Emily was so patient and kind--she walked me through everything, helped me find the perfect shades, and even applied different skin tint options on my face so I could really see what worked for me. I ended up purchasing the Kylie Cosmetics skin tint and concealer and feel so much more confident now. I had a wonderful experience with Nicholas for my first keratin treatment. Nicholas is kind and so welcoming. I am very introverted and Nicholas put me at ease instantly. I left feeling like I had a new friend. My results are beautiful and Nicholas was amazing to work with. He explains everything so well and made me feel included in the whole process. It was a lengthy process but honestly as a mom that doesn't get a lot of time to myself having someone comb and brush your hair for three hours was like a vacation. It was very relaxing and I left feeling so recharged. So excited to see how this treatment cuts down on my time getting ready and my overall fizz in the Florida humidity. My hair has never been this silky and smooth with just product. It feels so amazing. I feel like I need a new personality around my hair because she's the star now. I'll definitely will be back and recommend Nicholas to anyone looking to do the keratin treatment as well. He also did a beautiful cut at the end as well. Customer service at this Ulta location is practically nonexistent. I visited for one specific thing, cologne. First problem is, so many were missing testers which very inconvenient. When I finally found the one I wanted, there wasn't anyone around to help. When I finally did find someone, she said she would grab the keys so I could retrieve my choice. I love Ulta for the large selection of makeup products., due to COVID-19 you are no longer able to test lipsticks which is understandable but that causes me to waste so much money trying to find new shades. The ladies and guys here are so nice. There is always someone greeting with a "Welcome to Ulta" upon entering. The first time I shopped here, I picked up a free birthday gift and didn't spend a dime. The cashier was friendly and wished me a Happy Birthday. The second time I came in, it was to pick up items from their 21 Days of Beauty Steals promo. The items were displayed in the front so I didn't have to spend time searching for them. At check out, they asked me if I wanted to sign up for a free facial event so I said yes. Which brings me to my third and most recent visit. The event was to promote the Peter Thomas Roth (PTR) brand. Upon arrival, I filled out a short form and specified my beauty concerns. Prior to the event, I had never heard of the brand before. The most expensive brand I've used was Clinque. I would say the PTR price points are similar to Clinque but the aesthetician or esthetician (sorry, not sure which is correct), Annette, spoke really highly of PTR due to a personal experience. She applied 6 different products (listed below) on me and explained each one. Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads, Water Drench Cloud Cream Cleanser, Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Hydra-Gel Eye Patches, Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream, Camu Camu Power C X 30 Vitamin C Brightening Serum, and FIRMx Peeling Gel. Annette pointed out how the fine lines were not due to aging but due to hydration. When she first said that, I thought what lines? Lol. But yes, I noticed within the pass year I developed lines under the inside corner of my eyes that would not go away, no matter what moisturizer I used. After the treatment, it seems like it made a difference on the problem area. I ended up buying two products from the PTR line because buying them all at once is over my budget. This product line is considered premium items so I wasn't able to use a coupon but I did get a gift with purchase and a few samples. Since then I have purchased two more items from the PTR line on ulta.com and received free shipping because my purchase was over $50. The order shipped from VA and arrived within two business days. I purchased through Ebates and received 3% cash back + 3% cash back with the Ebates credit card. If you have an Ibotta app, you can get a 5% cash back by shopping through their app. Some of the drugstore items sold here are priced higher than other stores, but I believe they have a weekly coupon ($3.50 off $15) and there's always sales going on. They have an extensive amount of products and a salon as well. Although I wear make-up, I only know the basics. As you can see you don't have to be a beauty expert to shop here. After brunch, a friend of mine asked if I wanted to tag along to go to Ulta to cash in a free item that was emailed to her for her birthday. I hadn't gone to Ulta in forever and really didn't think I'd buy anything but I accepted and met her there. It was just like I had remembered: some employees with over-the-top makeup, people getting their hair did, and makeup counter ladies painting faces. I looked to see if they had any natural hair products but from what I could see, it was natural products all hair types. Not quite what I was expecting. Maybe I missed it. I did end up purchasing some glittery lip gloss and 12-hour lipstick. They were more than what I wanted to pay for them but I really like the effect on my lips. I really love Ulta and I'm super happy we have one on my side of town now. Hopefully, we'll get a Sephora at River City one of these days because i like to shop at the two stores equally. But alas.... onto my Ulta review! The store is large, clean, bright, organized, and never lacking in the fact an employee is always near to offer assistance with a smile. The employees also have some great recommendations. They have Benefit here, which is nice because I don't have to go across town to one of the department stores to find it. I use two of their products regularly. I'm a HUGE nail polish addict and while they do carry my O.P.I. and China Glaze, they also carry my Butter London (*swoon*). At $18 a bottle, I try to limit myself to only one bottle of Butter London per month. Whenever I come into the store, which is always once a month (if not more), I tend to spend about an hour or so in here each time as I love to just wander around and browse. The girl said you need to show me and I did then she acted like it was going to kill her to help