Worst ulta ever. There is literally no one on the sales floor to ask questions or to even help you out with trying to find certain products. The only person I ever see on the floor is a clinique lady. Usually they have 2 people max on the register and very long lines. Always see people getting 5 finger discounts in here, probably Because no one ever acknowledges anyone thats looking for stuff on the sales floor. See more employess in the salon but I heard they're terrible too. Honestly I can't wait for them to tear this down and make a sephora. Also, make sure you open things before you buy. My friend bought an Anastasia Beverly hills micro brow wiz and when she bought it, it looked like someone already used it. Gross. I cannot rate this particular establishment without giving it a star, it was so hard to give it a star, but I must share the horrible experience my daughter endured at the Ulta in Valley Stream. She made an appointment to have her face done. The appointment was for Saturday March 4th at 8:15 P.M. Upon arrival she looks for her make artist, Monique who states, "Sorry I won't be able to do you, I have 2 clients and I'm by myself." Well at what time did you know you were so far behind? A call or a email to let her know would have been nice. It's 2hrs. before her 21st birthday party and she's nonchalantly told go to MAC across the street. The likelihood of us returning here is 0. I cannot believe how unprofessional she was but I do thank her for sending business elsewhere. Ashley at the Macy's MAC was so professional, accommodating and took her time even though it was last minute and she was a wreck to make my baby girl happy. ULTA, never again! read more

The store is beautiful and there's a lot to choose from. It's very clean as well. I did the 10 minute facial for 10 dollars and it wasn't worth it. My skin is very sensitive and I was very red and also I broke out afterwards for like a month. It was only 10 dollars but still, they must have not used the right products. The staff is very friendly but wouldn't recommend Ulta for facials. read more

I will admit I fully expected to have an unpleasant experience because it was late at night but it was the exact OPPOSITE!!! Keiona was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and patient! I went in there with my daughter because the lady at the front said they had a hair salon in the store. Wonderful because I was looking for hair treatment so if they could administer the treatment and blow out that would be awesome, saves me the time of having to do it. Needless to say never again! They don't know how to handle African American hair. Blow dry was frizzy as hell after a protein treatment. Absolutely disappointing. Thank God that day they were offering 35% off because I would have been pissed if I spent the full price. read more

I went to this Ulta for the first time yesterday. First let me say that it's nice to have an Ulta in the neighborhood. Since they closed in Merrick it's always a treat to get to one of their stores as it's been inconvenient. So, yay! it's nice they're here. Good stuff, a young woman either arriving for work or coming back from a break (she still had her coat on) went out of her way to help me find the brand I wanted, I thought that was really sweet. The young lady in the Clinique section was charismatic and enthusiastic. Bad stuff: That young lady in Clinique, who was doing a make over for someone, in her defense, gave me really bad advice. I interrupted her (hey, life is short, they have one person working there and I don't have an extra hour to stand around waiting) and asked her advice about Clinique Blend It Yourself drops. The small package costs $33 bucks. It's not my life savings, but I don't have an extra $33.50 to waste. I asked her if I should go with the 115 or 120 (these are shades the product comes in.) She recommended the 120. I probably could have gone with a 110. The 120 is far too dark. I feel like I wasted a lot of money, though I can try using less of it and it may be ok. Either she wasn't sufficiently familiar with the product or she wasn't paying good attention. I specifically went in for a body wash they only have online. The store is rather small. They don't have a great many things. The rest of the staff were not exactly hostile, but clearly unenthusiastic. They need some training on how to make guests feel welcome. Hey, I've been in the service industry for more years than these young ladies have been alive. I get it. The public is annoying. People are often stupid, slow, needy and rude. But when you sell things you have to pretend to be happy to see them anyway. That's the job. Fake it. It's important to make customers feel welcome. They need to do a much better job at that. Upshot. I'm a frequent ulta customer and was so excited one opened up much closer to home. That said, I'll never go back to this ulta. Went in for foundation and wanted to ask a few questions, took almost 20 minutes to get help. While I was waiting some random guy came up and asked me for a dollar. In an ulta? Really? Then the guy didn't know how to look up my card on the register. Needless to say, I'll take the drive out to the next closest ulta. read more

