I love the convenient location of this Ulta store. I can run in, pick up an item, then do additional shopping nearby (e.g., WHBM, Soma, Nordstrom Rack, TJMaxx), and finally pick up dinner at one of the restaurants nearby or at Trader Joe's. Even though this Ulta doesn't carry all the premium makeup brands that the Cary/Crossroads Blvd has (e.g., Chanel, Dior), it is nice spacious store with plenty products to choose from. I thought the entire experience was amazing, from the detail of putting out a foot rest during a conditioning treatment, to taking the time to demonstrate how to curl my hair at home. What an awful Ulta. The store is a mess! I wandered around for half an hour and no one ever asked if I needed help. I must've looked at 30+ testers and 98% were either dried out, rancid, or completely gone. There were products on the floor in multiple areas of the store. All this while a bunch of the employees stood around laughing and talking crudely about how someone had stunk up the bathroom. The irony is that I was sniffing perfume testers while they were talking and I couldn't help but wonder why no one just grabbed a tester to spray? Granted, it was really hard to find any that were both usable (most of the spray tops were removed) and actually had some liquid in the bottles. But cmon, do better guys. Sheesh. read more

My favorite stylist was moved to the Morrisville, NC location which is about a half hour's drive for me. I had no problem making the trip. Never again! The management is terrible! After making an online appointment to get my hair touched up, the salon canceled and attempted to reschedule it it three times in the same week. Two cancelations were since the stylist was sick (understandable), and one time because the stylist wanted to push it back an hour since she had another client's appointment running over. I made a fourth attempt that week (on a Sunday), drove the half hour, and waited an additional hour after my booked appointment before I just left. I'm furious and disappointed that the salon was taking calls while I was waiting and booking the stylist for that same day even though I was waiting patiently to be seen. They clearly do not respect their client's time nor do they respect their stylist's limitations of helping one client at a time. Shame on you Ulta Beauty!! read more

Always check your receipt before leaving the store!! Terrible customer service. I was suppose to get a birthday gift for free but it ended up costing me $19.00! The cashier didn't take the gift price off. So now I'm supposed to go back to the store which I purchased this from and get a refund. Well, that's 2 hours away for me and the closest Ulta is 40 minutes. The main customer service line can't send a return label because it was "purchased" in the store! Well, I wouldn't have even gotten this item if it wasn't free. Lots of frustration. CS offered to give me a coupon for another birthday gift, but I have to go and return this item - my"free gift!" I thought I was paying a little more than I expected, but I had my receipt emailed instead of printed so I didn't check it right away. Lesson learned. read more

Went here with my daughter, teenager and actually liked the place. They have a lot of products. And the store was very neat. She gives them a thumbs up. The customer service was excellent. I went back to complain and they redid my hair worse than the last time. It's one straight across line that doesn't fade at all. My hair is unpresentable even in a bun. I got married last Saturday and had an appt at the Durham location on Friday. I had made my hair appt online - DO NOT TRUST THE ONLINE SYSTEM! My appt was not in their system and there was no stylist available. I called the Morrisville and got lucky enough that there was an available spot. I got the sweet, chatty Sabrina. She did EXACTLY what I wanted and I couldn't be happier with my cut. Ulta needs to get rid of the online appointment setting! I heard from multiple locations that this is a source of problems. The Ulta in Morrisville also need a sign to tell customers where the restroom is. Every minute or so a customer tries to walk into the shampoo area thinking it's the restroom. Sabrina would have to stop talking and, very politely, redirect the customer to the restroom. I will definitely be back and definitely recommend Sabrina! read more

The tacky and rude cashier took care of them first when they shouldn't have been. They need to define their lines, grab another cashier, and learn to not judge a book by their cover. I was a little apprehensive to get a haircut at Ulta, as I have never used their salon before, but I was pleasantly surprised! Caitlin did an excellent job and I am so happy with my haircut!!! I greatly appreciated that she really listened to exactly what I wanted and even reiterated it with me three times prior to cutting my hair. After cutting my hair, she also measured to make sure it was even on each side which as a Type A personality, I really appreciated. Additionally, the price was affordable as I have previously gone to other local salons, that I felt were just way too expensive and didn't listen to my needs. The salon isn't the fanciest experience, but personality I would forgo that for someone who listens to me, instead of cutting it too short and making me cry (this happened at a prior local salon). Furthermore, the online booking was so easy and convenient. I am so happy with my haircut! I will absolutely being going back and definitely recommend others to go here as well! read more

