This place is a real hit if you love birds. It's a small, privately owned, bird sanctuary and I'm really glad we found it. The people that run it and care for the birds are first class fun. They give you a little cut of food of peanuts, cooked pasta and bread to feed the birds. You're given a very brief class on how not to get bitten when feeding them. These types of birds can inflict a nasty bite. It only costs ten dollars a person to walk through and it has to be cash. I donated another twenty bucks as well. The bird enclosures are spacious and the birds appear well fed and healthy. I really enjoyed the Emus, budgies and the funny chicken. There are even peacocks running around. One let me feed it peanuts and was very friendly. This place does a great service for surrendered birds nobody wants or knows how to take care of. Visiting funds continued care for these animals and I fully support the mission. It really is a fun experience.

This was a much anticipated visit for me personally while my family and I were in town. None of us had ever visited before and I was looking for a new experience to enjoy. They had to raise their admission prices recently and I was sad that I couldn't visit prior to that change. This was still very affordable and had no impact on my decision to visit or not. The cup of food is included in the price and each person will get their own cup. You can also return any food leftover as you leave to help reduce waste. This was a hit for sure. The staff was very nice and provided excellent education on how to feed the birds and how to be safe during the interactions. The space is a great size to accommodate all the birds and visitors - not too big and not too small. There is great diversity of birds here that will surely capture most, if not all, of the visitors' attention. We ended up completing our visit in about 30 minutes. The kids wanted to end it a little early as it was very hot and humid and they were starting to get uncomfortable. We all agreed that this was money well spent even if we ended up cutting the visit a little shorter than expected. I would love to come back during winter to have a longer, more comfortable experience someday. 10/10 - highly recommend making a visit. Even if you happen to not enjoy the experience, the admission fees that you paid for goes towards the care of the birds so I hope you can at least leave feeling good about that. Small note: this is a cash only facility so don't forget to bring some!

‍‍ We had an amazing time at Uncle Sandy's Macaw Bird Park! The birds are so friendly (but watch out for the head bites ), and the staff is great at teaching you how to feed them. Take a walk, enjoy the breeze, and definitely come on a cool day because it's all outside. We give it a 10/10 and highly recommend it for families! Service was excellent and it's definitely worth the $5 admission. Don't miss out on feeding and loving on the birds! Check out Uncle Sandy's We spent $12 and had the best time. Some of the birds actually want to hang out with you.

Cheap and unique activity to do with your friends or family. Me and my boyfriend thought it was fun feeding all the different kinds of parrots, it took us 30ish minutes. You should go!

Can I give this more stars??? Such a cool little spot. You are greeted by a nice gentleman who gives you bird snacks with your ticket. He then showed us how to feed the parrots. Multiple kinds of parrots, peacocks and emus! The emus even posted for pictures. Inexpensive, close to the airport, great family fun! Has a bathroom. Took us about 45 minutes, we are bird lovers. With little kids I would say it might take 30-60 minutes depending on how crowded it is and how long it takes to feed your snacks.

There were SO many great birds there, it was hard to spend time with them all. The greys were my personal favorite.

If you are within 100 miles, make time to see this little bird sanctuary. They have TONS of birds, and they are beautiful!

Amazing bird sanctuary. You get a cup of various foods for the birds, and it is so much fun to see them all and feed them. Some birds talked, and some danced! I talked to the owners and you can clearly see how much they care for these birds. If you are in Pensacola I highly recommend coming here. And you can't beat the price- $5 a person!

This was such a fun and exciting experience!! It was cheap and they gave you a cup of food to feed the birds with! The birds were friendly and some of the talk back!

My first time to see so many colorful macaws! They talks, takes treat, even jokes. Me and my daughter had a lot of fun.

This place popped up in my search bar while looking for something fun to do, and we decided to try it out. So glad we did! It's only $5 per person and you get a lot of snacks for the birds. The birds have a lot of personality and is great for all ages. Definitely worth if it you're looking for something fun to do with friends or family.

Visiting from out of town, this was a rare find. Adult entry was 5 bucks, our two year old was free. They have over 150 birds that you can walk around and feed using the food they provide you with. Staff were very informative and helpful, the whole experience was definitely more than we expected. The only things I would add is that the entry point is really only big enough for one vehicle at a time, so take extra caution entering or leaving. Also there are warnings everywhere about the birds biting, so you just need to be extra mindful with your little ones

My Mom wanted to get a black and white long hair but they didn't have any. This one was by itself and was friendly as soon as I opened the cage. What a cute face!!!! We checked out another cat room they have as well as what dogs they have available. No puppies or small dogs. Mostly med or larger dogs. They all seem well cared for. My Mom decided on the baby girl I found. (I would have taken her in a heartbeat!) The employees who worked there were nice. Wednesday they have Free dog adoption day and Fridays are for free cats. We will have to stop again to check what they have. They said small dogs go fast as well as the kittens. I am sure this beautiful baby would have been gone long before Friday, she had just become adoptable that day. Lucky we got her!! If you're looking for a pet, stop here! We will definitely stop back. My Mom is very happy with her.

Disappointing Experience at Escambia County Animal Shelter…read more I recently went to the Escambia County Animal Shelter after seeing a bulldog that I really, really wanted to adopt. When I first asked about the dog, I was told that it was under medical evaluation and would need to be spayed/neutered before adoption. I understood that and was willing to wait. I was then told that the dog had a hold on it because another shelter was coming to pick it up. I contacted the shelter because I was confused about how that worked, especially after understanding that adoptions were supposed to be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead of simply explaining the situation, I felt like I was treated as though I was trying to take advantage of the situation. I explained that I was simply trying to adopt a dog I had fallen in love with. I even offered to pay for the spay/neuter and offered to pay double the normal adoption fee because I genuinely wanted to give this dog a home. I was told that someone would call me back, but nobody ever did. The dog was ultimately transferred to another organization, which I later learned was a bulldog rescue. I completely understand that shelters have policies and that the welfare of the animals has to come first. What upset me was the way the situation was handled and how I felt I was treated when I was simply trying to adopt an animal. As a publicly funded county shelter, I expected more transparency, communication, and courtesy. I ultimately gave up on trying to adopt the dog, and I sincerely wish the bulldog the very best and hope it gets a wonderful home. My frustration is not with the dog or the rescue--it is with how this situation was handled and the way I was treated when I was genuinely trying to provide a home for an animal I cared about.

About a week before purchasing, I even called the store to double check and was told the exact same thing over the phone. Because of that, I made sure to come to the store right when it opened so I could get the rabbit I wanted. Once I got there and spoke with one of the animal specialists, I pointed out the rabbits I was interested in and was told they were already spoken for because someone had put deposits down on them. At that point, I was obviously confused and frustrated because I had specifically asked about that twice beforehand and was told it wasn't possible. I explained the situation, but it was pretty much brushed off and I was just told to pick another rabbit. I did end up purchasing one and spent quite a bit of money that day, but the experience left me annoyed because the information given to customers was inconsistent. I think the staff needs to be better informed and on the same page regarding policies so customers can plan accordingly and not waste their time or feel misled.
