The week of Christmas I had an appointment at another salon and was left on unattended for over a half an hour. I left and started home when I decided to stop at Ulta in Marlboro. Maria hairstylist, greeted me, even though she was busy she accepted me as a client. She did a fantastic job with my color and blowout that day! I have since been there two more times for a blowout and a haircut and color again. Maria is talented, professional and friendly. She turned a disappointing day into a wonderful experience. The worst I've ever been to, the worst employees who make you feel super unwelcome and I spend a lot of money on Ulta. They follow you around and make you uncomfortable like as if you're going to rob them. I won't go to this ultra. Coming from Staten Island I will go back there to get my eyebrows done. I won't spend a dollar in this one, and I live up the block. I'll drive to freehold. the manager older lady with brown hair and a blonde two older women who have NO BUSINESS working with people I don't know how one became a manager. They actually will give you dirty looks as you shop until you leave. I don't even know what I did other than spend a fortune in the store. This Ulta salon is definitely one of the better locations in the area. I've tried a few and my best experiences are always at the Marlboro location. ****Some of the stylists that I have personally dealt with: Maria, Sabrina, Hannah. As someone who had virgin hair, I was always nervous and very hesitant when it came to getting my hair done and coloring my hair, something I always wanted to do but was always scared. These ladies have all made me feel so comfortable and always walk me through what I am getting done (which is great because I panic when it comes to my hair). Brie is super understanding and just a joy to be around. Not to mention her talent! She leaves me feeling confident & with healthy hair every time. Maria is super skilled and truly an elite stylist. She dyed my hair for the first time ever and it was truly beautiful, and she found a way to do it with minimal bleach (my biggest fear). These stylists know what they are doing & if you find your hair precious like I do, book your appointment at the Marlboro salon! They will do you right! read more

Hands down the Marlboro Ulta location is the worst Ulta I have ever been in. Majority of staff act like you are invisible - numerous employees are having conversations with one another while forcing the new staff to deal with the long lines of customers. i see this over and over again. Like some sort of evil initiation for the new person. I just spent 15 minutes inside waiting for a pick up order. The first woman who tried to help me did her best, but she was waiting on customers and had 5 people waiting in the pick up line and her colleagues were walking around and chatting. The woman who eventually helped did not even acknowledge my presence - she literally referred to me in the third person as I was standing right there. This after she shoved by me without as much as an excuse me. When I got to the store I was the only person waiting for a pick up order and there were only two people on line waiting to check out. I could have shopped and made my purchases in store quicker. I guess I'll be late to my conference call - silly me, I thought order pick ups were time savers!! Wow how this store has changed in the past year and a half. Employees are always, always crabby and never want to help you. Their coupons aren't valid on any of the premium cosmetic brands. Samples...pfft...keep dreaming. You can spend $200 and not get a single free sample. If you ask for samples be prepared to get looked at like you just grew another head. Saving the best for last...check expiration dates. I just purchased a product that expired 5 months ago :( I really loved this place when they first opened. I liked the fact that they had high and low end products and it was way more convenient than traveling to the mall for Sephora. Back to Sephora I go. Get it together Ulta. Extremely disappointed in the salon. I booked a hair appointment for my daughter before school so she has the hair she wants before she starts high school. They called me the day before saying the stylist we booked doesn't "cut short hair." My daughter has short hair and needed a trim. When I called the salon back, they said it's because that particular stylist is in training and doesn't have experience cutting short hair yet. Now I'm scrambling to find an appointment somewhere else which is almost impossible right before Labor Day weekend and school starting. I have used Ultra three times first for my daughter's sister wedding then for one of my son's wedding and just Saturday for my own son's wedding I believe it is Christina who did my makeup and she is a cute young talented makeup artist. Compliments were flowing ea time it was done. Only have had my make up done in my life three times with them but ea time better than the next. Highly recommend my makeup girl tell her Cheryl Grzyb recommended her highly. My hair as well done three times ea different for ea of my children wedding up do's since in my 59 years of life I only had short hair and grew out especially for these weddings. They do excellent work and friendly so give them a try pricing competitive and reasonable not a bad thing to say just a big Thank you!!! read more

