Ah the gratuitous annual dreaded 'Change Over' from studs to normal for Spring/Summer LOL! Done! They always take care of us and we took our car on a Saturday and left it and went shopping at the 5th Ave Mall. They have awesome prices on tires, basically everything and it's really awesome when you buy your tires and they attach the rebate form for like $50 or $100 of your tire purchase to send in. I asked for a recommendation of where to go. They said here ! I called : No appointment req. She dropped by. Based on the pictures my wife sent of the dragging parts I estimated 300-350, ( I've paid for s lot of exhaust welding ) They gave her 325 cost! I took my car into Muffler city, for a water pump issue. When they installed it, they overtightened the pulley (as explained to me by another mechanic). This resulted in the pulley self destructing. I attempted to contact Muffler City to resolve this issue, and they informed me that I could bring it by, and they would look at it. This wouldn't work for me, as my car was not drivable, my mechanic had already pulled out the buster parts. Muffler City informed me that the best they could do is have me bring the parts back, and give me a new one. This option also did not work for me, I'd already purchased the new parts, and at this point I just wanted a refund. They told me under no uncertain terms that I would no be getting any cash back. THEIR mechanic had screwed up my car, and they refused to do anything meaningful to fix it. I 1000% would discourage anyone from frequenting these guys. Your service may go off without a hitch, but if something goes wrong, they're happy to leave you dead in the snow. read more

My husband and I have gone to Muffler City for at least 20 years but I will never go again. The extreme rudeness is not justified at all by the work they do. I ordered a grill for my Tahoe and they claim that's one of the specialties - installing grills. Well, when they installed mine, its off-center. They were so rude to me during the ENTIRE transaction - on the phone, when I ordered my grill and then on the day they installed it. I was beyond through with talking to them by the end of it all and then they can't even install a simple grill correctly. I now have a little bit of work to do on my muffler and I would go ANYWHERE else to get this done. They are rude all day everyday, even to customers that have spent thousands at their shop. read more

I called this place last night to see if I could get a tire exchange. The guy said "we open at 8 and it's first come first serve, the earlier the faster you will get in". So I woke myself up along with my 5 children (my husband is deployed) at 7:00AM and got there at 7:30. There were already lots of people there with me being 8th in line (this was all before 8am) with a 4 hr wait. Needless to say I didn't get my tires changed out because I was lied to about the time of opening, if I would've know. They opened any earlier I would've been first in line because I know living in Alaska with no friends or family, 5 kids and a deployed husband I wouldn't be able to wait 4 hours. Thanks to them I am dangerously driving bald tires around in the snow with my children for practices and grocery shopping. read more

Muffler city has been my go to for all tire related problems for years. I am never disappointed!

I always feel horrible leaving negative reviews (who doesn't?) and in fact wanted to let the situation go and forget. But when after a series of unfortunate events dealing with the shop my breaks *completely* failed after just 1 year, I feel obligated to let the public know what happened. Muffler City did the whole breaks job for me in January 2014 and replaced rotors, calipers, pads, etc... for a total of $800-900 (don't remember exact price but it was in the range). 1) When I picked up my car after the job was completed, my break pedal was not functioning the way it used to and kept on going all the way down. When I took it back, they said my master cylinder was defective/old and had to be replaced in order for that pedal to work properly. They estimated $400 something on top dollars. I was shocked they gave me my car back with all breaks "supposedly" fixed without even saying something was wrong with my master cylinder. I thought the price was unreasonable, so I took it to another mechanic who said that Muffler City guys did not bleed my breaks properly (that's why the pedal was going down), which should have been done regardless of my master cylinder. He replaced my master cylinder and bleeded my breaks for $250 total. So that was on top of $800-900 paid to Muffler guy (Sean). Despite being upset, I let the situation go. 2) In April 2014 (4 months later), I started feeling significant shaking/pulsation in my steering wheel when breaking. I took it back to Muffler City. ...After reading a lot of online reviews on similar issue, I discovered that something must have been wrong with rotors. Well, Sean took a look at my car and came up with a multitude of reasons why it shook (very technical stuff which I felt was meant to confuse and scare me) and estimated the repairs as $450 saying he would be "giving me a deal" as otherwise it would have costed me $600. He didn't say anything about rotors needed to be resurfaced (which back then I didn't argue about due to lack of confidence on cars' stuff, but now I know it should be #1 common diagnosis - not a rocket science after all) . I was very upset with that fact they refused to take care of me, especially just after 4 months of spending a fortune on the break job they did. ....Out of desperation and lack of time (I was moving out of state - driving across Canada and further), I decided to take it to Midas, and guess what, they said the rotors had to be resurfaced. They did the job for $130, and my car stopped shaking right away. Again, I let the situation go... In January 2015 (1 year later) my steering wheel starts to shake again while breaking. Sadly at this point the rotors could not be resurfaced the 2nd time (that's what I learned from mechanics afterwards). I took my car to an honest family mechanic my friend referred me to in Philadelphia, and he said that unfortunately he has to replace the whole break system. He stated that the Muffler guys in Alaska put inferior quality rotors, and that's why they failed so fast. SUMMARY: On top of Issue 1), Muffler guy refused to take care of me when I brought my car back with a "shaking" issue 4 months later. He didn't admit that the actual problem was rotors needing to be resurfaced, but instead came up with multiple other reasons, which I felt was done in attempt to make more money off me. In addition, he did not give me a warranty of rotors he installed. On the contrary, the mechanic in PA gave me a receipt from NAPA for 12 months/12,000 miles warranty on my newly installed rotors (whichever comes first). So doing my business with Muffler City was quite a challenge - no responsibility they took for their work whatsoever! Yes, they were nice to my face but I didn't feel it was a genuine niceness in terms of helpfulness (obviously) but instead being nice to me as part of money making strategy to make me believe that I need all those additional repairs. So sad! Rotors should NOT last just 1 year, it is unheard of. They should last 3 years minimum with a quality part installed. I know I threw $800-900 into the air and IT SUCKS! :-( It may just be my experience, but I still wanted to share. read more

