***November 2023 Update *** My last visit was nine months ago. Since then, I have done two curbside pickup orders because the items I specifically wanted were exclusively sold at Ulta. Here is what I have noticed since my last visit: Customer Service: 9/10 For curbside pickup, I have had great experiences. The ladies were very friendly and brought my items out to me rather quickly. I am also seeing more diverse staff working at this location, which is nice to see. Previous reviews are still subpar on customer service interactions with managers and pushy staff members. I'm hoping they continue to improve in this area. Timing is Everything: I am sure I mentioned this in my previous review, but this is a poor time of year to shop at Ulta. Not that they do not have a good selection for gifts, but the parking lot is poorly designed as is the store and you will definitely feel overwhelmed with crowds. If that is not your thing, curbside pickup is your best bet. It is also better to come to the store closer to opening when crowds are minimal. Hair today, gone tomorrow: I have not gotten any hair service done at this location, but this service is the highlight of this location. Most of the reviews for hair services are four or more stars. I love this for them and I hope they also hire more diverse staff members that do hair to increase clientele and provide more options for those that are in search for stylists. Overall: My feelings still stand on Ulta. They will be my last resort on buying items from them unless they have something I really want and it isn't sold anywhere else. The service at this store really stood out for me today. I don't remember any names except for Matt who apparently loves labubus. A manager with short hair greeted me and helped me find exactly what I needed. A lovely goth girl complimented me and helped me find another product. Then a red headed girl made some suggestions for different products and struck up a conversation about my labubu. Everyone was so fun and sweet and helpful. read more

My 20 year old daughter and walked into Ulta close to noon. The greeter asked if we were looking for anything specific. I told her the two things I needed. She said, "Well, I am sure we have all the things you need. We also have these items on sale." She did not point me in the direction to my needs, offer to walk me over, find someone to help me, nothing. Several Ulta team members walked by us but nobody offered to help. UNTIL a team member named Gabby asked is we needed help. I told her my needs and she took me to the area. Gabby answered all our questions and was helpful. There was a short wait in line to pay, less than 5 minutes. The cashier was too pushy with the Ulta credit card. No means no. She asked me more than once. After my first no she told me how much I would save on the purchase. After my 2nd no she said I would have to decline the credit card offer on the keypad. Please, I am not interested. I was recently at this location looking to replace my pressed powder. Camille came to my rescue and helped me color match which is something I find very difficult to do; thank you, Camille! I like Ulta because they carry both lower end products and higher end products and everything in between. At the register I was told there was a coupon online that I could use to get 15% off my purchase, so that was an added bonus. I also like that Ulta is located in a shopping center where there are many other stores at which I like to shop, including Marshall's/Home Goods and Off Broadway shoes. read more

I do really love Ulta in general. This location has a bit of a stranger vibe than others. It's not as neatly organized and the employees tend to hover. At times I rush out of the store just to be left alone. I appreciate being asked if I need assistance but it happens too often and "Are you still doing okay" as an inquiry from someone I have just encountered is insincere. Retail is hard, and I appreciate their work but I would love to be ignored just a little bit while shopping:) read more

Upping my rating because the staff here is just fantastic. So helpful and friendly, but not in-your-face and annoying haha! I wish I'd gotten the name of the sweet young man who helped me recently. He recommended a Laura Mercier hydrating primer to me that I just love and now can't believe I ever lived without! I've noticed lately that all Ulta locations have better than ever before customer service. Whoever is doing training is great. And I really appreciate how careful and cautious they all are during Covid- all staff in masks or face shields, no sampling of products, and sanitizing stations all over the store. read more

