After having another company do a horrible job on my windows, I was frustrated and honestly just wanted the problem fixed the RIGHT way. Yuri and Ivan came out on Monday, assessed everything, explained what needed to be done, and were back on Wednesday ready to work. Other companies were telling me the job could take 5-6 days -- these guys got it done beautifully in ONE DAY, without sacrificing quality. And let me be completely honest -- I know I can be a pain . I ask a million questions, I pay attention to everything, and I come with a sense of humor that may not be everyone's cup of tea. Yuri and Ivan handled me like champs! They were patient, sweet, kind, respectful, professional, and just genuinely good people to work with. Their work was clean, professional, efficient, and beautifully done. But what really impressed me? When they finished, they cleaned everything up without me even having to ask! Anyone who has dealt with contractors knows how much that means. These guys WORK. Daria was a wonderful initial point person and stayed in touch throughout the process by phone and text. Vova came out for the initial assessment and measurements, and he was patient, kind, and really listened to what I needed. The initial estimate was more than I could afford, and I thought I'd have to contact several other companies for bids. Oliver worked with me to bring the price closer to my budget, and I was able to skip that exercise. I also decided to handle the glazing and weatherstripping myself. Michael and Ivan came to do the work, and they were thorough, quick, and resourceful. These are very old windows, and they encountered some obstacles along the way, but they figured things out and did an excellent job. They also cleaned up beautifully and left the area cleaner than when they arrived. Everyone I dealt with was kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. The workmen's primary language is Ukrainian, so their English was sometimes limited, but this was easily handled because there was always someone in the office available to communicate with both of us in either Ukrainian or English. I've had plenty of experience with workmen whose first language isn't English, so this wasn't an issue for me. I also really appreciated the way the company combines technology with personal communication. Everything is handled efficiently, but you never feel like you're being left to deal with technology on your own. There was always a real person keeping in touch. The entire team is Ukrainian, which was particularly meaningful to me as an East Village resident and a Veselka old timer. I was very happy to support them. This is the way business should be done. We had a budget, and he helped us keep to it, but he really went above and beyond that. Other vendors told us there was no way to keep the 130 year window moldings, but Turab not only helped us keep them, but had so many neat tricks to improve our restoration project. Other vendors just gave us offers against our project scope, but Turab explained to us the dynamics of different windows in different parts of the house and what types worked best and saved us money. He made custom moldings for our cellar windows. He also helped us out to stop a fly tipping incident one day when we were out and not able to deal with it ourselves. And when it was pouring with rain and our basement flooded, he went outside and took a really long and hard look and told us what the problem was. We got it fixed the same weekend and never had issues since.
