I am a fan of cosmetics and Ulta beauty's I've been going to this ULTA location here in Staten Island. I came today after several months I have not been to ULTA beauty to find out all my points disappeared. I have approximately MORE than $200 worth of points that just suddenly went down to $3. Also I tried changing my password online it wouldn't let me. Just weird that it locked me out of my own account. I am positive that it was stolen at some point. I called the customer service and they said it'll take 2-3 days for them to get back to me on this. read more

Every single time I come to this location the employees aren't knowledgeable to simple product questions. Just recently I went in for the Living Proof Shampoo Triple detox after receiving a sample and it working so well with my hair type (yay Living proof). The middle aged woman on the register in the back by the salon had no clue of her products. I asked if they have a conditioner in stock for it she goes "that's for people with oily hair" condescending and arrogant didn't even ask first what my hair type was or why I was interested in the product just oddly flat out assumed I picked up the wrong item. And I responded with "yes I have an oily scalp." I had picked up the other Perfect Hair Day products as well for everyday use and I ask if I can use the triple detox every day she responds "why not" me: um I mean .... I'm inquiring information...." and she goes the other products are too oily I wouldn't recommend. They didn't have the conditioner for it and she didn't recommend a conditioner. The most awkward encounter like, be a salesperson and sell me products. I'm willing to spend +100 for hair products. I literally just spoke to Living Proof and they confirmed to pair that product with the Perfect Hair Conditioner that I put back as per her recommendation I like Ulta so this review as only for this specific location. The staff harass you for ALL your personal information. I want to buy a simple bottle of moisturizer. I have to give them my phone number, license, email address to join some points club. When I say I don't want to give that information out the get nasty. Happens every time I go there. They are RELENTLESS! If you ever wonder why you get robo calls every day it's places like these. This was my first time inside an Ulta store. It was about a 25min drive from the Verrazano Bridge. Ulta is located in the relatively new Bricktown Shopping Center, almost at the tip of Staten Island. On the highway, you'll drive by many yellow wheat fields, and the Sanitation department. I went to return some online items. The cashier was very nice and quick with the return. She combined both of the return invoices together, so that I only had to swipe my credit card once. She wasn't pushy with trying to get me to replace the items, or to take store credit. Very efficient customer service. The cashier next to her was even trying to look up a coupon code for a customer so she could save a couple of dollars. The store was brightly lit, and very organized. Items were clearly labeled. Testers were abundant. Wasn't crowded at all. read more

I don't usually come all that often to this location but I went in the other day and am very unsatisfied and disgusted to say the least. They never have products in stock even when it says they do online, especially the free gifts and they won't substitute them! A manager was very rude to me for no reason at all and kept following me around the store even after I told her I was just looking around. I was approached by another employee that kept trying to persuade and pressure me into buying extremely expensive products that I said were way out of my price range and were not what I came in looking for, to which I was told that they have numbers to reach and that it would make her look bad if I didn't purchase the products she was showing me. I was in utter disbelief and felt extremely uncomfortable. Then that same employee tried pressuring me into signing up for a store credit card even though I said countless times that I do not want it and was not interested, but she would not take no! It all felt like a sick joke and like straight up harassment. I wish I had gotten their names but did not see any of the employees wearing name tags. I most certainly will NOT be coming back to this location as I felt very uncomfortable, unwelcome, and disrespected in numerous ways in only one visit. I get my hair done here by Neyerlin and shes AMAZING. I come monthly for my glaze and touch up. Lin has helped my hair get back to a healthy state and i am so thankful. I have been coming here since September 2017 and wouldnt change stylists. The attention at the store is also really good i shop at ulta frequently so i always leave with bags in my hands. I cant wait till the other ulta stores open up so its closer to my house. read more

Michelle is wonderful! I have been going to her for about six months now and she is really working with me and my difficult skin. I had really bad cystic/hormonal acne after stopping hormonal birth control and I didn't want to use antibiotics/harsh prescriptions to fix it so I decided to focus on getting facials/peels. After a few months, I completely stopped getting large cysts and now we are working on healing the scars that remain. She has helped me find projects that actual work for me and has always made me feel comfortable. She takes her time with you, even going over the scheduled time if needed. People are telling me they notice the difference in my skin and I'm excited for us to reach my skin goals. I'll never go to anyone else except her! read more

