I went to UNV on Thursday the 30th to renew my tax I gave him my drivers license I gave my old registration. They charged me $235. I get home and I realize that I was eligible for the P tag went back. They tell me that well it's my responsibility to ask for it. They don't Just give it to anybody. I said I gave you my drivers license you saw I was eligible. why didn't you ask me or give it to me? I was told well we don't do that after some back-and-forth. I did get my money back and my tags only cost me $39 instead of $235, piss poor customer service on this one read more

I was prompted to write this review based on seeing another Yelp friend having written one... thanks Nathan B! We have utilized DMV Express a few times for license plates and registrations. Our son is prior Marine Corp and last year we went to DMV Express to get his Veteran Plates and registration for his new truck. The process was fairly quick and the gal assisting us was extremely polite and helpful. We ended up getting VA plates for ourselves as well. Keep in mind, it's much quicker to use DMV Express and at this point, I believe you can do just about everything there, including getting your ADL, but you are going to pay extra for anything that you do. The charge not only the AK DMV prices but they have to make money for their services also. They asked us if we wanted our registration laminated and we said 'sure', only to find out at the end while we were paying for everything, it was an additional $5 tacked on. We learned our lesson with that one and declined the next time we went in. I guess that's right up there with adding guacamole to your burrito, it costs extra and some people just won't care. Personally, I'm willing to always pay extra for guacamole! All in all, we will continue to go there if it's not something we can take care of online. The wait is usually minimal and nothing compared to the wait at the DMV, especially since there are fewer of them available to us these days. read more

Interesting. This place actually calls itself the UMV. Think YOU MV where the focus is on offering excellent customer service. So this is not the DMV but it does everything a DMV does. Maybe for a little bit more money. We needed to drop off a slip saying we had traded in our car and the title was signed over. All we had to do was drop off the paper. For this, it cost me $2. I asked if it would cost anything at the DMV and I received a pretty cryptic answer. I got the feeling that it wouldn't have cost anything. But two bucks is pretty cheap to get an errand completed in the weekend when the DMV is closed. read more

So, initially, I took my driver's test at the DMV but I forgot my passport at the house. Called up the UMV to see if the test scores could be pulled up there. They said yes, and so I stopped by. I couldn't believe how fast it was! It took me less than 5 minutes to get everything done. Granted, you pay a bit more, but in my honest opinion, it's %100 worth it! The staff is friendly too, which is always pleasant when dealing with DMV stuff. read more

Jordan was the employee that helped my grandmother with the things that she needed to renew. He provided such a warm welcoming experience and really made my grandmother light up with joy. The process was extremely easy and we were in and out under ten minutes! The help Jordan provided was excellent and really made the difference. It's never nice to be taken advantage of, or to find out you might have been if you would not have left. That's my opinion of this business. Today I went into the company's office on Northern Lights Boulevard seeking a very simple transaction, a renewal of a photo identification card. The business was charging me a convenience fee of $25, plus a fee for the card. It seemed a little too expensive, so I left and went online later in the day to see what the cost would be. I found out that I could renew the state identification card for free. I did it, no cost, not one penny. The gentleman behind the counter seemed quite relaxed carrying out what I consider theft, smiling, calm, no problem whatsoever charging an outlandish $25 fee for a service that I received at not cost from the Alaska DMV online portal. At the time I was in the office there was another customer who expressed her outrage at the fees they were being charged for a service. My advice is to call Alaska DMV or go online to see if you can get the services you need from the state agency. I wont't be going back to this company anytime soon. read more