I never had such an uncomfortable experience as I did on 3/27/24 and 3/28/24. I walked in and needed assistance with make-up, one of the females saw me looking for someone and turned her head, I said excuse me and she walked past me and said one minute with a bag of garbage in her hand. I waited for 10 minutes for her to come back. I watched her walk out the back, see me and turn back around. I waited another 10 minutes, she finally came out and assured someone else. I left. I went back the next day, same woman in the area, I approached another young lady who looked at me as if she wasn't there to assist anyone. I finally said, I need help, her response ok and stared at me. I proceed to tell her what I needed, next response, ok and stood there. Once I guided her to different products, she finally got it together. During check out, the young lady at the register, gave me a not so friendly look and talked extremely low where I had to keep asking her to repeat herself. Overall horrible customer service. I only purchased at this location because I needed the items asap. I have never felt more uncomfortable than I did these past two days. One supervisor/manager was the only one with a pleasant attitude despite her being busy assisting everyone. It's sad that these are customer service representative and i felt anything but welcomed in that store, except for the manager/supervisor. I work in serving the community and on my worst day I would never make anyone feel unwelcome. read more

Very nice store. The layout of their cosmetics is not cluttered and everything is very organized. I only have four stars because they don't carry Lancôme or Clinique. They stated because they're new, those higher end cosmetics want to see how they do. I was assisted by Anna who recommended a wonderful foundation for me. I was hesitant between two colors in the Philosophy: Hope in a Jar collection. We wound up going with Miracle because I want a tad bit more coverage. She not only color matched me, but she taught me how to use contour and highlight. Now some may think it's easy but I am not in the mood to look like a clown. It was flawless and natural looking. Most of the time I buy a product, worry about the color after I get home because I didn't 100% trust the Ulta beauty consultant. This time, I feel great about my purchases. Will be back. read more

I love Ulta, and Ulta will always be one of my favorites! It's a super clean store, it has great products, and friendly staff! This one has all of the same staples! It is in my opinion pricier than other stores, However, I really think you get your bang for your bucks! Everything here is great quality, and the store definitely always has that great perfume smell when entering! I could give this store ENDLESS stars. First off, the staff is always friendly and helpful. I've been to many ultas in the area and this is always my favorite. It's quiet in here which I like, the staff is friendly however does not hover over and pressure you like other cosmetic departments I've been in. The salon is always great as well! I've gotten my hair done here plenty of times. I would definitely recommend Taylor or Maria. Ulta ALWAYS has great prices, promotions and a great reward system. I would not recommend the salon for make-up or hair. I booked 2 appointments at this salon 3 months in advance for prom. Although I had a wonderful consultation with Bree on the phone, the make-up appointment was taken by another cosmetician who made my daughter look heavily made up and completely inappropriate for the make-up of a youthful 17 year old attending prom. I told her it was too heavy and her reponse was well maybe she is not used to a full coverage foundation....really???? When I mentioned to Brittany, the hair stylist that the make-up wasn't good and I wanted someone else to work on my other daughter, she responded "we are fully booked". So does that mean you now have an excuse for poor work? While one daughter was waiting to have her hair done, I asked this same girl if someone would attend to her soon since we had a picture appointment booked elsewhere, she told me to relax. I said I am relaxed, I am just asking a question. At this point, I TOOK A DEEP BREATH AND LEFT THE STORE TO CALM MYSELF DOWN. The salon manager was made aware that I was unhappy and never came out to say anything. As I was paying by bill and leaving, the store manager checked me out and asked me if I left the girls a tip. I said, yes, I tipped who I wanted to. She asked me if I was willing to give feedback and I spent about 10 minutes explaining to her and even showing her a text about how unhappy my daughter was with her make-up that she was going to go home to try and fix it. She asked if I was willing to speak to the salon manager and I asked her what could you possibly do at this point? She mentioned a refund for the make-up. They would call me during the week to follow up and all I needed to do was answer some questions. Well, great except no-one has called or followed up. Which is even worse than not offering anything at all. I told her this is my daughter's prom, its a big day for me and I left during make-up because I was so upset with your staff. Your staff took something away from what should have been a really happy day. Shame on you Ulta for poor customer service and follow through. I waited a week to post this to see if you would call and you didn't except now I'm not mad or disappointed. Good customer service starts with management. read more

