Terrific food and loved the space / atmosphere. My fried oyster po-boy with onion rings were delicious. We sat at the bar and the server took great care of us. Easy stop for us in Scott, LA just a couple miles off of I-10 on our way to New Orleans from Houston for a great casual meal. Tony the owner chatted with us while we were settling up ... what a nice guy and a great story. We will definitely visit again. read more

Move over Acme... I no longer have to go the distance into NOLA for really good chargrilled oysters. This place takes the prize and there's variety. Le Bon- in OMG CANT GET EOUGH GOOD. Delicious boudin, bacon and a bit of mustard sauce. I'd love to figure out that sauce. It could be good on a lot of things. But LeBon is a mouthful of delicious flavors and textures. And ye olde standsrd of parm and butter is also good. My husband had the oyster pivot and from the looks of it, it seemed he'd died and gone to heaven. He's only found Nick's in Galveston that can beat it. And then there's the table of 2 next to us celebrating a birthday. They had the fried seafood to be shared and fried onion rings and it all looked like a huge mound of deliciousness. We were envious but too full to order more. read more

Came here for lunch on a weekday while visiting the area, plenty of parking in the parking lot. The place was packed and busy. Ordered the holly beach slammer (chargrilled oyster sampler) for appetizer and po' boys. Of all the oysters, my favorite ones are the firecracker and Le Bon Cochon (4/5). Personally, the Classic Candy was slightly too sweet (3/5). The po boys were solid (4/5 compared to Olde Tyme Grocery) and portions were huge, the half size po boy was enough for one person. Also tried fried alligator for the first time, was seasoned well and surprisingly pretty good! Our server was friendly and quick on the refills, but given how busy the restaurant was, took a while for the food to come out, must be a popular local spot. read more

My favorite place to dine in Scott. I absolutely love it here. I have dined here several times and never disappointed. The service is always top notch. Friendly and so welcoming. The atmosphere is very comforting and relaxing. A great place to dine. I am always recommending Uncle T's to everyone lol. Charbroiled Oysters are the best. I tend to always get the Holly Beach Slammer because I can't decided which one I want. So why not get a little bit of each. The Muffalatta Cheese Bread is addictive. If you love a good Muffalatta sandwich, you definitely do not want to miss out on this appetizer. My daughter decided on the Tacos Tri-eaux. She got all grilled shrimp this time and was in heaven. You definitely do not want to pass up on this place. So delicious and the staff is top notch! read more

Awesome food. Great vibe / atmosphere. Mediocre (at best) service. Came in midday, weekday, post-lunch rush--more empty tables than full. The hostess spent a long time directly in view of us, visiting with the bartender, rather than paying attention us standing waiting at the hostess station. Once we were seated, it took a long time for a waitress to show up. Oh wait, the hostess was again back in the wait station, visiting with the waitstaff the whole time. The waitress brought my food out quickly but might have forgotten about my friend's. When she did remember to bring his food, she had not remembered we did not have any silverware at the table. My half-shell oysters were amazing, though. My friend said his grilled chicken salad was okay. I bet this place could be rocking on the weekend, especially with that patio seating. Management just needs to get the staff's priorities straightened out. read more

Started with the muffaletta cheese bread which was perfectly hot and cheesy. Even the non olive doubters loved it! Oysters candied and NOLA were so hot and tasty. The crawfish and shrimp were huge and seasoned just enough to make you feel on fire but not enough to make you cry. read more

Uncle T's never disappoints. This is by far the best oyster bar I tried. The food is always great. I ordered the charbroiled oysters and the acadian Poboy which all was delicious!!! Oh.... I can't forget to mention their lemon drop shots that I forgot to photo, the best ever. This is my to go spot when I'm back home. Uncle T's has good drinks and phenomenal food!!! read more