I'm sure most people didn't know, because I sure didn't, but Ulta has full make up, hair and facial services in the back of the store. Go to Christine !! You'll literally want to be her because she's so amazing and talented. I went to get my make up done for my birthday and she honestly did it flawlessly. I've been charged double other places and hated it. She really is mindful towards your skin type and what you prefer. I loved her so much I went back two weeks later to get a facial by her and my skin has never looked better! She did a great job and recommended the best products based on how my skin reacted to her facial. She's so incredible and makes you feel comfortable asking silly questions, where other places like Sephora can be a little snotty about it. Go to her!! You won't regret I've always preferred this Ulta over the one by the mall just because it's easier in and out access but also the staff is absolutely lovely. I never have a good experience in this Ulta. I always rush to go in grab what I need ( if they have it) and walk right now. I don't even browse anymore like I use to. The employees aren't knowledgeable of their products, items are always out of stock, and they watch and follow you throughout the entire store. I understand they must get alot of shop lifters but I've been going going this ulta for over 4 years, I spend alot of money here and they 100 % know my face by now. Every aisle I go to, everytime I'm reading products I get interrupted. From the moment I walk in to check out I am being watched. You might as well hold the basket for me, no? I just left this Ulta location, and I just had the worst experience. I am a loyal customer to Ulta and have never had a bad experience. However the girl at the register was rude and condescending, definitely treatment I've never received at Ulta. I came in to exchange a damaged eye palette that I had purchased a couple of days before. I did not want the money back, I had my receipt and wanted an even exchange. The cashier gave me the third degree asking if I had purchased the item that way or did it become damaged in my possession. After explaining to her that when I went to use it I realized it was broken, she tried to tell me that I had to pay the difference for the exchange because when I made my purchase the item was on sale and now it was not. After disputing it with her, she decided to per her "do me the favor" and exchange it. Although she ultimately exchanged it the experience of it all was just terrible. I am so happy they opened up an Ulta at the mall, because I will not be going back to the store in Bricktown. read more

For someone who visited a good amount of branches from this franchise, this particular store is a disgrace. Since Staten Island is very limited on Cosmetic stores, I was very happy to see an Ulta coming to our little island. Unfortunately for a store that has been opened for a little over year, its staff and products are in terrible shape. Example: The NYX section is a disaster. No matter what time you go, at any given moment there are just hundreds of opened packages. Items are missing from the boxes and those packaging boxes just sit on the shelves. I also completely understand that some colors / shades will sell out a lot faster than others, but 40% of a display is out of stock for weeks and whatever is there has all been swatched. Example #2: If you have items on display for customers to swatch, there should be alcohol / make-up removers at the stations. A friend and I had to go from station to station looking for a tissue. Discouraged, we asked the girl be hide the register (I'll leave the name out for her sake) if she would have a napkin and we informed her that all of the stations are out... and the response we got was "Yeah, i'll get to that" with an eye roll while ringing up another customer, like what I am telling her is such a burden ... can you say rude? long story short: -The employees who work there are very uneducated in makeup / makeup products.... and rude. -The store is disaster of a mess. read more

Pretty disappointed. I had a 10:15am appointment and didn't get out until 12pm. I was getting my make up done for a wedding for which I was part of the bridal party. I thought the person doing my make up was asking me questions about my plans because she was either interested or making small talk. She was really trying to assess how much time I had to wait around so that she could take in a walk-in hair treatment. What's the point of the appointment then? Also, her station wasn't stocked and she was running all over the place looking for stuff, wasting more time. She also didn't know how to contour and when she was finished, I felt like I could have done what she did. In addition, they won't let you pay at the salon and make you wait on line in the front with all the other purchases. It was a waste of time and money. read more

Got a mini facial with Michelle (who then recommended products that showed a noticeable difference within minutes) and got my hair done by Lauren - she is beyond talented. Every time I come to this location, I do not get greeted by associates, nor does anyone ask if I need assistance. I was shopping there today and asked a Benefit associate for makeup remover and was told that there wasn't any. However, it is a MAKEUP STORE and there are testers of makeup remover everywhere!! I took it upon myself to grab a tissue and use a makeup remover tester to remove the liquid lipstick swatches on my hand. It was also impossible to find a trash bin. Upon checking out, I asked the associate at the register for a trash bin and she first suggested that I throw my tissues in the outside bin or to "walk all the way over to Benefit to throw it out". For a self-shop makeup store, it is not very customer friendly. I will no longer be shopping at this location. read more

I absolutely love this ulta store! It is set up in an organized manner and I can always find what I need. Associates are around to help, but don't tend to bother you much, which is what I prefer when browsing. They are much more professional in this store, as compared to the mall location. I always have a great experience when I go to Ulta. They r always spotless and very helpful! If one sales associate cannot help me they will keep going from one associate to another till they get my answer! If they don't sell a certain product there they will direct me to another store where I can find that product! (The Macy's, Gimbel's policy) which I always loved! This is definitely your one stop to all things beauty. Not only do they sell all makeup products, hair products/tools, nail polish, perfumes and more but they also do waxing, haircuts and blowouts and make up. The store is always clean but it seems to get overwhelming and the isles are on top of each other. The staff is sometimes clueless regarding products or skin care and there is always a huge line with one cashier. Total bummer all the time. They definitely need more staff behind the registers because this can get frustrating. They carry high-end brands and low end brands so there are items that can fit in anyone's budget. Ulta Beauty Salon is one of the most enjoyable experiences with stylist Lin. As a hair stylist myself, I find it hard to trust someone with my hair. She is the most detailed and thorough hair stylists. She cuts my hair and always does a dry cut. If you want someone to put their all into your service go to Neyerlin. I had a terrible cut almost a year ago and Lin has been getting my hair back to a healthy and beautiful cut. Someone that actually cares about the integrity of your hair. Ulta beauty salon is my go to spot for haircut and color. Neyerlin is incredibly talented. She simply gets it. I trust her and appreciate her honesty. She's a magician. Be patient and you will get exactly what you are looking for. My hair always gets compliments and is extremely healthy. Looks and feels amazing and so soft and shiny!!! The store is spacious and carries a wide variety of high end as well as drug store brands which is why I still come here...they also always have good coupons which is a plus. The downside is that the store is often is disarray...makeup and nail polishes have been opened and tested, makeup displays are a mess and they are often out of stock of the more popular brands and colors (nyx matte lipsticks for example). I will say they have improved though...about a year or so ago this was the grossest Ulta I have been into in terms of makeup displays being a disaster with makeup being opened and tested. I guess since an Ulta opened in the mall all the gross customers go there now? Who knows. On a final note the employees are present without asking you every 2 minutes if you need help which is a plus. read more