I went in here to get a single item and waited for about 5 minutes to see if anyone would come and at least check on me. eventually I saw a shorter lady who worked there and I said excuse me 3 or 4 times while getting side eyed the entire time. She even went as far as speeding up and walking away. I went back to the men's fragrance and stood for another 5 minutes while making eye contact with multiple employees before I walked out. This establishment is by far the worst I have personally experienced sexism. If you are a guy wanting to buy a fragrance then I recommend buying it online and not coming to this store. I waited ten minutes for someone to actually come check me out. During this time I made eye contact with a girl at the front. She looked at me with annoyance and watched me stand there till she seemed to realize I wasn't going to leave as I turned about to go seek someone to check me out. After finally leisurely making her way to the counter she proceeded to act as if it were the worst inconvenience ever going through the steps to check me out. She acted like I wasn't worth her time and was EXTREMELY rude. Hands down the worst attitude I've ever witnessed from anyone in the service industry. Both to me, and all the other customers I witnessed interact with her. Multiple people came up to ask her questions regarding a sale going on and not one response was she curteous in. She straight up looked at one girl in annoyance and ignored her when she came up and turned her back to look at her phone. To be quite frank she was a b*tch, and not in the good way. She was borderline hostile. I did not feel welcome or comfortable in my experience in the store, and will not likely be coming back at least to this location. I didn't see her name tag, but she was a dark blonde with highlights and her hair pulled up in a ponytail. She looked like might be in high school. I don't think that excuses her behavior in any way though considering I have a sister about the age she looked and she's handled situations with some pretty awful people coming at her in her work environment and still handled them more curteously and professionally than this girl with some of the sweetest looking and most polite people I saw her interact with- like the girl she straight up ignored. I'm so tired of going to this store and being asked several times about needing a zip code, phone number and email address to make my purchase "easier". This last time was the final straw. After kindly declining that I did not need to return the item, my email was not needed. The cashier informed me that my zip code would make my purchasing experience easier. I asked if they were unable to sell me the item without my zip code. The cashier deflected my question several times as she continued to push my information or the person I was purchasing fors information. I came in a couple days ago to grab a pickup order, and also grabbed my free diamond gift. In the past, at this location and others, I've had no problem mentioning at the register that I also have a pickup order, and they bring it to the register. The last time I had a pickup order here, the employee was so pleasant and made the experience at the register great. This time, when I mentioned I had one, the employee with long black hair and glasses (didn't catch her name) very rudely told me I had to go to pickup counter location. She goes over as do I, and I just asked why I couldn't get it at the register as I have in the past. She rudely pointed up at the pickup sign and stated "it says pickup". After, she asks if I want my items checked, I said yes, and she doesn't bother looking in the bag. As a former Ulta employee, I know this can be done and accommodated, as it makes things much more quick for customers. If there was a long line, it would have been understandable. I think the interaction could have gone way better, and the rude/monotone emotions and actions were a surprise, as most Ulta employees are very energetic, helpful, and friendly. read more

Sometimes it's all about timing - but every time I've been here everyone has been very accommodating. I just started recently frequenting the beauty salon and letting Alyssa cut my hair. So quick story and all five of these stars are for you Alyssa. I found out recently that I had to have surgery. And like anyone else I researched the condition and surgery experiences. One of the things I ran across as advice is that you should go get get your haircut prior to surgery because 1- you never know how long you might be laid up and 2- it'll just make you feel better. So I set up an Appt with Alyssa for a cut and blow out the day before surgery. (This is a pretty good $ deal here at Ulta) Alyssa always listens to what I want, gives me advice and is very patient with me when I ask her to "take off a little more" lol. Anyway, she gave me a great cut and the "bombshell" blowout. And she did a fantastic job on the blowout. Not just my opinion, but every nurse I had after my surgery commented that I looked great for having just had surgery! I am not making this up lol. AND keep in mind you have to go in with NO make up. So I'm quite sure it was ALL a result of my great bombshell blowout!! And when you feel pretty - you feel like you have more energy (and you kind of want to show it off) . Unfortunately, you know I had to wear a cap in surgery but not even that cap could ruin my blowout lol. Thx Alyssa for making me so pretty during a stressful and painful situation. My daughter even said she couldn't understand why I got all fancied up for surgery when there I was in NO make up but a great looking blow out LOL. read more

After going to another Ulta location and not being 100% satisfied, I switched to this location on a whim. The day of my appointment, the stylist that I had booked online cancelled on me, but another stylist, Erin, was available. After getting to my appointment and meeting Erin, I knew that she was going to be great and really capturing what I wanted. My first appointment with her she took what I had wanted and turned it into a beautiful balayage. Every subsequent appointment has been above and beyond too! Even when she could tell I wasn't as thrilled with the color, she fixed it to where I was. She also took the time to show me how to curl my hair with my straightener, and show me how to braid! There's way more in here than I could ever even learn to use, and the staff is always prowling around hoping to give you ideas and tips to point you in the right direction. This is a great place to get your cosmetics, toiletries, accessories, perfume and much more. I love that they have high end brands as well as bargain brands too. One of my complaints is that they don't restock as often as I'd like. They carry a lot of products, but not a quantity. I've gone in twice now in the past 10 days looking for a certain shade of makeup. The first time they don't me they'd have more in a few days. So I came back and they were still out. Plus they had no idea when they'd restock. This was a pretty common product too. If you wear clique or other high end brands, Ulta is nice because you can get what you need without going to the mall department stores. They do have a loyalty program that offers discounts, but often it's not valid on about 70% of the brands they carry so that's annoying. For me, sometimes Ulta is a nice option and I find what I need. But about 50% of the time they are out and/or over charging for the item. It's certainly worth stopping by. They also have a hair salon inside if you need a cut, style, color, etc. I've never used those services so I can't review it. read more