I love that we finally have an Ulta in this area! I live close by in Rosedale so it is very convenient for me. As a person who wears hijab this full service salon sits right in the back of the store and it is great for me because I can get a haircut without having to worry about any men seeing me without my hijab. Monique did an amazing job! I got a scalp treatment and a cut (layers). She made me feel much more confident and happy with my hair. Monique is very sweet and helpful as well. I was able to get a great recommendation for which shampoo works for my oily scalp- Paul Mitchell's tea tree shampoo and lavender mint conditioner. I found out about Monique through my sister who came to get her hair done and because we loved it so much, my other sister got her hair done by Monique as well! I also want to say Irina the skin specialist did an amazing job with my facial. I had no idea Ulta had specialist for facials and I was very excited to get one for such a reasonable price. Irina was very thorough and walked me through every step of the way explaining what my skin was like and what I can do to continue taking good care of it. I was looking to by a new foundation and when I had asked several girls for help they were all helping someone. After I patiently waited Aylin attempted to help me but she did not know how to color match my skin complexion and made me feel very rushed. I ended up not leaving with anything. Had a horrible experience in this location at Valley Stream. Walked in, walking up and down for someone to ask ' how can I help ' didn't happen:( I walked beck to the door and stand for a while. A young lady in bright pink hair came up to us. I explained to her what I am looking for... she took us to a make up station, dab 2 shades of make up on my daughter face.. and say which one... this young lady had no desires to help... or it could be that we're colored people..unfortunately I walked out with my daughter feeling very disappointed... I took my daughter to a Mac make up store, I had the same conversation, ..... Ulta... it's a shame... send that young lady to learn customer service skills from Mac... we walked out of Mac, feeling valued, appreciated, all while received the best of recommendation and product... my daughter was treated like a customer by an employee who exhibited willingness to listen and help. read more

