Best fried shrimp in the WORLD!!! Worth the drive from St Simons Island. The buffet is also very good.

I love the seafood here! It is well worth the detour off I95 . The service is quick and friendly but the fried oysters and shrimp are out of this World fantastic! It is a little pricey but trust me, you'll be back year after year.

This was the fried shrimp with fried oysters !! They PILE on the food !!

Another great meal at B&J. Delicious New York strip, fries, green beans, blue berry cobbler with ice cream.

Best fried shrimp in the world!

We always go to B&Js for shrimp! Nowhere else compares. Great customer service and food.

I can't speak on nothing but the fried seafood and THAT is perfection! Had the fried shrimp on Friday then came right back on Saturday for the fried fish sandwiches. Always to go so I can't speak much on service, but no issues there. And it looks like your typical casual coastal seafood basket/buffet spot--inside and out. Ain't stinky or fishy smelling tho!

I've been coming to BJ's since I was a little girl. The food is great, they have the best service, and the experience is amazing. We always enjoy coming to eat here when we come to Darien. BJ's is a must when you come. I wish they still had their breakfast though, it was the best.

Fried shrimp dinner w/fried okra and hush puppies

We got our order to go, and my husband and I shared this meal. We ordered the fried shrimp dinner, which is 1 pound of shrimp, with the fried okra and hush puppies. The shrimp are fantastic! They are a nice size, deveined and butterflied with a light breading. The okra is delicious as well. I don't eat hush puppies, but my husband said they were good.

My Dad and I ate lunch here and it was delicious. The fried shrimp and oysters were some of the best I have had. The Wait staff checks on you makes sure you're satisfied. The ambiance is an older rustic setting but nice and clean.

Destiny was our server and she handled everything like a pro, even with a very difficult table next to us. You could tell she was hustling and still kept a great attitude...service definitely stood out. Food-wise, we ordered a little bit of everything: alligator bites, a dozen oysters, and the whole flounder with mac & cheese and collard greens. The alligator bites were easily my favorite--crispy, flavorful, and not chewy at all. The collard greens were also a standout, seasoned just right and full of flavor. The oysters (from Virginia) were fresh and hit the spot. The flounder itself was cooked well, but it could've used a bit more seasoning to really bring it home. Same with the mac & cheese...just a little bland compared to everything else on the table. I also had a prosecco, which paired perfectly with the seafood and kept things feeling light and fun. Overall, great atmosphere, strong service, and a few standout dishes. I'd definitely come back...just know what to order.

We arrived for an early dinner and we're greeted by the hostess and bartender. Everyone was very welcoming and they offered us seating anywhere in the bar area. Even though we didn't have a reservation, we were offered seating in the dining room. Once we were seated, we ordered wine and the Apple, Pecan, and goat cheese salad (split in two plates). The server brought us both a very nice portion and we thoroughly enjoyed the salad as it was fresh and very tasty. My wife ordered the Shrimp and Grits which they are known for as being notable and I ordered the Seafood Pot Pie. The shrimp and grits were excellent with a heap of blackened shrimp over a flavorful Gouda course grits. The shrimp were cooked just right. The seafood pot pie had the blue crab bisque as the base and loaded with shrimp, white fish, salmon, and small scallops. It was topped with a puffed pastry square. The pot pie was also an excellent dish that I would definitely recommend. Next time I may come back for the crab bisque as an appetizer. This is a very nice place, with great atmosphere, and very friendly service. I would give it a 5.0 and recommend you try it.

Throughout the meal there was ongoing confusion and delays, and at one point I had to get up and grab my own silverware. The food itself was good, but it arrived lukewarm to cold. I didn't bother saying anything because I couldn't face waiting even longer. Overall, a pretty miserable experience -- hopefully an off night, because the kitchen clearly has potential. Restaurant uses mostly disposable dishware and cups. Sometimes shrink refills would come in a single used cup. It's not a fan of how much unnecessary waste was produced. The price was pretty competitive. But would have happily paid more for a better experience.

Maybe they only take reservations by phone, even though it is 2026, but it should say something to that effect on their website. It was evident they preferred reservations and said they were packed but there were plenty of tables unseated. The table we were seated at, was very wobbly. Which is an annoying thing that is easily fixed. I will say that the bread and the marinated saladswere both very good and our baked potatoes were perfect but that's where it ends. My son got the filet and my husband got the ribeye. They both ordered medium rare but both were well done and chewy. We did not say anything to our waitress or complain bc we are just not those kind people but it was disappointing to say the least. A steak place that has been in business for as long a they have should have perfected their steaks, I got the grilled chicken and when it came, I thought they had brought me fried chicken by mistake. I was expecting a grilled chicken breast (my mistake for assuming) but it was 4 pieces of what appeared to be smoked chicken on the bone. They were pretty tasty but felt like something I would get at a bbq restaurant, not a steak house. Needless to say, we will not be back.

I ate here twice over the course of a week, once at the bar, and once in the dining room. Michael took great care of us at the bar, and Devin was fantastic in the dining room. Also, a shout out to the short little Hispanic fellow who delivers those delightful warm rolls--incredible! The second time I visited, we had to wait a few minutes while our table was prepared. In maybe six minutes total, no less than seven different servers approached us to make sure we were being taken care of. Forget about the menu you see online. The specials are where it's at. Both meals I had, there were at least five appetizer specials, and nearly double that for mains. I won't go through a blow-by-blow of every dish, but suffice it to say every single thing we ate was perfection. And even after salads, our mains, and sharing two desserts and three appetizers, we left feeling satisfied but not bloated, a testament to the quality of the food. GO TO THIS RESTAURANT.

Anyway, his service was also excellent. I ordered the duck which I have had there before and oh my goodness it was even better. The outside skin was grilled perfectly and had a nice bite to it. My husband had the pork steak schnitzel. He shared one little piece with me and it literally melted in your mouth. I told him next time I was getting it - it was that good. So big decision next time I go back as I loved loved loved the duck. We typically don't order dessert but hey it was Valentine's Day. My husband ordered the key lime pie which was monumental as he is super picky and never ever has anything good to say when he does get it. That changed- he declared it was real key lime pie and would order it again. My chocolate Guinness cake was also excellent. So as you can tell, I definitely recommend this place and the fact that they just keep getting better is phenomenal!