I stopped shopping at Ulta for a reason, and was reminded of that when I stopped in the day before Thanksgiving. After waiting in a long line (nothing concerning about that as it was a busy day and people were working to get people through), my hip injury was hurting. I should have just left when I saw the line, but I didn't. Got to the front and the employee wanted my number. I said that I didn't want to provide that and just wanted the one item. She said she couldn't make a sale without my number and so after some back and forth I finally provided my number. Of course I was no longer in the system, so she wanted my info. I told her no. I explained that I was in pain due to standing with a recovering hip injury and just wanted to make my purchase. She refused and said she had to have a phone number/account "in case I wanted to return it." I told her that I just wanted to buy my item and that if I couldn't do that without standing there to provide all my personal information to them that I would just leave. She said "fine" and then placed my item on the back counter. I tried to provide this information to corporate with the chat system and the Facebook messaging system and ironically neither of them would help me without providing my phone number and email. Never, ever again will give a dollar to such a rude company. If I am in need of an item and don't want to take advantage of your point system, that is my business. Refusing my money and not caring that I am in pain to get me to share my personal information out loud in front of your other customers standing nearby is ridiculous. read more

His demeanor changed and said "he wants to kick something when people say that." He pointed to my face and asked if I had seen anyone about my skin. I asked for it to be right at my shoulders- it's about 3 inches above!!! I asked for it to be longer in the front- it's not! It's uneven and sloppy. It looks awful! I have to schedule an appt with another salon to get it evened up and passable-looking. So disappointing. read more

Compared to Ultas cosmetic ounterpart, I feel that the prices at Ulta are great. They have an excellent selection of both drugstore and high end brands. Their associates are always very helpful and knowledgeable about the product. I love that they also have tools like hairdryers and straighteners as well, and the fact that they have displays of their tools gives you a great feel for the item before you buy it. read more

Updating my review..... If you're looking for any sort of assistance or human interaction it's better to fight the town center traffic or OP mall traffic and go to Sephora. I got here about 10 minutes after they should be open, to find myself and an employee locked out (with about 10 people waiting). A lady eventually came to let the employee in, and locked the door back. Said worker eventually came back about 5 minutes later, unlocked the door, and walked back inside. Unsure if that was our cue to go in, luckily a frustrated customer (waiting for her hair appointment) walked in before me giving us all waiting the all clear. After opening over 20 minutes late, you'd think the employees would be there waiting, or around to help the customers, but that wasn't the case, it was a ghost town. But, I knew what I wanted, so it wasn't a make or break for me. I grabbed my things, and went to stand in line, you'd think someone would be there, you know, so merchandise didn't walk off, but again. Nope! While waiting the manager came up twice without addressing the line of people waiting to checkout. 10 minutes later the SLOWEST moving lady strolled, and I mean MOZIED up to the front without any hustle- my 87 year old grandma moves, no lie. Without any greeting, and explanation, rings me up; the entire transaction she literally said zero words. I said "have a good day" as I was leaving and she rolled her eyes to me and grunted. I get it, you sell makeup, it doesn't require a lot of skills, but one. Your job is customer service, bottom line. This store needs a SERIOUS restructuring, and restaffing, it's not good, or even in the ball park of fair. Honestly, this review doesn't matter, if you're going to shop at Ulta, you're going to shop at Ulta... but do yourself a favor and avoid this location! I stopped in a few days ago to pick up a few things, and then again today and I have to say I'm beyond displeased, and today was just the final straw. I returned two high priced items that I got for my birthday, and instead of giving me a gift card, she credited it all back to the card of the person that bought it for me. Let me explain... I walked in and explained that I was given both the perfumes for my birthday, but already owned it, so I just wanted to exchange them for something else. She (still) hasn't said a single word to me, she walked over to another lady who works there and asked her to call over the manager. What a disappointment! A group of us traveled all the way from St. Louis to Olathe for the Bare Minerals event, and the store hadn't even bothered to book it! Those ladies worked so hard with their presentations, and the store that carries Bare Minerals and is supposed to be supporting and helping to sell their products couldn't even be bothered to get the word out to their own store customers! The manager wouldn't even come out of her office during the event to greet the ladies, and one of the floor assistants said she was always like that. Lazy and unfriendly, and uninvolved. Straight up scandalous that a DUDE of all things is rating this place, but if you give me a few seconds, I'll make my case. 1) My wife absolutely loves the chick that does her hair. I also love that my wife even looks hotter than she is after the salon chick is done with her hair. Gotta love that. 2) The perfumes and lotions that women buy here are absolutely insane. You just want to eat them raw right on the spot. (the women, not the lotion . . . duh) 3) There is in fact a MENS COLOGNE section for all you dude's that don't know. So if you want to go to a place to browse a huge variety of cologne, this is your spot. They also have coffee beans on demand so you can clear your nasal passages of the cologne's you smell so that you can judge the other brands carefully. That's all she wrote. read more

