It's been far too long since my wife and I have visited Uncharted Tea. I know we will always get high quality tasty drinks when we stop here. I will say it's always a gamble if we will get close street parking. Also a warning that they have a set of stairs up so may difficult for some to be able to get inside due to this. Once you get inside the order counter will be in front of you and then to both sides will be a variety of seating options. Some tables, a couch and some window seating to watch the hustle and bustle of Portland. Through a partnership with the book store across the street Green Hand Bookshop they have some books for sale too. They do offer some food options here including breakfast toasts and what not but I have only had drinks. Also don't be worried by the name if you don't like tea they do have coffee options available too. If you like tea and especially bubble tea this is a must visit though! Besides their typical offering menu they do specials and that is what got us needing to stop by. I will first give a shout out to their dirty chai, one of the best versions of this I have tried! But the two fall inspired specials we got today were Thai Tea Pumpkin Spice and Nitro Pumpkin Spice. Both were full of flavor and super unique for fall drink specials. The Thai tea had a good mix of that classic flavor that you know if you've tried it with a balanced amount of pumpkin. The Nitro Pumpkin was a delicious cold brew with a punch of pumpkin to it. Both came with boba but you could ask for without if wanted. I would get either of those drinks again but would give a slight edge to the Nitro Pumpkin Spice. Do yourself a favor and stop here for the first time if you haven't checked it out and if it's been awhile revisit!

Such a cute boba shop. Bright space with lots of seating. Their tea was absolutely delicious and the staff was friendly. I will definitely come back to try more things from the menu

Our first experience at Uncharted Tea was to say the least, very pleasant. From the moment we walked in the door, we knew this was a place we would frequent. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in helping us choose our drinks. I had the Black Pearl which was delicious and fun. I love bubble tea, it's fun!!! My husband got the Tami Massif with Mango. He said many times it was the best he's had. We both had the Avocado Toast with crunch Chick Peas and Harissa Olive Oil. Absolutely the best we've had. There was plenty of seating and windows. The shop is on Congress Street which provides lots of people watching while enjoying your tea and toast. Parking took a while, but was worth it!! This place is definitely a winner.

As a tea lover, my friend recommended I come here. I really liked the vibe and open space of this store, and also appreciated the extensive menu that had different than usual bubble tea type options. I got a sailor's paradise since it was caffeine free. It was fine, but the flavors and boba did not stand out to me in any way. My friend got a dirty chai but felt it was excessively sweet. I wish I liked it more than I did.

I came to check out Uncharted Tea after learning the unfortunate news that my childhood boba spot, Bubble Maineia, had closed down and the owner returned to Taiwan. Uncharted is definitely catering to certain folks, with a sea themed menu and board games around the store for kids to play with. Not the most accessible spot, with a few stairs and doors to get into, and it may be more prudent to walk here if you can rather than try to find parking. I got the Kraken (Thai tea) with boba to cool myself down one day, and found it to be good but nothing crazy. The tapioca pearls were semi sweet but decently chewy. They do have other snacks and mochi, as well as wifi to do work here however there is music playing in addition to the noise of the machines and everything.

A selection of books, and people gaming at the table

This was exactly the vibe I needed to recharge as I explored the city. So many quirky-cozy places to sit and sip, lovely baked goods to complement the bubble tea. They had all the staples you'd expect, and I was very impressed by their unique twist on a good boba. Book and games to pass the time or entertain the kids so you can get a moment of quiet. The staff was helpful and had good suggestions about the menu. I'll be sure to stop by next time I'm in Portland!

Loved Uncharted but I do wish it was easier to find parking for. The steps are steep to enter so be aware of that if you have mobility issues. This was my first time seeing a tea-machine that functions like an espresso machine. The teas are great and I wish I could try all the flavors. Highly recommend!

Ambiance is everything!! The boba is great too-- nice and warm pearls, made fresh for sure! There's a lovely view of bustling downtown Portland here, and the vibe is just super lovely and laid back. A perfect stop for any day trippers or casual boba enthusiasts.