I was so surprised to see how cute the salon was, how private you feel from the rest of the store, how clean the environment was, and how friendly the staff was. Christine is a MAGICIAN. She did my makeup exactly the way I like: not caked on yet still done up, emphasizing all of my features. She is extremely friendly, down to earth, and knowledgeable. When she did my facial, she took her time, knew exactly what products to use, got my skin glowing immediately, and got me started on a regimented routine. She makes you feel comfortable throughout the entire experience. I will certainly be returning for any occasion! read more

Had my hair done by Gina and I couldn't be any happier. Usually I'll shop here for my hair and makeup, etc, but I lingered over to the salon since I haven't been happy with my hair color lately. Dyed it so many times this year and wanted to just go back to my regular color. I was nervous because of hair damage, but Gina took good care of me. Talked me through the next few steps of what to do to get back to my natural color safely...... Price was right, staff was attentive and friendly, and I was in an out in an hour. This store is absolutely the worst makeup store I have ever been in. Between myself, 2 daughters and 2 nieces I purchase a lot of makeup on a frequent basis. We are always looking for new makeup to try. I will never waste my time driving across the island to go to this store. There is never any sales help on the floor even when they are not busy. One cashier, really! I had to have my daughter hold my spot to get off line to find a manager, who was no where to be found to ask to open another register. Not supposed to happen in a good store. The place is a mess. Like some of the other reviews said, the stations for tissues and such are dirty and empty. Good thing I carry tissues. The testers are missing, broken or are empty. How are you supposed to try on a $30 lipstick if there are no samples in the slots. If upper management were any good, they would realize that getting everything well stocked is cheaper then buying an expensive lipstick only to return it because it was the wrong shade. So they get returned and thrown away. Talk about a waste of money! The staff is always, always no where to be found. I've actually seen a sales girl fixing shelves and asked for some help and she couldn't because she didn't know and left me to go find someone else. Can you imagine. They need professional makeup people working there that know what they are doing, not some young High School girl who is working there part time. I've been to the store several times so I am not doing this review on one visit. I will be go back to Sephora where they have polite professional and experience makeup artist and a great selection of makeup. A store doesn't need a lot of makeup they just need quality makeup and help. On a personal note, it's much better getting a sample made up of a perfume like Sephora does to see if you like it then buying a $80-$100 bottle only to find out you can't wear it. read more

Worst experience with this ULTA Salon - Went for Hair Updo and Makeup, the hair-updo was so-so but for the simple makeup Jennifer(makeup artist) took 2 hours to do it. After 1 hour Jennifer said that my make-up is completely done. I looked at the mirror she forgot to put Lipstick on my lips, forgot to Blush my cheeks, forgot to put Mascara, did not contour my face. I got my color done by Claudia, she is a master stilyst so her prices were a little higher than the other ones but it was worth every penny. She did an amazing job. I finally got the sandy color I wanted for my highlights. She also recommend some great products for my hair and even my face. I look like a different person. Very happy. read more

My friend and I flew in from out of town recently for our best friends wedding and got our makeup done at this Ulta location with a makeup artist whose name we didn't quite catch, as we were never formally given an introduction with her name. I showed the artist a picture of the type of look I was going for and was given a beautifully blended and vibrant eyeshadow look;however, the liner, foundation, and lack of concealer under my eyebrows and around, were under par as I feel like I could have done the same application at home, as opposed to paying $60 for a dewy, glowy, glam look. Nonetheless, I went home did a few touch ups and was pretty much happy with the final look despite the $60 I feel like I wasted as I should have only payed $30 for the eyeshadow look, because that was the only "glam" part of the artist's work. My friend who is black had a horrible experience, as the makeup artist didn't seem to know what colors complimented darker skin tones, and applied a very pale foundation and silver highlighter to a girl with DARK SKIN. For $60 this is not what was expected at all considering it was a very important event that she needed to attend. All in all the makeup artist was sweet and tried to calm our nerves but the application wasn't worth $60, people go somewhere else. And if you're a person with dark skin make sure your makeup artist lets you know ahead of time that they aren't experienced with applying makeup to black people, so you don't end up look like an apparition in person and ESPECIALLY WITH FLASH. read more
