I knew for my first time trying matcha, I should try matcha mood and it did not disappoint! The worker was really helpful in picking out a drink, so I went with the strawberry matcha. The inside was really cute, with a big menu on the wall that depicted different drink options which I enjoyed. The matcha also came in a Valentine's Day reusable cup which was so cute! The service was quick and the drink was good, not "grassy"like some have said matcha can taste like.
This matcha place is good for the area. I like how there's a large variety of flavors you can get, so there's something for everyone. Even if you aren't a fan of matcha, they have other drinks as well such as mango. I got the banana one and it was yummy! It's very cute inside and the workers are nice. There isn't too much seating inside though.
Such a cute, tiny space. The caramelized banana matcha was to die for and the blue coconut was good, it just didn't have much of a coconut flavor. The girl working was great and I'll definitely be back :)
I really enjoyed this small matcha shop. They had a variety of different type of matcha drinks that looked interesting. I got the purple moon and it was delicious! It was a great blend of ube, taro, and matcha.
This place is so cute! The pink/cutesy decor really drew me in and luckily the drinks taste as good as the place looks. I got the kuro mitsu matcha and asked the barista to make it less sweet and she was more than happy to. It was delicious! You can really taste both the matcha and the brown sugar without one overpowering the other and it was not too sweet. You can also tell from the color that the matcha they are using is good quality. Loved this place, no notes.
I found this place over the summer and it instantly became my favorite matcha in the world. Every cup is so smooth, rich and comforting. Never bitter, just perfect. It's a small ritual I always look forward to. Nothing else compares
I tried the Brown Butter Pistachio Matcha with whole milk, yet the drink was not very creamy and was almost watered down. The matcha is there, but it's not strong and does not justify spending $9 for. My friend also got the same drink with oat milk, but that drink was creamier. We asked the worker about it, but they said the difference in creaminess was because of the difference in milk. However, I would expect the whole milk one to be creamier.
THE CUTEST MATCHA SPOT TO EVER EXIST!! It's a matcha girlies dream. They have cute little games and so many photo op spots for your matcha drink. They sell whisks and ceramic bowls. The matcha menu is extensive but all the drinks sound so good. My group decided on the coconut, sesame, and strawberry. All I can say is it did not disappoint!! You can tell the matcha quality is better than most places. It wasn't powdery and the drinks weren't sweet. You could taste the earthiness. It was the best matcha we've had in a while. The girl working the register and making our drinks was efficient and sweet. We will definitely be coming back. They also have punch cards, so if you're a matcha lover like me you'll get an 11th one on them!
the food we had was really good, and i loved the drink i ordered too. It's a little expensive for the amount you're getting though. The lady that took our order was really nice but also there was like a little kid there behind the counter too that was just like screaming a bunch and it's a very tiny shop so that was a bit overwhelming. There's also really limited seating inside so keep that in mind because when we went it was raining.
Happy surprise to find Matcha Mood as I walked around downtown Portland for food. Both inside and outside are adorably decorated with lots of matcha related pottery and goods on the side for purchase. There were so many options to choose from, and I ended up going with the basic option of Strawberry Matcha. Service was quick, and matcha was delish. Wish I can take Matcha Mood back to NC! I will be back next time I'm in Portland.

I LOVE the variety of matcha drinks they offer! So many unique flavors to choose from & not too sweet. I ordered the Ube Dream which was nutty, creamy and overall delicious. There is not a lot of seating and it was very packed when I arrived so it's more of a to-go shop but super cute and aesthetic overall. The workers were so cheery and helpful. The drinks are a bit on the high side $8-9 per drink. Plenty of milk options to choose from and crufffles too! One size of matcha drinks. I will definitely be returning to try to the Coconut Cloud!

Matcha Mood is a must-visit for matcha lovers! The matcha was incredibly tasty, smooth, and full of flavor. There are so many unique options to choose from that it can feel a little overwhelming when ordering in person, so I would recommend looking at the menu ahead of time and having an idea of what you want to try. The quality of the matcha really stands out, and the variety of flavors makes it a fun experience. The only downside is that the prices are a bit steep, but the quality and creativity of the drinks make it worth trying. I would definitely come back to explore more of their matcha options! read more
this shop is so cute! from the cutie a-frame board outside the door advertising the current special to the inside where everything is pastel pink and aesthetically pleasing. I stopped by over wild maine blueberry weekend because I was in from out of town and love all things matcha and all things blueberry. this seemed like the perfect spot; a place that had enough menu options to stand out while still prioritizing the quality matcha in the drinks. unfamiliar with their game, I got there too late (10am) to try the blueberry matcha so unfortunately I can't comment on that. all I will say is that you need to get there early before the specials sell out. they open at 9am btw! parking isn't too terribly hard to find but it is metered street parking so just an fyi. it's a pretty cozy store so it's very much a grab and go type of place as there's not a ton of seating / you might have trouble finding a spot once the line gets long. after receiving news that the blueberry matcha was sold out, I pivoted to the caramelized banana matcha, which was still really good. I'm only knocking off one star, giving this place a 4/5, because while it was pretty good it was also the smallest and priciest matcha I've had in quite some time at $9.99 (which includes a $1 surcharge for oat milk) for the smallest size they offer. I didn't take a picture of the matcha itself but I did take one after I put a blueberry glazed potato donut, from holy donut, on top. the perfect donut holder and accessory for a matcha. read more

