I have been to this location a few times in the last year and it has progressively gotten worse. I was out of the country for my birthday and missed my birthday gift. I had gone to Sephora and they happily honored giving me a birthday gift so I took a shot to ask here at ulta. I approached the girl at the counter who did not greet me, so instead I greeted her. I asked her and instantly she said no. I thanked her and walked away. I walked around and was honestly a bit grossed out. The shelves were bare, the samples were used and it was just an overall strange vibe. One of the employees asked if I needed help, twice. Finally I said sure can you help me find a red eyeshadow? She essentially told me the clean girl look is in and I wasnt going to find red eyeshadow. I will stick with Sephora. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Do not go to Desiree. I went to get my haircut at their salon. I showed a picture of what I wanted. The stylist started cutting my hair and did not confirm how much I wanted to be cut before she chopped at it. When she showed me in the mirror it was 4 inches shorter of what I had asked for and I broke out into tears. I thought I was gonna have a heart attack. The manager came and apologized but it was very traumatic. This woman does not need to be cutting peoples hair. I know it will grow back, but it was not acceptable and the manager agreed. Worse haircut I've ever had. I could have done it myself and it would look better than what the hairstylist gave me. I gave two stars since the hair stylist is actually really sweet. I actually want to give 1 star, since my hair is so uneven. Especially when I tie it in a ponytail. I asked for layers in the front. But does not look like I have any layers. I pointed how much to cut my hair. The stylist ended up cutting more than what I asked for. I didn't complain at the time. Since I was embarrassed and felt to uncomfortable to say anything. Today I came in to get colored matched. Everytime I come in I always get colored matched the wrong color powder foundation. I gave it one last shot to see if someone could help me. Aaliyah helped me and when I say this girl knows what she is talking about, she knows what she is talking about! She told me all the things I needed to changed in my skincare routine to help my foundation set better, found the perfect color match and even told me why I needed a non matte foundation. When I checked out the clerk wouldn't honor my coupon. They said since I used my gift card first and payment was applied the coupon couldn't be applied anymore to the remaining total. My phone was open to the coupon while I was being checked out right in front of the clerk. If coupons have to be applied first why aren't we asked if we have any? Or make it known to customers that needs to be applied first. The coupon was to take money off the purchase not a percentage. They didn't offer to do anything to fix it, just said sorry. I love this Ulta. I have yet to have an item not available or in stock. Staff is super friendly and the location is very organized and cleaned. I did have a little mishap when I was there last time. They had an event of some sort going on. Sign up for a credit card and get a full size mascara. I wasn't aware of it. I went in made a purchase. I am a diamond member and noticed she put a mascara in my bag. I wasn't aware why at the time but assumed it was a little surprise for being a diamond member. So as I was leaving I asked one of the girls at the front what event was going on. When the area supervisor I didn't see her name only that it said supervisor walks up and asks to take over. She looks over my receipt and has me follow her back to the register. She explains to me what the mascara was for and removes it from my bag and saids she needs to redo my receipt as I shouldn't have gotten in. Which is fine I wasn't mad it was an accident on the cashier. But felt a little embarrassed as a customer and one that spends a lot in Ulta to go through the hassle. I felt maybe it should have been handled differently. read more

I'll give two stars because not everytime I've been here it's been bad. But I just left was in the store about 15 mins not one person asked if I needed help, even though several customers around me were asked if they needed help or at least got a hello. You could clearly see me trying foundations on my hand and neck trying to decide which color and coverage was best. After not getting help or even being acknowledged I just said to myself why didn't I just go to Sephora where they are always friendly and willing to help. I made a hair appointment at this location, about a week before the date. I received texts reminding me of my appointment. So I show up for my appointment and Ulta was closed, obviously I was confused as I made my appointment for 10:30 and now this locations says it's not open until 11:00?! So I checked my phone and saw that they sent me a message at 9:40 canceling my appointment. They cancelled my appointment 50 minutes before the scheduled time! I hadn't seen it. Horrible experience, after waiting about week to come in and I wanted done for that weekend, they pulled this crap on me. I do not recommend this location. read more

A lot to unpack here- I hate to be negative and I tried to wait long and hard before posting but I'm truly just hoping no one else goes through with this. I've thought long and hard and waited to get my hair dyed. I book an appt at this salon and show the stylist 3 pictures that I like and explain that if my end goal is too light i understand but I want to be lighter than I currently am. She makes a fuss about having to color correct my hair and I should've just let the appt end there but I was so excited... Color correction comes and I STILL have a ring of darker hair than the rest but she proceeds due to lack of time before next client. I left with hair darker than I originally had and still these ugly black bands of hair mixed in... and I get told as i'm leaving "oh just wait until you go outside! when the sun shines on it it'll be the color you want" that doesn't help me when it's not the color I want all the time. $280 later and I left with almost my natural hair color and still discolored bands in my hair. So upsetting to throw away my hard earned money and leave that heartbroken over my hair. would've saved my $300 and stayed my natural color for all that. read more