Very annoying to call this place and the phone never gets answered. When I bring this to their attention, they respond with, "Oh, there were a lot of calls." You can't even leave a message! Also, there's no WiFi in the salon. You can't get your email or texts while getting your hair done. Hours without email is crazy. read more

today i went and got a facial with the skin therapist, Kryssa. she did an excellent job and even though i only did the 30 min facial, she made my skin glowly, fresh, and flawless! it was extremely relaxing and she made sure to explain what each product did and what it was. she later on helped me find a few items to maintain my beautiful skin. i did rebook with her and cannot wait to see her again. also, i was somewhat nervous because of the fact i have very sensitive skin but Kryssa was sure to make sure i did not get irritated. can't say it enough, Ulta's salon is great! This place is pretty good when it comes to doing makeup. I had my daughter's makeup done for the school dance and it came out gorgeous. They also waxed her eyebrows and they turned out good. The staff is helpful and I would definitely recommend this place. read more

The service in this salon is horrible. They charge salon prices but are not a "real" salon. They make appointments, text you to confirm, and then when you get there you are told it was a mistake and they can't actually take you. No consideration for people or their schedules. They really do not know what they are doing! Go to an actual salon. For the same price you will be treated much better and be happy with the results. read more

I have yet to have a positive experience in this store, the people that work there are beyond rude. I just had another bad experience. I had a coupon and wanted to try and scan it to see if it would take anything off of the $100+ purchase I was making. The woman at the register refused to even try scanning it. I politely asked her numerous times and she just kept repeating herself....it won't work. I understand that I was buying the higher brands, and chances are it wouldn't work, but why not try it? She just kept saying no and I held the coupon up to her. I had a similar experience during the shampoo sale, trying to purchase biolage shampoo and conditioner. The one type I wanted to purchase was not showing up as not part of the sale in the store, but it was showing as part of the sale online. She specifically told her not to make it short and her graduation in 2 weeks!!! Also she went with black hair and wanted to make it a burgundy color, she made it ugly brown highlights then after a couple of days which is today, she told her to come back to finish the job and make it burgundy BUT it turned out to be BLACK again as is!!!!! My direct experience and observed experience with other customers is that they are rude when asked a question. On the flip side theirs ample parking with a whole foods next door. I walked in and stopped to look around so I could see if I saw the beauty line I needed.. this was only my second time at this location and I have no clue where anything is. There was an associate directly up front as soon as I walked in. She didn't say hi, let alone even turn around from doing her makeup. I walked up to her and said excuse me, and boy lemme tell you when this chick turned around the look on her face woulda made you thought I went to her house on her day off while she's chillin and asked her a question. Attempted to make purchase in store this evening however left my coupon at home so showed cashier my phone with coupon code. She refused to take it and even threw out a coupon given to me by another customer after she grabbed it out of my hand. Proceeded to delay my sale and keep other customers waiting while my phone loaded another scamnable coupon code. While she identified herself as one of the managers, her rude attitude and disrespect caused me to walk out of the store. I will never shop there. Never had issues in Sephora. Well the red headed worker with the tattoos had to be the rudest employee I've ever met. Blatantly lied to me about not having the product because she was too lazy to look in the back at 11:15 in the morning. And I say blatant liar because I left the store, called another Ulta and asked if they had this product, and they said "yes we do it's just not out on the floor yet because we're setting the fixture, I can hold it for you though to come get." And I told her about what this store said to me and she told me that they 100% have it in their back room and are setting it as well, and apologized for how rude that employee was. THEY HAVE THE PRODUCT IN THE BACK ROOM. So I am currently on my way to the other location because I'll never step foot in this one again. I stopped in here looking for a color gloss treatment for my fried summer hair. There was no one from the hair dept to assist me, so the woman from skin care tried her best. She gets 5 stars! Annoying policy of being asked your phone number when you go to check out, and if you decline to give your personal information because it is a private number, you are told that you cannot return anything unless you belong to the Ultimate Rewards Program, even if you have a receipt. I was in contact twice about this situation that happened to me on 2 different occasions in the Marlboro, NJ store. Both times the Corporate representative told me that it is "absolutely not Ulta's policy that you have to belong to their rewards program in order to return an item." Unlike most people I suppose, I am not interested in belonging to any type of rewards program. I would just like to buy something without being harassed that unless I give my personal information, I cannot return something. I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure that this is illegal. If not illegal, it's pretty unethical and good enough reason for me to go back to shopping at Sephora. They at least have the professionalism and courtesy of asking if you belong to their "rewards" program, and, if you do not, end of story. read more
