I arrived and witnessed they were experiencing the bustle of the afternoon rush, with many patrons arriving to experience the significant sales at Ulta! Antwan was doing a great job of moving between the register and politely advising when he needed to step away to help a guest locate an item or respond to those who requested consult. Antwan maneuvered this transition so well and even managed to delegate tasks to his colleagues so effortlessly to ensure the store ran seamlessly with the heavy traffic. Even with how busy it was, Antwan remained his pleasant and professional demeanor at all times. He also presents very well maintained with his clean and attractive haircut and beard styling and tailored suit. Being the perfect demonstration to represent a beauty brand! Well done Antwan! Loved it! Really large store and I walked through every aisle. Glorious! Very well stocked. The fragrance section was really well kept because at other locations I have experienced deplorable presentation however, this section was maintained. They had my favorites from Nars, to Pattern, to Estee Lauder... spent way to much! Staff was super friendly and helped to locate the flat iron i was looking to purchase. They had a really nice salon set up although no one was being serviced or there at the time. Skin care section was my favorite and I snagged some toner and hydration cream. Going back to sephora. I feel they cater to their patrons more & are more willing than ulta to help even in scenarios where they didn't really have to! I dropped a perfume rollerball right after I purchased it & it shattered, they let me come back same day and get a replacement! I had a similar situation with a liner pencil at ulta that broke halfway at the crayon part pretty much as soon as I got all plastic off right after I bought it & ulta said they wouldn't let me replace it. I understand they weren't responsible for that happening but I literally *just* bought it. it's not like I'm scamming ulta I genuinely just don't want to have to buy another new one when I didn't get to use the first. As most of the other reviews indicate the customer service at this location definitely leaves much to be desired. Have visited this store on several occasions and if the staff is not outright rude the best you can really hope for is them to be unhelpful and unwelcoming. It is truly an uncomfortable shopping experience. I would never visit this store just to browse, only to grab something specific and leave ASAP. Note to self...Never return to this ULTA location. I had a similar experience and I ignored my gut. Everyone does not steal! Came in to sample some perfumes I had been researching. Perfect timing, no customers in the store. While I was narrowing down my decision, here comes lost prevention. No he didn't stroll by - he literally came and stood right next to me, while looking at the cell phone. If your going to watch and catch a thief, how are you going to see anything while looking, texting on your mobile device? Moral to the story, I will not shop anywhere under those conditions! There are plenty of options, especially with Sephora in the neighborhood. The ONLY reason I didn't go to Sephora is because they were closed. Guess what? I'll go earlier next time. I like Ulta because I am a product fanatic, but I only visit if I really need something or if I read some reviews about a product and the reviewers said they purchased it at Ulta. This is essentially what brought me to Ulta on this visit. I saw reviews about a new fragrance for a body scrub that I have used many times. Because I am not the biggest fan of this particular Ulta, only due to the location, I went to a location in another area. When I entered the store, I stopped at the front to determine where I was going. Since there were a few staff members at the front of the store, I decided to ask if they carried the brand. They confirmed that they discontinued the brand some time ago. I asked if that was an Ulta-wide discontinuance or just that store. She stated that she was uncertain if it was all Ulta's or just that location. She recommended that I call some other area stores prior to going to determine if they had the product. I purchased the brand at this location not too long ago, so I ventured back and they still carried the brand along with the body scrub featuring the new fragrance. I smelled the product and determined that I was not thrilled with the scent. The reviews of the scent had far more likes than dislikes, so I really hoped that I would find the scent appealing. Unfortunately, I thought it was nothing special, so I decided to purchase a scent that was tried and true. While there, they had a clearance section near the register that I had to check out. Helpful and courteous, the staff helped me as I searched for a few items. One item, a nail art kit, wasn't available at their store. A representative suggested another store (a competitor) as an option. I truly appreciated that form of customer service. I then looked around for an eyeliner that I wasn't able to find at a competitor store and there were three. Remembering the eyeliner might be discontinued, I purchased two. It's my current favorite. In a time of physical distancing, I appreciated the signage and the everyone wearing masks. I'll definitely go back if I have any other beauty needs. read more