I'm heartsick over a recent haircut I received at this salon. First I'd like to say I had to wait 15 minutes past my appointment time. Second I specifically told stylist not to cut the length of my bangs! She immediately turned me around from mirror so that I could not see what she was doing. When she was done and turned me around I was shocked how the top of my hair looked! I mentioned I wanted the sides to sweep back, she again turned me away from the mirror. When she turned me back around I was mortified, she cut my bangs instead of the side like I asked. I just wanted out of there. I paid the highest price for a horrible haircut! When I got home the right side was 1/2 to 3/4 inches longer than the left. The left looked completely chopped! I worked days on different styles to get it to look half way decent, but to no avail. I ended up taking the scissors to it myself to try to even it out. I'm mostly upset over my bangs being cut when I specifically asked her not to. I've been a client to Ulta salons throughout the east valley for over 25 years and this is the second time I've received a horrible haircut! I will look elsewhere in the future. I am thoroughly happy beyond belief. Left CA 9 years ago n I'm still in search for a colorist who has experience n knows how to apply color n then blow it dry like an experienced stylist. Well out of the blue thought I'd try Ulta with all their beauty products n I landed with an exceptional colorist. Ezri is amazing in every way. She is a Redken Color Specialist and I can tell. She knows color her product n her technique in application all were incredible. Maybe I have finally found my go-to here in AZ in between CA appts. I love the Ulta Salon. It's clean bright cheery. I was welcomed offered water n taken right at appt. time. I'm sold. The store is equally nice with a very friendly team of sales personnel. What a goldmine!! read more

This is truly a girly girl establishment. My daughter in law and granddaughter love this place. I do too, but for different reasons. I have purchased a number of shampoos and mascaras here. But Sunday I was there because my DIL and GD were shopping. I was sitting and waiting near the Clinique demo area. I had burned my arm on my waffle maker while pulling the plug. While walking in from the parking lot, the sun had started the burn hurting again and it had gotten all red around the edges. One of the clinicians walked over and asked if I need help. When she saw the burn, she asked what happened and then went to their first aid kit and got me some burn ointment. It felt amazing! Thank you to her! I'm sorry I didn't get her name. It hadn't been cleaned in awhile. They don't have the brow bar that I'm used to at other Ultas, for the price we pay I was not impressed. Worst ULTA store in the East Valley area. Customer service has declined over the past few years of my personal experience with Queen Creek ULTA. CHECK YOUR PURCHASES AS THEY RING THEM UP. Negative Note: While at the register, finalizing my purchase, I can hear my cashier, Rebecca (based on my receipt), speaking on the phone to another employee about exceeding their sales goal. While scanning my products for purchase, she scans an item that I did not select. Ofcourse, I inquire about the small item that she placed in my bag after I see she has scanned it and 1 cent charge appears on the screen. She explains that its FREE SAMPLE of body butter from a local Scottsdale company. I asked "If it is FREE, then why do I have a small charge for something that I didn't even want?" She responded , " Some free samples come up at 0 cents, others as 1 cent". She never asked me if I wanted this product. When I explained to her that this is not good customer service, her response was , "You're fine". Makes no sense to spend 1 cent for a product you can't use. The penny wasn't the issue; its the tactic used (doesn't seem legal .) Bad service to assume a customer wants something; very unprofessional and sneaky.... Positive Note: There are always plenty of employees in the store when I visit, but rarely do I get help. Generally, no courtesy or professionalism. I scheduled a 20 minute facial just to try out their salon service for the first time. When I arrived, they were running behind, NBD. This isn't my first facial, but I thought it would be nice to get a quick cleansing and mask in. I sat down with the aesthetician (Anna) and we chatted about my skin. I mentioned that I had sensitive skin sometimes and told her about my problem areas. She asked me if I was okay with extractions and I said yes. She then read off a step by step list about what she was going to do, as if she was following a recipe. About half way through, she applies product and I tell her it burns. She says oh that's weird and I ask her to get it off. She very slowly takes it off and at this point I'm crying because it burns so bad. She says "oh, looks like you have sensitive skin, good to know". She then proceeds to do the extraction WITH HER BARE HANDS. GROSS. I walked out with my face a bloody, burnt, and blotchy mess. I didn't complain at that moment because I was rushing to get home and Ice my face. I called today and was told they are not allowed to use any extracting tools and that using hands was normal. I got very little sympathy from the store, but I think I may show up tomorrow to see if they can give me anything for the burns. It's now the day before Christmas and my face is the consistency of leather. Even water on my face burns. I will not be back for another salon service. I understand that you get what you pay for, but this was truly awful. read more

