I made my daughter a hair appointment for a cut and highlight. She is a first time client and I was told over the phone that first time clients get a 15% discount (I specifically asked this). Upon arrival, 2 hours after the appointment was made, we were told there is no discount but the store would offer $15 off since the services would be over $200. I explained to Megan (salon manager) that I asked the salon receptionist 2 hours earlier about the discount and I was told 15% off and that I would hope she would honor what was communicated. Megan refused to honor the 15% off so we decided to take our business elsewhere. I will not be returning to Ulta for salon services. What a disappointment! read more

My first time at Ulta beauty... They have a great selection of beauty products & the staff is very nice. However, during my makeup appointment they applied makeup without cleaning my face prior. I asked about it and said that it is not needed, unless you are applying a lot of makeup... They charge for the makeup application $40, compared to Other places where you just have to buy product. This is ok, but for them to not even spend time prepping the skin makes it not worth it for me. read more

Of those tried, Ulta brand products are good. Too bad I can't say the same for this location and manager! Their own brand, the "Ulta" brand was largely out of stock. The sunscreen I wanted to buy would expire within two weeks of purchase, and when told to the store manager she gave me an "I couldn't care less attitude." Really? Really! When I asked for the free gift with purchase (offered online) she said "no." After I pressed, she pulled out some paper, gave it a cursory glance and said the free gift wasn't on it. Since I left the store still needing most of the items on my list, I went to Chandler. Again poorly stocked - but the clerk who rang me up knew of the gift! I didn't ask and wouldn't have asked. The "lowly" clerk in Chandler offered it, apologized for the items not in stock, told me when they stock, and gave me back my coupon knowing I would soon return!! 5 stars Chandler!!! I'm angry again! I come here because they have a wide selection of NYX products. Customer service is hit or miss. I wouldn't necessarily consider it a friendly environment but there are few ladies who are more than accomodating when I was on a search for a demi-dye. This is about the store, not the salon (the salon is 4 stars). If you get the British sales lady, RUN. So done with this place. I'm cancelling my credit card, that's how done I am. They're close to my house, but their convenience isn't worth it. Half the stock is always out, or they have very little so the selection is always awful. Asking for help is a time waster. I've had products recommend to me that were awful, had sales people confused by basic questions (looking for a setting powder, was given a foundation powder. Asking if a brand of matte lipstick dried down, she had no clue what that ment). Clearly they don't educate their staff. Main complaint though? Returns. Since there are never testers or samples, I end up returning stuff all the time. Rude to me for having a return, not knowing how to credit back payment forms (which is a legal issue, how they haven't lost their merchant accounts idk), pissed that I used a product I'm returning. God forbid you get the British assistant manager, she is the worst. I walked out of a location today because I could not deal with her again. I was trying to make a purchase with my points, she was impossible. I had a return too, but I cancelled it, put my purchase back, and walked out. read more

