Located inside a charming Uptown "house-turned-salon", Ulux brings a boutique vibe to your usual nail day routine...which was a cozy feel that I instantly liked. I stopped in during the 4th of July holiday week with my three nieces (two little ones and my twenty-something shopping buddy, lol) and we had such a lovely time. Even though it was busy, they made sure we had a comfortable space. Kevin was super accommodating from the moment I booked. He helped coordinate everything so the group could stay together, and I appreciated the attention to detail (also shoutout to Mandy, Diane and V!...our techs for the day). My elder niece and I went with spa pedicures, and I also had dip removal and a nail shape-up on my natural nails. My pedicure was terrific--the leg massage almost put me to sleep in the chair--I was so relaxed and it was just what I needed. My niece also got a manicure and said her experience was good, not mind-blowing, but still enjoyable. The little ones got their nails polished and were happy as can be. The Ulux staff even let them hang out in a massage chair together like "big girls" while they waited for our services to wrap up--adorable. Ulux offers complimentary drinks too: wine, soda, and water. My elder niece and I sipped wine, the girls got a bag of chips from the staff, and it all made for a festive girls' day out. Also, I received a discount as a first time visitor, which was a nice touch. Kevin mentioned they also have a second location in Oak Lawn, which I plan to check out next time. Parking in this area can be a little difficult, so I chose to Uber--definitely a smart move on a busy holiday week. All in all, it was a relaxing and fun experience with friendly vibes, a great atmosphere, and excellent customer service. I'll definitely be back for more pampering soon. I have been getting my nails done by Jessica for over two years and don't plan on stopping. She makes sure my nails always look perfect! They have so many colors and are always getting new additions (though I almost always end up getting pink/nude nails). I have always had a good experience there and when I've needed a touch up or a color change they've gotten me right back in. I called for an appointment and was able to stop by after my lunch meeting in Uptown. I was looking for a gel mani (~$43) and a regular Pedi ($33), and I was happy to see that they offer a matching nail color set for gel and regular polish. The process was efficient as you get both mani and Pedi done simultaneously. It is not something that I am used to in NYC, but it saved time! I had Renee for the gel mani and Tracy for the Pedi. I live really close to Ulux and have been several times now. There is another salon nearby which I like as well, but what I love most about Ulux is the convenience and ease of scheduling an appointment online. You can select what service you want and select who you would like to do it. You receive confirmation quickly, and the team at Ulux always does their best to accommodate. I really appreciate that and feel taken care of as a customer! I've had Nikki do my nails the past 3-4 times I've been. She is so sweet and does a great job with dip manicures. I like that they provide cuticle care along with their dip manicures and that they provide good overall attention to detail. This past time I decided to treat myself to a pedicure as well since it was my bday weekend. Victoria did my pedi, and she was such a sweetheart! I chose one of the most basic options, and it was still one of the best pedicures I've had. I will continue to request Nikki and Victoria! To really highlight how much they care about their customers, I have to mention my appointment yesterday! I get faint pretty easily, especially in the summer heat. Since I'm so close to the salon, I walked here for my appointment. I was very hot and could tell I was on the verge of fainting (even while sitting in my seat). I have been bee bopping around town to many different nail salons since I lost my usual salon several years ago. Ulux has never let me down. Not only is the customer service wonderful, they also do an excellent job on my nails (hands and feet). Ulux was one of the first salons I went to when nails salons were allowed to open last year after the pandemic. They have always been sanitary, but went beyond other salons. To this day, you still have to wash your hands when you arrive and wear your facemask. The only thing that can be tricky is the parking. Its street parking in uptown and they have a small lot in the back. However, out of all the times I have been I think maybe three times I had to park kind off the beaten path. The techs that work here are very skilled, friendly and their nail equipment is sterilized. They also have a lot of different colors and styles to choose, and a wonderful menu of different pedicures they offer. It appears this charming nail salon is my new forever home. *hearts* read more

