Our last visit to Ulta really opened our eyes to how sneaky this place actually is. First, while standing in line waiting to purchase our items, we noticed an employee destroying products over a cardboard box lined with plastic. She was squirting out products like liquids/gels and scratching up makeup palettes. When I asked her about it, she claimed Ulta didn't even permit employees to take home excess, and that the products included expired and returned items. This really hurt my environment-loving heart. I understand not wanting others to become infected by products used by a previous buyer, but it'd be so easy to only dispose of those, and then either put the expired or excess products on steep clearance, sell to places like TJ Maxx or resellers, donate, or simply let employees put them to good use! All the waste and refusal to even let dumpster divers benefit from Ulta's excess was painful to witness. I wasn't aware of these practices and wish these were more transparent for the prospective consumer. Then, when checking out, only AFTER we made the purchase did the employee disclose we had had $23 worth of rewards that could've been used during our $100 purchase. When we asked then and there if we could return and then re-purchase to use the points, the employee refused. She said that they'd "get in trouble" if they notified customers before they made their purchase about how many points/rewards dollars they could redeem. So corrupt. read more

Your employee Rylee is horrible! Unfriendly, rude and she actually told me and my daughter that we could not return our items if needed if we didnt give our phone number and set up an account! I cannot find anything on the Ulta website or receipt that says something so absurd. Makeup is not cheap and I dont need to shop where I'm treated badly and lied to. There are too many options to get makeup from. I'm not sure if this woman hates her job or not, it seems like it, but theres no need to takes it out on the customers. read more

I went in to be color matched for foundation and concealer. The young contractor who did that for me was lovely and helpful. We found one line and tested it (3 shades each) settled in one. She went to get it out of stock and both were out of stock. So we try another cosmetic line that was comparable - we again try 3 shades of each - settle in one. She goes to open the drawer to get them....both out of stock. It really wasn't her fault. I told her so. It's whoever is in charge of inventory. Some other girl with orange hair seemed to be In charge (she had the keys to the product drawers) and was very aloof and not apologetic at all that two lines were out of stock. This store is always clean and well set. The floor staff is friendly, and very helpful. I wish I could remember her name, but she helped me find a new setting powder, and eyebrow pencil. She knew exactly where things were in the store And super friendly. Great quality products, and reasonable prices. read more

This is my 2nd time here and once again I am leaving without buying what I planned on getting because the cashier is giving me a hard time and wouldn't let me purchase the products I had picked without giving her my info. When I shop at the Ulta in Branson and I tell them that I do not wish to provide my information, they just say ok; at this location they tell you that in that case you will not be able to return things even with a paper receipt (which is a lie, unless ulta doesn't honor what it says in the back of said receipt). Some of us just do not want to open an account or share info, why can't the Springfield ulta location get that?! So they rather let a customer leave upset and without buying hundreds worth of product. Very poor customer service. read more

Me and my daughter went shopping for moisturizers, Christmas gifts and lotions. This is the pinkest Ulta that I have ever shopped in. And one of the friendliest. I am dealing with very dry skin and asked for recommendations and one of the sales girls helped me out with product ingredients to look for. Vitamin C, if you're curious. Me and my daughter both have Ulta Rewards and there was an outdated email address on my daughter's account so she missed her birthday gift. The cashier updated the address and made sure my daughter received her gift even though it was a few months ago that she missed out. read more

I made an appointment for 1 PM but due to leaving work at 12. I rescheduled my hair appointment to 4:45. I showed up at 4:35 to check in and was told the hair dresser was finishing up and I will be paged when he's ready. I walked around for 45 minutes and looked over at the salon. They were barely cutting the customers hair. Not finishing up. What a waste of time. I got annoyed and left. read more

I went into Ulta planning on buying products. Was asked by one person if I needed help after I was in there for 1/2 hour. She was very kind and answered my question. I was there alone waiting for her or someone else to come over and help me with what I needed and other items for a very long time. I was going to buy makeup that I am ready to spend money on and purchase after the virus issue. We are all going back to some kind of normalcy and need to be in public. I am very disappointed with the service there and obviously think that you need to get it together. Not being able to try on samples that are there is ridiculous. Vi used to be a great customer. I drove an HOUR to come pick up makeup. Specifically came to Springfield because supposedly they had the foundation I needed and no other ulta/ store did. I placed my order and drove to Springfield to pick it up. Following the protocol I pulled in and parked and sat on the phone waiting for them to pick up my call for over 5 minutes. Finally, I got out of my vehicle because all of the employees but one were standing by the door watching. I walked over and confronted them asking them about it, where I was told rudely to return to my vehicle and pull up on the curb to receive my order. Upon receiving my order, my foundation I had ordered was not in there. I questioned the issue, and the lady who I spoke with in the first place leaned into the window (not doing much for social distancing if you're still doing things like that but u couldn't wait by the door for you to just hand me my product). Apparently ulta will only send you an email 20 minutes before you go to pick up your order that they don't have everything you needed, which contradicted the website. And that's AFTER you've already received a text that your order was ready to be picked up over an hour before that. I have had multiple issues with ulta in the past, ex. Selling me used already opened products, very rude customer service, but I was in a crunch and driving over an hour. This just really topped the cake and I will not be returning and giving ulta any of my money ever again. read more

I went into this store for the first time today. I was looking for a very specific foundation and facial moisturizer (I usually order online but wanted them today.) A really friendly girl helped me on the floor. I really had no problems at all until I made it to the checkout. Once at the checkout, I stated I didn't want to provide my contact information because I don't want to receive any solicitation. The girl running the register was pushy, trying to get my info after I already said I didn't want to provide it. I ended up having to say three times that I didn't want to provide contact info. While this was happening, the girl running the register next to us was staring over at me and began rolling her eyes and began laughing with her customer. I do not speak for anyone else, but behavior like this ensures I will never go back to your store. I don't know if the female employee was rolling her eyes at me, or at the other female employee helping me -- doesn't matter. What does matter is this is very poor customer service and makes a customer feel unwelcome. To those girls, I hope someday you're able to understand where I'm coming from. To the store, you've forever lost my business. read more
