1.11.2025 - Saturday I'd like to give a big shout out & Mahalo to the two ladies who were working on this Saturday, they work in the MAC section, Lea & Stephanie. They truly saved our lives on this day & I wasn't more grateful after that disaster we had in the back part of the salon. I believe the MAC girlies should be allowed to do make up & it's another form of sales esp with the products they used. On my next visit I need to purchase that MAC primer, when she prep'd my skin it felt great. Lea you're an amazing Make Up Artist & my make up truly turned out amazing on this day. I enjoyed the connection with the conversation we had and sharing what you're doing next when applying make up to my face. Stephanie was also amazing as well ; both had great customer service. I'd like to thank Louise for her time, she was a nice person but I believe she should be a rep on the floor or just needs more practice with Today's make up generation. She was a joy to have a conversation with but what I thought was going to be a full face glam she told me I was done but it wasn't completed. I had to apply my own lashes & all she did was put foundation or CC cream which wasn't my shade. We did pay full price for a service that wasn't received which is why I stopped her & decided to go to the front of the store to ask for help. I can't remember the girl who originally helped me but she gave me a good amount of products to look at for what I needed and I appreciated the options! She was most unhelpful even the cashier was trying to advocate for me. Over a year ago I opted to sign up for the ulta credit card so I could receive 20% off the dyson hair straightener. My credit card application went through but I had to leave there without using my 20% off because once again, the same tall blonde manager said that I needed to call customer service. Seriously?! What is the point of having a manager if all they're going to suggest is to contact customer service?! What use are you and what power do you have? I'm never coming back here. read more

I was searching for sparkly hairspray island wide and I suddenly remembered Ulta so I checked they had it instore online and yay, they not only had it but in 4 different colours including the one I wanted. I hotfooted it over to the other side next day and managed to nab the last silver one and even better I found a gift card in my purse.....my lucky day! The store is much cleaner than the ones on the mainland, probably because they get less foot traffic. Staff were very welcoming, I got 3 "Hello's" as I stalked my way to the hair product aisle to claim my prize, and the gal on cash wrap was extremely friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. This Ulta has everything a mainland store would have and it is well presented and everyone is welcoming and helpful. What more could you want? Maybe corporate could organize freebies like Sephora? read more

Hawaii's first Ulta Beauty store opened up on Maui on July 25, 2018 at the Puunene Shopping Center in a 10,000 sf spot. I went in mainly to check out their cologne selection. Needless to say, it's just a smaller version of what Macy's has at similar prices. SERVICES: They offer salon services for kids, men and women with eight chairs, along with facial, lash, and makeup services. Oddly, men and women pay same amount for haircuts. RETAIL: Wow, they literally sell anything and everything under the sun that's beauty-related for men and women, including product lines normally found only in salons. They also boast a small MAC counter. SERVICE: No one asked if we needed any help while browsing around, an oddity as there's usually an overload of it when a store first opens. Cashier lines took a bit, I'm sure due to staff getting used to the payment system. Our friend was maybe 8th in line but took a good 10 minutes to emerge from the store as we waited outside. Went in a couple days ago to get my acne covered up for a passport photo. I was greeted by the lovely Stephanie who took me over to the demo counter. I told her I needed coverage and she knew exactly what to do. My foundation was matched perfectly and blended beautifully. I highly recommend Stephanie for anyone going in for a demo, she has a very sweet personality and was gentle with my skin. The coverage lasted all day, I will definitely be back to buy some products. I went into this Ultra to get a certain kind of mascarera that can draw lower eyelashes that has been advertised on the internet. One employee asked if I needed help and I asked if they carried it. She looked at me like I had two heads then asked a co-worker who also had no understanding of what I was looking for. Fake false lashes were recommended but not what Inwas looking for. I then found some concealer I was interested. The tester I used was dried up and impossible to get off. I then was looking for a perfume to buy. Some of the testers were empty. The Associate next to the perfume simply stated they needed to restock. I planned on spending approximately $200.00 to $300.00 dollars but left spending only $50.00. I will not be returning and will go to Sephora who has knowledge and an interest to help you. read more