The people that work at this shop are not only a****** but idiots as well . They can't even do a simple alignment . Drove my truck in just fine, a few days before Christmas to get a new muffler installed and a simple alignment .When I drove home my left tire was pointed out not even straight and my truck was all over the road! Was scary. After waiting an hour and a half after my muffler install, The tech told me he couldn't do the alignment ,and he ended up aligning the right side of my truck,(which I didn't know until i had someone check it out) which caused stress on my rack and pinion and caused it to shred, and eventually fail. They claimed it was like that before ,and couldn't fix it back to the driveable possition it was in when I first took it in there! Which I had no problems ! When I took it back,they only made the problem worse. I had to have my dad drive my truck back home because it was too scary to drive .I had to spend 600 bucks to fix it . Money that I was going to use for a stereo. The only good thing I had done,was a muffler , but that was from someone that my nephew recommended to me that knew what he was doing. Never go to this shop if u want crap work and them not being held accountable for their screw ups. They will never own up to their mistakes. They cost me money,they lost my business,and business from all my friends as well. But then again,never get anything other then a muffler done at a muffler place. I had great experience at this place. As tourists during the summer, our rental car encountered a small incident on road that caused a dented rim. I searched on yelp, call them right away to replace rim and tire, they responded immediately and confirmed that they have the parts we needed in stock. The next day we bring our car there, they began working on it in less than 20mins. The most impressive thing to me is that they placed customers' interest above profit. After the inspection, the technician told me that the tire actually is still in one-piece and does not need to be replaced, which I gladly accepted and saved about ~100$. And the technician is very nice and examined the pressure of my other 3 tires. So a great experience for me being a first-time customer! I strongly recommended it. read more

I spent a bunch of time looking for new tires for my 1995 M3. BMW couldn't get a hold of them, nor could Costco. The tech at Costco recommended that I try giving Muffler City a call. They did a great job and I love the new tires. Excellent selection here of tires that both BMW and Costco couldn't sell me. I think they were reasonably priced too (but who knows for sure because no one else in town that I spoke with seemed to know where to get the tires). I generally like their work but today I found their pricing less than honest after telling me that they honor the military by offering 10% discount on 'wheels/rims'. My purchases today were primarily wheels and I confirmed their discount after dropping my vehicle off for the work needed. When I came to pick my vehicle up, they didn't want to honor the discount as I was told. The reason was arbitrary and deceptive, because apparently, the discounts were only for alloy/aluminum wheels/rims. Well, that is a nice bait and switch and lips service for 'honor the veterans'. I still like their work in general, but will instead split some work to Arctic Imports...I have found Arctic Imports to be decent and a straight shooter when it comes to pricing. read more

It is a pain to park there, you kinda have to pull in off of fourth and come in the back way, past rows of cars pointed the opposite way, very confusing. The reason they lost a star was that they were just too busy and didn't clearly explain that it was going to take literally all day for something that shouldn't take more than 2 hours. I had called a few places about getting an air brake light looked at and they wanted an appointment, to have the car left for a half a day to a day and $50-90 for a diagnosis and then they didn't have appointment times available for several days. This place said I could walk in, wait in the lobby for a diagnosis and had a very reasonable diagnosis charge. I took it in and they diagnosed it and gave me an estimate for repair. So far so good! We came here for an oil change and a rattling sound in our muffler. Turned out we had a hole in the muffler and it needed to be replaced. They completed everything very quickly and for a fair price. There was more work they could have done but they didn't try to convince us to spend unnecessary money for things that didn't need to be addressed right away. Very honest and pleasant to work with. ...This review is strictly based on my custom exhaust experiences...If you want good customer service try to avoid the older guy. I've been there twice dealing with him and he isn't the nicest guy to talk to. This last time I tried to completely avoid him and it worked out great. There are a few guys that are super nice and easy to work with. The one I talked to had longer hair and wasn't Caucasian. He priced up the custom 4 inch exhaust I wanted and the welder in the back did an awesome job. Make sure you tip him he doesn't cut corners. No other shop in town wanted to work on it. the first episode of poor service ocurred when original rims were not returned to me after the purchase of new rims were installed. The owners repeatedly tried to convince me i had been given them, which made me question my sanity. I was then informed by a previous employee that my old rims had been put on a family members car. It was indeed an awkward and unpleasant experience as anchorage is a small town and to be so flagrantly mistreated is beyond me. the second episode ocurred today. my nephew went to have tires swapped and when he refused to purchase new valve stems the guy dan refused to complete the work of tire swapping. we took the tires and valvestems to moore and sons who put the original stems in without issue. What a sad day in town when folks have to stoop to this pitiful level of shaking folks down for 50$. read more