She gave me a phone number to call customer service which I was fine with. and I asked how is it that I wasn't opted in if I get emails from Ulta often and the amount of attitude that this girl gave me was unnecessary. She said "I just opted you in on the emails and you have to call this number" . Again I was fine with calling, but what I wasn't okay with was the amount of attitude she had for no reason. The reason I'm still giving this location four stars is because I talked to the manager about this cashier and right away she spoke to her and handled the situation. This manager is proactive and shows she takes customer feedback seriously. Thank you to this manager for her help. read more

I made an appointment to get my hair colored and cut. I had my appointment and showed up 10 minutes early to find out that the first person I had an appointment with was sick and wasn't coming in. The front desk person said they tried to call but couldn't get a hold of me. I told them I never received a call and had them repeat the number they called (which was correct). Another stylist over heard the conversation and offered to take me (I just brushed it off) and thanked her so much. I decided to continue to go to that stylist from then on. 5 months later I made an appointment to get a facial done after my hair appointment. I finished 30 mins early so decided to grab a Starbucks and then come back. While I was paying for my hair, my stylist ran over and told me she was so happy to catch me because the person that I was scheduled to do my facial with just called in sick and needed to cancel my appointment with her (30 mins before my appointment she calls in sick). I was so irritated! Almost a week later that person who called in sick called me to reschedule my appointment and acted like it was no big deal. Then a day before my appointment I get a call from another stylist letting me know that my stylist that I normally saw isn't there anymore but she was willing to take me on. I was so irritated that once again I was given crappy service, I canceled my appointment and will look for a new place! I don't recommend this salon at all!!!!! read more

It's always hard finding somewhere new to trust with your hair, but Bailey did an amazing job! I have really fine hair and I usually walk out of a salon liking my hair but not really loving it. It never seems to be what I had in mind. Not this time! The salon is located in the back of the store in a shopping center that is conveniently located. Upon arrival, I was offered bottled water before being seated. Also, while you're waiting for your hair to set or whatever, you're free to wander around the store and look around. I also love that you can make online appointments that allow you to choose what services you want and they quote a price as well. ULTA is a good store with good products. THIS location is the worst. The girls are all bimbos with absolutely no concept of professional demeanor on the phone and in person. Their tone is dull, they say "yah and uh huh" like high school kids. They know nothing about nothing. Cannot answer any questions or even offer to find out SOME kind of answer. In person, the girls are either snotty or just dumb. Hello??? *knocks on their heads* is there anyone in there??? It's pretty clear that management needs to fill payroll spots and ULTA is a good company to work for considering it's retail. However, with so many people out of work in today's economy, surely there are better quality people to treat their customers like WOMEN and not like one of their gum chewing, hair twirling classmates. Perhaps this is a reflection on management's inability to properly train their employees in customer service professionalism, or perhaps it's the employees themselves. Either way, I'll continue to take my money to further locations just so I can be treated better. If I'm paying 300 dollars a month on skin and hair care products, I would expect quality service. I also warn people to not shop at that location. I gave one star for the ULTA brand and one star for decent in-person management. read more

Sadly my blissful bubble of ulta being my Mac alternative ended when I didn't receive the level of care any hard working woman should expect. As a devout MAC wearer Rather than directing me to their MAC station I was given bare minerals as an alternative then given a Kleenex with no response only that they don't have your color. Once I stumbled on the MAC station I was ignored by the lady in the white coat even after she stood there helping another woman. I felt invisible! Thankfully my mom got the level of care any woman deserves by a lady with braids who helped her find natural hair products. Sadly I walked out feeling embarrassed and not built up. Word of caution I'll stick to my Dillards and stay with my regular location in San Tan. She had me stand while she butchered it all the while talking to another girl in a pink dress with blonde hair. When I sat in the chair she started talking about inches and how all inches are the same (?) I should've known then that something wasn't right. All the while chatting with this other girl. My beautiful hair is GONE and looks NOTHING like the picture I tried to show her. I will NEVER go to that salon again and NEVER recommend it to anyone. I went in today for lipsticks and lip liner that was all, I knew the colors I needed because I owned them already just ran out of them. When I got to the cash register I was asked for a phone number I told the lady I didn't know my phone number but had my rewards ID you scan at the register. I was told you have to have a phone number I told the lady again i didn't know my number. I asked can't you just scan the ID on my phone and she wouldn't. She said if i wanted to return anything I would have to have a phone number. I told her that I wouldn't be returning anything but she still proceeded to ask for my number again! I don't know which number it's under because I've changed my phone number several times since I got the reward card. When I was in over Christmas they had no problem scanning my ID on my phone not sure why it was a problem today. This isn't the first time it's happened at this location guess I'll just shop online or drive the distance to another location. read more