Great food - and really good spicy margaritas. The wait can be pretty long so make sure you plan ahead. Also, the room gets really loud when they're slammed. Charbroiled oysters were amazing. Served hot and fresh. Had the zydeco shrimp with a side of onion rings. Both were great! Got the Bread pudding for dessert. Not my favorite bread pudding but it was still good! The bar had a great atmosphere and all the guest were super friendly. Bartender was nice and provided quick, friendly, service. Ok! 1st, these days you go to a bar and expect pretty much nothing but high prices & mediocre food. Well.....well.....well NOT HERE!! We're driving through (long road trip) and decided to stay in Lafayette. Looked on Yelp and found this place. Stopped in not expecting much. Ordered 2 different Po'Boys (shrimp & beef). Both exceptional! I also ordered the side veggies. Omg, I think they gave me 3lbs of fresh veggies cooked beautifully, & seasoned perfectly!! Oh and btw, we had drinks too. My husband had a bud light and Jameson on the side. I had a Prosecco (which was a split,fresh) $5. What! Gonna stop here again just to go to this bar. stopped by for lunch today and was not disappointed! we found the location on yelp and once again my yelp peers did not lead me astray! we started with the chargrilled oysters. they had just the right amount of seasoning giving them a slightly spicy kick. we shared the seafood basket, half fish and half shrimp with onion rings. although we ordered the fried, each item was fresh and individually flavorful. we sat on the porch out front and enjoyed this small town LA. feel. service was attentive and cooperative so we really never had to wait. give them a try, you won't be sorry! read more

Heading back to NOLA and we decided we couldn't make it the last two hours of the drive without sustenance so we popped into Uncle T's for a couple dozen raw and two cups of gumbo. Y'all, this is the real deal. Their chicken and andouille gumbo was fantastic. My husband and I were both tipping our bowls to get every last bit. Stopped here for lunch today on our way to New Orleans for a quick bite and glad that we did. Setting is very casual but clean, and the service was great. We had a dozen raw Oysters which were very good. I don't generally like to rate raw food, as other than it being fresh (which it was), doesn't feel like the restaurant did much. Grilled Oyster Sampler - 5/5: 3 different styles, I loved 3 of them and liked the 4th (the one with the sweet sauce). Po'Boy (The Landry) - 4/5: had the one with fried shrimps, crawfish and oysters. Bread was toasted perfectly, everything was very flavorful. Thumbs up. read more

We will stop again! Out of towners looking for crawfish but we were too early so we settled for shrimp. We found Uncle T's to hit the spot! The restaurant was spacious and had a good amount of guests for Thursday 230pm. Service was kind and speedy. My husband and I split the following: Nola oysters, large shrimp poboy, and house salad with grilled shrimp. It was all good! Delicious! Cooked to perfection. Shrimp was plump and juicy - grilled and fried. The waffle fries were perfect- my kid compared them to the common ones found at CFA, but we think they were WAY better because of the slight cajun seasonings! The kids both had kid shrimp basket - I counted 8 or 9 large shrimps, my kids couldn't finish them all. We were stuffed so sadly we had to let them go. I wish we could have had dessert but I'll save that for next time. read more

Debated stopping while on 6.5 hr trip home but it was well worth the visit. Catfish basket for my daughter was some of the best I've ever had. We had 1/2 dz raw and 1/2 dz chargrilled garlic and jalapeño mix and they were amazing. Oyster poboy and shrimp poboy were good as well. read more

It's a must for me to go to Uncle T's when I'm in town, I started off with an old fashioned and the grilled oysters. The old fashion here is one of the best and they are not stingy with the alcohol you definitely have that feel good vibe when drinking the old fashioned. The oysters are very flavorful and well cleaned you don't taste much of the grit like some places. I also ordered the seafood platter grilled it was so seasoned and flavorful you get a lot I always eat on mines for at least two days I also ordered the bread pudding which is not pictured that was good also. My only complaint would be the music I wish they would cater to all nationalities when playing music because they have all nationalities spending money at this establishment I just don't think it's fair to only have one type of music playing. read more