We went to Ulta Beauty finally one day to check it out because I wanted to price check a flat-iron that I want really bad. I went crazy at their clearance section that I loved. They still have a lot of after Christmas clearance items in front by the registers so that made me happy. We walked around the store and were greeted by several employees asking if we needed help finding anything so that was nice. They have a lot of great products. We left there very happy. 1 star because they actually did a refund on a return I made for my daughter. I returned a baby bliss curling iron on Thursday, 7/18/24, around 8:14pm, Hawai'i time. The girl at the register, long black hair, proceeds to ask if the item was opened. The box, was not wrapped, so I didn't understand the question. Her second question, with a bitchy attitude, asked me if my daughter used it. At that point, I told her to check it. Very unprofessional. I would never step foot in that store if it was the last store on Maui. I will do my best to spread the word that they have lousy customer service. Brick and mortar stores have to compete with online stores. This store will not survive with that kind of attitude. read more

Came to this location with my sister. Made eye contact with a couple employees (2-3 were talking story with each other) but no greeting. Odd but maybe they were distracted. Looked around a bit. My sister was looking for a specific palette and online it said they carried it at this location. Went up to an employee who I thought maybe was a manager (they were holding a clipboard). Asked them where this one palette was. They had a tone as if I was bothering them with my question. I thought they'd walk us over to where it was but instead they just pointed in a general direction. As we walked away I swear I heard them call us idiot. By then I was pissed. We didn't even bother looking anymore and instead just left. Also the store seemed a bit dirty and disorganized but maybe they just had a big rush and that's why the store looked bad and why we had a difficult time finding the palette. I work in retail so I understand how draining it can be but if you can't even fake a decent customer service attitude then just leave. Eugh read more

Bright white, clean, and shining with cosmetics and beauty products, Ulta is the latest addition to Maui's central location. Conveniently located in the same shopping complex as Target this Ulta has a wide array of offerings. Store is set up in four major areas: skin, makeup, body and hair. Within the hair section they have styling tools available (flat irons, curling irons, hair dryers, brushes etc.). Makeup is separated by more "designer" brands immediately to the right when you enter and some drug store and up and coming brands to the left closer towards check out. There is no automatic door opener and for some odd reason the store gets a lot warmer as you head towards the back (after walking around I'm going to hypothesize it's because of all of the bright lights). This Ulta location also has a Salon and a Brow Bar. If you're looking for specialized items that you don't want to wait for shipping Ulta is the place for you. Ulta is a great place in town for those who want to test out some cosmetic and skin care products without having to go all the way out to Lahaina. Really you could spend hours here just looking around. I know I did. At their MAC counter they also offer lessons and make up application sessions either for one hour or for half an hour. Fine print reads that it's redeemable in MAC products, most likely it's you buy and then the service is available to you. WiFi is available but you have to register with your name and email to utilize the service. If you utilize their app you can check if an item is in stock as well. Truly the rating is at a 4 because of the customer service I received. Dayna was very helpful and pleasant. She allowed us the ability to shop at our own pace but was nearby and available to assist when we had questions. read more

After arriving early for my wedding hair appt that was scheduled 6 weeks prior. I was rudely told by Daniel that the client before me was running late and I had to wait for them. It was an hour pass my appt time before he started. Daniel knew weeks ahead of my appt that I was crunched on time. I felt stressed and rushed during my seat time. My simple messy braid was completely opposite than what I asked for. If Daniel couldn't do it he should've told me right from the start and I would gave him my other choice. I was not happy with my wedding pics and pulling out 45 Bobbie pins. Thank goodness for the other stylist Letisha, she ended up doing my sister in laws updo and had a great welcoming personality! read more

Ulta Beauty in Kahului is a gem because Joanna is the beauty consultant that you hope for when you step through the doors of any beauty store. She has ZERO snobbery and is always more than willing to help and demonstrate product. She never rushes you through the store and she LISTENS. This is such an important quality with beauty, bc it's never one size fits all. She is always cheerful and very real, and btw her make up and hair is always stunning, so goals. And again, not a snob. I don't think she is running the place, because if she was, it would have 5 stars instead of 3. Seriously just ask for Joanna, and you won't leave disappointed. read more