A few weeks ago this location was having a special on first time hair cuts. I needed one so I went for it. I received one of the worst cuts of my life. When I pointed out issues the girl just kept making it worse. I complained to the salon manager who then did as much repair as possible and told me to give it a few weeks to grow and the next cut would be free. I just got off the phone with this location. the manager is no longer with them and there is no record of my visits. This is crappy customer service. to top it off the original hair butcher sent me a "come back and see us" card stuffed with coupons. Great! except the coupons had expired. Really? Once I use up the Ulta gift cards I asked for as Christmas presents, I will find somewhere else to shop. I gave this location one more attempt to wow me this past weekend but once again I was disappointed. A very nice lady asked if I needed anything (by perfume) and unfortunately at that point I didn't. Wish I would have sought her out later on. I have never had any luck with 'helpful' customer service. I guess I'm too old as the demographic they seem to want to please is much younger. Too bad, as I have money to spend but I will take it somewhere else. They send coupons in the mail instead of loading them on your rewards card (so you can use them anytime). This visit I had an expired coupon on me and the new coupon at home on my desk. If Ulta gave a darn about their customers, the $3.50 would be loaded on my card, like the rewards I have earned but never use. Yesterday the cashier waited until my sale was complete before mentioning I had the wrong coupon (I could have gone home for the valid one and returned). My fiance has a unique way of shopping. She gets a basket or chart and throws items she wants into. I know it's inconvenient to the employees but at the register she ummm dumps what she changes her mind on there. It's not that bad though it's usually only a few. Anyways, today she starts doing that and they follow her,and even eventually take her basket to the register for her convenience, how nice. Maybe I'd say $100.00 of items. She still has $400 worth in her arms. The basket was full so obviously they just wish to help her. At the register she asks for the basket. The lady actually freezes and doesn't know what to do. She presses that little button hanging from the neck and asks someone "hey she wants the basket." Then tells my fiance she doesn't know anything about a basket, but Shelly find out. I can tell she is listening to someone through her earpiece, but still says night about the basket. My fiance starts counting her money. This whole time I'm watching listen to her responses. It's obvious they thought she was shoplifting for sure. She finally received authorization to allow her to get items out, but watch her every move. About 5 things come out and she says "that's all I really wanted." It was about $400. My fiance counts out her money and pays the employee. Then we leave. I understand shoplifting is a big issue for stores, especially one like Ulta that makes it's money selling useless items really as far as I'm concerned. Totally acceptable to have security policies like that. It prevents her fun running out the store with $100 dollars worth of items. We'll, accept the $400 worth of items in her arms. Again, I get it but use a little common sense on that one. Also walk away when you are going to have conversations about customers regarding issues like this. It's not really appropriate to let a customer hear them, or do things that make them feel like you are accusing them if something like this. What she purchased in no way, shape or form important or required at all. In the work I do, similar but definitely necessary. People's lives and we'll being depend on my products. So obviously for me theft in every shape and form is a possibility. Not once have I accused without evidence, or even investigate with them being aware. Wow the women working at this location are so unprofessional! I called ahead to see if they had a certain product the girl put me on hold to "go check" if they had it and then confirmed to me that they had it. I asked her to put it on hold for me, she said okay and got my name. I drove 20 miles out of my way to get the product and I show up and tell them my name. Nothing was put on hold and the women acted like it was my fault because I didn't catch the name of the person who put it on hold for me. Unfortunately not once but the last three times I have gone there I've been so uncomfortable. If you don't come into the store looking boujee and with a full face of makeup be ready to be amazed. Where do I start with this Ulta Beauty. I arrive about two minutes before this location opens on a Saturday note:they open at 10:00am Monday-Saturday and 11:00 Sunday's. There was about 5-6 of us waiting to enter. The doors opened at 10:01 and the employee unlocked the door, held it for one of u, walked away never once greeted anyone! As we enter there was also 1 girl standing at the register who also never offers a greeting, matter of fact so was looking away and down almost like to avoid us! Now that am in the store, I come in for 1 thing and realize just how shy the shelves look with certain products and of course they do not have what I am looking for. I proceed to the register to ask if they have this item in stock. I stand and wait a few minutes but realize folks are getting in line so I figured I would browse the store but stay in eye shot. A few minutes go by and I realize the line is clear so I ask any updatesThe girl tells me " I think they are still looking" I walk away to keep looking myself or at least with hopes that I can find a trustee employee who has enough knowledge to tell me something that compare to what I am looking for. Staff at this location avoid you like a plague! I find one person who was very willing to help out on the high end products side of the store. I was very thankful for her help. She checked for what I was looking for and informed me they are phasing our this particular brand of product. At checkout time still without the product I need...the girls informs with me at that time they do not have the item I was looking. Never once does she offer to order it or even see if another store has it in stock. This is the second time in 2 months that I came to this store and they do not have an item(s) on hand. Ulta Beauty is a huge enough business for them to fix the issues at this location. Service...horrible, supply and demand...horrible, cleanliness...horrible! Had Damon give me a trim/reshape at the hair salon and he did such a fantastic job! Usually I get a lot of super specific questions that I don't know how to answer and I end up with a haircut that I don't like. Damon, however, asked me how I typically style my hair, if cutting this much off was suitable, and then went with it. The end result was the best hair cut I've gotten in years!!! This review is for the salon! Doesn't even deserve a full star but can't do half.. So Saturday Feb 13th I booked an appointment on the phone for an up do and to get my make up done bc I was going to a wedding the next day. The girl on the phone advised me everything was good to go and that the stylist doing my hair did not have anyone before me and that I could come in a little early if I wanted. Sunday Feb 14th, yes Valentine's Day... I got to the salon about ten minutes early and the stylist asked what we were doing for the wedding in a way like I was the bride. I calmly explained what was going on and she seemed a little frantic. I guess there was a major mix up and whoever booked the appointment made it seem like I was a bride coming in to get her hair and make up done. 1st mistake. Next I showed her a bunch of pictures of what I was looking for and she said she understood and loved the look. She started to curl my hair but as she did each section put SO much product in my hair that the next day literally took me 3 shampoos and 2 conditioners just to get all the product out! 2nd mistake! Once she was done curling she asked to look at the picture again, she started to put the curls up and made it so tight with just half my hair my eyes started to tear up. I tried to tell her and her eyes started to tear up like she was going to cry! It had already taken 2 hours at this point which I was told I'd already be done with both hair and make up.. So as a time but I was getting a little frantic. It was 2pm at that time and the wedding my husband and I were going to was at 4:30, 30 minutes away from where we lived. 3rd mistake! She finished somewhat putting the top of my hair up but it looked so bad from all the product and not in any way of what the picture I showed her was like that I was so unhappy! I finally told the stylist if we could please just move onto makeup and she said yes but shaking in her voice. **keep in mind the entire time her hands were shaking uncontrollably!! ** the hair stylist told me that bc of the scheduling mix up that she was going to do my make up bc the esthetician was booked. I said okay but felt very uneasy. She went and asked one of the girls from the Benefit counter to help and if it wasn't for her I probably would have walked right out. My make up didn't get finished bc it was so late. Needless to say the hair stylist got me a good discount, I didn't pay for the make up and she explained that she told her manager everything, HOWEVER, the manager never came to say anything to me and you have to go wait in line at the front to checkout which made me late even more bc there were already 4 people in line and only one register working! All in all DON'T go to the salon at Ulta! One of the stylist came in for her shift complaining about closing that night and was told she would be busy and complained even more! August 22nd 2015 Saturday This store is right by my house & always stocked. However there is a lack of associates on the floor to help customers. I was in their a month ago & was highly irritated that I walked out & no one seemed to care I was going to buy $80 worth of items. I walked in, couldn't find what I was looking for & went to cashier to ask if anyone was on floor. She said they were short that day & someone would be with me. I waited 10 min & watched the girls in the salon stand around & socialize with each other. I went back to the front of the store & found the one clerk on floor. She was helping someone with makeup/makeover. I asked if she was the only one that could help me. She said "sorry about that" meanwhile no one is in line to check out & the associate in the front of store didn't offer to help me either. I said "well I'm leaving & she said sorry" I said "I'm sure you are." I normally never write reviews but since I've been going to this Ulta for years & felt really under-appreciated I wanted to share. I came home & asked my roommate she said she hates that store & gets better customer service at San Tan or Chandler location. Just sad that the younger generation doesn't care about great customer service & going above & behind. I used to go to sephora for all my beauty products. I loved it. The staff was fun, the decor was nice, and I always left with my product in hand. I learned ulta was in the shopping complex behind my house I was so excited. I didn't have to travel to a mall anymore for my makeup. Well, I can say I will never go to ulta again, I will happily drive to sephora. Every time I go to ulta they are out of stock of what it is you're looking for. Not just one time.. every single time. Today, for example, all I needed was some random, not special, eye product that I have bought for years and of course they're out of it. I bought another brand of it, however, when I checked out they asked if I could put it in my purse as they were out of bags.. its like the mother company just doesn't care. I'm so done. read more

