Jurate is an Incredibly Skilled Hair Stylist! I'm new to the area, so finding a new hairdresser definitely had me worried. I had been going to the same hairdresser for most of my life until I moved here, and I was so scared to get my hair ruined by someone I didn't know. However, multiple associates at Ulta said the Salon was wonderful. So I decided to give it a shot. Jurate was kind and booked my appointment with her for a few weeks out. I think I got really lucky that she was the one I booked with! I absolutely love how my hair came out! I think this is the best my hair has ever looked! I personally felt discriminated against and racially profiled by this store. As I was walking through the back of the isles, there was a woman peaking over the shelves keeping an eye on me and as I was started walking towards her, she turned around and walked away. Once I reached the checkout line, I had an ULTA tote bag but only needed to pay for 1 item when the cashier named Jill laughed mockingly and said "you walked all around the store with that bag and only got that?" I feel as though every customer should have an equal opportunity and respect from these employees and be given the benefit of the doubt. My hair is fine and thin. Ir was already short and I requested a good trim and shaping. A traditional pixie cut. I also wear hearing aids. Schaley just kept trimming and trimming. When finally done whacking I discovered I had not booked a blow dry and style (additional charge. The hair on the sides is about 1/4inch long, top 2-3 inches. There is nothing to style on the sides. She just combed the bit of hair on the top to one side. I could have cried. I said "what am I going to do with this?" She said something like it was a mess when you came in. Out of the shop I did cry. WORST haircut ever. Looking around at the other stylists, on that day they were all young with really long hair. Obviously, ULTA must cater to an under 30 age group. Schaley commented how she never wanted to lose her "mane?. I called the next day and Schaley was completely booked. I really wanted her to show me how to style this haircut. BEWARE!! My husband went into an Ulta store to purchase a perfume for Valentine's Day. The perfume wasn't in the store, but the employee at the register said they can order it for him online. The total was $102.72. I received an order confirmation stating the product was paid and on it's way. I received the product within a week. A few days after he made the purchase, Ulta made an unauthorized transaction for the same amount, $102.72. We didn't notice until they made another transaction for $102.72 and then another and then another. Ulta made 4 unauthorized transactions for $102.72, totaling OVER $400.00 IN UNAUTHORIZED TRANSACTIONS!! It got so bad, we had to cancel our bank card and order a completely different card. Ulta's corporate office has been completely useless. We provided them with bank statements, not once, but TWICE. We have spoken to multiple people there, including multiple supervisors. Unfortunately, we keep hearing the same lame excuses, "I'm so sorry" "give us more time" "we haven't got a response from upper management yet." Today is April 18 and we're still waiting!!! I had an appointment for a cut and colour for my very fine chin length hair. A touch up on my blonde hair with a toner of which I had the formula. I was there for 4 hours and it was a nightmare. The stylist put in so many foils it took her 90 minutes and almost all my hair was in the foils . The toner from the formula was prepared wrong and turned my hair white with a blue undertone. With the help of another stylist they managed to get a very dull light brown colour in my hair. Four hours later I left in tears. She acknowledged both putting in too many foils and mixing the wrong formula. Four hours and the worse hair colour - full price. They did offer to redo it but I'm not confident to go back. read more

I tried to work with them and say I don't need my hair blown out or dried and they said they had no time for my appointment today. I have an event on Friday that I really need my hair done for and they said the soonest they could get me in is over a week. The girl I spoke to did absolutely nothing to make it right. This ulta is super unprofessional and has terrible customer service which is super disappointing because i've heard good things about some of the stylist there. Well, I came in here to buy some travel hairspray. The one I was interested in was listed as 2 for $9. I went up to the register and they rang up at the normal price. I explained to the sales associate that they were on sale and she responded with "oh, they didn't ring up as that so they must not be on sale." The store was completely empty as they were closing in 15 minutes. To top it off, there were four other employees behind the counter doing nothing. This is the typical ULTA store so I won't waste your time telling you what you already know if you've been in one of the chains. The staff is pleasant which can't be said for all - I've been in several where the staff borders the opposite of helpful. I use the hair salon hair and am very happy with it. I find the salon staff very professional and knowledgeable. I relocated to Florida and was looking for a place to maintain my originally natural red hair. This can be a trying endeavor. I stopped in and was partnered with Ashley who is a great hairdresser, a true professional. You can get salon service at different levels (which means different pricing options). Ashley, I believe, is at the master level. She keeps my red hair looking as it did in my younger days, keeps my hair healthy, and has been a wiz are recommending products for the change from North to South on my hair. read more

