The location is probably the biggest draw to this Ulta. Manassas is a pain to get places without sitting in traffic (at any time of day, unfortunately.) This Ulta is in a shopping center with several other well-known businesses making it very convenient to pop in without having to continue driving elsewhere. The selection is about 6/10, not bad but nothing to get excited about. The staff was a downer. They had no interest in helping out. It seemed the only time they left the counter was to go check every shopper to see if they were shoplifting. It didn't exactly give off a customer-centric vibe. It was rather uncomfortable. They must have a lot of theft. Maybe they'd have less theft if they bothered to interact with their customers and not just "monitor" them. read more

Their prices on colognes have increased greatly. Don't worry as this is everywhere. Also big department stores, usually have more of a selection. Ulta is primarily for the ladies. They have who knows how many cosmetics, and the employees are doing various skin treatments and the like. It's weird that the service in the cologne section is tepid at best. Once you find an employee it's helpful, but the focus seems elsewhere. Also I wish they had more sizes available too. For what it's worth a decent store. I've never once had a problem with any one of the many employees at this Ulta and I've showed up in sweatpants, jeans, work attire, with no purse, and with an expensive purse and have always been treated the exact same every time. She didn't bother to actually look at what color highlights my Mom wanted and gave her a brassy blonde all over highlight which is NOT what my mom requested. No toner no deep condition NOTHING and you charged her $200 plus a tip which you didn't deserve considering you did a terrible job. Your stylist had her sitting in the chair for I KID YOU NOT 9 hours!!!! That is unheard of for any hair style especially for a short hair length. She didn't have long hair or any underlying hair color that needed reprocessing. You also chopped her hair up very unevenly...then after 9 brutal hours of sitting in your chair with product killing her hair you then had the nerve to try and upsell her on some garbage products...Ulta do better and hire stylists that actually know how to do their job. However, they don't have many of the products for natural hair are in stock (this was the only reason for my trip). They are working to address this but for now your best bet is online. Also, their was some confusion when trying to book beauty services with regard to what services they were performing. It was a bit annoying but not the end of the world. Had a great experience today. The associate, Brooklin, went above and beyond and even remembered to check back with us after she needed to help some other customers. When we thought something was out of stock she knew there was more and got it for us (and restocked that product very quickly). Came in today for a brow wax and eyebrow tint. I've had my eyebrows dyed and tinted before, had great and terrible experiences. Today was another TERRIBLE experience. Pros: Amber was super nice & friendly Waxing area was clean Appointment started on time Cons: I showed the color LIGHT BROWN that I wanted, explained how they've gotten too dark in the past and how it was awful. My eyebrows aren't even So, the salon didn't make me pay for the terrible color I received but did make me pay for the wax. I did pay them and didn't argue too much, but let's be honest my eyebrows are now purple I will not be showing off my uneven eyebrows for a while. Amber was nice about it and apologized and tried using oil based makeup remover to strip some color and color removing wipes- nothing worked. She recommended I use an oil based makeup remover ( I don't have one) and don't want to buy one for this one time so now I'm looking up home remedies which include baking soda. Yesterday I went to ULTA for a haircut. I'm usually a cheap Haircuttery type of person but decided since it had been 9 months, I'd pay a little more. The three pictures on the left and top were what Mimi did to my hair. My son witnessed as the girl cut 1 inch off my hair when I showed her a picture (of myself from 2 years ago) and said that I wanted the same hair cut - about 5 inches cut off. I cautiously said that I thought it was shorter in the picture and showed it to her again. Again, she cut off an inch. I again told her cautiously that I thought it was shorter. She was making rude comments under her breath and cut it again. When she handed me the mirror at the end I pointed out that it was very crooked in the back but she told me that was how it should be, and at that point I left. Friends were shocked when I got home and showed them how bad and crooked everything was. So my first warning is to NEVER use Mimi at ULTA. On a positive note, I called the manager, Nicole, this morning, and told her what happen. She told me to come back and someone else would fix it. I showed them my hair when I got back and they too were shocked. The good news is that Starlett was amazing and she fixed it, no charge. She was professional and did a great job (that's the bottom right corner picture) so that it was the length of the picture and was actually even. So NEVER use Mimi, but I'd highly recommend Starlett. I am a self-proclaimed makeup addict, It's okay, I've accepted it. It's also a lot safe than heroin. (Although sure isn't cheaper.) They know me by name here. I don't know if that is a good thing, or bad. Anyhow... they just revamped the store. Moved things around, and I love it. It really opened the place up and I think it's easier to get around. I love the ladies that work here. They know me, they know what I like, and they know my skin tone. I've never used the salon