This was such a cool lighthouse! For $8 you can get a tour of the lighthouse and the museum, and you even get to go to the top of the lighthouse and stick your head up in the lens. Our tour guide today was Ryan and he was fantastic! He was very personable and knew so much about the lighthouse and its history. We stayed one night here recently. The campsites are really in 3 levels. We ended up with a site in the small middle yurt section, and happy we did. The sites in the lower loop seemed fairly tight with limited privacy. The upper loop seemed a bit more private. Lots of shade throughout, facilities were clean (no dump station). We took the Lake Marie loop trail that evening. There seemed to be a few trees down recently, but the trail itself was in pretty good shape. You could also take the trail away from the lake to the dunes. Speaking of those, they're definitely close enough that the sounds of the buggies often reverberated through the entire campground into the night. It didn't keep us up, but it did affect the serenity of the lake. read more

We had a great time looking at the lighthouse gift shop. We did not realize they had all kinds of cookies, coffees, and chocolates. They had the most delicious white chocolate sea salt caramels. The milk chocolate caramels were also delicious. They also had these big clusters of nuts and chocolate, which my husband adores. Of course, we fell for the gimmick of a gift shop. Gifts for family were coffee mugs that said lighthouse on them, or keychains. But we also found a very Incredible Raincoat that was necessary for that trip that was only $42. That's a great price for what I got. Our vacation was covered in a horrible rain storm with wind and thunder. That raincoat was quite a blessing. It didn't break the bank. The people there were super nice and I would definitely go back on our next trip. read more

We stayed at the campground this past weekend (February). Although it was cloudy, rainy, and windy, the campground was pretty empty and enjoyable. We booked a cabin site, which was simple and cozy. The cabin has two beds, two chairs, and one table. That's it. Just the essentials for sleeping. It does have an electric heater which was perfect for this time of the year. Our friends slept in the cabin, while my wife and I decided to sleep in the tent. The campsite also had a bench and a campfire ring. We had to move the bench in order to fit our tent, but it worked out. The campground has a trail that loops around Lake Marie, which is nice if you want to walk around and take in the beautiful landscape. You could also walk to the light house if you'd like, but we chose to drive instead. The bathrooms near our site were very clean, stocked, heated, and well lit with running water. There were also showers available. I'm not sure how crazy it gets during the warmer months, but we definitely enjoyed our stay and would come back another time. They also have some "deluxe" yurts for rent, which have a TV, their own shower, and other cool things for a more comfortable stay. Maybe we'll try one of those out next time! read more

Reedsport, Or. Wow. What a great little get away. Would be perfect except this is a sand dune mecca, and the droning distant noise from the various sand vehicles without mufflers is constant. The Yurts are really an exercise in glamping. Everything you might want, except the TV's are worthless. Bring all your own bedding and toiletries too. The bed situation is much better than a cot, and the rubber covered mattress was a bit strange. I slept well however. The camp ground hosts apparently make side money selling firewood. This makes it easy to have all the wood you might need for your fire pit. Our view of the lake was astounding. The walk around the lake is beautiful. The rainbow trout in the lake are about ten inches long. They weren't hitting on flies or lures but liked cheese, power eggs and marshmallows. I wasn't there to bait fish, just catch and release so my haul for the weekend was zero. Hot water showers!! Bring your own towels. Secure door locks. Easy walk to the yurts. read more

Informative Tour and Museum My son , his girlfriend , and I did the lighthouse tour and museum . It is $8 a person and I recommend it . The tour guide was very informative about the history and things I didn't know about like the Japanese sending Balloon Bombs to the U.S. during WW II . The lighthouse glass has a red signal and the story of why is cool . The climb is not hard . The museum has a very good display of life in the Coast Guard at this station with lots of things to look at . It is definitely worth going to see . The town of Reedsport is a neat little town and access to the beach is not far . The parking at the beach is $5 and we were told by the guide to make sure you pay because they will write you a ticket quickly . The beach was cool and the waves were coming in pretty hard that day due to a storm off the coast . read more

This lighthouse, museum, gift shop and snack bar were a wonderful part of our Oregon adventure. Mike was our guide and had lots of interesting facts to share in a comfortable, easy to listen to manner. The museum was well stocked with artifacts and information. The gift shop had many, many things to purchase for gifts and memories, including chocolates from Portland. My husband enjoyed a delicious hot mocha. Next day, we rode up and got an amazing clam chowder in a sour dough bread bowl and a hot chai with almond milk. Delicious! read more

