My friend had been coming here for years and recommended it to me. Staff is friendly and helpful. Prices seem pretty reasonable, even discounts for government employees. It's a lot bigger inside than I thought it would be (I didn't even know this location existed to be honest), a wide variety of equipment, and a large mat area (which is an important feature to me). Best. Local. Gym. Very clean! Small but just right. Very friendly staff and trainers. My best friend recommended this place about 6 months ago and I fell in love instantly. It's 24 hrs so it's perfect for those late night workouts to blow off steam! It's very quiet which is very nice you never have to wait for a machine or bench. They have plenty of cardio machines and weights. They have showers and towels to use which is very convenient for some people. They also offer free weekly workout classes which is very nice. I would recommend this place to literally everyone but I also like that it's the best kept secret. ;) read more

I really need to leave a review for these guys before I am forced to find a new gym due to a move. I like the gym... clean, friendly and never full. Though it's a small place, I can usually use whatever I want without waiting for it. They're good about keeping machines in good repair. They offer many classes if that's your thing. Possibly the biggest benefit is they're always open, go figure that the Open Gym is always open. Your own key card allows access 24/7 and holidays. When I first started working out there it was nice to be able to go whenever and occasionally have the whole place to myself. A shame they don't have other locations. read more

Ok, aside from the"NewYearResolvers" who typically clear outta the joint first of March, elbow-touching dont happen.... I know, I've been going a couple times a wk a couple years now. While I may not consider myself a gym rat (but a former lab rat yes...) I really enjoy how clean they keep this place & the fact its open 24-7-365. Like all gyms they've got their busy time of day...seasons...but for the most part you can drop in & find any piece of regular equipment empty & beckoning you. Save for the occasional grunting body builders marking territory & putting sweat-soaked towels over free weight equipment area, the place is really at your disposal! Free Classes are incl. with the membership & I don't think you can do better with only a $20 monthly membership to boot! I've been a member at the open gym for 2 years and love this place. All of the staff are amazing and willing to help. The trainers are knowledgeable and give wonderful advice. If you're looking for a gym that is not overcrowded or intimidating this is the spot. They also keep the gym very clean and keep up with maintenance of the machines. I love this place. When you refer a friend to join this place, they give you a free month of membership. This gym is open 24 hours and even on holidays (which are my favorite times to come). They have a shower in each restroom and offer free classes weekly, ranging from Aerobics to Zumba. I personally haven't tried any classes due to work schedules, but I would if I could. UPDATE: I have asked staff repeatedly to have the manager contact me and have not heard back. I just want an explanation as to why this happened. I'm asking for a simple common curtesy. I learned a valuable lesson today about reading contracts, as employees will lie right to your face. Several months ago, I came in to ask for a trial one-month membership, as the company I work for pays for gym memberships and I wanted to choose a good gym before committing. The woman at the front desk said, "Sure, no problem, we can absolutely just do a contract for 1 month", so I signed the paperwork. I had NO IDEA I was signing a one-year commitment, she said several times, "Yes, you will be charged for just one month". Today I got a call from collectors, who were incredibly mean, threatening to ruin my credit and asking for $410 for not paying for fees, as I changed banks right after this happened. He also said that if I had questions, "take it to court". The Open Gym NEVER contacted me to tell me that my account had been delinquent for months. I was completely unaware that I owed them money. If I would have known, I would have just had my company begin payments. But I didn't like this gym and only went two times. I'm furious. I feel completely conned and now I'm out hundreds of dollars. My ideal gym schedule would run about 6 days a week. I travel for work and I do my best not to complain about hotel gyms but man... a brotha can only do so much with 2 cardio machines and a couple of medicine balls. So I jumped online and figured I'd pay for a gym and came across this one! I found that there was a free first day pass and when I arrived, every solid review was spot on. The gym is clean and open, it wasn't really too busy at all, and it had plenty of weights and benches for the advanced gym rat; and if punching bags and boxing is your thing, they have a complete separate room for that as well If I lived in ABQ I would honestly sign up for a membership here, you won't be disappointed read more

I cannot say enough good things about this gym. I've been here off and on for a couple years now, and not once have I ever felt intimidated. The staff are friendly, as well as the people. Though I have never worked with the trainers here, they are also extremely friendly and always make it a point to say hello. Really liked this gym. As a serious athlete it had everything I needed (even for the more obscure exercises) and great cardio equipment. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating and I liked it much better than the bigger chain gyms. Best gym in Albuquerque...never crowded, reasonably priced, attendant on duty during day/early eve, clean, and no one walking around trying to impress. Adelaide is also by far the best trainer in ABQ, having had several different ones at competitor gyms in town. read more
