Horrible experience at Ulta. Purchased a make-up set called mini brands by Ulta for my daughter's birthday. Turns out there's no makeup at all in the makeup kit. It's an assortment of cheap plastic useless toys! No indication on packaging at all that product is actually a cheap happy meal toy. Biggest problem is that the store refused to return the product against their brand policy of 100% satisfaction guarantee, not to mention their horrible and rude demeanor upon my daughter's attempt to return and merely attain a store credit. The one is for my unfortunate return experience with the selling manager Chelsea. I however want to acknowledge the professionalism of the store manager, Carrie, and the beautiful associate who processed my return. Carrie listened attentively, took my concerns seriously, and handled the situation with care, accountability, and respect. That level of leadership made a real difference and is appreciated. That said, I did experience an interaction with Chelsea, the selling manager, during a return that was very uncomfortable, off putting and inappropriate in tone. As a long-time Diamond/Platinum member, I expect returns to be handled without commentary, judgment, or assumptions. Returns are policy-based, and customers should never be made to feel questioned or shamed for using a service the store offers. I'm grateful the issue was addressed promptly and professionally by management. My hope is that this feedback helps reinforce consistent, respectful customer interactions across the board, so situations like this do not occur again. Carrie thank you again. I'm not a makeup person. To be honest, my daily routine consists of moisturizers and lipgloss. That's it for the last 15 years or so. But I find myself at this Ulta location (and others) often. Reason? I have a 14 year old daughter who loves this place, and now a 11 year old who loves coming here too. The store is very clean and organized. The employees are plentiful and willing to help. In fact, sometimes you will get 6 employees asking you if you need help while there. Maybe it's a little too much, but at least they aren't short staffed like a lot of places still. The prices are good, and they are consistently running some sale or promotion. The best thing is their rewards program. They are constantly sending coupons to my email. In the last week alone, between my daughter and I, we had 4 coupons to use. One was $3.50 off $15, another was $5 off $10 and 2 coupons for $5 off $20. We used the first 2 coupon and bought $25 worth of products for only $16 and change. Definitely sign up for the rewards program, it worth it. The best thing about Ulta, is that you can try everything before you buy it. They have samples out and disposable applicators for you to try the products before you purchase it. Another great thing, their return policy. Simply keep your receipt. If you're not pleased with a product, after you get it home, return it for your money back. I love a good guarantee like that. The 2 Ulta stores I have been into both get 4 stars from me. Ive even gotten my oldest daughter's second piercing at an Ulta store. Very clean and hygienic procedure and a great price. I come to this store frequently and am a loyal customer, I've never had a problem until today, my mom and I came in during the sale to get a skincare serum that we always use, we came in at 5:56 and we weren't aware they closed at 6:00 until a worker told which wasn't a big deal because we knew what we wanted, not even two minutes later we were looking for an expiration date to see if we should get 3 or 4 serums, as we were looking and talking a different lady who works there came up to us, talking RIGHT over us saying "LADIES!! WE CLOSE IN TWO MINUTES YOU NEED TO GET TO THE REGISTER!!!!!" We just looked at her because we couldn't believe she just yelled right over our conversation. Not sure if it is this location or just Ulta beauty in general. I purchased an item online for curbside pick up and I wanted to return the item a week later. They were unable to pull the item up using my email address and phone number. Not sure how that is possible when I ordered it on their website and used curbside pick up. You would think they would have a record of it. They charged my credit card but didn't give me the receipt. They could not use my credit card to pull the charge. So instead they said they could only return my item for 20% off the price and in-store credit but I paid full price for it and showed on my credit card what I paid. You would never have this problem at Sephora. I highly recommend you go to Sephora before coming here. There is a Sephora across the street at Lakeside Mall and another one at partridge creek. read more

I do have to admit that I do not buy makeup often at all, and I hardly wear any unless it is a special event (if even that). However, the store also sells other products aside from just makeup. I love the look through their skincare products, lotions, and bath items. One thing that kept me from giving this place 5 stars was because they had 3 girls behind the cashier counter and no customers in line. Again, I really do not know much about makeup but I wanted to get a concealer. There was no one in the makeup area near the cashier counter to assist customers. I had to walk up to them, and they were having a personal conversation. They ignored me for about 1 minute and finally one of them asked if I needed assistance. I told her that I was having difficulty finding a lighter shade of concealer in a brand my sister suggested. She automatically said "oh we are all out and there is nothing in the back so." I am not quite sure how she automatically knew what shade I was because there were a few lighter shades left in other colors. I just did not know how to color match to my skin. I did explain to her that there was a few shades left and she just said that if I wanted that shade I can get it then. I suppose I can be quite an awkward shopper, but I was hoping since they had experience with makeup they could help show me which one fit my skin. I was interested in buying a few other things, but I felt a bit uncomfortable to ask for help again. I am just hoping that if I go in again, they do not just have cashiers standing behind there and unwilling to help. I do want to add that two of my sister's worked at Ulta's in the past. One worked cashier a lot and she had to be on the floor helping and stocking as well when there were no customers. This is why I was a little shocked that this location did not do that. read more

