Our first time buying windows, we spoke to lots of folks, but couldn't ignore all the reviews we saw on Yelp. We are glad we didn't, as Turab was really the best, without any comparison. We had a budget, and he helped us keep to it, but he really went above and beyond that. Other vendors told us there was no way to keep the 130 year window moldings, but Turab not only helped us keep them, but had so many neat tricks to improve our restoration project. Other vendors just gave us offers against our project scope, but Turab explained to us the dynamics of different windows in different parts of the house and what types worked best and saved us money. He made custom moldings for our cellar windows. He also helped us out to stop a fly tipping incident one day when we were out and not able to deal with it ourselves. And when it was pouring with rain and our basement flooded, he went outside and took a really long and hard look and told us what the problem was. This may be my first Yelp review which I'm doing only because I liked Turab so much! I think he's already quite busy because his reviews are so deservedly great. He is so much better than the other company I tried first (who seemed totally incompetent and kind of sketchy) and the others I researched. For some reason, it's very hard to find a good window (and screen repair/install) repair person in NYC. Anyway, I found a great one in Turab. To be honest, scheduling was a bit of a process, presumably because he is in high demand. Unbeatable repairs consists of 1 person Turab. Turab is a detail oriented person that takes pride on his work. He does windows and that's his passion. Great personality with jovial mindset. We called 4 companies - all top notch companies. And decided to go with turab. We replaced approximately 18 windows in total with a partial renovation of the bow window. Now bow windows are naturally worth $10k+ but turab promised to change most of the windows and make it new. We also went with OKNA 500 windows. Upon research, these are top notch windows that turab has direct connections with a dealer. We put half the down payment and we were expecting the windows come in about 2 months. Turab came in 1 month with the brand new beautiful OKNA windows - stored in our garage. We could not be happier with the outcome. Most window companies rush to get the job done in about a week for this huge project. But turab takes his time- Meticulous and perfectionist. Insuring each window is perfect. Turab had a very competitive quote that smoked other competitors. We are also able to negotiate moldings for each window, blinds installation and front/storm door installations. Very fair quote that no other company can match! Now the negatives - turab sorry bud no one is perfect lol. However, perfectionist are never satisfied and takes his time to make everything perfect. Like Picasso - it takes time to make a masterpiece. Project took about a month. And at times - turab had to yield some days to check out his other jobs. At times, odd working hours - 10 hour shift or 6 hour shifts. Varies. If you have the patience and want an excellent masterpiece - Turab is your guy. I would call him for future projects. So two years later, we called Turab to help us with a drafty front door situation. Two of my rental's Andersen casement windows in Brooklyn had been difficult or impossible to open/close using the handle since I moved in May 2020. Back then, Turab was upfront in informing me he was busy for the next 2 weeks. My landlord ended up delaying the repair indefinitely after another larger windows contractor insisted on coming by to check out the issue before quoting a prohibitively high price. Finally i lost my patience with the kitchen window and reached out to Turab again. My landlord accepted the quote ("much more reasonable") and 2 days later, my windows were fixed with new operators, handles, and handle covers. He stuck to the quote he gave based on text & photos of the issue. The work was completed efficiently and he gave me some education on the parts. As a bonus - I asked if he could check out the problematic doorknob on our main door as I could tell he knows what he is doing with a screwdriver. In just 5 min he was able to get it working regularly again. Couldn't be happier with Rob's repair! Broke my window trying to open it and he came the very next day to UWS/Central Park West area. He had excellent communication from the time I contacted him to when he arrived at my place. Price ended up being lower than his max estimate which was already super reasonable compared to other quotes I had received from Yelp. Since he didn't have the exact part that would fit the length of my window, he used a replacement part that would be just as stable and secured it so that the same issue wouldn't happen again and I think because of that it took longer than he expected. Initial Estimate: I reached out to Turab on Yelp on getting an estimate done on getting a window replacement for the entire house including a sliding door. I didn't want him coming out all this way out by me because I was on the further end of his service area, so I told him that if he has a job in the area he can drop by and give me an estimate since I wasn't in a rush. We were able to schedule something a week later and he came out to give me an estimate. He came by towards the evening time to accommodate his work schedule and also my schedule and after looking over the windows all around the house ( 19 windows ). He told me that they were still in very good condition and that I should still have atleast 10 or more years on the my current windows. I told him my concerns were mainly drafts around the windows, but when we looked all around it, it was because the top windows on several were partially open. (It helped that it was still cold outside). I also had screens are damaged on several of the windows and he told me he could repair those as well. My sliding door was hard to open and close and he told me that it just needed an adjustment to be made. After the walk through he gave me an estimate on getting all the windows replaced with similar type windows that I currently have and also gave me an estimate on getting them repaired by replacing all the balances on all the windows and also fixing the sliding door including the screen door. After it was done, I told him that I'm getting estimates from several other companies before making a decision and he was totally cool with it. The process was nice in that he wasn't pushing me to get new windows all around and gave me an option of getting it fixed or replaced. He also answered my questions and concerns. Scheduling Work/ Work Completion Scheduling time to get the work done took a bit. I was only really available on Saturday and over the month of May, it's been raining every weekend. Also since I'm getting all the windows repaired including my sliding door, the day where it's raining all day would not have worked. The first two weekends, we got rained out and we were finally able to schedule something for 5/20. He told me he's going to bring an extra person to help him get the job done as quickly and efficiently as possible. Turab messaged me saying that he should be arriving around 10:30am. He got to the house at 11am ( Coming from staten island to ridgefield nj ). He started the work as soon as he walked in with Wally and started taking apart the windows apart after they had all the replacement parts and tools set. The job finished by 6-6:30pm and now all the windows close and open properly. They don't slide down by themselves anymore and actually stays up. All the damaged screens are repaired and the sliding door is nice and smooth. Overal, Turab and Wally were both professional and personable. Work was completed in the time that he said it would take. (entire day). He also did it in the price of the estimate, nothing more. At the end when I went to pay Turab, He gave me a discount and told me that it was a baby shower gift ( I have a baby on the way).