This Ulta has four stars due to the employees that I have had a privilege with helping me. Other then that you guys would received 1 star for many reasons. Due to your manager Samantha who is very rude not only to her employees which I have witnessed but to the customers as well. Stephanie who is a manger also is very helpful with the things she know and very sweet great for this business thank you. I would like to shout out Vinetta she does brows she is funny and her humor is amazing and her work is amazing thank you for helping me just learning about your benefit products. Another employee is Tiffany when I see her she always helps she's never rude she does her job professionally. Another employee who I loveee her name is keyanna if you need a foundation match, background on makeup anything to learn she is the one to go to. She is very kind every time I speak to her and I always learn new ways to do my makeup or how to apply with a sponge and brush. She taught me about the flash test to see if I can see my makeup with flash on. She makes the experience comfortable she never seems annoyed to help. I seen her help someone who was new to makeup feel very comfortable with picking just a. Foundation and concealer. She always asks you your skin type before picking the foundation you need and makes sure you are satisfied with what she is showing you. Thank you Ulta for having her here in your location she is great help. If you need anything ask for Tiffany or keyanna or vinetta they make this company great in the valley stream area. Now onto the negative the products are never in stock when you need it. Some girls never know what certain products do or act as if they don't want to help. Only problem I am seeing is this Ulta is hiring new people who DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT PLEASE TRAIN THESE GIRLS ON YOUR MAKEUP BRANDS OR AT LEAST KEEP THE ONES WHO DO KNOW ABOUT MAKEUP. There is an employee here harpreet she do not know anything or refuses to help and her attitude is beyond me. The other manager Spanish girl with blue hair every time I go to seems as if she is angry or rather be somewhere else that's bad for business. You ask a question she seems annoyed. Hello! I just left your Vestal, NY location in tears. The tears actually froze to my face while I walked to my car. I decided to try something new and pamper myself with a haircut and front hi lights for my hair. When I called to make my appointment I specifically asked for someone who is experienced with color and with naturally curly hair. I was assured my stylist was and would be in excellent hands. I was contacted by phone around 1230 today and was asked to arrive early to my 2:15 appointment as they had room to take me early. I arrived at 1:45 only to wait till 2:15 for anyone to even come out at the salon. I was greeted by Shannon who said she was going to do my hair today. I explained I have concerns about my curly hair and covering my grays. She assured me she had ample experience to handle all my hair needs. She was very friendly. We reviewed the color book. I pointed out the hair color you had on your advertisement hanging on the wall and indicated I wanted that same color. Nice, subtle red hi-light on top of my medium brown hair. Shannon showed me some samples in the book that were orange and very red. I indicated I did not want a full head of red hair or anything orange. I then reiterated what was on the giant poster on the wall behind her...pointing...give me this! It's brown hair...which I already have and subtle red highlights. She gets to work. First time she rinses my hair it is blond and bright burnt orange. She seems confused but assures me it will darken up with the application of the glaze, kind of like the finishing touches on a holiday ham. She glazes my hair and now the blond parts are bright orange along with the rest of my hair. She again is perplexed. Her coworker comes over to assist as she realizes Shannon has done something incorrectly. She assists her several times, having to apply additional cream and glaze multiple times only to find out that Shannon has been using the wrong combination of chemicals the whole time. The other stylist has to walk Shannon over and show her bottle by bottle how to complete this process. She instructs Shannon to not charge me for the highlights as "it's not her fault you did it wrong!" I again am glazed. Shannon reports " I had no idea that is how you did this color, I've always done it the other way! No wonder it never takes!" We again sit in the chair, remove the towel and I have bright red, fire engine red hair. My full head. She then said, oh I love your red hair! I reminded her I did not want red hair and she assured me it would be darker when it dried. She gave me a haircut then attempted to send me away with soaking wet hair. Btw it's -16 here today, so I asked her to blow dry it. It's absolutely bright red. Nothing what I asked for. People were looking at me with their mouthes wide open. One woman apologized to me for the condition of my hair. Shannon rang me out and not only did she willfully upcharge me for a full color and full highlights she also had the stones to charge me extra for the additional glazing and creams she had to use to attempt to correct her mistake. $263.00 for what was to be a haircut and front highlights. I walked to the front crying. The nice checkout girl got the manager. Who asked me why I did not let Shannon know I was unhappy. I assumed letting her know I did not want red hair was enough. She removed the color charge, told me I could come back tomorrow and try again if I wanted and charged me 90.00. I explained to her I'm a nurse with 2 jobs. I was there for 4.5 hours today and don't have time or the faith in your abilities to come back. She then asked me if I would like to leave Shannon a monetary tip. Really? What an absolutely horrible experience. I look ridiculous. I'm a profession person and have no idea how I'm going to go to work looking like this? How can you run a business like this? Shannon should not be allowed to touch anyone's hair ever again. Check your yelp reviews, Shannon comes up frequently for messing up hair and up-charging. Horrible way to run a business. read more

Today was my 3rd time at this location and I must say today was by far the worst experience I've ever had not only at an ulta but as a client at a Hair salon. It started off bad when they called me and tried to move my appointment up AN HOUR! After I told them no and confirmed both my appointments there seemed to be confusion. Once we straightened that out, after Monique the stylist on the phone was incredibly rude, I was looking forward to my appointment. My friend and I arrived and they made us feel unwelcome because they messed up and didn't have an extra stylist...as I said we made 2 appointments. They claimed a girl called out but if that's the case it's not our problem and they could have called someone to come in if that's true. The stylist Petrona decided she would do both of ours. One of us got curls we didn't even ask for, and had to re do, meanwhile we still left unhappy. And the other one of us had hair that had a curl but nothing to hold it in (product). Lastly the charged BOTH OF US for a curly updo- meanwhile we only wanted straight blowouts. When we went to pay we rated the salon 1 star and the MANAGER said " Dayummmm" instead of "oh my why was the experience so bad?!" Overall the experience was awful & i advise you not to go. read more

I love love love the girls that work on the high end side they are very knowledgeable. I got helped by the girl with the blonde hair kyanna she is very sweet and she helped me pick my perfect foundation for my skin type and showed me different ways to do it. I will recommend this ulta to anyone. Thanks to kyanna I will love going to their high end side , she always helps me and takes her time with me. Highly recommend if you need to find the perfect foundation she will not only help you out she will make sure you are comfortable and give you sooooo many tips. I am giving 4 stars due to the other girls who work on the high end side they do not help me or have the patience to listen usually talking amongst their self or checking their phones. Sometimes it is okay to smile ladies. If you want makeup knowledge please ask for keyanna with the blonde hair she is amazing.