I have been to this Ulta twice now and I absolutely love it! It's a big store with a huge variety of drugstore makeup, high-end makeup, skincare, and haircare, plus it has a salon. The sales associates are very friendly and helpful but aren't too pushy or annoying. I actually had a nice personal conversation with a sales associate today, which goes to show how awesome the staff is here! The sales prices on their products like hair products are always unclear as far as which sizes are buy one, get one free or half price, etc. Also, it seems like they are always out of the product I want. There is typically a rather long wait at check out. It would be nice to have makeup remover available for customers like they do at Sephora for when you are trying on products. So I'm usually a huge fan of the place and went with high hopes for a haircut having gotten one done before too for a trim . I asked the hairdresser named Taylor to cut off two inches and showed her how much and also specified that id like a layered cut . She didn't inform me or ask me any questions throughout the process and just kept at doing what she did . She didn't check in with me and just said she will probably cut it a quarter inch shorter than I asked and I said fine . When I looks back , she had chopped off 6 inches of my long hair and rather than layers the front layer and back were almost the same . I hate my new look and I've had long hair all my life so I really don't know how to go about this . To top it all she gave me the most pathetic blow dry that slicked down my hair and made it look oily. I didn't want to create a scene and reprimand her since I couldn't get my hair back and I should have checked in between maybe but even then there is no level of professionalism and horrid customer service . Didn't want to tip and was asked three times if I'd like to but I didn't give anything . I'm thoroughly annoyed and don't want to look myself in the mirror cause I look ridiculous and now won't be coming back ever . read more

This was my first visit to this ULTA Salon, when I arrived without an appt I was warmly greeted by Cailtlyn. We talked for 15 minutes or so about what I wanted and my past with hair care. She really made me feel like she wanted to know EVERYTHING I've done to my hair to ensure the best results. After being in her chair 2-3 hours I now have the exact cut and highlights that I wanted. I have had several bad encounters at the salon. Salons "techs" are not trained enough and don't seem too concerned to listen to what you want done. They seem like a clique and gather in groups to chat all the time. Not using using Ulta's salon services again! Went to Ulta and spoke with Kelly about my eyebrows being too light. She offered to shape and tint them for me. I will admit I was a little nervous but my daughter told me to let her do it, and she did a FABULOUS job! It took years off my face. I have such light eyebrows that I really thought they were sparse. I was not greeted when I walked in the store....needless to say the customer that entered the door behind me was greeted. I walked around aimlessly because I could not find what I was looking for. As I approached an associate, she turned to do something else.WHY WAS I NOT ASKED AM I FINDING EVERYTHING OK???? I finally found what I was looking for after 15 minutes. When I got to the register, there were exactly 4 associates behind the counter and one in front of the counter, but yet I patiently waited for 4 WHOLE minutes to be asked was I ready to check out. NO other customer was in front on me. So I don't get that at all. Got my haircut here and will never go back. Just wanted a trim and to clean things up. When it came time to blow dry, the stylist wanted to style it wavy/curly, even though that's not how I wear my hair. I now know why...she wanted to cover up the mess she made. Horrible choppy and uneven layers. Looked like a mullet when I straightened it. Went to another stylist and she spent over an hour fixing it. She could not believe a licensed stylist did this. I had a horrible experience at this store with customer service. They really don't care about the customer. I went in to buy 3 eye pencils -2 brown and 1 gray. I found out when I looked it up on-line that it was buy 2 get 1 free. But at the check out , the young cashier said the sale price doesn't apply in the store. There was NO wording to that effect on the ULTA website. She said I could order it online and pick it up in the store. But advised against ordering it on my phone and waiting, b/c it will take an hour to get the order together. Not sure why it would take an hour as she has the order in her hand. But alas, it will take an hour. I asked her to leave it up at the desk and let the person pulling the order know that the items are up at the front desk. I go home to place the order and the system says they only have 1 brown pencil in stock. NO... you have two b/c i just left the store and I had 2 brown pencils. So, I order a 3rd color with the intention of exchanging it for brown (b/c I know they have 2 brown in stock). 90 minutes later I get an email telling me that they have no brown pencils in stock. Arg- you have 2 in stock!! I call the store and talk to another young person about this order. She says she can tell my why the issue with the brown pencil likely occurred.... b/c when a customer brings up an item and decides they don't want it, they have to put it into quarantine for 3 days. Really??? Wouldn't it make sense for the cashier to have told me that bit of information... in the event they don't have any more brown pencils to pull from. So I proceed to tell this young lady that ULTA really has poor customer service. I am not happy and she knows it. She tells me I can cancel my order and hangs up on me! So how is that for customer service!! I did contact corporate and she is filing a complaint on my behalf. I will be contacting the manager of the store about this also, but I don't have high hopes that this person will really care either. read more

In terms of cleanliness and ease of finding the brands you're looking for, this branch does well. However, in terms of customer service and outright consumer satisfaction, ulta deserves NO STARS at all. This is the only ulta branch -that I've been to- that harbors racist employees. Watch out for an associate named Sonia. If you're on vacation in NC, or want to have a pleasant day, then avoid her at the checkout counter at all costs. You will not only feel degraded, but you'll also be felt as if you're wasting her time. She's unhelpful and has a rude look she tends to give when you ask her questions. Extremely unprofessional and nauseating to be there that I made a mistake of using cash instead of a gift card because of my friend's desperate plea to get out of there asap. My trip there wasted my time, my money, and ruined my day. Suffice to say, I'm never going back there again, and would rather drive 30 extra minutes to sephora. I really can appreciate the lighting in this store. I do not have to squint to figure out what I'm looking for. I'm a NYX cosmetics fan and sometimes this store is out of my favs in this brand, but if I check back a few days later, it's back in stock. Customer service is good here too, you don't have to feel pressure to buy at this location. Most of the time I'm browsing the nail polish aisle taking care of my slight addiction in finding a new color. The store is nice and clean and it's easy to get in and out of.
