Saw Seth at the Ulta Beauty Lansing store for highlights. I am so disappointed in the results, ridiculous prices, and add-on treatments I didn't request. I spent over $500 in a month for partial highlights which is absurd for this area and at a store salon, no-less. This isn't some posh salon in a big city. He explained to me this would be a "hair journey" because I had colored my hair 6 mos prior. I understood, but with the understanding that after each appt I would be getting closer to my desired highlights. I was seen on 6/17 with excessively priced, poorly placed large, harsh, chunks of brassy bright yellow/orange highlights on my hairline and crown, nowhere else, other than a large random highlight on the back of my head. I wanted to cry and hid at home or under hats for several weeks. Next seen 7/31 with appt at 3. He text me to tell me he was running behind, to come 15-20 mins later. No problem. I walked into the store at exactly 3:15. He tells me he actually ended up being on time. Before we got started he says his next client is scheduled at 4 and may not have much time to do my hair, as if it were my fault. So unprofessional. I was expecting to see some progress at this appt, instead after putting in 8-10 foils, I'm told it was going to be even brighter and still brassy. the exact opposite of what I wanted. I share my concerns, he's obviously annoyed and tells me I'm pushing back against his plan. He is full of himself and thinks he is some brilliant colorist. I disagree. The foils were pulled off, rinsed out, and I left. A few days later I went to another salon and found a great stylist, who fixed it and for only $140, including a conditioning treatment and cut. The salon was anything but relaxing. The stylist next to him was constantly, loudly, and obnoxiously talking and laughing. Seth barely spoke to me and positioned my head in unnecessary and uncomfortable positions. It was odd. I wouldn't recommend Seth or the salon. read more

Perhaps the worst experience I've had at an Ulta Salon period. Marissa was nice, but I left with frizzy hair, parted down the middle (not the side like I wear it) and with no real style. The lashes she applied were asymmetric, which I asked her to fix. I removed them in the parking lot car. Waste of money and time. Extremely poor attention to detail and customer service. I came all the way from Chicago, tired and stopped in as a quiiick stop, quick necessities, however his hospitality drew my friend and I in and we stayed longer than intended! I am very disappointed in this establishment. It's not the first time I have gone into Ulta at this location, but I won't be back soon. Every time I go there I have absolutely no one offering to help me or assist me when I am looking for an item which I was looking for a specific perfume today. One of the workers was just standing talking with somebody and looking at cell phone pictures and conversing at length. No one else seemed to be around to help me, and as I said earlier, I have had this problem here before, and my husband said he experienced the same thing. Customer service seems to be underwhelming here. I will take my time before I return. Maybe Customerservice will improve in the meantime. read more

There was a very long line and staff was being incredibly inefficient. I understand wanting to upsell products but in the long run they are losing money because they are losing customers with their poor service. There was also 3 staff for two registers and no one on the floor. Before you ask no none of them were in training. read more

DO NOT LET JEHAN WAX YOUR EYEBROWS. If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. I went in to receive a brow wax at this location by Jehan and ended up having the skin below my eyebrow ripped off of my face. So much was taken off that it left scabs above both of my eyes and made it extremely painful to wash my face for a week. It took a week for the scabs to heal. When I reached out to Ulta I received a call from the store manager here who gently accused me of not reading the release and implied that I was possibly using chemical products that may have caused this. For the record I only use the Tula milk cleanser for sensitive skin and coconut oil to moisturize. I do not use harsh chemicals on my face. The manager said I could come in for a refund. A refund was the bare minimum they possibly could have done when I had to work with the public with scabs on my face that made it look like my husband beats me but I thought what more could they really do? When I came in for the refund, I was told that not only would the tip I left on my card not be refunded to me (I get they can't take the money from the brow tech but Ulta should have covered this so my full amount was refunded) but that they couldn't refund the money to my card and had to give me store credit instead. I'm so disappointed in this company, I always thought they were better than that. Needless to say I will NEVER be back to any Ulta location for any reason. read more

Had an amazing experience at Ulta today! I met Jamie and shared with her the dilemma I was having with my hair. She quickly shared with me a few of her ideas and I scheduled an appointment immediately. I couldn't be happier with my results. Not only did she take time to perfect my hair but it was also a fun experience. I showed her a few pictures of what I had in mind and sure enough it was spot on. Love love love my hair!!! I've always loved how everyone was so sweet and personable here! But my problem is with the salon wait time. I originally had an appointment time set for 4:00 and I've been waiting over a half hour to even get started. All I got was a trim and it took them that long to even help me. Don't get me wrong, this is a nice store. There are certainly plenty of customer service representatives to go around and rest assured, they will ask you if you need any help approximately 5 to 10 times during your visit, no matter how many times you tell them that you're doing just fine. They will also take it upon themselves to look into your shopper and say wow looks like you're getting this lipstick, this eyeshadow, and this today! I'm not sure about you, but personally I do not need to be treated like I have my own personal barnacle while making my own choices in a beauty store like this. If I need help, I will ask. It's good to know that I am not the only person that has been pretty much stalked all around the store by a customer service representatives asking if there's anything they can help me with. The last time I was in the store, I counted and I think they asked me if they could help me with something 17 times! It got to the point where I was laughing it was that ridiculous. I don't like it when I'm just trying to enjoy some time by myself to browse and constantly being poked and prodded by over attentive staff who are pestering and basically hinting that I'm up to something. read more

Last night I went to Ulta right after work because I needed some face wash. I'm a baker, so I was wearing my crocs that were covered in maple frosting and god only knows what else, my very unflattering and potato-sacky looking winter coat cause it's been freezing, and my hair and face were looking a hot mess from being at work all day. So when a very sweet girl started to tell me "you have such pretty---", I really had absolutely no idea where she was going with that statement. But she said I had really pretty eyes. The only good customer service I had was from the cashier she was very kind and attentive but my problem was when I got into the store a sales rep kept following me around. it was very annoying after I told her that I was fine multiple times she looked very concerned at what I was doing I could only assume it was because of the color of my skin because no one other customers I saw there were getting nearly as much attention as I was that is a first for me so I am pretty distraught by the situation read more

DO NOT GET YOUR MAKEUP DONE HERE!!! I went to get my makeup here for a special occasion and left looking horrible. The makeup was super oily and the eye makeup was not blended and just looked bad. The artist did not listen to my requests or recommendations based on how I know my skin is. I ended up having to go home and wash it all off and do it myself. It was a complete waste of $60 and I would HIGHLY recommend not getting your makeup done here. read more

How cheap. They wouldn't even let me walk out of there with a product sample and said I had to stay in the store if I wanted to try it. Funny Sephora doesn't have this issue. The store itself is fine although I feel like I get hawk-eyed walking in and the check out line can get ridiculously long and slow sometimes. read more