I absolutely love coming to ulta beauty. They're located next to Petco. I usually do online orders and pick it up at the store. Or I have it delivered to my home. When I go there all the people I come across are very friendly and helpful. I love each beauty or hair product that I get. Come here if you're looking for make up, hair products, skin products and so much more. If you need help please ask their willing to help. I find it pretty easy to do an online order and ouch up at the store. So place an online order you will receive a confirmation email and text that your order will be ready. In a couple of hours you'll get another text and email that your order is ready. So had in over to the store and go to the check out counter and tell them your name and also show your I.D. and that's it. They do the shopping for you. That makes me happy. Terrible customer service. I purchased online for in store pick up. Drove the hour it takes to get there only to be told they didn't have all the items I ordered. Even though online said was in stock and was SOLD to me. Their in store inventory even said there was one left but said they count find it. Was told more world be delivered in 2 days. They will not ship to me. Said I could either drive back again to pick it up or order online and wait 2weeks for delivery. I will never shop here again. I spend so much here and up until this moment , I was recommending friends and family to get hair services here. The first time I made an appointment for a haircut I get there and get told oh the stylist called in. Then I went in a few other times to seeing people getting 20% off services that I never received. The last hair service I left with spots on my head after 6 hours. Now I'm not one to complain.. I deal with customers myself. But today , I took off work for an appointment booked 2 months ago to receive another call that the stylist called in. 30 mins before my appointment. And then told she's completely booked for another month.. really?? What kind of service is that? Not a discount , store credit , her day off .. anything offered but sorry for your luck! read more

Got a men's hair/barber service here. It was my first time going to Ulta for a men's hair/barber cut and they did come highly recommended through google searches, their Ulta Beauty website, and through locally word of mouth so I decided to take a chance with them. I call their store and was told that they didnt have any opening till a week later. I found that great that they were busy, and I book the appointment. I do recommend booking with them at you earliest convenience as they do seem busy. I did feel slightly bad because I did run 5 minutes late to the appointment, but I did call ahead and the person on the other line said it would be okay and that there was no rush because my stylist didn't have another booking till 2 hours from mine. Upon arriving at the store I was greeted by one of the staff members who did tell me about their promotions, however when I told her I was here for a haircut she just pointed to the back and told me I could find my stylist there. Going to their salon section/stations I found no one waiting for me, so I went to the back where another stylist was shampooing her client. I told her i was looking for my stylist Latisha and she just rolled her eyes and responded with an "Oh she may be in the front or the back... somewhere?." I understand that both the staff member in the front and the other stylist in the back where busy, HOWEVER I did notice that both of them were wearing headsets as to speak to other staff members and wondered why they didn't utilize them. Why have that device if youre not utilizing them for your customer or questions you need help with? I ended up asking each staff member on floor where my stylist was and finally found Latisha on floor helping out another customer (which is understandable). Upon going to her station she greeted me and did apologize for having to find her. I did find it a little weird though because she did comment that she didn't know that she was doing a men's haircut and barber cut today... did the person that took my phone call and booked my appointment not inform Latisha that she would be doing that service for me? At this point I was kinda questioning my decision to let her do my hair at all because I had such weird service so far, but i decided to suck it up and not be a completely rude client to her because those slight miscommunication weren't her fault. Her service and cut was pretty good. She showed true professional and was very friendly. I did show her reference photos and she did utilize the photo and reference for how she buzzed my hair. Overall her skills and customer service saved the strange experience I had with the rest of the staff. I will say you get the service you pay for. Men's cuts do run low at $25 so i decided to tip another $20 to Latisha as I did find that her professionalism shined through the best, however I will say the staff can make or break an experience. Again by the time I met Latisha I didnt want her to do my hair anymore because it was just a weird experience with their other staff. I do understand that Ulta is a retail store and salon, but through their websites and other locations they seem to pride themselves at being salon experts and customer service pros. I think instead of trying to just sell their products to customers they need to develop more skills into UNDERSTANDING THE CUSTOMERS NEEDS. Overall I'd give my stylist a 5 out 5, but since it was Ulta's company salon and the other staff were subpar I'm taking off 3 points for my overall experience. Yeah if I had to choose I would go to Latisha again, but probably not that salon/retail store. read more

