Pretty appalled at my experience in this store. I was just at another Ulta with my sister and she got samples of MAC foundation in about 4 different shades. I came in looking for foundation for myself and needed some samples to match my skin tone and the representative told me they don't and never have given out MAC samples! I was also looking for hair product and Urban Decay product I was ready to purchase but I would rather go back to the store where my sister shopped to spend my money! A year ago I had major health issues and was in intensive care for over a week and in the hospital for two months, after which my hair was falling out, it became super thin and brittle. I made an appointment with JoAnne and we went and made a plan to bring my hair back to the nice thick hair that I had. They have a lot of merchandise!! Tons of choices and nice big store! My problem is that it feels very pressured on the sales floor particularly in the make up area. It feels like a test of will because if you inquire about any item or express interest, the salesperson is introducing all these products on you and if you allow, they are giving you a makeover with them and next thing you know the items are being handed to you to purchase! When I hand most items back at the register they are asking me "if you want to open up a credit card so you can buy them. " I would buy them today if I wanted them. But I DON'T!! I get my hair done 3x a year, trim and highlights added. I trimmed it myself on sides because last ulta person made a hot mess and was cut very uneven , 4 months ago. Lady couldn't cut 6inches off to give me a new style because sides too short, ok just trim it please. No she says just wait she says. I have an event this week and want fresh highlights. No , I cant do anything your hair it will break off. My hair is in great condition. I rarely blow-dry, hot iron, etc. I use omniplex, and high end products only once a week washings. I feel I do pretty good. Whaaaaat? I've never in 40 years had someone tell me they can't do my hair. If I could give this location 0 stars I would. The lowest I can give is 1 star and they barely deserve that. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Flew down for the holidays to visit family and booked an eyebrow wax and tweeze appointment online through the Ulta beauty website as I always do for all the different locations I've been to. I booked this appointment maybe 4 days in advance from my appointment time. I received a confirmation text the day before appointment. Great! I get to the store 10 mins before my appointment and I was told that in the system they had me down for 11am appointment time. I told them no I booked for 10:30am and then I showed them the text message confirmation I received from Ulta. The manager then told me the system booked me incorrectly and and put me under the hair salon not the brow bar. Because it's the holidays the manager told me there was nothing she could do. They were booked up and that was that. The manager said she would give me a discount on a service but there was NO SERVICE TO PROVIDE????? What good is that?? The manager then proceeded to tell me she would make the esthetician come in early on Christmas eve to do my brows but in all honesty, it's not the estheticians fault so I didn't feel right making her come to work early to wax my eyes brows on Christmas eve. I just wished they would have squeezed me in for the day that I booked. The whole situation sucked. Truly unhappy with this service and their booking system. If there are issues with the booking system it should be posted on the website!!!!! This will be the last time I ever go to this location!!!!!! AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!!! read more

It is always stressful to trust a new person to do your hair. Maria was a very aggressive person and would constantly poke and nudge you for no reason. It was really quite bizarre. Her techniques for coloring hair were very strange as well and I had several areas that suffered breakage. There were very noticeable spots that the color was very red and not blonde as it should of been. She should have never let me leave like that but was rushing and my was still wet when I left. I have found some of the best deals on hair products and beauty supplies at Ulta. I normally visit this location in Sarasota after Christmas and stock up on Redken and Paul Mitchell Shampoos and Conditioners. Sometimes I get lucky and find Buy One Get One Free deals or 50% off. The make up discounts aren't as great as the hair product discounts and Ulta seems to focus a lot on their "Ulta" brand make up line. However, Ulta does sell some of my favorite make up brands such as Bare Minerals and Smash Box, and OPI nail polish. On my last visit I accidentally left my Ulta card in my other purse and the cashier was nice enough to look up my number so I could get the points credited to my account. I haven't had to return anything yet, but I was under the impression that the return policy is that they will take back anything that you are not 100% satisfied with. read more

