There are a variety of classes throughout the day, ranging from boot camp to yoga. Your children are welcome to come with you. I've brought my kids and they watch a movie just a few feet away from me while I exercise (childcare isn't provided). The younger one can stay in the stroller and can be picked up or the stroller can be pushed around as needed. Everyone is so friendly. In addition to the classes, they have social events like salad in a jar (meal prep type) and play dates! It's a great little community!

From the…read moremoment class started, the instructor never introduced herself before or after class, which immediately felt unwelcoming. Mind you this is our first time trying gymnastics ever! What was even more upsetting was how my 5-year-old daughter was treated. The instructor looked at her with what appeared to be disgust and consistently ignored her while helping the other children in the class. My daughter is on the heavier side, and it genuinely felt like she was being treated differently because of her size. Every child deserves encouragement, patience, and equal attention, especially at such a young age. To make matters worse, the instructor spent what felt like 99% of the class on her phone instead of actively teaching, demonstrating skills, or paying attention to the children. Parents trust instructors to engage with and supervise their kids, and that simply did not happen. This experience left my daughter feeling excluded, and no child should leave gymnastics feeling that way. We will not be returning, and I sincerely hope the facility addresses both the professionalism of its staff and how every child is treated, regardless of their appearance. No child should leave a gymnastics class feeling ignored or less worthy than the other kids. We will absolutely not be returning, and I cannot recommend this gym to any parent looking for a positive, inclusive environment for their child unless your child is skinny. Definitely went and tried another gymnastics place and they definitely helped my child, was very attentive stayed off the phone and made her feel welcomed with all of her new friends!

Toby's staff is very professional, great with children, cheerful and inspiring. They offer a first free class on Saturdays at 11AM. They started him with a pool noodle to understand the basic stance and moves. Toby has a kind way of requiring respectful behavior from the students. He moved on to using full Olympic weapon and protective gear by the 3rd lesson. He loved having chances to "stab his teacher" on the last day. It looked so fun but also extremely educational!

My son had his 10th birthday at Duke City Fencing today and had a great time. The end of the lesson the kids got to fence one another in full garb. Everyone had a blast. Duke City fencing set up tables for our food, supplied the silverware, plates and cups and cleaned up. A very nice facility and a lot of fun. My husband also participated and it was quite the workout he said. My son now wants to take fencing lessons. Highly recommend!

But at Martial Artistry, there is always something new to learn, and goals to work toward. I love the class format, wonderful instructors that provide encouragement and help. Sifu does an incredible job of instructing, motivating and encouraging in a superbly professional manner. While I am a student with more age than the average student, the program is structured so that all can advance and achieve at the level desired, in a very organized, fun environment. It is fun for me to watch the kids class and see the enthusiasm, self discipline and physical training they are developing - what great skills to cultivate at young ages. This is a school for kids not adults. I was a member for years. I was rarely promoted while 12…read moreyear olds were black belts. I started sparring black belts and made them look like fools. Sensei Anna hated me so much, she strangled me unconscious-- an illegal move in karate -- and tried to kill me. I'm lucky to be alive. If you value your life, you will avoid this school. If they don't like you, they will try to kill you. They say "karate is a dangerous sport and you signed a waiver." It doesn't matter that the instructor killed you with an illegal tactic. This is the most dangerous karate school in existence. If you walk out there alive, count yourself lucky. They also used to have a sadistic monster there named Clarence who would fight new white belts at full force using every illegal tactic in the book. Run from this school. The irony is that I caught one of Sensei Anna's kicks. I could have kicked her remaining leg out from underneath her, but I was trying to be kind, sportsman like. My reward for kindness was that she tried to kill me. I look over all of these five star reviews from parents. None of these people have had to spar Anna. She's a dirty fighter. If she can't win fair and square, she will cheat.

Not only has he learned skills in karate that enhance his core strength and dexterity, he is also learning responsibility and commitment. The senseis here are very patient with my son and have worked with him at his level. They encourage him and even check up on him if he is absent. They are truthful about his skills, yet kind. They have several different levels of classes and each student must work on a homework sheet each month as well as a Self Discipline card that the students return before they are allowed to test up in belts. The Self Discipline cards have a reading section, a karate practice section, and a chores section. MEKA also bring in senpais at times to work with the students one on one or in small groups to help them be more successful. I'm so very glad that we found this dojo.