I went for the 1 year Anniversary on Sat. Was expecting something fabulous and fun. This place has so much product but only a few of the staff actually work and try to help or you simply are on your own. We got there around noonish, the flyer said the party started at 10... hmmm when we got there none of the staff greeted us or explained any of the stuff they set up for this 1 year. In fact the 5 or 6 staff members that were gathering at the front door only stared at us like we interrupted a meeting. Awkward! We looked around, bought one item and left. I looked at the flyer later, said there was a face mask station, raffle and prizes... we must have missed it. I'm sure there are a lot of perks when shopping at Alta but I prefer Sephora. I went over to the benefit bar brow to check out the service menu and the staff there literally snubbed me, look I'm not the sensitive type but I know how customers should be approached. So maybe I came on a stressful day, I don't know. I do plan on coming back for a good deal but not my favorite store. read more

You may think Ulta for makeup and beauty products only, but they do have a full service salon well no nails but that's ok. I have been searching for a good hair salon with reasonable prices. I normally go to the beauty school, but that is hit and miss. It was my daughter's birthday and I had seen the salon in Ulta and gave it s try. We had Skylar do my daughter's hair. She was awesome very professional and nice. She did an outstanding job and the prices at the salon are reasonable. I did go back for myself and scheduled with Skyler. The store itself is great, I love the Ulta brand products and the great selection of different brands and also the travel sized products. I have been to other Ulta stores in California, and I have to say that the Kahului Maui Ulta has the worst customer service. Not only for just Ulta, but any store. For a "lead" customer service person to not tell you about any current deals/specials that they have going on that relates directly to the products that you are buying is unacceptable. I went to Kahului Ulta recently to just browse and ended up buying two items, this brand was having a deal "buy two, get one free", I didn't know at the time obviously but how does the "Lead" person not even say anything? After I got home from Ulta, I went online and found out that the products that I bought were buy one, get one free. My friend had asked one of the employees if they had anymore of a product that was on sale, but no longer on the shelf. The employee looked at my friend like, why are you talking to me? and said "no" and just walked away! I wanted to go back to complain, but the staffs attitude is so negative and draining, that it's not even worth my time. read more

Molly was amazing & definitely knows her stuff! She gave an amazing face scrub and made my face feel soo good. She tried to introduce me to a new foundation from Lancome which ended up being super heavy on my skin and I didnt feel confident or comfortable with it. She was nice enough to help find the one I've always used naked skin brand, and she was nice enough to help out it on for me. She did recommend something to help with acne better feeling less oily/dried face with was buy 1 and get 2nd one 50% off which turned out to be a smoking deal. Ulta Beauty has the WORSE and let me repeat the WORSE customer service EVER. I've worked in retail 10+ years and I have never seen such poor service. My mother and I walked in because she was in search for some products for her hair. It's was raining the whole day and when we went in to the store NO ONE greeted us. There were 2 associates that turned their heads looked at both me and my mom and then continued on with their conversation as if service was not a priority. I mean I get it, yes you work with a friend or some one you know BUT you are at work and as soon as customers step into the store the first thing is to "acknowledge/welcome" them in. That for me was strike one. As my mom and I walked through the store we seen a lot of associates restocking and talking stories and again not one of them said a simple "HI" or asked if we were looking for anything in particular.... STRIKE TWO. We then get to the hair product section of the store which is the back left corner, this is where their back room/restock door is, a lady came out and again we get nothing but a stare. STRIKE THREE. I highly suggest that the associates retrained OR management to be more strict when it comes to customer service. read more

Nothing was in it's right place, I went to go try to find the makeup I usually wear and no one would help me. The guy in there just said no, we don't have that, but didn't actually look at me and say it to me, instead just told his coworker loudly. Then he went off in the corner and did his make up the rest of the time I was there trying to find what I was looking for. None of the samples match their name plaques, it was messy. No one cared. Finally went to check out Ulta beauty this weekend. I bought two hair masks , and peppermint thyme body wash ( which smells amazing). They have a really good selection of products ranging from drugstore brand to higher end products. PRO: I like the store over-all; good location, lots of products offered, and they do have a free rewards program (you get a free birthday item..yay!). CON: some of the products are over priced. You can walk nextdoor (Big box store starting with a T) and get the same things, for cheaper. So while i will be shopping here in the future, they wont be getting ALL my beauty related business. Oddities : While on the floor browsing products, no one came up to me and asked if i needed help. Also, when checking out, it was hard to tell where to stand and wait, as there was no "line starts here " signage. read more
