I went to purchase some mascara. I noticed that they were having a sale and if you purchased $19.50 of ulta make up you would get a make up bag with make up in it for free. So I purchased $40 of makeup and then at the cash register was told that they didn't have any makeup bags. I said what do I do. The young lady said go to one of our other stores and hope they have it . So I called one of the other stores and they said they did so I drove the 30 minutes over to the store and was told that I would have to return my items that I purchased and then re purchased them. I said ok. The young lady was a little upset that I wanted to do it this way and then she told me that I would owe $2.78 even though it should have been an even exchange. She tried to tell me that I had used a discount which I had not.. I explained to her to please look at the receipt and you will see that it's a straight even exchange she then called the manager and they spent about 20 minutes working on it and and they finally fixed it so that I received a refund, a partial refund . (Which means that there is a discrepancy in pricing from store to store or their machines are effed up. I decided to purchase something else and the young lady was a little upset that I took up so much of her time the 1st time and it was obvious in the way she dealt with me. Not sure that I'll be going back to that particular Ulta. But I did receive 2 free makeup bags. read more

So I typically don't go into ULTA, but Amy from my fav show Bobby Bones advertised 21 days of beauty. That sounded amazing! But who knew it would lead to some disappointment at the same time. I got excited for the nail polish $2 Thursday sale and they had nothing left! It looked like the place was not even stocked. So I check some of the other beauty deals only to find out same situation. Even though the item is not on promotion today, but will be in a few days they were OUT or only had a couple of the items. I knew they wouldn't re-stock till Tuesday & one of the workers mentioned they don't always get what they need on the Tuesday shipment. I was overall understanding and picked up something else, bought it, left, and used my $3.50 off $10 coupon on some other amazing goods. The part that gets me most frustrated is the lack of help in the store. I had to wait 15 min in line, not to check out, but to ask an associate a question, then had to go back at the end of the line again once I was done picking out my goods. This only made me fall in love with Sephora more. They are always overly staffed and provide samples and great suggestions. I didn't get the same customer service satisfaction at ULTA. There is 1 great thing about ULTA, they carry all the other small / cheaper beautify brands that retail stores don't have space for or items Sephora doesn't even consider to carry. I was able to discover some great new cheap lipsticks in shades and long lasting pigments I never knew existed. That overall made the trip worth it, though the stuff I wanted was not there. This place is great Ulta has a massive selection of beauty products for every budget.

No one acknowledge us the entire time. Was trying to shade match a foundation and find a new brand because I've been a loyal Sephora shopper. Overheard an associate tell another customer she couldn't shade match because their return policy is too lenient. Walked around several aisles trying to find someone who wasn't more interested in moving their products than the actual customers. Will continue to shop at Sephora instead. read more

ULTA has lost my business permanently. It never fails, every time I go in there I receive nothing better than a frosty reception from the girls working. On the most recent occasion, I watched the makeup artist cater to the woman's needs and I waited patiently for my turn. When she was done, the employee completely ignored me and walked herself to the front of the store and began chatting with the girl behind the register. Ulta, being the never overly staffed store that it is, didn't have any other options for me for people I could ask for help to find my color match in the tarte line - a switch I was interested in making because of breakouts I'd been having from another line. After I got her attention, she half heartedly showed me where I could find tarte, told me to play with the colors to find my match and walked away. Thank you so much for that (sarcasm). I would figure that someone like myself who has spent over $400 dollars in a calendar year to achieve the desirable "platinum" membership status that ULTA promotes out the window, would be able to get some decent customer service, but apparently not. I will take my money elsewhere. If this were a first time offense, maybe not. But repeated behavior indicates an entire store mentality that personally I have no desire to keep pouring my money into. read more

Very helpful staff. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a very friendly worker. I told her I only wanted to look around. Eventually, I wasn't able to find what I wanted so I ended up asking for help. One of the ladies was nearby, so I walked up to her. I started talking for like a minute until I realized she was still talking to one of the workers in the front through her earpiece! Apparently they were really busy that day trying to assist other customers. It was understandable. She eventually redirected her attention to moi and everything only went great from there. She walked me around the skincare section and we looked at toners and moisturizers. She let me sample a few and gave me some recommendations. What I liked most was her honesty. She told me what she liked personally and what she thought would be the best for my type of skin. I walked out of the store knowing more than I did when I had walked in. Overall, Ulta's a nice place to shop for beauty products if you're the type of person who enjoys shopping in peace but can still easily get help when needed. The only thing that disappointed me when I was there was they did not carry any of the items I asked about (interestingly, these items could be found on their website). read more