services at this location, but my step mother has. She raves about them. I just visited this Ulta location- the Saturday before Christmas!!! Not the time for a store to shine, but Ulta at Manassas really did! They were fully staffed with very helpful and friendly people who were ready to give advice and share great deals. I went in with NO makeup and feeling dumpy, but they treated me like a star! There is one review in particular I would like to address. I have been going to Ulta at the Manassas location now for over 2 years. First, my hair never looked better. I came in with damaged hair and had to do the big chop. My hair has never been healthier now that it is growing. I get compliments all the time. Thanks to all the wonderful beauticians at the salon. Contrary to one of the posts I read, the staff there are awesome. They are professional, courteous and friendly. They have several master level stylist who really know what they are doing, no matter what type of hair you have, they can do it all and then some. I am picky, so the fact that I am still going there after all these years is a testament to how awesome they are. To say all the staff are rude and should be fired is unethical and frankly very mean. I would propose be on time, if not, call. Be considerate to the person who is doing your hair, (I know these stylist well, they will stay past their normal hours to accommodate their clients) do not show up late as you are not the only client, being late not only puts the stylist behind, but all the rest of clients are now having to wait. Lastly, if you feel they are rude, then I suggest you go somewhere else as these group of stylist work hard and on their feet everyday; often without a break. They do this so we all look good. Would be 1 star if they weren't the only makeup specialized store in the Manassas area. The employees here fawn over certain individuals while the rest of us are completely invisible. I guess I didn't look like I had enough money to spend for them to bother wasting their time on me. Or maybe I wasn't pretty enough. I don't know what their reasoning is for choosing certain people to butter up. Joke's on them though. I brought plenty of cash with me since my intention was to make a huge purchase. I was in looking for suggestions and makeup to add to my bridal arsenal, since I'm getting married in the spring. SALON REVIEW: LOVE this place! A very clean, well kept, easy-going place to pamper yourself with a new hair style. If you go, ask for Justin! I went in looking for a new look(highlights, dramatic haircut, the whole 9-yards), I was a bit nervous at first because I've had a few disastrous haircuts in the past(let's face it we all have). Justin was great though! He was very friendly and easy to talk to, you can really tell he cares about his clientele. Are used to believe that this Ulta beauty store was the absolute best. Beyond a five point review! However I have been there three different times in three different days. I originally bought a huge hall of make up like I do once or twice every year and get everything I need with no problem. However this time I received not only one pencil eyeliner from Stilla that did not work at all, there wasn't a pencil inside of the tube except for maybe an inch that you couldn't even scroll up to use. I bring it back the next day and I get Kat Von D eyeliner in deep brown. I got it for a really good price for a cat Bondi product so it was extremely excited. Today I tried to use my eyeliner's and came to the conclusion that the KVD liquid eyeliner had no liquid in it or it had been so dry and out that you could not get any liquid out of it as well as the felts tip application brush looked like a blending eyeshadow brush. I go back just now and I talked to a very nice employee who seemed very genuine and wanted to help me fix the situation. So we start going through the KVD eyeliners and I asked her if I could make sure that they all worked so I did not have to return to the store again. Not one, not two, not three, but every liquid eyeliner brown and black that they had out for purchase had the same exact issues. So I eventually grab a benefit deepest brown liquid eyeliner with a felt tip that I could find and I told them that I expected to be able to pay the same price considering this is not my fault and I had already been here dealing with the same issues for going on two days. The The staff member seemed very nice and she said she was going to get the manager in to go to the register so I did I told the woman at the register what was going on and then the manager came Hoona only rolled her eyes and looked at me and then gave me an attitude for not wanting to pay any more money than what I had paid for the previous eyeliners that did not work but also decided to roll her eyes at me you! To say I'm disappointed is an understatement because the majority of their employees are absolutely wonderful and I usually have great experiences at this store. This manager and one other employee have literally made the last three days of my life not only a living hell but have made me feel absolutely embarrassed to want and asked to get what I paid for and not have to pay an up charge of $20 when they tried to upsell me on a different liquid eyeliner. It makes me feel like I am not valued as a customer and I am not about to be as classless as the manager was acting like a high school student because she didn't feel like dealing with it when it was her problem to begin with. If you do not like your job or want to deal with customer service issues how about you get another job! I apologize to all of those reading that noticed there are grandma Cole issues. I am using voice text at the moment and I also have a southern accent so it does not pick up on everything.