My best friend and I had hair appointments the afternoon of her wedding, two blowouts- one regular and one bridal- and I was throughly disappointed in our experience. She went first, and asked for curls and two small braids on the top of her head. Our stylist, who was late, said she didn't see anything about braids in her memo and basically screamed across the salon that she doesn't do braids. Thankfully, the stylist next to us told her she does and could help her out! The stylist finished her hair and my friend was trying to explain to her that she didn't feel bridal and she wanted a few tweaks done but the stylist just kept saying she didn't understand and there was nothing she could do to fix how she was feeling. It was very disheartening to see my best friend, the bride, so upset with how she looked on her wedding day! She left in tears. Then I got my hair washed, which wasn't pleasant either in the fact that she repeatedly splashed my face with shampoo. She kept making comments about how badly I needed a haircut and how dead the ends of my hair were. She also made rude comments about my best friend and how she was too picky and didn't book the correct appointment. She did this through the entire appointment. Then she sectioned my hair off to brush and couldn't seem to properly untangle it. It got pulled a lot and she didn't leave the conditioner on for more than 30 seconds. She blew it straight, which my hair naturally is. I researched a proper blowout and found out it could be styled curly or wavy if the stylist did it correctly, but she didn't even ask what I wanted. So my already straight hair was straightened again, and she put so much finishing oil in it I had to buy a bottle of dry shampoo to salvage the look. She also ran over in both appointments so by the time I was halfway done her next appointment had arrived and she basically pushed me out of her seat as soon as she was finished. I just couldn't believe, first, how unprofessional she was, and second, how I paid $40 for something my hair already was. DO NOT BOOK SALON APPOINTMENTS HERE!! I had a family emergency and a funeral to attend and needed to get my hair colored away from my home salon. My home stylist was very sweet and sent me all the information I needed to match my usual color. I made an appointment at the Cortez Ulta location in Bradenton. The first thing they did was cancel my appointment saying that the stylist they had assigned me was "running so far behind she wouldn't be able to complete my color in time for close." They assigned me to a new stylist - Brian- two days later. When I arrived he glared at me and demanded "do you have an appointment?". when I said yes, he acted very put out and continued his back work a little longer, He had me sit in his chair and put the cape on so tight it was hurting. I asked him to loosen it and he did so reluctantly and only one snap so it was still too tight. He asked me what we were doing in a very snotty voice. I showed him the formula my stylist had sent me and he scoffed at it. Then he said - "just so you know, if I do that all over it's going to be darker. If I send one of my clients to another stylist I always tell them to do just the roots." He refused to look at the formula for more than a second and declined to borrow my phone to see it more clearly. He made me very nervous and he was so hostile I felt like I couldn't have a discussion with him. So, I checked in with my stylist over text. She clarified, and when I tried to tell him, he was so incredibly rude that I just said. I don't think I'm staying and I took my cape off. He yelled after me, "Why?!! I was just asking questions.". I didn't even look back. My own elite level stylist and former salon manager apologized for him even though she is in another state and would never have treated a client like that! Brian made a hard situation so much worse. He was so rude it seemed like a prank. Run don't walk away from this Ulta Salon location. No wonder he had a last minute appointment available. read more

Made a hair appointment because they are supposed to have excellent staff. Went in with a photo of cut I wanted. My hair was already very similar and needed to be trimmed up. Stylist said o no problem & proceeded. Turned me away from mirror and when she turned me back around my hair was CHOPPED. Not only had she chopped more than 2 inches ir was uneven ( one side longer than the other) it looked nothing like the photo I took in. I explained it was different and stylist replied ITS OK YOU HAVE A SHORTER AND MORE MODERN CUT. NOT OLD LADY CUT. I left the store in tears. Emailed ulta and this is the reply I got. " Hi xxxx, Thank you for contacting us. We hope we were able to resolve your inquiry and we'd love to hear your feedback!" I gave feedback and heard nothing. After a lot of encouragement I Went to the store with my daughter spoke to a "manager" her reply was "Oh sorry you weren't happy but she is our top stylist. Next time let her know you weren't happy. Today was my first time in this particular Ulta and the experience left me questioning whether I should continue to give them my business. I am a Diamond member and went in today to redeem my free gift before it expires. The young woman who helped me find my foundation shade was great as was the cashier, both were friendly and seemed eager to help. The cashier was having trouble getting my coupon to scan so she called over the store manager, Maureen. Maureen approached and quickly stated that the coupon wasn't taking because it was already used and that this would be the end of the coupon. I explained to her that the coupon most definitely had not been used. Maureen then proceeded to print out my receipt and write in black sharpie and tell me that the item could not be returned for cash value. I spend a ton of money at Ulta, hence the Diamond status, and do not appreciate being treated like some sort of scammer over a lousy foundation. I am a steady customer at Ulta on Cattleman Road, Sarasota, Florida. I have recently bought 3 products by IT and each item was defective. On previous occasions I had the box and receipt so there was no problem with exchanging them. My last purchase from this company was their Universal Taupe Brow pencil. I used it once and there was no more stick of color left. Since I misplaced both for the last item, I decided I would not even try to get money back and I definitely did not want a product by IT. However, I did speak to a manager simply to make her aware of this problem. I made it very clear that I was NOT asking for a refund or a credit. Her response stunned me.
