So far disappointed and confused by this process. Getting work should be simple and straightforward... Work and payments were nicely laid out on contract. There was check #1 due after demolition; check #2 after tile; check #3 after quarts application; and lastly check #4 after removal and replacement of spa light, white plastic joint inserts on pool deck, and additional tile on steps. Check #1 and #2 were provided after completion of this work; however, I just found out that check #4 was also demanded, but this work has NOT been completed. Run! Do NOT hire this company. The salesman will promise you everything you want and then you're left with the opposite. The company is too cheap to provide a port a potty, so the workers urinate on the side of your house. If you complain about something the owner threatens to pull the workers off the job even if they're working on something completely different. The office staff will lie and tell you the owner is out of town when he is not. If you try to make some sort of compromise the owner will refuse and tell you too bad. Oh and they also hid a ton of gravel and cement that should have been hauled away under a layer of dirt so we didn't find it until we were preparing to put sod down. After countless disappointing appointments with either the person never showing up, never receiving a quote that was promised or finding out they were not licensed. While I cannot judge the quality of a brand new pool or Jacuzzi construction, I can only speak on the services that we sought from ultimate pool remodeling company. We had them give us an estimate to do I work for resurfacing and plastering and they had us sign a contract that did not guarantee color stain but within a few months not even a full year the color started to wash away they said it would give us some years before feeding but it did not even last one year. We tried to get them to come out and every single time they two weeks, two weeks. These two week portions are now years, and now their warranty is void it was all gimmicks and games with this company and I would not recommend them to my worst enemy to do a pool plaster job for them read more

This company is a nightmare to deal with! We have had numerous problems with our full pool remodel. Uneven tile, drip lines in the plaster coming from every nozzle, sharp edges where they cut the concrete and now we have rebar poking up out of the pool. I dont understand how rebar is pertruding from the plaster but it is a huge safety hazard. Once they have you're money they stop caring! I had a sales rep come out and spend a few hours with me. We talked about what I wanted and he measured my current pool, gave me ideas and options. Prior to leaving he left a brochure and told me he would email me a quote within in a few days. I really felt comfortable with this person and was looking forward to my quote because this seemed like a great company to work with. I liked the reps sales pitch and background better than anyone else I had come out to quote me. Sadly, I never heard back from him. I didn't call or ask where my quote was because I am of the opinion that if you don't get back to me like you say you will, you don't want my business, and it's indicative of what future service will be. A few months later I got an email from Daniel asking if I had made a decision on my pool remodel. I responded to him that I never received a quote back from the company. He emailed back that he would have a sales person contact me and to date, I haven't been contacted. If this is how they run their business, I'm glad I didn't go with them. read more

Ultimate Pools recently completed a $55k+ major remodel of my pool/spa combo including engineering, raising the pool bottom, adding loveseats and roman steps, quartz plaster and new tile/deck with a raised planter, a complete re-plumb with IntelliFlo pump, Delta UV sanitation and EasyTouch8 control system w/ Intellichlor salt chlorine generator. I chose Ultimate because of all the bidders, they were the best overall value with the best and most thoughtful ideas and willingness to integrate their work with work I self-performed (I'm a former contractor) and also because they perform all scope with tenured employees, versus the other bidders who broker their work using subs. Ultimate also had the most attractive schedule and contingencies for weather protection during construction, although El Nino turned out to be a non-issue. The work progressed smoothly, on or ahead of schedule, with payments due upon completion of milestones at discrete phases of work. No advance payment was required. The PM (Juan) was polite, knowledgeable and kept me apprised of the work completed and a kept a 1-week look-ahead calendar. During construction, Ultimate was very flexible about layout, minor scope changes at no cost and field art direction by my wife for the roman steps, loveseats, planter and raising the pool bottom. Pricing for some additional scope was agreed with transparency of labor and equipment estimates to arrive at reasonable pricing. I dealt directly with Daniel, the owner, on these issues. He was responsive and fair. Because they self-perform all work by discrete, dedicated crews, there were some "no work" days built into schedule and advised up front. Each crew was polite, had an English-speaking lead and left my yard broom-clean each day with no debris stored on site. This was important for the safety of my family and dog. I inspected the work daily and on the whole job I found only a few minor problems, which were corrected immediately and none of which were out of code compliance. For example, there were a few times that detailed layout info wasn't completely communicated from one crew to the next (such as from masonry to plumbing regarding finish elevation of the new deck) but again, these corrections were made by Ultimate with no lost time or other issues. If you're changing to a saltwater pool and/or installing a new wifi controller, I highly recommend having Ultimate do the startup after water fill, which includes setup/training of the controller and apps, loading in the salt and discussing water chemistry, especially with a UV sanitation system working in tandem with salt-based chlorine. A few months after completion, I contacted Ultimate for an issue that turned out not to be warranty-related because it was not in their original scope. Daniel remodeled my pool, pool equipment, removed my old concrete decking and replaced with pavers. Beautiful work, finished earlier then expected, and came in on what we budgeted for. He has the nicest group of guys that work for him, friendly, happy, show up on time. Some pavers have started to shift and lift as the pool remodel was done about 3 and a half years ago. Very poor service delivery. Back in August I contacted them to give me a quote on an entire pool remodel. They were too expensive as was other companies so I split it up and gave a portion of the job to several different companies to save money. It has worked out great but now that all that is left to be done is tile and plaster I contacted Ultimate again to get a quote for only the tile and plaster. Their employee that came out before, Shawn, had given me his business card and told me if I need to reach out to him to call him directly. I called Shawn twice. He did not pick up either time so I left a detailed message for him to call me back both times to arrange for him to set up a date to get a new quote on the tile and plaster He never returned my call. I really wanted to go with WestCoast because they get 5 stars across the board, and I met the owner, who seemed hard working and honest. But, they were booked all summer and I selfishly wanted mine to be done sooner. I see that decision was a mistake, especially with the previous bad reviews, and I should have gone with my gut to hold out. The salesman, Tom, at Ultimate was very responsive at the beginning, and for some reason, he acted like he was the owner, promising that if anything went wrong, he would be sure that it would be fixed, the company would hold themselves liable and that they would be responsive. This sold me but I didn't find out until after I signed that he wasn't the owner. I should not have been fooled by this act as all he wanted to do was sell their business-- dumb me. Now, I am trying to get a response back from the company regarding an issue, and I cannot seem to get a hold of anyone-- after I have dumped more than $20K into my pool. That is just shady. That may not seem like a lot of money relative to your other clients, but that's a lot of money to me and I expect quality customer service. I trusted you to be a company that I could rely on if there were issues. Please prove me wrong and send someone out to resolve my issue. On note of the workers, they were excellent. So I searched for a plaster company for a couple months. Lot of work meeting and getting quotes. Decided to go with Ultimate Pool Remodeling. After we agreed on the work to be done, we set a time and date to sign contract. I have other contractors at home for various projects and needed to coordinate with them. After all the work and agreements, Ultimate tries to strong arm me into letting them do the additional work. They were to do plaster and tile only. I have someone else for pool decking. After committing to them for a month and last minute, they advise that if I don't let them do the decking, they won't do the plaster. Now mind you, if I wasn't doing decking, they would be just fine with only the plaster. Issues always come up on contracting projects. I am grateful that they showed their true colors before I signed the contract. I wouldn't touch this company with a 10 foot pole....apparently the owner can come in at whatever stage and break up the agreement that their salesman negotiated. read more