First time visiting Ulta Beauty and my trip was pretty decent. No one from the staff greeted me when I first walked in, but the security at the door was pretty nice. I walked around for a bit and saw products from bath and body to hair care. Most of the shelves were fully stock, the perfume section, not so much. It's really difficult trying different perfumes during the pandemic however, they provided hand sanitizer so you can sanitizer in between samples. I purchased French Lilac perfume by Pacifica and some travel size face mask that was located by the checkout line and was pleased with it. Although, no one welcome me in the store, the lady who check me out was very helpful and signed me up for the Ultamate rewards program. She basically is the reason why this review received 4 stars. I love Ulta but I'll pass on this location for two main reasons: - The employees are unpleasant. I've popped in at various times and on different days and never have I encountered someone who was smiling or interested in providing assistance. I don't know what these ladies would rather be doing (I haven't encountered any male employees) but providing good customer service ain't it. - This location is especially cramped. Ulta sells A LOT of stuff but it's hard to browse the aisles here because everything is packed in so tight. It feels unorganized as a result. I went to Ulta Beauty in Arundel Mills and had the worst experience ever. The security guard stared at me the whole time I was in the store. She purposely walked over where I was shopping and just stood there looking at me shop. Than the secret shopper (I guess) came and stood behind me while I was shopping. Made me so uncomfortable. The store was very crowded but they chose me to watch. The man security guard or whomever he was was so close to me I thought we were together. Worst experience ever. Made me feel as if I were stealing. If you wanted to steal you could've because all attention was on me. The rest of the store was unsecured. This ULTA location has reps with the worst personalities. Poor customer service and security guards follow POC. They're (supposedly) stand-in beauty consultants that give little to none advice, afraid that a customer may steal their beauty or make-up secrets. How ridiculous! They're there to assist; to help if they can, with questions (mine was about applications); and somewhat educate a customer. Any conversation pertaining to products is nil, as they're intent on grabbing another customer who they think is definitely purchasing or busy chatting each other up. Even though I did buy, it was only after I was sure of what I needed or wanted. You ask them simple questions about..... let's say "a specific lipstick application", they pretend not to know what they are wearing. When I can clearly tell it's an ombré (two-toned), or specific shade of red/brand etc. I've gotten my 22 yr daughter and video tutorials to keep ahead. Another failure is they don't sell FentyBeauty products! It's slim pickings when it comes to their products, which are usually picked over. Minimal stockage when they're asked to check in the back shop. I've shopped at Sephora off and on but now I'm there exclusive. It can be crowded but you get attendants happy to assist, no security following Black women. When I do shop around elsewhere other than Sephora, it's absolutely not going to be at ULTA, and definitely not at Owings Mill location. ULTA should be ashamed of themselves. read more

I walked in hoping to get some help with coverage for my tired eyes. It has been a long week and I was feeling beat. I was greeted happily. However, that was the best thing about my visit. I walked around for 10 minutes and no one asked me if I needed help. Employees walked briskly by me without making eye contact and I then walked out while typing this review. As far as the store, the makeup samples are messy and some are missing. At this time, I assume they don't carry Fenty. But I can't be sure because no one bothered to assist me in my active pursuit up and down every aisle. The supplies were low of certain items like lipsticks in Urban Decay, for example. I'm a sephora beauty girl. I switched about a year ago to Ulta from reviews of my friends and I've only shopped in the Ulta in Owings Mills twice. My first experience was not good. Customer service was lacking from the moment I walked in. I came in to find a shade for my skin tone with acne treatment. I found someone and asked for help. They pointed me to Clinique Acne Solutions and rested the color on my wrist which matched but Sephora never did this. At Sephora the ladies or gentlemen would walk with me in natural light and apply the color to my face and neck to ensure it blended well. So I assumed the color she picked would work on my face. I went to the register and paid. The cashier signed me up for the Ulta rewards and later I've come to find out that she misspelled my name although I gave her my drivers license. The next day I applied the makeup at home before work and I could tell it was too light for my face. I went back right after work and asked for an exchange and for someone to try again to match my shade. Finally a lady took her time, put the foundation on my face and found the right shade but she didn't stop there, she did one side only with the shade I first purchased and a shade that fit and asked other consultants which shade they felt matched and they all chose the shade that she applied and not the one I bought the day before. I didn't know where to start and a nice sales rep walked me through the layout of where things were. I don't think I spent enough time in there but you surely can get lost in all things beauty. I visited the Owings Mills location today and I must say I was disappointed with the customer service. I can honestly say this is the worst Ulta I've ever been to. We received a warm greeting when we entered, immediately we noticed the warm temperature in the store. I walked around the store looking for my moisturizer, the store associates were conversing amongst each other, no one asked if I needed assistance. Honestly, I'm not surprised because this has happened multiple times at this location. I went to go check out and there was about a 5-7 minute wait but this is typical at this location. Mind you there are three people behind the register and other employees walking around and not helping. When we finally get to the register the young lady didn't mention anything about us waiting. She immediately asked for my telephone number. Please get this location together, the Foundry Row location is giving Ulta a bad name. Do better! read more