I have been here a few times and in general they do a fine job ( I do think they're overpriced though) but what makes me want to give them a one star review is the fact that my friend got me a gift card for this location and I went to redeem it today and they said that I can't. Maybe this was my mistake but I told them my friend got me the gift card in September 20 24 and immediately the receptionist told me that it's past the expiry date without even looking up the gift card details. I then proceeded to tell him that this was not disclosed to my friend when she was purchasing the gift card.(she did it over the phone because she lives in a different city.) for some reason he was absolutely positive that this was disclosed to my friend but obviously that's nonsense since he clearly didn't even know what gift card I was talking about. overall just really poor and unprofessional customer service and now my friends money goes to waste. Six months for a gift card is absolutely ridiculous- I could understand if it was a coupon but this is a service someone paid for already before hand. Extremely disappointed in my nail experience with Ulux spa. Within 24 hours of getting my gel manicure I had over 4 of my nails chipped and not to mention my thumb nail had the entire gel come off. The gel seemed like it wasn't dry and was not properly applied. Before writing this review I went in to have them fix this polish and although they did offer to fix it they couldn't fit me in this morning so I left feeling frustrated and annoyed. My second time here reminded me why I stopped getting gel nails for years - it's so hard to find a careful nail tech! despite asking the nail tech to be careful about filing since I have thin nails, she filed them down so thin! They're half the thickness they were when I walked in! My cuticles look messy. When I brought that up, she told me "I'll apply oil so you can't see them" ... I'll see them once I wash my hands. Otherwise, the receptionist was so kind and constantly checked on us while we waited. Thomas did my dip manicure with pointy almond tips and I love them! I did two coats of Funny Bunny and one coat of Chrome powder (the Hailey Bieber nails). He was incredibly thorough and made sure that I liked the shape. He was very detail oriented and took time to make sure my nails turned out just how I wanted. My pedicurist was also very thorough and did an especially good job on cuticle cleanup! I came the third time with my sis and we absolutely fell in love with our nails! We walked in knowing what color we wanted and we were able to find the exact color. A lot of nail salons do not have a wide range of regular nail polish but Ulux nails has a huge selection! 10/10 for service! My nail lady name was Mary. She was super sweet and made sure I was satisfied with each step of the process. I had some specific requests and she killed it! I got purple matte nails and I love the shape, color and how well she cleaned up my cuticles. The ladies there sometimes speak in their own language but they were thoughtful to let us know what they were talking about bc I know some customers may feel like they are talking about them. I've gotten my nails done for years (I used to do acrylic and now I do dip powder), but I never get manicures. Now that I've had the "signature" manicure at Ulux Nail Spa, I feel both enlightened and spoiled. I enjoyed a late morning appointment with two of my coworkers, and because we made an appointment we were able to sit together. Otherwise, I wouldn't expect Ulux to be able to accommodate walk-in groups.. it was SO CROWDED on a Thursday at 11 am. Good for them for having such a bustling business and so many loyal customers! If I lived nearby I'd definitely be making appointments on the regular. The busy atmosphere and buzz of the building is part of the fun. You select your color first, of course. But since I had recently gotten my nails done, I skipped the painting portion this round. The signature manicure starts with a sea salt scrub of your hands and arms, which are then lathered in a moisturizing lotion-y mask, then wrapped up all cozy in hot towels. Really hot! It feels soooo good and it's kinda nice not being able to use your hands for a solid 10 minutes. You can't scroll on your phone in an idle moment. You're forced to just sit there for a sec, no hands, smelling delicious, feeling super comfy.. Especially comfy since we sat in massage chairs!! I know. It was an unexpected and wonderful surprise to me too. And you still get an arm and shoulder massage as part of the manicure! With hot stones. Again... really hot! For the massage, you get to choose a scented Shea butter lotion. I chose the coffee cappuccino (I smelled like a delicious cafe), and my coworkers went with minty cucumber and some CBD lotion. Based on my friend's rave review of the CBD's calming effects, I'm definitely trying that one next time!! It's nice and bright and clean at Ulux. The salon is set up in a cute old house, so it all feels very intimate and charming and trendy. The staff was kind and attentive despite juggling a large and demanding crowd. All around a really enjoyable experience and I hope I get invited to many more Dallas manicure dates. read more

Really tried to give this place a chance since it came highly reviewed by a few of my friends but there are too many nail salons in Dallas for me to give this place a 2nd chance. Place is cozy cause it's in a restored house. Nothing fancy about it. People were friendly and welcoming. I came in for a dip manicure and a classic pedicure. The guy that did my pedicure wasn't good period. The shaping was sloppy and when I asked him to fix it he didn't want to file it and just cut my toes shorter. Thankfully the manicurist that did my nails was nice enough to try and fix it. I loved my manicure and design after I left. Shape was perfect and design was cute. Thought I found my new spot and was happy until 3 days later when one of my nails randomly popped off and then days later another nail broke. Mildly annoyed but thought it was just these 2 nails that needed fixing. After going to the salon twice in an attempt to fix it I thought all was good. Days later more nails popped off. Three one day and another the next day. Never in my years have I had dipped nails pop off like press on nails. In less than 2 weeks 5 nails have popped off and 1 broke. Didn't even bother going back to get them fixed because I shouldn't have to go back to a salon twice to fix a $70 manicure. Like I said before too many salons in Dallas to give this one a try again. read more

My girlfriends and I were in town and we came here because it was recommended by a friend. The only reason why they are getting two stars is because all three of our pedicures were stellar. We each received a dip manicure and the standard pedicure. We were here on Tuesday, June 14. I get dip manicures on a a monthly basis and this is by far my worst experience. The nail tech filed them shorter than I wanted. I asked which dip had the true color match regular polish for the pedicure and we were told the OPI. So we all choose an OPI dip color and we were lied to. None of them had a true color match. I left with my manicure looking messy and unpolished. I had dip powder all over my cuticles. I had to ask for cuticle oil before I left because of how dry it was (see picture 2 of the pink nails). My friend had a chip in her nails within 48 hours (see picture 3 of the coral nails). And my other friend, in less than one week had her polish completely break (see picture one of the pink and gold nail). For the $43 price tag we got completely ripped off. And to top it off, the place needs a little cleaning. The plant on the front desk hasn't been dusted in probably a year. I truly think we received awful service because we are from out of town, but to me it just shows how they treat their customers. We will never be back and I told told our friend who recommended this place to stop going. The only thing about our manicures that we liked was the shape.