Signed a contract with Tom, a sales agent for this company. He promised to bring by tile samples on a certain day. He did not & didn't call. He promised to do it on the following business day. I called the business that morning & left a message for him, stating that I expected the samples that day or I would cancel the contract. Got a call back from Daniel with a very bad attitude, who ended up cancelling the contract because I expected people to do what they say. Just imagine if there were any problems during the job & dealing with him!!!! They do not answer their business phone & rely on an answering service during business hours. They did the work when they said they would. They charged the amount they said they would. I haven't had to hire a contractor for a large project before, so I was a little anxious. They had three crews. One to demolish the old tile and plaster, one to install the new tile and one to put in the new plaster. Every crew was on time, cleaned up after their work and was professional and courteous. They did not collect any money up front, but only when one of the crews finished their assigned work. This company does not subcontract the work, and I think that's a really good way to go. When I called the company I always got a quick answer that was accurate. No surprises. My plaster was apparantly over 20 years old, it was falling apart all over the place. I had a several quotes by local pool contractors to get new plaster and tile. Ultimate Pool Remodeling not only gave a very comparable rate to the others, but seemed more professional and had more experience behind the company. When getting my quote, Eric was also very informative and suggested some FANTASTIC ideas. I was unaware at the time that I could make additions to my pool, but Eric informed me that I could add a reef section or baja step in the shallow end, and also suggested a bench seat in the deep end. After thinking about it for a day, I had to have them, I measured out what I thought would work best and was given a very reasonable price for the additions. The only thing I would do different if I could, would be to go with my own sourced plumbing guy. (My pool is very old and I wanted to add a dedicated vacuum line for a Kreepy Krauly). I could have gotten a little more work for a little less price in retrospect. I think they said Ultimate Pool contracts out their plumbing work on remodels. Any questions or concerns I had during the construction process were immediately answered and or fixed. In the end I am very happy with the color, the tile and the work done on my pool. The additions of the reef and bench seat really update the pools usability, and I would definitely recommend Ultimate Pool Remodeling to anyone looking to update or build a new pool. read more