After I said no thank you I was given a lecture and told that my hair was in poor condition and that I at least needed to get a haircut. I went to Ulta today because I received an email showing a product that I normally use, was on sale 50% off today. When I went to pay for the product, I was told that it was an online sale only. There was absolutely no indication of this in the email I received. I showed it to the manager and she just repeated that it was an online only sale. This is false advertising at it's best. I am an Ulta Diamond member and I will never shop at Ulta again, because of this deceptive practice. I love Ulta! I'm a platinum rewards member and I go in for all my cosmetic needs. One of my favorite things about it is the fact that you can try anything out... and if you don't like it, you can return it. In my mind that seems like Nordstrom-quality customer service. The last few visits to this location have been really rough especially today's! Less then a week ago I purchased a tarte shape tape concealer and was really reluctant about the purchase. No one was around to help me find the right color and when I mentioned that to the girl at the check out counter she assured me that I could return it, if it was the wrong shade. She even added that I didn't need to bring my receipt because they have it on record on my rewards program. Low and behold I needed to get a different color. I tried three times to see if I could get that color to work. It was just too light. I confidently went back in without a receipt and found a much better color for me. The girl at the check out counter seemed new and needed help from the manager. The manager was extremely annoyed with the fact that I had "tried" the concealer but continued to show the girl how to do a return and repurchase. The clerk said, "you owe $5.24" I was confused about owing money since I was exchanging the exact same product. But then I realized I had used my 20% off coupon. I nicely asked if I could still get it for the same price since I can't get my coupon back. The manager walked over, sighed and rolled her eyes. After typing in a code she looked up at me switched on a totally fake grin and said "there ya go" with such attitude. I thought I was talking to the flight attendant in Meet The Parents. I would have been fine if they just nicely said no... but I felt shamed. She stared me down all the way out the door. Bad service!! After reading some of the other comments I realize this is getting to be a trend. I think I'll find another location to go to. Ulta is awesome just not this one. read more