We had a LOVELY night here in December and vowed to come back for a 'real' camping trip. The yurt was so much fun for our family.... Bathroom with toilet and shower (byo towels and soap etc.) Kitchen was equipped with sink, fridge and microwave making this a true glamping trip. We didn't hang out at the campground for long but if we had, we might have used the covered grill, fire pit, or just enjoyed the view of the river. There was even a TV!! (We didn't try it out) LOTS to do in the area including lighthouse tour, atving (seasonal) or, if you're like my kids, running up and down sand dunes. If you're someone who is organized enough to book campgrounds 6+ months in advance, consider this spot as I'm sure it gets popular! read more

The Park includes an excellent campground, lighthouse, and museum. The lighthouse tour we had was very fun and interesting. The guide had more information than I can remember, but it was all good. We learned about the surrounding area as we saw it from the perch where the lighthouse stands. Then we viewed it from the outside as we learned about its history. (Even though it stands on very solid rock, the federal government, in their special and incompetent way, made them dig a place for a concrete foundation. We went inside and climbed the stairs to the light at the top. Fascinating! The museum was also very interesting with its history of the area and its re-creation of what the early quarters were for the lighthouse and life-saving staff. read more

This lighthouse is rather unique, being that it is located inland from a large jetty and beach area, so driving to the lighthouse feels as if you are heading the wrong way. Fortunately, the lighthouse is up no a bluff, overlooking the sanddune recreation area. Plenty of parking is available; we backed our RV into one of the spots and enjoyed a fantastic view out over the ocean, while enjoying our lunch. The lighthouse is surrounded by government structures, so it is not as picturesque as some of the other coastal lighthouses. From what I understood, they were not offering lighthouse tours during our visit, due to Covid. The museum was open, however, and had some great details about the history of the area. We really enjoyed the gift shop. Right around the corner is a State Park campground, as well as a number of recreational areas. The site is off the main highway, so plan to explore town along the way and find some delicious fresh seafood just off the boats. The highlight of our visit was getting to watch the Coast Guard helicopter practice sea rescues - a number of jumpers were dropping into the surf and getting hoisted back onboard; looked like a lively day for the new recruits! read more

Gary was a wonderful tour guide and so friendly. He was very informative, sharing historic stories and processes of the early years. The tour takes about 40 minutes and the cost is $8 which includes a self-guided tour of the lighthouse museum and sleeping quarters. Although the tour guides do not expect tips, they definitely deserve them. The time they put in and the knowledge they share is very valuable and should be appreciated. We spent a night at one of the deluxe yurts... it's really cool! Take a look at my photos to get the best idea... the yurt is like deluxe camping. It's also like a simple motel room, but you bring the sleeping bags or blankets and all your "camping" needs. You'll sleep with the sounds of the Umpqua fog horn off in the distance! The yurt is really nice and has lots of quality touches. It comes with cool outside areas too. You can cookout, there was a Weber gas grill at our yurt and a simple fire ring on the ground. No old school phone or TV, but you do get a DVD player and screen. Cell signal was good. The Reedsport Safeway is your friend. Total bill for one night, $88 It was very clean and well kept. The people who run the campsite are very pro. Be sure to see the lighthouse, night time is great! Also don't miss The Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area, which a short drive away, and, the Elkton Oregon Butterfly Pavilion (during Summer) which is over east of the yurts, near I-5. Both are way cool mannnnn! read more

The gift shop has the best Clam chowder it's the best. Take out or eat in bread bowl or quart. Most of the gifts look to be from China

If you can get a deluxe yurt do it! Bathroom, shower, fridge, microwave, sinks, heat. The rustic yurts are great too, heated and comfy, just smaller and without the other amenities. The campground itself is relatively small, which I like. The hosts were so nice and helpful, thanks Ed and Deb. Justin, the ranger, was also great. The facilities are clean and well taken care of. There's firewood available for purchase but I think that's it; no campground store. Town is less than 10 minutes away if you need provisions. There's so much to do here and nearby. There's a walk around the little lake here. You can check out the lighthouse (go at night!), and the dunes are just a few minutes away. If your blessed with some sun in the sky, try to catch the sunset. I'd definitely return. read more

I love this campground! Such friendly hosts and campers, it's quiet with lots of trees and grass. Spacious sites. The bathrooms are being remodeled so they set up temporary bathroom/showers and the hot water feels great after days on the road. Mid June and there's still lots of sites open, including some yurts, tent sites and hook up sites. Highly recommend this area! read more