Surprised to see all the reviews about what great service and how friendly they all were. I used to go to this ULTA to get my brows done and loved Samira, I might have spelled her name incorrectly for which I apologize. However, I moved out of MI a few years ago. Where I live now I only have one ULTA close by and was back visiting family so I was ULTA hopping and this location was the least helpful or friendly of the bunch. When I say least, I do mean not at all. I was not greeted upon entering the store. Actually I was not greeted at anytime I was in this location. I wasn't asked if I needed help or not. I was in the store for approximately 30 minutes before i decided that i could just go somewhere else if this is how its going to be. I was not once talked to by anyone that worked there for any reason for the entirety of my time browsing. So for those that said they are so friendly and helpful. The staff typically does a good job with color. Unfortunately the dye didn't cover my grays like it has in the last. I've never woke up the next morning with residual grays. Looking at my bill I thought I was overcharged. Nope, to trim an inch off...$55. Looks like I'll be trimming my own damn hair for a while. Taking my business elsewhere. I like the Ulta's are stand alone stores, where I can get in and out quickly...although that never happens because I roam around inside for at least 30 minutes. There was apparently a lice outbreak at my daughter's school, and my wife went into full-blown "burn the house to the ground to make sure nothing's here" paranoia mode. After consulting with friends, she sent me here with a list of things to pick up, since apparently Ulta has a selection of products specifically geared toward that purpose. They had everything in stock that she was looking for, and the women that worked there were extremely helpful to a fish out of water like me that walked in with what I'm sure was an overwhelmed look on my face. The selection here is good but half the drugstore makeup items look as though someone has used them which is frustrating because then I can't buy it (I realize that ulta cant help this but I wonder why this store seems to have a bigger issue with that then the other ultas I've gone to). One of my biggest complaints however is that its so hard to find an associate to help you sometimes!! I have walked out and left before because I looked all over the store for something and was frustrated that I couldn't find one available employee to help me. The positives of this location are that the employees are generally really nice and the lines here don't take too long because all the employees are at the cash register. Overall, this ulta does the job when you know what you want and you can buy your stuff and go! So I love ulta who doesn't but I went in today to buy my Urban Decay Smokey palette with excitement I get a 4 sampler lip revolution as gift. Well it's wrong I asked if they ran out clerk said no. I get in car to look it's literally like the size of the top of my pencil and it's only 3 colors not 4. I can deal with ample size but one color short. I have been to several Ulta's in other states and cities....but this location is not very good. The employees are nice, if you can find one. Every time I have gone to this location, the store is extremely understaffed. The store is a mess too. There is stock all over and the displays are very messy and many prices are missing... well not enough people to help out I guess. Only one cashier last time I was in, who nicely and repeatedly asked for help into her microphone and no one responded or came to open another register. We were all in line for a long time, at least half an hour. The cashier was very apologetic to everyone, wasn't her fault the store is not properly staffed, poor thing. Wasn't just one bad day there, I walked out and left all my un-purchased items the last time I was there, because the line was too long and one cashier. read more

This Ulta is hit or miss. If you come the day after something is on sale, they are out. If for some reason you want the Ulta brand ( I dont recommend btw) you will never find it. They keep their own product a mess. I don't have problem finding what I need because this is my local closest store. Had a not been to this local, I wouldn't know where to find anything. They are often out of popular perfumes too which is crazy. I think their purchasing agent needs to pay closer attention to what to stock. Their products that drug stores or Target carries are more expensive. To me its convenient to get them here with my major brands so if I need something I get it here anyways to earn ulta rewards. On the good side they have coupons always and when the large bottles of Redken shampoo/conditioner go on sale they do put them right by the door and have tons of stock. I had my hair done at the Warren location, it was God awful. I came to this location and had Courtney fix it. Courtney is literally a hair God! She gave me the most beautiful, natural, blonde highlights/lowlights/toner. She finished with a beautiful style. Let me tell you, I came in with a disaster on my head. It was brassy, uneven, and a mess. She had to do a color correction to fix the mess the other stylist made. She listened. She consulted and explained everything, step by step. She took her time. She knew just what to do. She's very professional and educated. She's a total sweetheart too. My hair looks beautiful. It feels much softer. I am very happy! read more

I have been going to the Ulta salon (multiple locations) for over 5 years and I have never missed an appointment. Today I had an appointment that I had completely forgot about - WHICH IS 100% MY FAULT. I usually receive both a confirmation call and a text message; which usually reminds me, but this time I received neither (again, still my fault). However, when I called to apologize, the person on the phone completely shamed me and treated me like I was a total POS, and acted like I was lying about not receiving a text from them. If I were someone who often missed or cancelled appointments this treatment would make sense - but I am not. Because of this, I will not be coming back. read more

I moved into the metro Detroit area in August of '14. I was really upset to leave my previous Ulta, because I always got such great service and I doubted that it could get any better. I was pleasantly surprised! The entire staff here is fantastic and they are my one-stop-shop for hair, makeup, brows- everything. If I have a question, it is answered promptly and no one ever crowds me or tries to goad me into buying things. Being in sales myself, I greatly appreciate this. They generally have everything I need, though I naturally do not go after a large sale or anything of that nature because it's like going to Toy's R Us on Christmas Eve and expecting them to have the hottest toy of the year. Use some common sense. I shop the Prestige side, so I cannot speak for the Ulta or drugstore side, but I've always found them to be well-stocked and tidy. I've never had a hard time finding anything and if I ever did, there is always someone on hand to help me out. When it comes to the makeup side of things, I specifically love their Lancôme pro, Jodi. She always gives me great advice and she's generally just fun to be around. Her makeup game is obviously on point. Everyone at the brow bar is awesome. I do not have a favorite because they are all so great. Michelle, the manager of the salon, is also AMAZING. Took me from basically black-brown to this gorgeous golden blonde without ruining my hair. That and people who don't know me think its natural. She also gives me great hair advice and is just great at her craft. As long as I'm in the area, she is who I'm going to for my hair. Garbage staff and location. Who runs this store??? They need to get fired and hire someone more reputable for this type of business. There is no staff knowledge and the woman answering the phone left me on hold for 14mins and didn't even put my products on the side like she said she would. I drove all that way to this location and the same woman i spoke to over the phone said I never asked her to place anything on hold. YEAH OK I just hung up with you after being on hold fir forever and you agreed to place 3 bottles of product on hold at register. I told her i was going out of my way to drive out there.
