Don't you love a stylist who not only can cut and color your hair, but also who's engaging enough to leave you feeling happy and relaxed when you leave? That kind of stylist is a rare jewel - someone you go back to every 6 weeks for years - and that's Peggy. She used to work in Mesa. In order to see her, I had to pack a lunch, and brave a 45 minute commute one way! But I always felt the trip was well worth the effort. Not only did Peggy's expertise leave my hair looking gorgeous, but her sweet, funny personality made the time like getting with a dear friend. She has that elusive gift of knowing when you want to chat and when you'd just like to be quietly pampered. Trust is another important trait for a stylist. There are times when I really need a second opinion and Peggy has never let me down. She's graciously affirming without being at all false. I've never gotten the sense that she's only telling me what I want to hear. If something won't work, she'll say so. But what's even more wonderful is the way she encourages me and everyone around her. From the very first appointment, I felt I'd known her for years even though we'd never met before. Of course, personality is important in a stylist, but expertise is critical. With years of experience, Peggy is boss when it comes to hair. I've had everything from a single blonde streak in brunette hair to my current style of multiple layers of auburn with highlights. If I can envision it, Peggy can do it. The last time she did my hair, I came home and my husband stopped mid-sentence and just grinned at me. "What?" I asked. He shook his head as if to clear his thinking, and then gave a little half laugh. "I just can't get over how cute you look with your hair like that." Now what more can you ever want?! I have been going to stylist Peggy for my haircuts and great color for over 12 years. Peggy is always warm, kind, and professional, and the wizard of hair color, which is her specialty. I always get great compliments at work and home about my hair color. People stop at work to get a closer look and ask where I got my hair done. Peggy never ceases to make me feel special and always encourages me and asks how I am doing. But she is genuine, and her sincerity shines through with her kind words, humor, and thoughtfulness. So glad she is now at a great salon in Gilbert Frankie D's. The owner Betty is fun and always friendly, and she gave me the best eyebrow job I have ever had! It was perfection! Peggy and Betty literally made me over for my Wedding elopement ceremony in November. When my family and friends saw the photos they said I looked ten years younger, thinner, and extremely happy! I have gone to several employees at this salon, and I could not be any happier! Peggy, is an AMAZING hair stylist. She went above and beyond for me. She not only colored my hair perfectly, but she restored my hair back to health. It was shiny, and healthy, and it has never looked better. She took the time to listen to exactly what I wanted, and she even taught me how to style it. Betty, also the owner, has the best wax ever! It never irritates my skin. She is so precise, and knows how to get the perfect shape for my eyebrows. I highly recommend her. I have made my friends go to her, and it transforms their faces. This review is mostly specific for Peggy, as she's been the main person... Peggy has been a professional every time I see her. When I ask her to give me chestnut brown with some red, she gives me chestnut brown with some red. She's very down to earth and easy to talk with. She gave me tips that I still use to this day and almost every time I see her, she's finishing with another repeat customer. The only bad thing about Peggy is that she's in Gilbert, AZ and not in southern California. As for the rest of the staff at Frankie D, I have never had a problem with anyone. The salon itself is always kept clean and another plus is their easy location. I don't post much on yelp, but for someone who's given great and fair service, this is just my way to show appreciation. I've been going to Peggy for over 16 years and have followed her to every salon she's been with because she is dedicated to making sure my hair is exactly what I want. I always leave with silky, beautiful hair that I get compliments on by total strangers. So much so that one of the cashiers at Fry's always calls me, "The girl with the beautiful hair." I've had Peggy color my hair many different colors over the years and it has always turned out lovely. Also, Peggy listens to me when I ask for something specific. I have long hair and am very serious when I ask her to only cut off half an inch. Every time, without fail, she has given me what I asked for. Love this place...I drive from Tempe and don't mind going out of my way for a relaxing atmosphere at a salon and the best color specialist ever! Peggy has been coloring my hair for several years. She was the color specialist I was looking for. I have thinning white hair on top and dark hair on the bottom. She is able to take those two and give me the best highlight, lowlight combination for my face and hair. I get compliments all the time. I have been going to Troy for 8 yrs. He colors my hair and puts in extensions which last for months. The color and blending the extensions he does compares to no one else I have ever had do my hair.