The Clinique staff was knowledgeable, but as with other Ultas they do not offer assistance for any other brands products (unfortunate, but completely understandable as it's not their job to do so) But the other associate was not helpful at all and actually very rude. I was asking for suggestions on products, she threw me off on the (busy) Clinique associate- who couldn't do anything about my non Clinique products. After she told me she couldn't help me, the other (non Clinique) associate just turned around and walked away with out saying a word. I've had great experiences with other ultas so went out of my way to come here, but after feeling unimportant by the staff members behavior, and not having my questions answered I put my things back and am heading to sephora instead. I made a purchase instore on 06/16/2023 for $83.89 and with the cashiers convincing I decided to apply for the ULTA credit card and put my purchase on there. I regret that day ever since, and every time I look at the product that I purchased I get a flood of negative emotions as it has been an absolute nightmare. As soon as I received my statement bill on 07/20/2023, I paid for it in full and on time through their phone system. I've never paid a bill late in my life. I thought this would be it however I notice on 07/24/2023 that they charged my account twice for the $83.89 that I paid. I try to call ULTA and have them resolve it but conveniently they have nothing to do with it, as a whole different company, Comenity Capital Bank, handles all their credit card processing. What has followed for the last 6 months are dispute after dispute and call after call. I have tried to have this resolved but they are seemingly unable to, the most time consuming and frustrating part is how there is no way for me to do this electronically or online, every document must be sent through the traditional mail. Every representative tells me something different, a different story or a different process to resolve this, none of which have any care as they seem to say or write some robotically vague response. They now tell me I owe them with months of late fees added. I have put my bank representative on a 3-way call to confirm that both payments went through and were cleared and that neither was returned, this is not enough, I have sent my transaction details and history, this is not enough, I have sent months of my bank statements, this is not enough. I am truly defeated in what to do. The only documents that they ask me which I am unable to get from my bank are an electronic transmittal inquiry form and a letter from my bank, Bank of America, saying that neither payments were returned on their letterhead. Both of which my bank does not provide. What also does not make sense is that every mailed dispute response they send me says something different. They continue to say they require more payments so they continue to send me statement bills with late fees after late fees added, they continue to send me collection calls and texts from various numbers, and I would assume more delinquent credit reporting. Throughout this time, I have had to travel back and forth to the bank on multiple occasions, spent hours on the phone, spent time and money on printing and ordering documents, express mail services, postages, driving back and forth to the post office, and have had to deal with the adverse impact on my credit due to negative reporting. I had to quit my job because I was unable to balance and handle the stress that this added while completing the last few months of my program. I read their response and at times I am unable to do anything for the rest of the day as I am truly distraught and lost as to what I can do next, especially when I receive redundant robotic and heartless messages and instructions essentially saying "well too bad, here is your new statement and if you don't pay us we will continue to add late fees and report you as delinquent" when I have tried to do and provide everything I possibly can in a transparent and timely manner. Even if I wanted to just pay again what they say, which is $150.84 at this moment (which will be increased by another $41.00 on 02/01/2024) with all the false late payment fees added, though it is wrong, in an effort to have them stop bothering me and to get rid of this issue, I have no guarantee that they will not do this same thing again. Or worse, they double charge me again on top of that. They have me trapped and unable to do either. This is ridiculous. I really do not know what to do or who I need to talk to next, if anyone has advice, please let me know. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with any company in my entire life. read more

Went to Tiffani as she is the manager, so wrongly presumed she knew what she was doing. She didn't listen to my requests nor concerns at all. I left with short layers that made no sense, when I clearly stated "long layers." My color ended up horrible and brassy. She has a major bad attitude and believes that she can do no wrong; acts like she is the queen and expert of everything. She cannot take criticism even if constructive, and when you leave spending a fortune, and almost in tears, who do you complain to when it's the manager you have a real issue with?! It's a big store and it can get frustrating trying to look for things. Last time I left after looking for false lash adhesive for about 15 minutes. I got my appt with a "master level" stylist and was getting color asking her to pull thru (not color) my existing highlights. She went on to berate my hair condition non-stop (then I saw her do the same to another client in between my service), telling me a complicated explanation for what she had to do to get it done properly. She ended up covering all my base with new red color (I wanted the red) even the base of my blond hair! Continued to Up-Sell (incl store shopping) and 4 hours later, when I can actually see the outcome, I am left with almost 2 inches of red roots over all the front, top of my head now looking to fix this and get some highlights on my roots...IDK. Never having worn much make-up at all, and having reached the age where I need to, I thought this store was great for friendly advice. I purchased a very large amount of product from this store, spent a lot of money. The employees always encouraged me to buy something to try it and emphasized the company's generous return policy. Upon trying to return a hair styling tool because it did not work, the general manager treated me as if I was a thief. She spoke loudly, condescendingly, rudely, and in a most accusatory tone. I explained the item did not work, she said, "We'll see about that" and plugged it in - after waiting several minutes, shaking the tool, checking the plug, hitting every button on the thing, she apparently realized this was actually true. No apology for the faulty product, no apology for the inconvenience, not even an acknowledgment that I was correct. She then stormed off to make a phone call and came back, threw a replacement tool on the counter and told me that was all she could do. I declined. If one tool is faulty (i.e. not working and the plug getting very hot when plugged in) then I think it is reasonable for me to a) be leery of that item, b) have reason to assume that any replacement may have come out of the same batch. This woman refused to give her full name. All she would say was that she was the General Manager. This power-drunk person treated me like a common thief in public and didn't have the gall to give me her name. I left with the broken item. Two other customers, who I did not know, left around the same time - one was waiting for me outside to tell me that she couldn't believe this woman had been so rude to me; another, who had been in line behind me, caught up with me to say that she had put her intended purchase down and would not be shopping at Ulta again if she might also be treated like that. When I contacted Ulta asking for the contact information for this woman's supervisor, I was told that the information was not shared. If Ulta executives are so afraid of their own staff's actions that they will not themselves deal with an unhappy customer, I most certainly will not be shopping there again. I did contact the manufacturer of the faulty item, they sent me a pre-paid shipping label and then contacted me when they had received it. The apologized for the problem with the product, sent me a refund, and a complimentary item that an executive personally assured me that she had tested in her own office. They were appalled at the treatment I had received at Ulta. They apologized profusely for the actions of this stupid, rude woman; it was actually two people from this essentially unrelated company, other than the fact that their products are sold at Ulta, who felt the need to offer their regrets to me. If you want to be treated like trash for returning a broken product then by all means shop at this Ulta. read more