Cozy coffee shop, perfect for what was a pretty rainy day in Portland. The turmeric chai latte was a nice balance of sweet and savory and the "great barrier reef" with coconut milk, lychee, mango and boba was a unique take on bubble tea. Surprisingly refreshing on a cold day. 1. Turmeric chai latte - 4/5 2. Great Barrier Reef - 5/5

Atlantis - matcha, oat milk, simple syrup, boba

Although I don't think I'll ever fully hop aboard the boba tea train, Uncharted is undoubtedly the best bubble tea in the area. There's plenty of indoor seating inside a spacious, bright, and homey-feeling interior, and the menu is the perfect amount of extensive. I ordered the Atlantis (matcha) and Mariana Trench (taro), and found the Atlantis to be a better pick. Kinda wish I had just gone for the Kraken (thai tea), but you live some, you learn some. Although I probably should have asked for 125-150% sweetness (which I appreciate that you can do!) I tried to be healthy (questionable), but regretted it, because without the extra sugar, the drink gets watered down pretty easily. Still good, nonetheless. Although I understand that the menu is supposed to have more authentic roots, as compared to Kung Fu Tea, let's say, I do wish they had some flavors (anything chocolate-y or Oreo typically does the trick) that catered to my childlike tastebuds. I have yet to try their food, which features avo toast, deviled egg, and other quick, healthy bites, so looks like I'll have to make another trip. :)

Gorgeous venue but drink fell short. Detailed breakdown below: **Service, 5/5** Staff was super friendly and drink came out quickly. **Decor & cleanliness, 5/5** Beautiful space with plenty of desk space to do work in natural lighting. **Price & portion, 4/5** Prices are a tad high for the area. **Taste of the food, 2/5** I got the mango and lychee with coconut milk at 75% sweet. Almost half the cup was ice, and the drink was wayyyy too sweet. Even after I let the ice melt, it was overwhelming. I also couldn't taste any coconut milk at all. **Other notes** Straws are compostable which is nice!

If I lived in Portland, I would be here allll the time! This may be one of my favorite bubble tea shops I've ever been to. The menu has so many creative flavor combinations and I love that everything is sea-themed. They also have great toasts and mochi ice cream. The employees were so friendly and wonderful. There's ample comfortable seating as well. Highly recommend getting a treat here on your Maine vacay!

Ask the Community - Uncharted Tea

Can I get unsweetened boba tea, or is there sugar/sweeteners in the boba itself?

All of our drinks are customizable so we can make them sugar free. All of the “toppings” / boba do have some level of sugar to them that we are unable to remove. Our tapioca pearls are unsweetened by default and we add sweetener to them after we… Read more

Their website lists about a half dozen, but the last time I was here there were just two: the sourdough chocolate chip cookie and the matcha and black sesame butter mochi. I'm guessing those are regularly available (they also do fun seasonal specials, so be sure to check their socials), but don't come with the expectation that there's going to be a big variety. The drinks include coffees, teas, and a variety of matcha. For me, this is NOT the best matcha in Portland. Matcha Mood is. The matcha here is good (maybe in the top three in the city), but the iced matcha with miso maple syrup and almond milk I recently had for $9+ was just okay. The drink is (literally) half the size as one at Macha Mood for the same price, and there wasn't any flavor of miso or maple. I've seen some internet buzz claiming THIS IS THE BEST... as a local, I don't agree. And that's okay; you might find your new favorite here, so it's absolutely worth visiting. They also do other fun spontaneous matcha flavors, so be sure to follow them on social! Check out their shop as well: loads of chili crisps and hot sauces, condiments and spices, jams, matcha powders and loose tea, pickles and other preserved foods, sweets, vinegars and oils, fermentation ware and kitchen goods, etc.

They also have a small gift shop too, where they sell housemade spa salt cubes and lotions. You need to make a reservation for spa services here. I visit a lot of these types of places. I was surprised at how different Soakology was compared to most of my other experiences. We were taken to a large communal space which was divided into semi-private rooms made from dark curtains, and the lights are down low. They ask for no phones, and quiet. I sat in a raised arm chair and they wheel in a copper tub under us, that they filled with hot water and whatever scented salt cube you choose. The soaks range in price from $35 to $53, depending on which scented salt cube you pick. I choose the CBD (to attempt to make up for my lack of massage, $53). They came and refilled our hot water in the tub twice, and refilled our tea water. We visited on a warm day, and I image this service would be a staple for me in winter. I left sweating! I have inflammatory arthritis, and it did helped me to soak. Anyhow, the experience surpassed my expectations in terms of relaxation. When we left my feet were like 75% relaxed, which is not bad. I could do this all at home at a fraction of the cost, but there is something more luxurious about not having to set up, and clean up. If you are in Portland, check them out!
