This is our 12th year in HHI and Papa Bear is the first charter we call every year, but because he gets booked out pretty far, this is just our 3rd time with him. With that said, my top 3 trips over those 12 years are all With Michael and Crew. I don't leave many online reviews but feel strongly with the statements above. Make sure you hit them up if you're ever looking to charter anything around HHI. Get well Michael, ready you see you out there next summer!

They were fantastic with my young daughter, who was shy and nervous about it. They just kept drawing her out and teaching her about the fish, and when we left she cried. As for the rest of us, they were kind enough to handle baiting and casting out our lines, and letting us reel in the fish when we snagged one. I could see that the boat was equipped for much more serious fishing, but they tailored the trip to our ability. The boat had ample shaded space, so we didn't fry out there either. We caught mostly sharks, and almost snagged one cobia. That would have been very cool, because when you dock they will take it to the skull creek boathouse to prepare for your dinner. All in all we had a great day, and I think everyone who goes to hilton head should go out with Papa Bear.

We arrived for an early dinner and we're greeted by the hostess and bartender. Everyone was very welcoming and they offered us seating anywhere in the bar area. Even though we didn't have a reservation, we were offered seating in the dining room. Once we were seated, we ordered wine and the Apple, Pecan, and goat cheese salad (split in two plates). The server brought us both a very nice portion and we thoroughly enjoyed the salad as it was fresh and very tasty. My wife ordered the Shrimp and Grits which they are known for as being notable and I ordered the Seafood Pot Pie. The shrimp and grits were excellent with a heap of blackened shrimp over a flavorful Gouda course grits. The shrimp were cooked just right. The seafood pot pie had the blue crab bisque as the base and loaded with shrimp, white fish, salmon, and small scallops. It was topped with a puffed pastry square. The pot pie was also an excellent dish that I would definitely recommend. Next time I may come back for the crab bisque as an appetizer. This is a very nice place, with great atmosphere, and very friendly service. I would give it a 5.0 and recommend you try it.

I'll usually filter out restaurants by the average / amount of reviews and this was a top contender. Located inside an unassuming shopping plaza, we backed into a suitable parking spot and finally entered the legendary Sushi Bear. The first thing we instinctually noticed was an odd, chemical smell (hopefully cleaning product / hence the knocked off star) and some of the walls looked to be under renovation and partially covered with incoherent children's scribble, but no big deal. We were promptly sat and immediately served a complimentary holiday roll and clear soups which were both very tasty. Soon after, our order was taken and within minutes was brought to us which we quickly filled up on. The staff were VERY attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and I will 100% be returning here whenever I need another convenient sushi fix. Highly recommended for the area. - Lou Sassle
