Faruk is very honest and a stand up guy. Faruk came by to inspect my large double paned sliding windows, as I suspected a draft from weather stripping that needed to be replaced. After taking a look, he said that the weather stripping was fine and needed to be cleaned They were very matted down with dust. He also said that adding additional adhesive stripping (something I can do myself) where the window closes, to cover any gaps would help solve my draft issue. He did not charge me for his time and advice and did not try to upsell me any unnecessary services. I would trust him to do any window work if I ever I need any in the future. read more

The mesh came off the bottom of one of our window screens, and I contacted a few places for a quote. The places who replied with a quote told me $60 and $75 and up, respectively. Vila Window & Glass didn't provide a quote, but said that "the technician needs to see it before they can quote you. I recommend you bring it to our office, we are open Monday through Saturday.". I brought the screen in, and the technician said that he may be able to repair it right away, and that if he needed to replace the mesh it would be $25, i.e. $35-50 less than the other quotes I got. Luckily the technician was able to put the mesh back in place without replacing it. Not only did he do it right away, not only it took him less than 5 minutes to do it, but also he did it for free, and refused to be tipped. That's some extraordinary customer service. Earlier this week I called Vila around 11 am and requested emergency service for an Anderson window that I had somehow jammed open, perhaps broken while cleaning the panes.. Farouk told me he was at a Manhattan job until 4 and would come to Park Slope after. That he did! Exactly as promised! So exceptionally reliable and prompt service from the very beginning. While here, with an assistant standing by, Farouk quickly and efficiently got the window closed. He spent no more than 3 minutes on the the task. No charge! He understood it had felt like an emergency to me, with the dreadfully hot day and my inability to figure out what I had done. He was so kind in his manner. Then he patiently took the time to show me how the window works and how to tilt the panes inward, so as to clean them. I had long forgotten how to do that. He showed me twice, just so I could be sure to follow the process. No charge! In fact, many years ago when the windows were first installed and I had attempted to tilt them in for cleaning, I accidentally removed them entirely from the frame. Back then another Vila worker came and fixed them in minutes. No charge then either. That is why I had kept the business card. Contrast this to the many repairman cards I have thrown out over 21 years on Park Slope after the first encounter with their service. Vila is a gemstone. I called Vila to provide a second estimate to fix a window that would not go up and down.I had been quoted by a competitor ( WindowFix) that I needed to replace the balances and shoes with a total cost of $550. Vila's technician came when scheduled and fixed my window in less than 5 minutes. He gave me tips on how to properly maintain the window tracks and what to do about my screens. I had a broken window (glass was cracked in top and bottom of a double-hung window) and was about to get the window replaced. I called Home Depot and they quoted me an outrageous $2K to replace the entire section (that window is part of a three window segment). I decided to see if someone can just replace the dual pane glass and did a quick search on Yelp for window repairs in Brooklyn. Vila came up with high reviews so I call and scheduled a time for Saturday morning for a quote. They arrived promptly on Saturday and measured the window. They quoted $145 per window for a total of $290 cash. I accepted and they went back to their store to prepare the dual panes. I initially scheduled them to come back next Saturday because they're closed on Sundays. I got a call an hour later that they can install it the same day if I want. They came in 30 minutes and replaced the glass with new dual panes. They re-caulked the exterior and interior and took the cracked glass away. Vila Window and glass came over today to fix my windows. They were extremely difficult to open and I also had missing and broken screens. Firstly, the team arrived right on time, exactly when they said they would show up! Jay and Nehat worked so quickly and effortlessly and rebalanced all 12 of my windows. They also brought a blanket for their tools and made a tidy work area so that nothing would damage the floors or walls. They also took measurements to replace a few windows that gave a broken seals which have dirt between panes that cannot be cleaned. I hired this company to help with a window that was not going back into the frame (luckily it was warm out at the time!). I tried every which way to get it back in but it is heavy, the building and windows are super old and I just figured it was time for a new one. These 2 nice, professional guys took a look at it, replaced one piece, oiled it up and then cleaned it and viola! For $150 the window was repaired! I was literally thinking they would tell me to get a new window for thousands. I have used Vila window repair on two different occasions. The first time it was a repair job where they fixed several windows that were no longer staying open. The second time they installed 5 new window inserts. Both times they showed up exactly when they said they would for both the estimate and repairs. In fact for the repair job once I was quoted for the job and accepted the worker went right outside and had all the parts already in the work van and completed all the work in like a hour. For the window install I want to say they were there for about 4 hours and installed 5 windows. They have great prices and the best part is.... I have now had Vila do 3 jobs for me. They are always very quick and professional. I have some concerns about how this speed affects quality though. 6 months after they installed my basement window, the caulking came off. They kindly came out and fixed it, but this was the second issue I had found with this job. The window had also not been put together for in a way that sealed.