Cross country Rv trip and wanted authentic Lafayette dinner. This was it! But Friday night had a 1h wait at 6pm. We forgot what day it was haha. But sitting outside shortened the wait - they had fans and swamp coolers do bearable. Server super helpful to recommend options to get lots of variety without over ordering. My wife and I had a hankering for oysters so we decided to give Uncle T's a try. We had a 5 star experience. This little establishment is really neat. Great "seafood joint" type vibe, situated in the quaint village of Scott, LA-- just north of the railroad tracks. Within view from the dining room is a coffee shop and a "50's style" drug store. They offer outdoor seating. The food was excellent. Raw oysters salty, large, and fresh (ice cold). We opted for the combo style chargrilled oysters and they were fantastic. My wife ordered a grilled shrimp salad which was generously portioned with fresh ingredients. It is obvious not only do they pride themselves on the environment but also the food. We had such a good experience. I highly recommend. read more

I've been wanting to try Uncle T's for a year and I finally did. My meal did not live up to the hype. The raw oysters tasted like smelly fish. Now, I am a LOVER of raw oysters, and these are probably the worst I've had. I was super disappointed since this is an Oyster Bar! I would never get oysters from here again. I also got the Landry PoBoy (ordered a half but they gave and charged me for a whole), which was pretty good. I had to eat it with a knife and fork because it was so loaded, and that is definitely not an issue. A third of this sandwich filled me up! Unfortunately, I had a big chunk of shell in the PoBoy and it sliced my gum open. It is going to be quite some time before I go back here (if ever). An Oyster Bar should have reliably good oysters. Maybe I just had a bad experience but I am very disappointed. read more

Maybe I just caught this place on an off night, but I didn't get the craze. It got such good reviews from locals I asked for suggestions, and the reviews on Yelp speak about it in the same manner. I sat down at the bar as a party of one because the wait was 30+ minutes, and clearly that irritated the young lady who was responsible for waiting on that area of the bar. Her rude attitude and inability to communicate made for an unpleasant and shortened experience. I ordered the boudin balls, intrigued by the fact that they were enhanced with pepper jack cheese inside. What I found instead were pepper jack balls enhanced with a little boudin stuffing. Not great and definitely not what I was expecting. When my friend returned to ask what else I wanted, I told her I would just take the check, to which she responded, "That's all?" I shared that based on her attitude and the overwhelming taste of pepper jack cheese, I was confident I could find a better place in the area. And that I did. Again, this seems like a one-off experience, given what everyone shares, and I hope it is. But I'm not sure I would return if in the area again. read more

Driving from FL to TX we stopped in Scott for the night. We ended up hitting rain and bad traffic. We get to Uncle T's around 8:00 had not eaten all day. Were told 90 minute wait which was closer to 60. We ordered way to much but it all was so good. Boudin Egg Rolls were Awesome. Mixed Grilled Oysters - Pepper Jelly was a little different but they were all very good and quite large. I ordered the Shrimp Poboy. This was very tasty but had to give some up as this was just way to much good food. Service as super friendly. They have lots of TVs both indoors and out. We had our dog in-tow (which are permitted on the patio) and they got her a bowl of water and she found some floor snacks. read more

We were traveling back to Texas and looking for delicious Cajun food... We found it. The grilled oysters are ranked #1 to us, (we got the Holly Beach Slammer) all the flavors are tasty, our top favorite is firecracker. We also had fried gator, delicious and tender. History

Established in 2016.

With decades of history behind the building itself, new owners Anthony and Lexi Hebert have turned Uncle T's Oyster Bar into something special all while keeping that timeless history alive. The original, all-brick building was built in the late 1950s by Lexi's grandfather, J. Warren Landry. It not only housed the Scott Post Office but within the 2,500 square feet were also a laundromat and washateria. Cue Time, by namesake, was mainly a billiards room and was a well-known place where important meetings were held among business owners, politicians, and other prominent members of the Scott community. Situated along the train tracks within the art district, the building has become a pillar of the town of Scott and a landmark recognized by locals and visitors.

We took it to go and I loved that there was a note with bread pudding to give you instructions on heating annnnnddd to brag on how good it is. It did not disappoint!!! It was just as amazing at home as it was if it would have eaten it at the restaurant. I was skeptical because of this place because of the choice in seating (once again we come from restaurants and service) and there was a fan behind me but I must say, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
