At the start of the new year, my 80+ year old mother, and long time Binghamton resident, finally agreed she should no longer be driving. I was relieved she had come to this decision, but living in NYC, had no idea where to turn in order to sell her car. As most people do these days, I started online with websites like 'Carvana', who seemed to be promising impossible amounts of money for a car they had never seen (it was over the KBB rate). It just felt like the whole thing would be a mess and I would wind up with it unsold and frustrated. I wanted to deal with a person, in person. I began calling local car dealerships and had the good fortune of reaching Mike at Auto Smart. On the phone, I explained my predicament to Mike. He was understanding and compassionate to the situation I was in, yet also realistic in his approach as to how much he could offer for the car. No wild promises, which I appreciated, and he was so accommodating to see me on a very tight schedule when we would be in town. This man knows his industry and, with the little bit of research I had done, I felt I could trust his offer. We agreed on a sale price for the car that made us both happy. If you are in need of a car, I would not hesitate to buy from him.

Needed a new battery and alternator. After 6 months of owning the rack and pinion, power steering pump had to be changed, new exhaust system, valve cover gaskets, brakes/rotors, new oil pan, tie rods and alignment. I've sunk way too much into this car. It clunks now and am being told the sway bar links are shot. I'm on my second year of having this car and have literally replaced and fixed everything. I have every receipt of work done. If I could give a zero review I would. Guys a crook not sure who inspected the car but threat person should be fired.

Went there with another appointment was Saturday morning first thing and they still made me wait a half hour before they even pulled my car when I was first person of the day And to look for an exhaust leak the which they said was fine. This place is the reason there are stereotypes about car salesmen. Before we even put the car in…read morepark there was someone standing at the window ready to begin plugging how good of a deal he could get us. Right away we were bombarded with questions and it was relentless. You could tell he was on commission. After an uncomfortable amount of time listening to him talk we were directed to the financing guy who seemed even shadier. He was very cocky about how he could get everyone approved for a loan. We came looking for a specific SUV that was well in our budget but he kept giving the finance companies info on a totally different car that we absolutely didn't want but was of course about $4000 more. Needless to say we were not approved and then just cut loose without so much as a thank you for coming. The service department is just as bad. I had an appointment for an oil change but my car didn't go in until an hour and a half later. Why bother having appointments? After my appointment I opened the hood to put washer fluid in since they couldn't bother to top off fluids and I noticed my oil cap was missing. I went back and spoke with the service manager who confronted the mechanic. The mechanic argued that he put the cap on and got visibly annoyed with me. The service manager was nice enough to get me a new oil cap and came out with me to put it on. We discovered the old one lodged in the hood liner above the dent in my PCM it made from him shutting the hood on it. Aside from that one service manager, nobody in that place knows how to listen. I will never set foot on that lot again.

There was a small issue with a sensor that they took care of quickly and completely. I live about 100 miles away from the dealership so they saved me a trip by setting me up with a repair shop close to home who took care of the problem. I recall reading a generally negative review on another site where the customer complained that the company seemed a little too laid back and its employees seemed to be more interested in watching a soccer match on television than selling cars. For me, that was a plus, not a minus. Unlike visits to other car dealerships where it seems as if the sales rep is always trying to convince me that I am his/her new best friend, Leo and the folks at Priceline are not those phony, cookie cutter car sales reps, but just decent people trying to do a good job for their customers. I think that they realize that they won't make every sale but that if they treat their customers and would-be customers properly, they will come out far ahead in the long run. These are the type of people that I enjoy doing business with. I highly recommend!