A spot my wife and I have been meaning to try and we finally did! What a great addition to Portland. If you are looking for grabbing a matcha then forget about any other spot! This should be the one and only spot you grab matcha from. It's a small little shop but is decorated perfectly and is so inviting!! I got the iced purple matcha and my wife got their iced matcha chai. Both were great drinks and their menu had so many good sounding ones we will return for sure. The staff were friendly and inviting and clearly know what they are doing with how tasty their drinks are. A must try spot! read more

Cute shop and vibe. Fun menu with a lot of flavor variety. I got the black sesame with oat milk . It was exactly how I would drink this without asking for less sweet- which is shocking for me. I usually always have to ask for no sweetener or only 1/4 sweet, but I wonder if it's because they're respecting and using real matcha they aren't using extra sweetners? I really appreciate this so much because I always have issues with drinks being too sweet. There was no grit or grassy flavorful. I could taste the black sesame. It was $9.75 is my only price tag shock for this drink so it wouldn't be an every week treat. read more

There are so many drink options, many of which are unique and interesting! All of the options I've had have been well-made with high-quality matcha and other ingredients. Cute place. This was my first time here and I brought my computer to work and enjoy a matcha but it was so tiny and really busy. So if you're looking for a space to sit and work this wouldn't be the place depending on how busy it is. The ladies working were nice and answered questions and also made great recommendations. I ordered the ice Mango Oat Milk Matcha. It wasn't too sweet but sweet enough and perfect for my hot walk back to my hotel. I'll definitely be back when I'm back in town. read more
I'm not sure I ever had good matcha until visiting Matcha Mood. Actually, I would say that I very much did not like it; it always seemed gritty in texture and grassy in flavor. Clearly that's now how it's actually supposed to taste. Enter Matcha Mood, Maine's first matcha bar, and the very place that will also change your mind should you have doubts or previous bad experiences. I wasn't shy about my reservations with matcha the first time I came, and they were very patient, kind, and full of explanations about what to expect from each of their drinks (even catering to my vegan requests). In the end, I chose an iced Kuro Mitso with oat milk (this is a very balanced latte with both a delightful blend of rich brown sugar sweetness and earthy matcha). Immediately this became a new favorite. AND This is one of the best caffeinated drinks in the city. For reference: it was not as sweet as most of what I've had at Starbucks. If you're a person who likes a splash or two of flavored creamer in your coffee, for example, this won't be far off from that. Regarding that distinctive matcha flavor... I didn't really notice it, to be honest! I haven't stopped thinking about it since I got it. If parking was a bit easier and I didn't work from home, I'd probably be stopping at Match Mood at least once a week to get it! (Also the vibe here is SUPER cute and unlike anything else in Portland!) read more

Wow. As someone who has long since been obsessed with matcha, Matcha Mood has the best matcha--dare I say, ever? First off, their menu is awesome. As a creature of habit, I usually have one or two favorites off of a menu to order on repeat every time I'm there. Matcha Mood had about ten different drinks that I could've tried and would've loved, so safe to say I will be back! I tried their iced purple matcha, which has ube, taro, and lavender flavors, as well as their pumpkin matcha. Although I think I have to give up on taro as a flavor as I don't think it's for me, the drink was incredibly pretty to look at. As for the pumpkin matcha? Holy moly. An iced matcha with pumpkin cold foam? Unbelievably good. Pumpkin cold foam at any time of the year? You've got to be kidding me. if I could inject this drink into my veins, I would. The interior is just darling, filled with pink and green pastels, seasonal decor, and a small counter that overlooks Commercial Street. Owned by a duo of sisters originally from Thailand, Matcha Mood is a must-visit for those wanting a cutesy cafe experience. Be sure to try their array of sweet or savory croffles (croissant waffle combo). One of the co-owners was served us herself and was as sweet as can be. Next on the list to try: their Matcha chai and Kuro Mitsu matcha, a brown sugar matcha latte. Can't wait to head back! read more
