Ube Latte & Brown Sugar Milk Tea
    The D.

Neighborhood alert! We've been dying to check this place out and we finally got the chance to pay them a visit. The store is just darling inside. It's bright, inviting and tasteful. We got the Ube Latte which tastes like dessert in a cup. Super sweet but milky, rich and delightful. Up next we got the Brown Sugar Milk Tea which was nutty, sweet and milky. They really killed it with their Tapioca pearls too. Overwhelmingly please with our drinks and exited to return to try out their ice cream!

I went to Lecha located 502 Stevens Ave, Portland, ME 04103. This cute bubble tea store serves classic bubble tea flavors as well as unique ice cream flavors. We had their matcha, thai, brown sugar and ube bubble teas 9/10. The teas are made with non dairy milk. Also, the actual boba itself was soft and tasted great. The only thing I'd comment on is that if you love matcha it isn't the most matcha forward drink. We also tried their ube ice cream (which you can even get on top of your ube bubble tea!). Next time I definitely want to try more of their ice cream flavors like toasted coconut or even one of their fruit teas! If you are craving bubble tea while visiting Portland I would check them out! It is a delicious dessert after being out in the sun all day! Food: 9/10 Ambiance: 8/10 Affordability: 8/10

I love Le-Cha. At Le-Cha, there is an option to get boba or ice cream, and every time, it's so hard to choose because they both are so good. This neighborhood boba place is perfect to go to after a lunch at The Quality Shop right next door. The servers are always so nice and polite. I highly recommend this place.

FALSE ADVERTISING: there is a dairy derivative (casein) in the product and therefore this drink cannot be made fully vegan.

I'm pretty angry with this business. I went into the store and asked what the vegan options are, and they said nothing here can be made vegan, so I left. I messaged them on Instagram as seen in the attached photo where they told me that several of their drinks contain a milk derivative (such as in the Ube flavor.) However, I was just browsing DoorDash and I noticed that if you go to order a drink, there is the option to check the "made vegan" box, despite there being casein, an animal derivative, in the product. They are falsely marketing and selling these products as vegan options when they are absolutely not. That's not cool at all. Buyer beware.

This was our first stop after a long 7 and a half our drive. What more can you ask for than delicious bubble tea? I would definitely recommend stopping here for bubble tea. I got the taro milk tea with boba and was very happy with my choice. It's a small shop, so it's hard to tell if there was a line or not when we walked in. People were waiting for their already placed orders. Parking is not idea (street parking) but we did not have a problem finding a spot.

Came here during my lunch break and order online to go. I originally picked Blue Cotton Candy for the fruit refresher and the Butter scotch banana croffle. Shortly after placing it, they called me to tell me they no longer serve those 2 items. Therefore, they still need to update their website options, so be careful. I ended up switching to Biscroff, which was good. I fell in love instantly with the strawberry chocolate overload that was delicious. Fruit refresher I was happy to see was a non caffeine as a choice too. The carrier made it easier to hold both drinks at once to go. There is only side street parking, but I was able to pull right up to the door in and out no problem. Inside is really cute, all decorated with light/pastel colors. Service was friendly and on top of it for an order change.

Honestly I love this place so much. We always come here with my sisters. Lately they have been missing multiple toppings a lot of the times we come. Employees are mostly very kind, but sometimes seem a bit clueless and I have gotten orders wrong a few times already... I really want to keep coming here. Coming here has become a little tradition with my sisters and it has sentimental value for us. It's super cutesy and we enjoy it here, just wish some of those things were improved. AND PLEASE PLEASE BRING BACK CHEESE FOAM. Also maybe make things a teeny bit less sweet. Just some feedback from a loyal customer

    Matcha Latte w/ Tapioca Pearls
    Hannah R.

Good boba is supeeeerr difficult to find in Portland. I've tried all the boba places and Le'Cha has one of the best. The drink is at the perfect temperature - not warm and not overflowing with ice. I added tapioca pearls to the matcha latte and the pearls were cooked well and were not hard. The matcha latte was sweet but personally not overpowering. The cafe is very cute and I love how there's seating. Staff are also nice. I loved it and will go back!