I wasn't sure who to call on for help, I checked a couple yelp reviews for some pool companies and went with the closest to my house. They were very kind over the phone and came out to my house and figured out the problem with my pool almost immediately. Congratulations to whoever is reading this for doing your due diligence, I wish I had done mine! There are this many bad reviews for a reason. It started out great, a couple of days after signing the papers the demo crew showed up and knocked their part out in a day. Impressed so far. A week later the next crew came and did the electrical and plumbing. Unfortunately the lines they ran were nowhere near where the estimator said they would be along the back of the house "in the last intrusive way possible". This after I dug all the plants out of the planter beds I thought would be in their way. They had cut a lot of my cement deck away to run the lines in the most intrusive way possible and basically left the mess for the next crew. After two weeks of waiting I called to see if and when they would be coming back and the girl told me that they don't know until the day before what they're schedule is, but don't worry they'll call when they know (I think she moved my name to the bottom of the list). I decided to move one of their piles of debris myself because it was right in the middle of a walkway to my yard. After two more weeks of waiting I called the estimator (on a Thurs.) to ask what's going on and if they were still going to make the deadline one week away, he said he'd find out, but that he thought my coping was on back-order. The next day (Fri.) the girl called to say they'd be here on Sat. to do coping and tile, which they were. As soon as they were finished she called to let us know the plasterers would be there the next day to finish up, which they were, and when they left the yard was almost as clean as before the job. There were still a couple of small piles of blue plaster here and there. 8 days of work that took just over 6 weeks! I have no problem with the workers, they busted their butts, sometimes in the blazing 95º sun. The company itself gets an F- in communication, with me and each other. If they were waiting on coping (for a month?!), which I doubt given the prompt response after I mentioned their deadline, why not call and let me know? As far as with each other, the right hand didn't seem to know what the left was doing. Plumbing and electrical ran totally different than what I was told. I told the estimator that I wanted the plumbing stubbed out so I could add solar heating in the future, didn't happen. I was the one telling them how the Shamu shelf and 3rd step were supposed to go (good thing I was home). I had also asked about lining the edge of the new shamu shelf with matching tile so grandkids and dogs could easily see the edge and was told that it was "not a good idea; might be damaged by the plasterers; wouldn't guarantee it", etc. When I asked how it was that they didn't damage the tile on the side walls, his response should have clued me in, he said "they just don't". He seemed to think that there was some sort of sanding or grinding to be done when "exposing" the quartz finish when in reality it's done with an acid wash which got all over the side tiles and didn't hurt a thing. But after seeing the pics of other reviewers, I'm sooo glad they talked me out of it! The last guys that were there, the acid washers, told me to go ahead and fill the pool when they were finished and we haven't heard from them since (2 months now), to inquire if everything was alright, anything else need finishing, or to give us any literature for the new equipment. In the month that we were waiting for something to happen I grabbed the manual for the LED light out of the box that they left laying around, otherwise we had no clue how any of it worked. The contract does state that we can get manuals online, but we have no part numbers to go by except on the salt system so we're left to guess. There is also still plaster (quartz) blobs here and there on the tiles. The coping blocks are so uneven and wavy there is a perpetual puddle in front of my steps due to the angle of the blocks. The acid washers must have left a little acid in the bottom of the deep end a little too long because there's a distinct white outline in the blue quartz where it settled. Somehow they managed to screw up my electrical panel door so it doesn't close correctly. Bottom line, would I use them again or recommend them? What do you think? read more

The good news... they did finish on time per the contract. The overall replastering looks okay, not great, especially with the lights on or in cloudy conditions. The tile is mostly okay with the exception of the top of the spa wall between he pool and spa, and that was after we had them redo it. The tile cost seems a little on the high side, given that it was basically just a single band of six inch tile around the perimeter. As some other reviewers had mentioned, Tom, the salesman made a good pitch and showed a reasonable timeline and indicated that our timing conditions could be accommodated. They could start quickly and finish in a few weeks, including a week we were gone, and do all the work themselves, which some others did not. Now the bad news... they are not good at coordinating. They showed up to do the tile without letting us know they were coming and we weren't home. We came home from our first appointment found them there, almost done. We asked the crew why they were here and they said we were called. I told them no, we were not... he called up Daniel, the owner, and gave me his phone to speak to him and he insisted the company had spoken with us the day before, though Daniel could not provide any details of who was spoken to, the time or number called. We had to leave before they were done, but we did speak to their scheduler who, it turns out, thought she talked to us but was mistaken. I had asked for Daniel to call me back, he did not, so don't expect him to return any calls or offer any apologies for his errors. Also, they were not prepared with the lien releases that were to be provided prior to the next check, in fact the crew Forman didn't really have knowledge that they were to have them to give to the clients as per the contract. As for the workers, they were generally courteous and efficient. However, and I'm not sure if this occurs on all of their projects or just the more rural ones, but their cleanup procedures are terrible. After they were done and I was straightening things up, I found that they routinely cleaned out there vacuums and other tools in my landscaping and decorative rock. You can't imagine how hard it is to get concrete, tile, mortar, and plaster debris out of rocks, some of which are still stained. They did not ask and it was not readily visible when they left. Also, they threw the plaster water on some of the plants, hopefully they will recover and not be damaged. As a pool remodeling contractor, they should have a plan for removing all of the debris used in their work from the premises, not just most of it. Also, they should have a cleanup policy and provide better direction to their employees on what is acceptable behavior while working in people's yards and property... and if in doubt, ask the homeowner BEFORE dumping debris or dirty water anywhere. Bottom line is I would not use them again or recommend them to anyone else. If you do decide to use them, make sure you do a thorough walk-thru after each stage and don't pay them until all of the debris is removed from your landscaping and yard. read more