I came in to Ulta to grab me a new look for the wedding I was attending the same day. I thought I just get a new lip color, oil controller, and perhaps some blush. Well, Jillian started by hooking up my brows and then put this fabulous color from Antastia Beverly Hills on my lips . She filled them in and they looked amazing!! She then passed me off to Alexis who added another lip color to give a sort of ombré look. Alexis took a step further by recommending the perfect cheek, eye color and concealer. These ladies are really experts in their craft and you can tell they really enjoy doing what they do. I also appreciate that they knew how to work with chocolate skin. They made my melanin pop. They also informed me they do cosmetic classes so I'll be able to further my knowledge. I also didn't know they had a salon in the store. Get your hair done and a facial. Win win I'll definitely be back for my cosmetic needs and the great customer service read more

This is by far the worst Ulta I have ever been in. Firstly, no one greeted me or asked if I needed help. Ulta stores are usually great about having employees assist customers--that is why I am loyal to Ulta. I saw none of that customer service here. When I finally got tired of trying to find someone, I asked a busy associative if he could have someone else help me (since he was busy with another customer), and he said "one sec" and then never called anyone over or helped me himself. I was there for over 35 minutes and no one asked if I needed help. Then, the checkout line was very long with only one sales associate at the counter. They were out of the free gift I was supposed to get with my purchase, and didn't offer to replace that gift with another free gift like they normally do in that situation. Very disappointing experience with a franchise that normally has great customer service. Also, they did not have many of the brands I have seen at other ulta locations (skyn, mac, etc). read more

I was looking to do a bit of shopping and there was no one on the floor to help assist to try find anything. Ok np, I go to the line and asked for specific product and just felt like the energy of the manager who was directing me was negative. Then I had a concern about a product that rang up as $44 that should've been on sale for $30. When the manager was asked if it was on sale she immediately said NO! Vs. saying let me check ! So then I had to pull up the sale just for her to fix it. On top of that I spent over $300 and have spent less than that and normally get free gifts or something and she gave nothing...All she did was put my bag on the table ! I came to this specific Ulta for 2 reasons. First being it's close to home and second because the app advised that they had all of the items I was looking for. I came into Ulta which seemed to be significantly less crowded and busy and I see why. After looking for 4 specific items on my own with only success with finding one of the items I then asked the cashier for some help. She advised me that she can not leave her post to walk over to the NYX area which is directly next to the corner. I politely asked her if someone could then assist me on the back row with all the Ulta items. She contacted someone on the mic and I waited patiently for 15 mins for someone to assist me. NOBODY came! I actually had more than enough time to organize their eyebrow section which was in such a disarray! I was beyond pissed. I don't know if they were low staff or if everyone decided to take a break at that particular time but I was not happy with this service at all. I ended up leaving the store not purchasing anything. I will visit another Ulta on another day but I will not be back at this Ulta and that's for sure! read more