I can't believe I have not written about Ulta as many times as I go in there. So, one of my weakest downfalls is shopping here...but I love it. Walk through those glass door and you will find beauty galore. Walk to the right where you will find fragrances and the prestige products. To the left are what I would call drug store brands and in the center when you first walk in are products that they are promoting...the hot items in the flyer that week. The greatest thing about Ulta is the staff. I think I know almost everyone that works at this location. They are super helpful and keep me up to date on what is new in the store. Who doesn't love that? Courtney, Andrea, Sarah, Jasmine, Antonia and Hayley are gals that come to mind that will help you with your beauty needs. There are so many products in that store that everyone has a recommendation but depending on the line, they are all experts in their respective line of expertise. Just ask! That is what they are there for. You'll find a salon at this Ulta and if you are looking for a great stylist, visit Brazille. She is perfect addition to the salon staff. She is fun and super attentive. They also have an estheticians on site, Anna. If you get a chance to get one of the many services, make sure you check out the glow and go. It's a great service that involves exfoliation so your skin glows!!! It is super reasonable too. There are many beauty product stores in the area, however, I'm guessing that you will be able to find exactly what you want. They have weekly sale coupons that you can get online and print out. Buyer beware of salon services. Went recently to get a my roots done from a "senior stylist" who proceeded to stain my whole forehead, side of my face and my entire neck with dye. Was in the restroom for over an hour by myself scrubbing brown/black dye from my face and neck. The stylist never came in to offer help. I was going to walk out after I cleaned myself up but was stopped by the manager trying to peddle that this was sorta my fault for coming in and having dark hair because she's a "senior stylist".... I went into the salon yesterday to see if my hair could be fixed. I had previously gone in to a different salon and the "expert stylist" turned my hair yellow. I spoke with Jen who said she could fit me in a few hours later. I showed Jen the same photo of the color I was wanting to achieve and she had no problem lightning my hair. I am so happy with the color and cut she gave me. My husband was at work, so I had to bring my 6th month old baby with me and all the girls were so welcoming of him and didn't make me feel like he was a bother. I decided last minute that I wanted to get my hair done before I went back to college so I booked all over color with Rachel Anderson. I ended up completely changing what I wanted to do when I got to my appointment, and Rachel was very flexible and also helpful with figuring out what I wanted to do. We decided on root touch up, balayage, tint, and a cut... and she did AMAZING! I showed her a picture of what I was thinking and she replicated it. I stopped in on a snowy winter evening, and had the place almost entirely to myself (which I liked, actually). The associates were helpful without being overbearing, and when I finally did ask for their assistance, they jumped at the chance to help me. Both of the ladies made me feel welcome, and seemed to keep busy even though it was a 'dead' night. I don't expect I'll get personalized service every time I come to the store (it can't always be the day after a blizzard and -5 degrees out), but the selection and prices were good. I snagged a good makeup set for cheap in the after-holiday clearance section. This isn't another Sephora; they also carry drugstore brands. Perhaps the selections aren't as deep as Sephora's, but the store is bigger and has more to choose from. read more

My friend recommended this store to me. I was looking for a gift and she had a good idea. I like the store but I don't use much of the products they offer. They have a rewards card, but most of the product to not qualify for coupons you earn. So what's the point? They have a list up front what you can not use your rewards on. Not a good program. I am a true Clinique girl and they just put in a location inside. I love it because it's closer to my work and home, plus it beats going to the mall. What's great about the Clinique store is they don't con you or bother you to buy product because they are not on commission.