me. Definitely not coming back to this location because that was the final straw for me. To begin with, I'm a 50-year old male. My kids have no problem saying I'm bald! I do however still need to get a haircut so I look presentable. I had to have a haircut fixed. I was up by River City Marketplace for work, so I called and was able to make an appointment with Sarah. I, of course was right on time (yes, I'm tooting my own horn), and Sarah was waiting for me. As a note, The salon was in the back of the shop. Now I usually don't go into these woman-oriented stores, but when searching for haircut in the area, this place came up! I certainly would have never just walked in, as this is a make-up store (in my eyes). And I'm betting a lot of their regular women-customers don't know the salon is even in there, as there's no signage on the windows or in the front of the store. Sarah sat me in the chair and smocked (or whatever you call the thing they put on you to protect your clothes) me up. She didn't have to ask what I wanted, as she could clearly see the butcher job that was done to my hair. Sarah fixed my hair and I got a shampoo. Now I'm not used to getting a shampoo, as I normally go to barbershops (since I don't have much hair), but I must say, it was like getting a massage! And my hair cut was the best ever. I usually don't have people complimenting me on a haircut, but I've actually had several this week. Even though this shop is about a 25 minute drive from my house, I will definitely come back here to let Sarah cut my hair. Matter of fact, I'm only going to let Sarah cut my hair from now on. Now, for the women that read this post, I saw some of Sarah's work on her Instagram page, which was on her business card. Turns out Sarah is an artist when it comes to hair. I don't know what everything is called, but I can tell you, the before and after photos are amazing and tell a story of Sarah's ability to make women stand out. Came to this store because I saw the availability of the Dyson hairdryer I really wanted. Everything was perfect until I go to ring up at the cashier... I guess because I tried to buy it online with my Ulta CC and I literally just moved up here from miami my card limit goes all the way up to $1,020 and apparently for some reason it only went through for $260 not a problem however unfortunately my other card didn't go through because I have been using my cards to buy house hold items and my other card declined because it was over the limit. I made an appointment to get a Brazilian Blowout. I cant say enough good things about Jessica. She explained the procedure and approximate timing. I asked to purchase the appropriate shampoo and conditioner. She brought it to the station and offered to get anything else I needed. She left my hair smooth and styled the way I wanted it. A couple days later I washed it myself and still smooth and soft. So very happy with the results. She is professional and yet friendly. We talked about Jacksonville, Yulee, beaches, restaurants and historical events. I highly recommend her services for Brazilian Blowouts for sure! I'm not sure where the miscommunication came about, but the haircut I recieved was not what I asked for by any means. If the stylist (who was fresh out of school) didnt understand what I asked for she should clarified. I had long hair, I asked for my layers to be cleaned up, remove dead ends and frame my face.. i ended up having to have my hair chopped to shoulder length. This was my first time in this Ulta, my only experience with Ulta before today was at the Town Center location which I will avoid at all costs now that this location is much nicer and much closer to home. The River City location is a much larger store and with that comes a much larger selection. My wife needed nail polish remover and a brush, I ended up buying a comb as well. Besides the size of the store being larger, it also didn't reek of a horrible hodgepodge of different perfumes like the Town Center does. The staff didn't seem as snobby either. However, I was a little taken aback by a comment/complaint that I overheard from a cashier about it being so busy all day long. I was at this location two weeks ago. I don't remember her name she was a blonde with long pretty hair. If your standing at the register her chair is the second in from the left side. I came in with my friend, I wanted a quick trim off my long bob I had already had. Which peaked at the top of my boob, an my back was a little longer then my shoulders. I felt like it was peaked to much an just wanted her to even out the cut. Well now I sit here with hair that is just pass my jawline an choppy. She said she was gonna stack the back It looks like someone took choppy scissors to the back of my head. All I wanted was to be even out a trim. She sat an talked to other people an laughing an talking about the show love is blind. Not paying attention to her client an what I wanted. She kept going shorter an shorter. I was also turned around from the mirror I couldn't see how short she was going. An also for reference I showed her a picture to follow she said no problem! I can do that. She didn't do that. My hair looks freaking awful, i had to go somewhere else the next day just to make the sides even. I've been wearing a hat for two weeks until I could get a hair extension appointment. I told and showed my stylist I wanted my hair a gold-ish brown color. And I know my hair level was darker then that so we would have to bleach it. She over bleached my hair to basically a pale blonde. Toned me and there were spots all over my head. Lighter, darker, all in between. On the top of my head was half dark half light. I asked her can u retoned is because it's very spotty. She did. And it was still HORRIBLE. Still had spots everywhere. I paid for it. But called customer service and told them about this. read more

I have been coming to this Ulta location to get my hair cut and styled for months, specifically for Macy to take care of me. I have been a client of Macy for a few years and her work is nothing short of incredible. I get nervous going to salons and people styling my hair, but Macy is the only person who I have ever felt comfortable with doing my hair. I live about 45 minutes away from this location but continue to make the trip every month to get my hair done by her.