Take this from a non-camper (yes....I was born and raised in Oregon, but I love beds, toilets, running water and sleeping inside) so let me tell you how "happy" I was when my much loved in-laws booked us all in "yurt" in Southern Oregon--- in January. I pictured, cold, damp linens, pouring down rain. First...a yurt sounds like a disease. Blame MY lack of knowledge on lack of research. Second...Oregon is wet in January. Third....EVERYTHING is damp in Oregon from October-May. So imagine my pleasant surprise upon discovering an airtight living space, bunk beds and sleeping pads, a covered patio, a crazy nice gas BBQ, a fridge, heat, running water and we had the deluxe yurt...so a TOILET and a SHOWER. I had the time of my life. We walked for MILES on the beach that was a mere mile away, walked the river loop (out our back door), had fires every night, ate crazy good seafood and BBQ'd meals, slept like babies in our heated yurt, met fun people at local "hot spots" (Double D's on the Rocks!), watched sunsets that boggled our minds...this non-camper was SOLD. I saw children biking the park, the lighthouse is around the corner, camp host was helpful...ALL good! Things to know: the raccoons are feisty. Bring coolers in at night! We went in January so many local fish shops/restaurants were closed. I was SO looking forward to fresh seafood! No oven, but a WONDERFUL bbq. Turn the heat down at night LOW...it gets TOASTY in there! Don't be fooled by "no walls"! You DO hear ATV/dune buggy noise quite often. Bring earplugs or a noise machine if you are a light sleeper and you like to sleep past 9:00am. The best coffee we could find in Reedsport was Back to the Best. Research....there could be better, but they were nice and it was good coffee. McKay's...not so much. read more

Tours are 10:00am to 4:00pm, we showed up at 3:59 and asked if we could still tour the lighthouse, GRUMPY Man behind the counter said NO, we're open tomorrow at 10am, I said we're traveling through and could not come tomorrow...he didn't care. Gorgeous campgrounds that are well maintained and optimally located for whale watching and ocean go'ers. Camp hosts are super friendly and interested in keeping this wonderful destination a special place to return to. It is an escape from the brutal world that most of us city dwellers know too well. Please leave your stress behind if you visit! Camp out or splurge on a deluxe yert... $65 and it's cheaper than a hotel room and smells much better! Enjoy the olfactorgasms of pine, campfires and ocean air. Attractions include a lovely lighthouse, woods, whales, water, harbor, fishermen, lovely locals that smile constantly. Stayed in a rustic yurt #16 pet friendly. It is the closest one to the parking lot which means you hear everybody parking and whatnot, but also means its less far to drag your stuff. Pretty nice digs. The beds are hard, but not the worst. You certainly can double up a mattress if you need to make one more squish if only a couple in there. The heater keeps the place warm and having the bathroom/shower is great. Same with having a fridge & sink/microwave. I'd like to come back again in the winter. I don't think I'd want to come in the summer as the yurts are extremely close together and I would imagine VERY noisy during the summer with kids playing outside. They don't offer much privacy so be prepared to listen to your neighbors guitar playing and kids running about. There didn't seem like there was a whole lot to do in the area. Needed to make a quick drive to Reedsport or Florence. Very pleasant otherwise and staff seemed nice. read more

What a beautiful campground. The site I had (yurt, but not a deluxe), was just secluded enough, but close to the bathrooms and the trail to the lake. The yurt was clean, all the lights worked, and I had plenty of room. The camp hosts were very friendly, as were the other guests. The lake is a beautiful walk, but bring your bug spray for sure. The lighthouse was a nice perk to see. Cons, but not the park's fault: The surrounding area, if you're not going to the Dunes, is pretty...bleh. read more

My family has made it a tradition to stay in the deluxe yurts along with friends, extended family, etc for the last 5 or so years and I always look forward to it ! The yurts have 2 large futons that can sleep 2 people each, and a bunk bed that can sleep 2 people on the bottom and 1 person on the top. You can sleep 7 people for $90 a night! And it's awesome they have a couple pet friendly yurts so our dog can come as well every year. I don't really consider this camping, but if you were to consider it camping, it's very glorified. There is a shower, toilet, tv with DVD player, and kitchen in the yurts. Very hassle free camping! We have never had a problem in all the years we have stayed. The park care givers are also very nice. We forgot an ax this year and they let us borrow theirs l. Also, my aunts car battery died and they had a portable jumper they let her use. Also, don't forget to tour the lighthouse during the day AND look at the lighthouse at night!! It is truly the prettiest lighthouse I have ever seen. Would for sure recommend this place! read more

I made a quick stop on my way back to California. The view was beautiful and there are guided tours through the lighthouse. It's not far from the main road, maybe a mile or two, but definitely worth the stop. No other visitors were there when I arrived around 9:30, but they gathered quickly. read more
