Eel Lake is in the William M.Tugman State Park. It is also the deepest lake in the chain of lakes along the Oregon Coast and is approximately 355 total acres. Wonderful fishing opportunities here with large mouth black bass, crappie, rainbow trout, steelhead, and co-ho salmon. Other water activities include swimming, canoeing, kyacking, sailing, and boating. There is also a 6 mile moderate trail ( Eel Lake Trail) that will take you along the beautiful Lake where you may encounter deers, and even be lucky enough to see an eagle. Enjoy !

The sites in the lower loop seemed fairly tight with limited privacy. The upper loop seemed a bit more private. Lots of shade throughout, facilities were clean (no dump station). We took the Lake Marie loop trail that evening. There seemed to be a few trees down recently, but the trail itself was in pretty good shape. You could also take the trail away from the lake to the dunes. Speaking of those, they're definitely close enough that the sounds of the buggies often reverberated through the entire campground into the night. It didn't keep us up, but it did affect the serenity of the lake.

The owners of the Marina spoke to us as if we were already guilty of destroying their jet skis and THEN when it was time to return the jet ski's, the owner made us ride the jet ski's up to the dock while screaming CLOSER, CLOSER, CLOSER, the jet ski hit the dock. So they charged us an extra $100 because of a scratch that they made us do!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! NEVER RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!! JUST DESPERATE FOR MONEY!!

Spots to fish and BBQ, launch non-motorized boats - great park! But unfortunately, it's frequently a camping spot for transients. And while not all transients are bad, we have experienced some that are on drugs, yelling, riding bikes at uncomfortably fast speeds, or just spitting and yelling at passersby. There was even a blunt sitting on an empty park bench. Which, shouldn't be an issue as marijuana is legal in this state, however, not only would someone not know what it's laced with, there are frequently children walking in that park and might come across it. If I didn't have my two dogs and my protector husband with me, you wouldn't catch me alone in that park ever. But with my bodyguards and always being alert and choosing my path wisely, I have some of the most amazing walks there!

I am on a 5 week road trip/camping trip with my kids and we have been camping all over the PNW and CA. This has been my favorite stop of the trip and had I known it was going to be this magical, I would've booked a week instead of 3 days. The check in process was amazing. They give you the code and you go to your Yurt which is away from everyone else at the campground. You have your own little dock, backyard, outdoor cooking area, sunroom with a shower, and the Yurt itself is like a home/suite-like hotel room but in a Yurt. After a long day of driving, being able to just go to your room and walk right in, especially with young kids in the car, is such an added bonus. I've literally felt like I've had the place to myself these last few days and it's heavenly. Being away from it all means my kids aren't bothering anyone when they're out playing at 6:00 in the morning, and we've been sleeping like logs by 9:00 because it's so quiet --aside from the relaxing sound of water and birds. I'm pretty sure this is my new favorite place. It's so much better than the website depicts and I am absolutely staying here again. I imagine this place books up rather quickly. I got lucky and booked it 7 months ago with no problems. You can kayak (included) to Siltcoos lake OR the ocean. The added gate to keep kids in and away from the dock is such a thoughtful touch and kept my anxiety at bay knowing my twins wouldn't wander off.

GOOD: This is a nice park with plenty of amenities. Unlike many Oregon State Parks, the sites are…read morewell separated and offer some sense of privacy. There's a small sand beach on the lake, a playground, lots of open spaces and some trails. The lake has a 10mph speed limit so you don't have to suffer from the wakeboard/ski crowd and their blaring stereos competing for whose music is least bad. ATVs aren't allowed to operate there either so it stays mostly quiet. BAD: To no fault of the park, it is at the base of a grade on Hwy 101 and so the noise of trucks (and the cosplaying 'look at me' guys on Harley's) climbing and Jake braking while descending the hill really makes relaxing outside when it's otherwise quiet difficult to impossible. You can hear the louder ATV's on the dunes to the west too. The weekdays are especially bad for trucks. As you've probably gathered, I like my outdoors quiet, so if you're a party camper who makes noise, this noise probably just fine and this would be a 5 star park. If you like quiet, then 3.
