer, cut and style online and was excited. It had been a while since I had done anything for myself since I stay at home with a disabled child most of the time. My husband and son dropped me off, asked how long it should be and made arrangements to pick me up at that time for a nice dinner out. Things were going well for a while. The stylist was nice (they seem to only have one since I could only book Brianna online) and things went pretty well until it was time to rinse the 'perm' (I thought it was to be a texturizer, but I see now they are the. Same thing -_-) solution from my hair. She went to change the capes and we both noticed that my cardigan was soaked down my back. I figured it was just water from the rinsing, but no. It was either the perm solution or whatever conditioning prep she put on my hair prior to the perm. Regardless, the back of my jacket was stained green and the neck was brown! Brianna said that she had seen the green stuff before and it should wash out, but she didn't know what the brown was and it must have been the conditioning stuff even though she had never known it to stain before. None of this was helping me since I was supposed to go out to dinner in half an hour! She sputtered around a bit when I asked what she was going to about it and even suggested that maybe my jacket was already stained before I got there. I said it was brand new and even took the tag off just as I put it on right before I came there. I was quite upset at that remark. She dabbed at it with a towel and I got frustrated. at this point, I tried to wash out my jacket. The color was not coming out (my cardigan was originally pale ivory). I again asked what was she going to do and she said she was going to go ask her manager now. Upon her return, she says that the regular manager isn't there and the one on duty said to have my jacket dry cleaned and bring them the bill. I am actually livid. Because she has permed my hair, she doesn't wish to style it or dry it. Fair enough, but I paid for a style. The cut was horrible (I asked for simple layers, not anything difficult) and I was still charged for everything! I went out of the store in the freezing cold with a soaked and stained coat, wet ugly hair and an empty wallet. I was so upset, I told my husband to cancel dinner and I just went home and cried. This was supposed to be a special thing for me and it was just devastating. I don't like dry cleaning because of the chemicals, so I tried to remove the staining myself when I got home. I was able to get the green out. But the brown would not budge. My brand new cardigan was ruined. I sent in a complaint to Ulta online and they were very concerned, but once they sent word down to the local store...we got no replies at all. I sent in photos of the stained jacket and even the tags I had just removed showing it was brand new. I showed my receipt where was forced to pay for everything even though I didn't even get what I paid for, not even counting what I lost. Nothing. They don't care at all about customers. I can tell you that I will never do business with them again and even though I am a platinum rewards member. I will not even shop with Ulta online anymore due to this. I have never been treated so horribly and I will tell everyone I come across to avoid this salon and store. They simply do not care about customers. Beware and avoid this salon and store. read more

As long as I know what I want and go in and buy it... no problem. Today I wanted to try getting a facial and I saw there was a 30% off special going on right now. I called to make an appointment and the phone rang at least 20 times. When someone picked up, they said that the special doesn't start until next week. (Not according to the website, but OK...) I asked if I could make an appointment for today anyway and they said they have ONE person who does the facials and they are on vacation until next Wednesday, just in time for the 30% off special. I don't think it is the fault of the person on the phone... but I don't think suspending one aspect of your business (when you are part of a chain) for a week and a half is good practice. I will go elsewhere and continue to use Ulta as a big old cosmetics section of a drugstore. read more

I'm a cosmetics junky so this place is heaven on earth for me. Their "rewards" program offers great coupons almost weekly - some up to 20% off my entire order. You don't find this at the large department store chains as their coupons typically exclude cosmetics. The only negative that I have is that they do not carry MAC or NARS. read more