Great addition to the growing Southern Maine bubble tea list! I would say it's my favorite bubble tea place. Their matcha is truly unmatched! The shop is so cute and welcoming and the staff is so sweet!! Love this place.

Such a cute place ! They carry everything you need and what you didn't know you need ! I had an Ube Boba with Thai tea ice cream on top ! It tasted amazing ! No Ube ice cream :( The only down side is it was all ice , could not reach the boba with the paper straw and the ice cream sat on top of the ice and wouldn't melt down to drink it with straw . Bummer. I will be back when I'm in the area ! Oh I did mention I was allergic to nuts but just read they use non dairy milks so I hope it was not almond Milk or some other nut milk .

Starting off strong with the pros. Very cute vibe, brightly colored, on theme, and overall a nice place. It looks as if you told AI to create a cute tea shop with pastels. Lots of drink options, ice cream, and a surprisingly diverse menu. Cute games to entertain yourself if you can't sit still for longer then 30 seconds (me and my friend), and different trinkets you can buy. The service was fine, what you would expect from a service worker who clearly looks like they would rather be sleeping, but the other lady was very nice. We had the ice cream, which was delicious but the small truly ment small, which for us was disappointing. Like damn, let us be big. But it ended up being a good amount, who knew portion control actually had benefits. The lady gave us a free drink to try the new experiment she was making and here our thoughts. Overall worth your time (although three sips of a drink is equivalent to a solid line of crack cocaine based on the rush you that get).

Their menu! Such a variety of flavors and drinks. But, BROWN SUGAR is by far the best one they've had.

I been here so many times and it never disappoints! Such a good environment, cute decorations, and good music. Very spacious as well. The people always so friendly. The service always great trying to accommodate to whatever you need and want. And the flavor are an explosion in your mouth. Such a good fruit teas with the fruit popping always hitting on point. My family and I love this place. I will always come here for there specials, they always amazed me with their creativity and uniqueness. Lecha in Portland is just the BEST.

It's a cop out to talk about sampling spoons as waste when I've seen other ice cream shops find solutions to that, it's really just greed. They know they'll sell ice cream regardless so they'll cut that corner. Maybe lines are a little longer, but as a local, it makes me not want to come back all year long. Also, the base recipe they seem to use is VERY thick and rich, to the point where it's arguably too much and takes away from the flavors. I've had some good bites here too so it's not a dud altogether. I'll say I'm partial to higher end ice cream (which I feel MDI falls into), and will pay a premium happily for a great product, but I haven't been back in a while because it's hit or miss if I'll enjoy my ice cream since they don't offer samples. I've also not craved any of the 5 or so flavors I've tried in order to return for them. There's great potential there, and I am opening to trying it again if they decide to prioritize local customers over the summer tourists.

Lived in Portland for years and never had a reason to come here when there's so many other (glamorous) options, but now living so close I just think this spot is super, duper charming. Yes, the prices are higher than at other places and I'm not entirely sure why, but this doesn't really bother me because the portions have always been enormous here, it's super convenient to where I live, there's never a wait, the staff is accommodating about wacky requests, they take credit cards, and the customer service is sometimes above and beyond what's becoming the norm downtown (I showed up once a few minutes after they had closed for the night, but they still let us order giant sundaes anyway!). They serve stuff from The Ice Cream Machine (out of Rhode Island, and distributed by Sysco) so it's not homemade or local even - I don't think it's the most delicious ice cream in the world, but it gets the job done and sometimes that's all you need (side note: their sundaes are awesome here; they know how to pour. on. the. hot. fudge!). Do I think this is a destination spot? Absolutely not. Is it ever going to make it on some national "Best of..." list that will drive hoards of people to it? Nope. Will I seek it out when I move away from the neighborhood? Can't say that I will. But is it a perfect spot for those Back Cove/The Pocket folks within walking distance? Yep. It's nice that in the state's biggest, busiest, trendiest city there are still places you can safely, quietly walk to get some ice cream with your family and enjoy it in a pristine park across the street only locals really know about.