Extremely disappointed with my visit here. Went in for a couple of things and I really couldn't find any help at first when I was looking at the Kylie lip glosses, I kept making eye contact with employees trying to get someone to ask if I needed help because, we'll I did. I eventually moved on to find my foundation that I needed but couldn't remember which color I was so I asked for a sample of the bare minerals, after finally walking up to an employee. She then went to ask if she could give samples but she couldn't, okay fine that's not a problem but I still didn't know which color to get so I was hoping someone would offer a color match on me but nothing. I get it sometimes that store gets a little busy and they seem short staffed but this wasn't the case this time. I looked over and saw one manager and two employees just standing in a circle discussing personal issues. I don't get how that's okay when us customers go in that store and spend a good amount of money, the service should be better. I am over it and will buy product elsewhere. read more

This location is just ok- went there today to get some body shop camomile makeup remover but they have no BS stock at all..the cashier at front has no personality and was clearly struggling with making change during checkout. No one greeted or offered to help me in locating products, seems like hardly any staff at all at the store. My experience today was not acceptable. 11/10/2020 between the hours of 5:30pm and 6:05pm I was not greeted in the store and I was being followed and stared at the whole time. I was in the hair care section looking at some leave in conditioners. A lady in the salon section was staring at me the whole time but didn't say anything. She loudly proceeded to greet all customers around me but me. I then started to browse around and about 3 employees walked past me with stares and looking at my purse. I felt like I was being profiled due to being the only person of color in the store. Like don't follow me around and stare at me if you have nothing to say. I got to the counter and she wasn't pleasant either. Everyone in the store was helped except me. The ladies at this location need to be taught proper customer service skills. Plus the store is superrr messy and unorganized. As a Ulta credit card holder, I enjoy my time in the store, it is my get away and I deserve it. Terrible Ulta do not visit. Manager does not have a clue about customer service. It is filthy and always out of everything. I went in on a Monday day the item I wanted was on sale in the morning and they were already out. Ok sure so I proceeded to try and select a few other items two out of three that were "out" as well. I normally go to Sephora for any of my make up needs, but right now they are closed and my boyfriend and I were in the area and I just needed to pick up a few things. When we walked in there was a lady asking if we had masks and we do, but they were all dirty from my boyfriend leaving them on the floor in the truck so we didnt wear them in and she said that next time we come in we have to have a mask and she wasn't nice when she said this so we continued shopping and noticed that when another lady came in with no mask she didnt say anything to her so we were like okay that's weird. When I finished grabbing the stuff I needed we got in line and an elderly lady was standing there looking at the little things at the front and a different lady was at the register typing on the register not looking up at all. My boyfriend asked the elderly lady if she was in line and she said yes so we stayed behind her and the lady at the register looked up finally and in a rude voice told us she was processing a return and that the woman who she was processing the return for stepped out of line. My boyfriend didn't like the way she was talking to us so he said out loud that communication is important when there are people in line waiting and the elderly lady even agreed with him. Eventually, my boyfriend left to get the car started with the a/c on since checking out was taking a long time and he was getting frustrated. I paid for my stuff and the lady told me next time I come in that I need to be wearing a mask. I didn't say anything and continued paying said thank you and left. I was really shocked at how rude and short the lady at the register was, I didn't think to see what her name was because all I wanted to do was buy my stuff and get out of there. I should have waited for Sephora to open back up since they are way nicer then the 2 ladies at Ulta. read more

I like this Ulta. I've never used the salon services, so I can't provide any feedback on that. However, the customer service they provide with the variety of products is very good. They provide great advice on everything from the drugstore brands to the prestige brands. They are also very warm and friendly people. What's not to love? read more

I went in to exchange a product color. I was having a hard time finding the display they had out the previous week. Jackie from the Estée Lauder area was willing to help me find a product that she wasn't even there to sell. She not only helped me find the display but she helped me find the right shade. I love this place! The girls are always so helpful and nice. Every time I go there, the make up is very well organized and where it should be. If for some reason they are all out they always check their back stock for me and/or tell me when the next shipment is coming. read more
